Najib says Sabah RCI still ‘under consideration’

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has apparently refuted claims that a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on the alleged citizenship-for-votes scam in Sabah had already been approved.

“We are considering it,” said Najib in a curt reply to a question on whether the RCI would be established after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting last night.

Najib’s response came as a surprise as high-profile Sabah BN leaders had claimed that cabinet had approved the establishment of the RCI on Feb 8.

The Sabah BN leaders had speculated that Najib would officially announce the RCI during his two-day visit to the state last week.

However, he left Sabah after a two-day visit with no mention of the RCI.

United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) secretary-general Wilfred Madius Tangau told Malaysiakini yesterday that the RCI was already in the bag and only its terms of reference remained to be ironed out.

According to him, Upko had already submitted its proposals on the terms of reference to de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz.

  1. When will UPKO, PBS, PBRS etc ever learn that BN and UMNO always twists and turn like Chubby Checker?

When will these Sabah parties say ‘Enough is Enough’ and leave? But I forget. They have no guts or backbone. Their leaders have eaten too much gravy and have become fat, fat, fat.

  2. Is there any point to even discussing this? Even if RCI Sabah get formed, it won’t be done by the time GE comes along. The terms of reference will never be enough to flush out anything signficant before the GE. After the GE, they will always just flush it under the carpet whatever it is..

Its as good as pointless to talk about it..

  3. “You can’t control a clean person. A tainted person can be kept in line. All Dr Mahathir had to do was to show this person the thick file he has on him or her and that person will submit to whatever the Prime Minister says.” RPK

You guys seriously think that there can be an RCI that will show Mamakthir misconduct or even treason ?

  4. Heck consider this. In many parts of sabah foreigners outnumber locals. Umno is not going to do anything about it. That we all know. And the reason for that too is known to all of us. Actually the RCI, even if formed and is completely independent, will only serve to confirm our views. Well at least then it would formalise our beliefs that umno is responsible for the state of affairs in sabah. Yeah. But what is more important is this. Imagine sabah being slowly overrun by foreigners in number – given umno’s effort in encouraging it? This will be a reality soon, actually. And imagine. What would the result be should sabah then, with majority filipinos (or indons, as the case may be) push for a referendum to leave malaysia? Heck man!
