ROS director-general’s groundless comment clearest sign that UMN0/BN government may be preparing a Hari Raya surprise – deregistration of DAP on completely baseless and frivolous grounds

The Star report today “Don’t harbour false hopes” quoting the ROS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman is the clearest sign that the UMNO/BN government may be preparing a Hari Raya surprise – the deregistration of DAP on completely baseless and frivolous grounds.

The Star report is studded with false and groundless premises showing that the ROS director-general is acting in a completely improper, unfair and unprofessional manner not in keeping with the efficient, impartial and independent discharge of his public duties.

How can the ROS director-general comment on a completely fictitious scenario which is a total concoction or figment of imagination of the Umno/BN propagandists, cybertroopers and their agents, as if it is a fact?

The Star report headlined “Don’t harbour false hopes” states:

‘Don’t harbour false hopes’

PETALING JAYA: DAP members have been told not to harbour hopes of forming a new party if the Registrar of Societies (ROS) decides to de-register it.

ROS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman said they would not likely entertain requests to set up a new party.

“They can apply. But the right to approve is with the ROS. We did not even entertain 29 applications to set up new parties submitted over the last five years,” he said yesterday.

He was asked to comment on the move by DAP members to look into establishing a new political party if de-registration was inevitable following complaints of election fraud in the DAP’s central executive committee (CEC) election in December.

The notion of forming a new party if the DAP is deregistered had never been raised or entertained by anyone in the DAP, whether leadership or membership, as there is no plausible ground for the deregistration of the DAP.

The fictitious scenario that there are DAP leaders or members who are preparing to establish a new political party allegedly “to purge political enemies” in the party is completely baseless, concocted by the UMNO/BN propagandists, cybertroopers and their agents to character-assassinate the DAP leadership.

But when such lies and falsehoods are accepted as if they are facts and truths as to warrant a comment by the ROS director-general, then the question of the independence, impartiality and professionalism of the ROS director-general immediately comes into question, raising the issue whether the ROS director-general was himself a party to the months of lies and falsehoods by Umno/BN propagandists, cybertroopers and their agents falsely accusing the DAP of all sorts of improprieties in the party elections in the DAP national congress last December.

The ROS director-general made a cryptic remark in the Star report when he was asked “if the party should call for a fresh CEC election”, saying:

“It is better for the party members and leaders to take the initiative to save the party rather than harbour false hopes of setting up a new one.”

Abdul Rahman should explain what he meant when referred to “the initiative to save the party” as up to now, the Party has not received any request in the past seven months for fresh CEC election. Only the Umno/BN propagandists, cybertroopers and their agents have been making noises in this regard in the past few months.

With the approach of the Umno party elections at the end of the year, it is increasingly evident that the ROS decision on the DAP is not going to be a professional one, but a political one.

The ROS director-general and the UMNO/BN government should realise that the DAP will fight every inch of the way against any gross abuses of power affecting the future of DAP including the baseless and groundless deregistration of DAP.

  1. UMNO now feels that it is easier to deregister political parties and fighting the election. It would even save them money from BR1M and keep the billions for themselves; less man more share.

  2. After the 13th GE, the DAP has gotten to be too powerful that it needs to be stopped immediately. And the new Minister and other Little Napoleons would relish it to happen soon.

Even if there were problems with the CEC elections, does it warrant a de-registration? Couldn’t the RoS order new elections to be held? Why are they so looking for a small (but curable) excuse to de-register the party?

It seems to me that a de-registration will happen soon. You might then have to appeal to Zahid for mercy something he would relish very much. Time for all of you to consider your next course of action.

  3. Umno’s new power grab game – deregister opponent political parties! During the Mahathir era, they controlled the judiciary to get what they wanted. Now in Jibby’s era, they control ROS to achieve their aims.

  4. It just surprise me how stupid they are. Before GE 13 we already told them, no rocket? no problem! no new party? ok! We will just join the eye and the moon! The current main problem for the opposition team is that they do not have a unity identity and on certain degree unity of direction. De-register of DAP, will strengthen opposition. Please de-register pas or keadilan too! then the opposition pack will have a single front!

  5. A corrupted self serving regime will not let you come into power by a simple democratic process of voting. For Umno Baru/BN to lose power, too much is at stake, so they will do all they can by hook or by crook in disregard to the international principle or norm.
Kit, Karpal and all in your team, we salute you for soldiering on.
The people, at least the majority if not all are with you all.
    Do prepare for the worst.
    Don’t get caught unprepared !

Just to digress, I am afraid they are going to put Anwar behind bars in their appeal in Sodomy 2.

All is not well since 505, the ordinary folks are being harassed with higher summon, rates, regulations, just to name a few of the vindictive operations Umno Baru/BN have inflicted on their daily living.

The voiceless masses are crying out day and night for relief from such a heartless punitive punishment from their government.

What can an ordinary folk do in the face of the big bully? Just have to swallow what is given…

Better days are coming; but before that we are expecting the worst, the worst is yet to come!

Together we stand, together we can!

  6. ///Kampung Beris Lampu village chief Yaakob Kadir has denied bribing Kuala Besut voters on the constituency’s by-election polling day, saying it is merely an incentive for outstation voters to return and cast their ballots.///–Malaysiakini

It is only an incentive for police not to file charges for traffic offence. Would that not be corruption?

EC should now act. Isn’t it a duty for people to vote, and incentive given to lure voting would change election results. That becomes buy-election. Of course the money is given to everybody since everybody can vote for the party which provided the money. The voters received money to vote, that is receiving bribery. The village chief did not give his own money but he got it from a third party who wanted the election results his way. That is vote buying.

EC commissioner should resign if he does not act against confirmed bribery.

  7. One wonders whether this guy is working for the country or for the political party opposed to the DAP. If he thinks that he owes his present position to the political party in power, he should immediately quit his present job and join them. He would be able to serve them better this way.

  8. “…the independence, impartiality and professionalism of the ROS director-general immediately comes into question…”

Personally speaking, I have never questioned the independence nor the impartiality nor the professionalism of the ROS Director-General. I didn’t think there was anything there to begin with :)

  9. This is plain and simple FALSE pride on part of the UMNO-Bristas. (isnt false pride suppose to be unholy especially in the holy month of Ramadhan?). If there was something wrong, they would have not allowed DAP to run in the last GE but they realized it would have sensationalized the opposition even further if DAP ran on PAS ticket. Now the GE is over, the scheming and plotting continue and they believe a move now would have no electoral sensationalism and they burnish their credentials are schemers and plotters to undermine the confidence of the opposition supporters.

Its all false pride. In my book, UMNO is no Muslim much less a legitimate political party..

  10. The ROS DG, Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman said:

“They can apply. But the right to approve is with the ROS. We did not even entertain 29 applications to set up new parties submitted over the last five years,” he said yesterday.”.

The sheer arrogance and extreme bias of the man sticks out like a sore thumb. His statement indicates he has already made up his mind and is just going through the motion of an investigation firstly, to avoid announcing the deregistration until after GE13 so as not to jeopardise the voting for BN. Secondly, he is taking so long is because ROS is unable to find any strong grounds to deregister DAP.

  11. The EC, despite its cloak and dagger games, is still deemed insufficient in view of the drop in popular votes to less than 47%. Something new and drastic is needed to win future elections. And what better way is to look for the simplest of excuse to have your opponents deregistered. It saves both time and money. No popular votes required, just walkover with a clean slate. Afterall, everything can be compromised.

  12. You saw, witness and knew, watching the robbers rob the nation money vault, worst this act totally protect by bunch of people paid from nation money vault

If you take action to stop the robbers the bunch of people paid from nation money vault will come after you and may lock you

What kind of country is this?
