Chia Kwang Chye should not condone the sexism of Mohd Said and Bung Mokhtar

Gerakan Secretary-General and Deputy Information Minister, Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye, should not condone the two sexist Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs, Datuk Mohd Said Yusof (Jasin) and Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (Kinabatangan) for their incorrigible sexism in Parliament if he dare not openly castigate the duo for their dishonesty and fake apologies to bring about a dishonourable closure to the nation-wide furore over their crude, derogatory, sexist and gender-offensive remarks in Parliament last week.

Chia said yesterday that as Mohd Said and Bung Mohtar have apologized, everybody should stop raising the issue anymore. (Guanming).

This is most shocking and shows that one of the problems of Barisan Nasional leaders when they become Ministers or Deputy Ministers is their surrender of the sense of justice and their faculties to differentiate between right from wrong.

Surely, Chia is aware of the patent dishonesty of the duo in making fake apologies which compounded the original offence they committed, and which cannot be accepted at all by right-thinking and justice-loving Malaysians.

I would urge Chia to reconsider what he said yesterday and openly withdraw his statement asking everyone to stop pursuing the issue purportedly on the ground that the apologies of the two are acceptable.

Just imagine what would have happened if it was a DAP MP who made the crude, derogatory, sexist and gender-offensive remarks against a woman BN MP. There is no doubt that he would have been referred immediately to the Committee of Privileges and a severe punishment of one to two years suspension without allowance would have been meted out unless a full, unconditional and acceptable apology is tendered — and I would say, rightly too!

There should not be hypocrisy and double-standards in upholding the honour of Parliament and gender equality and dignity.

I call on Chia to initiate action to ask for a meeting of the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council to convey the disgust of Malaysian women and men at the fake apologies of Mohd Said and Bung Mokhtar and to demand that both must be penalized with at least six-month suspension as MP, six-month community service with women groups and the forfeit of their parliamentary allowance during this period to be donated to women groups.

  1. The whole government is a FAKE, the Parliament is a FAKE, and all the policies and bills that are tabled are FAKES, what else could you think of. This is modern day COLONIALISM WHICH IS HERE TO STAY UNLESS AND UNTIL THE RAKYAT DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND MAKE A COMPLETE 360 DEGREE TURN.

Moreover it is common for these guys – you know who – for making all these sexist remarks, when they can focus the camera on a woman’s legs and thighs and blame the woman for her dressing and then blame the CCTV camera for malfunction, well these guys come under the same category, what else is brewing up in their dirty, murky, brackish and filthy brains is left to be seen and heard.

This is a sort of disease and/or cancer rather very contagious among these category of guys-you know who-

DONT GO FAR TO FIND THE CAUSE OF SOCIAL ILLS AFFLICTING OUR GOOD, MORALLED COUNTRY. LEAVE YOU TO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS.

LET US FIND WAYS TO PREVENT THESE GUYS FROM SITTING IN THE SEATS MEANT FOR INTELLIGENT, CONSCIENTIOUS, CLEAN MINDED PEOPLE.

PEOPLE, RAKYAT, FELLOW CITIZENS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, BANGUN, BANGUN, BANGUN, WAKE UP, WAKE UP FROM YOUR SLUMBER AND SLEEP AND SEISTAS AND MAKE SOME INTELLIGENT, WISE DECISIONS IN YOUR NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS.

DO YOU ALL WANT TO SUFFER SOME MORE

  2. Tan Sri Dr Tan Chee Khoon will be turning in his grave. Gerakan will be cursed for as long as they stay in BN. But Kit, I disagree when you wrote that “Barisan Nasional leaders when they become Ministers or Deputy Ministers is their surrender of the sense of justice and their faculties to differentiate between right from wrong”. Tan Sri Lee is no better.

  3. Who is Chia Kwang Chye, What does he knows about apology? HE WAS DUMB WHILE all of us were talking on these issue, and now he is trying to make use of the issue to satisfy the BN . Why three legged now? Why tripod stand now ? His heart should know well.
hOW CAN WE ACCEPT THIS POLICAL EUNUCH ?
Anyway, the two rascal are not sincere and i believe they will repeat in future bcos their brain are born at their backside and not on their head!
#My response :Chia said yesterday that as Mohd Said and Bung Mohtar have apologized, everybody should stop raising the issue anymore. (Guanming).#

  4. Chia, who is the Secretary General of the Gerakan, was merely echoing the Gerakan party’s stand (finally).

It is surprising that Gerakan (and MCA etc) had been very silent on this sexist slur issue maybe because it has a new President who might not know what to say or do as he is still brand new. The colourful previous President might have something to say a long time ago.

However, now that the party has finally emerged to squeak out its stand, we all know now what its members and leaders stand on this issue.

The government is now trying to sweep everything under the carpet and quickly move away from this embarassing episode. So it now gets Chia the Deputy Information Minister and possibly others in the coming days, to make propaganda statements to try to get the public to forget the issue which has caused the government dearly.

Chia is being used to pass on the “correct” information, he knows it but what can he do but be a good boy and messenger? Good boy, Chia, good boy. But please, put on your thinking cap.

  5. Chia Kwang Chye will be singing a different tune if his wife and daughters were the targets of those two monkeys’ mockery of monthly menstrual discharges. The reason why he defends those 2 monkeys would be he wants to be in umno’s good books to be appointed penang’s new chief minister

  6. Not only Chia spoke at the wrong time, he speaks when it is not needed to, or perhaps he speaks for himself only. With him as one of the leaders in Gerakan, the party is definitely going down the drain, you don’t have much hopes for suckers like Chia who sucks on BN to stay comfortable.

  7. Kwang Chye will definitely get a pat on the head from the two disgustful sexist BN MPs: good boy, good boy, Kwang Chye. Sit. Diam. Wait till you are allowed or directed to speak again.

How low can a man get when he cannot sense what’s right and what’s wrong?

  8. WHY did Chia keep quiet for 9 days and think that he will be a hero by commenting after the so called Apology. This ican clearly ne seen HOW our MCA and Gerakan politicians act on issues like this. They are so worried of their Mininster post. He choose to be DUMB FOOL even though he knows the seriousness of
theses issues and then comment to gain some CREDIT for his future use in the BN goverment. GOOD BOY DESERVE A SWEET.

WHY WHY WHY being called Tan Sri or Dato makes ALL Ministers sell off all their dignity and pride to fend for his mother, wife, daughter and the whole world women.

CHIA KEEP YOU MOUTH SHUT. YOU DEFINETLY WILL NOT BECOME HERO AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU ANY SWEET.

  9. Just yesterday, former President Carter criticised Blair for being subservient to Bush’s disastrous and ill-advised Iraq campaign. Carter’s use of such strong words directly questioned Blair’s independence and his principles, a damning indictment on the outgoing British premier.

Well, the moral of the story is that BN politicians will sell their souls and sometimes their mothers too just to keep their political positions particularly if they are Cabinet posts. See the reaction of DPM (‘sexist remarks only ‘humour’ and some people are having a big meal out of it’!) and other BN MPs and Cabinet Ministers! Deplorable, unprincipled and subservient.

Folks, these guys have shown their spineless character & must be voted out in the next GE!

  10. Tell you that Gerakan have no guts just like MCA.

Voters in Penang, remember to show them the way out in the next GE.

Why should we vote for people who could not even see reasons, can’t differentiate between right and wrong, and poodles to UMNO?

  11. It is high time that the ladies in Malaysia use this opportunity to voice out dissatisfaction about sexual harasments and bring up instances of such degratory remarks and gender insensitive jokes not only in the Parliment but happening widespread.

It is time to come out of the closet and claim your right and equal place in the society. There is no need to hide in fear of tradition. Each of us can discern what is right and wrong, what is just and unjust. Just because a tradition is practiced long does not mean it is right. Women have been now educated to know that they need to be respected as much as men. This is the 21st century and if Malaysia still have practices that restrain women from being given equal chances in the society, such traditions need to be improved. Women can also make changes to these traditions and have a say besides men.

In America, there was an Afro-American with the name of Rosa Parks. On December 1, 1955, Parks was sitting on a bus in the front row of the section reserved for blacks. But when a white man got on, there were no more seats in the white section, so the bus driver told Parks to move back.

But Parks was convinced that to do so would be wrong—and she refused to get up. “Since I have always been a strong believer in God,” she says, “I knew that He was with me, and only He could get me through that next step.” Her courage later freed discrimination towards Afro-Americans in America decades later.

We as Malaysians need to have courage to stand up for what we believe in and not just live a passive life sheltered by the government, by governments Acts, by threats of ISA. We need to free ourselves from these chains that make our lives not worth living. If we do not believe in something, first discuss our disbelief with others and if after hearing from others, we can make a better decision.

If Rosa Parks did not choose to stand up for her rights and sue in the court, there will be less reasons for politicians to fight for her case. If Lina Joy did not choose to risk her life to stand for what she believes in, that Malaysians need to have freedom of religion, there will be no awareness and no avenue for politicians to lobby for change.

I look forward to the day, when the Prime Minister of Malaysia encourages full religious freedom and reminds everyone of the multiracial country and that all religions and race are equal in Malaysia. The Prime Minister would echo the words of Abraham Lincoln –

“…Let us discard all this quibbling about this man
and the other man–this race and that race and the
other race being inferior, and therefore they must be
placed in an inferior position…Let us discard all
these things, and unite as one people throughout this
land, until we shall once more stand up declaring that
    all men are created equal.”
    – Abraham Lincoln

  12. Their ‘fake apologies’ speaks volume of their low despicable characters.

This BN government has lost all credibility in the eyes of the People. The way they handle their MPs on this “bocor” issue is most shameful.

Deputy PM Najib Tun Razak, Mohamed Nazri Aziz, Shahrir Samad and now Chia Kwang Chye seems to have all lost their sense of self-worth! They can’t differentiate right from wrong when they condone the derogatory actions of the two sexist MPs from Jasin and Kinabatangan.

If that was their way of distracting the People’s attention from irresponsible shoddy works that lead to bocor ceilings falling off new govt buildings and newly renovated Parliament House then, that is highly irresponsibe and mischievous.

My gut feeling is that they are trying to protect somebody, some company, some cronies? Billions of tax-payers’ money, our money have been spent and is this what we get? Something’s very wrong and we demand to know what’s going on?

  13. Oh God! We are still on the issue of the two rogues among the Members of Parliament??

“…demand that both must be penalized with at least six-month suspension as MP, six-month community service with women groups and the forfeit of their parliamentary allowance during this period to be donated to women groups.”

Why six month suspension and why six month community service only? They should be taken to the public square and flogged or stoned to death!

  14. Hawaiichee,

There was no gender issue when Rosa Parks refused to vacate her seat for a white man.

The derogatory remarks made by the two MPs constitute an outrage to all decent and peace loving, educated Malaysians of whatever gender, race or religion or political affiliations – and not just women.

Those remarks though directed at a particular woman MP serve to remind the electorate generally, and specifically the constituents which the two represent if they had sent right person to represent them.

  15. Today Malaysians will have not only to wrestle with the culture of corruption but also the ‘bocor’ culture.

Everything about this country can be summed up in one word i.e. ‘bocor’.

Bocor rahsia, bocor amanah, bocor otak (brain drain) bocor segala bocor and so on – not only tiap tiap bulan bocor.

  16. bodohland should rethink the sale of titles to every tom, dick or harry. if these 2 buffons are datuks, what does that tell you about the rest of the datuks (or tun or tan sri or other titles ad nauseam) in bodohland?
your title is not worth a [deleted] outside of bodohland. once you open your mouth other people can tell nothing intelligent or anything worth listening is coming out of your mouth. like mark twain said “it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and erase all doubt”.

  17. It seems to me that BN is a fellowship of tyrants, idiots, morons, sexists, the corrupt and unprincipled, cheats and thieves who steal from public coffers.

God, with 90% BN MPs in PArliament, who needs a parliament?!!!

  18. “Trying hard to cover a mistake with another mistakes” and so it goes from the point where things originally started. The BN MPs are working hard nowadays to serve their own camp and to uphold the unity within the coalition “at all cost”.
AAB is the smarter one as KJ advised him to ‘keep his mouth shut”.
AAB will be praying to Almighty to bless KJ and keep him alive longer…. at least another term as PM .

  19. People should print the crude, derogatory, sexist and gender-offensive remarks of these two MPs in four different languages (BM, English, Chinese, and Tamil) and circulate them widely in the constituencies of these two MPs.

Include below their remarks: Ladies (especially ladies) and gentlemen, why did you vote for these worse-than-animal creatures? Do you still want to vote for them to insult your grandmothers, mothers, wives, daughters, aunties, nieces, etc.?

  20. “Do you still want to vote for them to insult your grandmothers, mothers, wives, daughters, aunties, nieces, etc.?” The answer from the bumis is 100% yes because only by voting for creatures such as those 2 apes can they be assured of being able to enjoy the numerous benefits of the NEP

  21. I think we should not waste our time to take notice of Gerakan and some of their leaders (with the exception of Dr Toh). They are insignificant puppets and they have no voice of their own. Let them dance according to the dongeng tune in Penang. Their time in Penang is expiring soon.

Let’s welcome the wind of change!

  22. Hello Mr Chia Kwang Chai(not fits to be address as Datuk) In the game of mahjong you will be named Three Bamboo Tiles. If you keep your mouth shut,i won’t say you are mute,Por Lam Pah!.Traitors.

  23. “Chia said yesterday that as Mohd Said and Bung Mohtar have apologized, everybody should stop raising the issue anymore. (Guanming).”

I agree with him. It is not like it is a criminal offense.
