Pakatan elected reps kept out of S’gor schools

A circular that allows specified BN leaders to attend events organised by Selangor schools but keeps out those from Pakatan Rakyat, has been criticised as an example of double standards.

The circular dated Feb 16, 2009 states that the education minister has appointed 57 leaders from Selangor Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan to represent him at these events in the state.

Signed by the principal secretary to the minister, the circular was sent to the director of the Selangor Education Department.

It also states that the BN representatives have each been issued a certificate of appointment, copies of which were attached to the circular with a full list of names and posts held in the respective political parties.

When contacted, Hannah Yeoh, the DAP state assemblyperson for Subang Jaya said that – by implication – school authorities have to get the minister’s permission to invite Pakatan representatives.

“(When the schools ask for permission), it is never given,” she claimed.

Yeoh had recently mentioned this in a tweet, in which she questioned the contents of the circular and said she had managed to obtain the list of ‘approved’ BN leaders.

“I am not allowed to attend any function in the schools in my area. This is not right as it sends the message to the children that you have to receive whoever you are given. They cannot choose their own leaders,” she said.

She, however, said she was allowed to enter her alma mater – SMK Subang Utama – after the Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) stepped in.

“In my case, because the PIBG insisted, I was able to attend. So it shows that PIBG plays an important role,” she added.

‘Clearly unfair’ policy

DAP’s Teratai state assemblyperson Jenice Lee confirmed the situation.

“Some schools had requested donations from me, but I was not allowed to go in and give a speech,” she said.
There was one occasion where I had to hand over the cheque outside the school compound.”

“I know this has happened to many other Pakatan leaders, not just me and Hannah. And this is clearly unfair.”

  1. Muhyiddin said yesterday, echoing Mahathir, that he does not understand what 1Malaysia is all about.

He does not bother to ask his boss Najib for a detailed explanation.

Maybe he’s just out to ‘sabo’ Najib’s 1Malaysia.

Whatever it is, this man is NOT PM material.

  2. like tis can be a leader of a great nation..ah

  5. Hannah Yeoh needs to fight hard to be re-elected at Subang Jaya and it looks like she is on the right track.
Experiences count and it looks like she is a fast learner.
Double standards has always been and will always be practiced by UMNO B racists.
It is how she can quickly find solutions to win more votes right now that matters most…instead of telling Subang residence that we already know long ago.
She wants to be elected?….she needs to convert UMNO B voters to support her and meanwhile maintain the confidence of the voters that voted her in..during the 12th GE.
She is a gifted truthful speaker.
Use that on Road shows…before 13th GE….and not wait last moment.
Learn from LKS and ask his help.

  6. VISION2020, 1MALAYSIA AND ALL THAT JAZZ!

“We were once Malaysians” so we are told
The sorry saga took 40 years to unfold
Meanwhile our institutions have turned to crap
With simple citizens falling into the traps.

When cops who pledge to guard our lives
Simply connive with crooks to cause some dives
With judges abusing the laws for political masters
The nation’s headed for impending disasters

When security laws are treated with disdain
Peaceful vigils can result in great pain
From heavy boots and chemical sprays to protest
The ordinary folks are simply no contest

Penans can protest their rights to live with trees
The bulldozers unrelenting force shows no one is free
We have become enslaved with NEP and Ketuanan
The most vicious strains of virus for manusia-n.

FDIs have fled from Malaysia and may never come back
An eighty percent drop is disastrous someone deserves the sack!
When will sleeping Malaysians wake up to reality?
The Bankrupsi Negara regime end made a finality.

We are still Malaysians we must uphold
Human dignity the birthright of all the fold
With proper plans to aid all the poor
Neither race nor creed to be shown the door
But first we must reclaim our rights and join the cause
To vote new leaders who respect us without pause

Vision2020 is a dream turned into nightmare
With constant plunder there’s nothing left to share
Our young have moved to distant shores
Deserted villages lie beyond our doors

If you plan to swallow the 1Malaysia crap
Learn to live on a boot-strap
If you want Malaysia to change for the better
You must break that voting fetter

After forty plus years of Bankrupsi Negara rules
Can we still ponder to remain like fools?
Allowing the corrupt and murder to rule our lives
To change for the better we must strive

So think hard but don’t take too long
The nation’s weak and heart’s not strong
Come vote the day we can freedom reclaim
Your birthright to regain Malaysia’s fame.

  7. De-federalise education, health and police, that is the way forward even if PR come into power at the federal level. Hope you fellows will do what I suggest. Allow states and schools to try out their own initiatives and ideas on education, health care and security. We do not need standardisation in all these areas.

  8. ///The circular dated Feb 16, 2009 states that the education minister has appointed 57 leaders from Selangor Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan to represent him at these events in the state.///

The more Muhyiddin talks and does, the more he shows the rakyat that he is not PM material.

  9. Looks like the scums are scared out of their wits of PR; they are resorting to doing all sorts stupid things.
Now even schools and school children are not spared!
The PTAs of all schools affected must take it upon themselves to thwart this stupidity.
The electorate, on the other hand, must stiffen their resolve to make sure that PR will be in Putrajaya after the next GE.

  10. The past few months saw Muhy going places urging and appealing rakyat to support and to help make Najib’s 1Malaysia a success. Now he is echoing his godfather saying he does not understand the meaning of 1Malaysia! Makes me wonder what he had been telling the people all along. Aiyo yo, Muhy…..buat standard sikit ma. Jangan buat rakyat Malaysia malu.

  11. Do you know what is Muhyiddin’s 1Malaysia? Muhyiddin’s 1Malaysia is 1Malaysia is UMNO and UMNO is 1Malaysia. Other components parties of BN such as MCA, Gerakan, MIC, etc are to serve UMNO. All Government depts and employees are also to serve UMNO. This include AG, IGP, CJ, Chief Secretary, MACC, police, army, Election Commission, Federal courts & Court of Appellants,…etc all to serve UMNO. Even all Malaysian rakyat are expected to serve UMNO. UMNO is the master the rest are their slaves. This is Muhyiddin’s 1Malaysia.

  12. It did not make sense. opposition reps are elected by the people, besides not allowing them to attend the state (Selangor) schools is not respecting the people’s choice. What if Selongor or Penang state government keeps out all BN reps of its secretariat then how would the dpm or pm feels about it ?

  13. Forget about 1Malaysia, Muhiyiddin does not believe in equality of much be it among races, among his peers, among rich and power, among men and women etc. You name it. He is pretty much a feudal lord as they come. If he could he would want and think he deserve to be King.

  14. After umno has won the coming 13 GE, 1malaysia will be conveniently dropped and replaced with 1umno. And all opposition leaders will be herded into 1musuh-umno prison camps to be given the 1sangat-teruk treatment by the 1tiada-maaf-bagi-mu warders.

  15. “Rahman” prophecy had ended so old kerala devil wanna make “Mahathir” as the next.
Moo was so happy with the idea and little did he realise that if the plan succeed, Mukhriz could be the next PM.
Old kerala devil is much more evil then Lex Luthor.
As for Mr Moo and that Perkasa fatso, they could well end just like Anwar, but with a different note!

  16. “Melayu Perlu Bersatu” – this is the headline in today’s Utusan which is controlled by UMNO. With this kind of racist propaganda, how can Najib convince the people he is sincere in 1Malaysia?

UMNO is biggest enemy of 1Malaysia!

  17. Well, Govt schools are under the juridiction and budget of the Federal Govt. The same with hospitals, the same with other Federal govt departments. As simple as that.

If the DAP or the so-called PR becomes the federal govt one day, if ever it does la, let us see them appointing UMNO or BN leaders to represent them in school events in BN run states. It will never happen. maybe ‘one’ name, just for window dressing.

  18. Since both parties are afraid of what each other might say at schools. Instead of giving a speech, put on a debate then. Let the students decide who is right and wrong. This encourages them to see the truth of the so called 1Malaysia.
