The last days of Umno are beginning

By Dr Chen Man Hin, DAP life advisor

UMNO shows no signs of genuine reforms despite claims by PM Najib that UMNO is on the reform road as shown by the verdict of freedom for Anwar over the Sodomy 2 conspiracy. If there are no signs of reforms than UMNO will collapse in time, similar to what happened to the Soviet Union which collapsed in 1990.

Like Najib, Mikail Gorbachev tried to save Russia with his policies of ‘glasnost and perestroika’ but these failed to save Soviet Russia, because he could not introduce democracy and economic restructuring as there was no policies or infrastructure to modernise Russia.

Najib is also claiming that he has great plans to reform the country, ever since he introduced his 1 Malaysia program. However, all he had to deliver are just promises. Nothing concrete he promised to cut down corruption, but every day corruption is the rule in government departments, judiciary and the police. Events have overtaken Najib and there is no way he could reverse the corruption cancer pervading the country.

Anwar’s verdict of freedom in sodomy 2

PM Najib claims that his government supports judiciary independence by not influencing in the verdict of not guilty in Anwar’s sodomy 2 trial. This must be the greatest lie of the century, when it is well known by all the people and international countries that sodomy 2 was a conspiracy hatched by PM Najib, his wife Rosmah and Saiful. This is a fact which is undeniable.

Much as he would like to, Najib could not do otherwise like forcing a verdict that Anwar was guilty of sodomy 2, as the DNA evidence profferred by a well known Australian authority on DNA was irrefutable – there was no evidence of ANWAR’s DNA sperm on any of the Prosecuter’s forensic evidence. To do otherwise would make Najib’s governmemt the laughing stock of the world. He must have been so advised by APCO, an Israel organisation commissioned by Najib to boost his image internationally.

The reforms that Najib must make to reassure the people that his government is impartial, independent, incorrupt and fair to all Malaysians irrespective of race, culture or religion.

  1. Amend the constitution to restore the separation of powers which are inherrent for the judiciary, the legislature and the executive. The restoration of the separation of powers is an urgent imperative. We saw this in the way that the executive could manipulate the judiciary, Parliament and law enforcement agents like the Attorney General and the police.

  2. PM Najib must implement basic fundamentals like equality for all races. In his much publicised 1 Malaysia, He has yet to declare that the people are Malaysians first and foremost, and there should not be any discrimination between malays, chinese, indians, kadazans or dayaks.

  3. We have yet to wait for PM Najib declare that Malaysians should not be divided into bumiputras and non-bumiputras. This division is not in the constitution, and is the work of Umno. Apartheid was practised in South Africa but with Mandela as Prime Minister there is no more apartheid. This is what the people want to hear, since he declared that Umno is on the reform path, no apartheid, no ketuanan melayu.

  4. PM Najib has put all his faith on the ETPS to transform the economy. If he really wants to make Malaysia prosperous and become a high income nation, then he must listen to the advice given by both the World Bank and IMF that the must dismantle the NEP policy. Otherwise, Malaysia will be left behind while other countries like Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand overtake Malaysia in the coming Asian century.

So PM Najib, we want to see these refroms being implemented. If you do not, it is quite certain that Pakatan Rakyat will take over Putrajaya, ad dramatic changes will be made, courtesy of his nemesis, Anwar Ibrahim.

  1. Jib speaking through the left fork of his “W” immediately accepted the 4 points laid out by Dr Chen above. And relying on the same fork of his “W” he further issued a guarantee to all malaysians that he is 101% committed to turn malaysia into the best whatever in the world.

What I am saying is this. Pointless dr chen. It is just plain pointless to make such request of jib. You see the left fork of his “W” has no links (vessels or nerves) to his heart. Nor to his conscience.

  2. Why does everybody pray and hope that Najib can do the “right” thing. He’s never done anything right in his life, and he has never had to make any serious decision in his life, except to ditch that TV3 newscaster following his escapade in PD.

Najib leads by standing at least 6 rows from the front. Makes an escape through the back door much easier. So please don’t ever think that the guy could be a reformist.

  3. The same script repeated again and again. Police start the investigation and before it end they will make announcement that they did not find any evidence that there is wrong, off with one qualification that investigation is still on going. Then they will see the pressure will go off, if not they will call more people in to interview (over a cup of tea and coffee which they can choose off course, friendly party mah not like TBH, hantam kasih kuat-kuat). After that pass to AG office, saying that it is up to AG to decide now. Then AG pass the IP back to the police that they ask police to probe further. Don’t you think this script is so familiar…

  4. We have PKFZ, now we have NFC. The amount involve in PKFZ was massive yet nothing was done to prevent it. The Sun journalist Nadez and spent much of his time in his investigative report since the start the land was acquired. He even has documentary evidence to proof something is very wrong and he himself has challenge the then ACA to come to investigate but nothing until all moneys has gone only they take action but all is too late even some one is going to shift him home to Sg. Buloh.

Compare with PKFZ, NFC may be just a small dwarf but it is still a lot of money for those who are finding it more and more difficult to cope with the non stop increasing in the costs of living of today.

Do you ever dream that those involve will be punished? It is a dream too far from the horizon and it is impossible that it will happen as far as BN is sitting there.

It is simple, as she say before which Minister is clean? None

This is an interesting comparison which I wonder if it’s valid one. If Najib were really like Gorbachev, then there are stronger reasons to give moral support to one such as Najib because just like Gorbachev, whose “cakap tidak serupa bikin” ‘glasnost and perestroika’ created a momentum of awakening amongst the peoples of Russia and East European states under Soviet hegemony and accelerated the dismantling and end of the totalitarian Soviet Union/empire, so hopefully Najib“cakap tidak serupa bikin” liberal talk of moderation and intended reforms may help hasten and accelerate the beginning of the last days of the UMNO/BN empire! What may be unfortunate is that he is NOT a Gorbachev: it is not that he is….

  6. I assume that it would be ordinary for any group of political elites or political party in power for many years to decline into misgovernance and abuse of power. This means both ruling party’s leaders as well as apparachiks will entrench themselves in ossified thinking and methods incapable of re-invention and fearful of and resistant to change lest they lose their privileges. Any one – whether Gobachev or Najib or whomsoever – leading such an organisation of reactionaries will be caught in a dilemma. He has to talk of change or (as in our context), as Najib said before, the ruling party would be changed! However the dilemma is such a leader is always caught between the Hammer and an Avil (in the manner of speaking) because conservatives and reactionaries within his party will always take the hardline approach of contradicting/resisting his talk or policies of liberal change and opposing his policies whilst others outside will criticise either the pace of reform/change is too slow or that there is really no change.

  7. Gorbachev realized that fixing the Soviet economy required reforming the political and social structure of the Communist nation with changes under the liberal platform of ‘glasnost and perestroika’ approved by the international détente of richer western governments with their liberal & democratic views. Likewise Najib knows that likewise here our economy needs too foreign investment from the international détente (led by US) clamoring for level playing field (instead of NEP) and independent judiciary to arbiter legal disputes. Hence the liberal talk, trying to manage perception even if talk cannot match deeds. Though talk matched by deed is preferred, however if action were not there, if he has to talk, wouldn’t we rather prefer he talks of reforms and change than talk of Ketuanan status quo as the rest such as TDM, Utusan or Perkasa?

  8. For like it or not, there is always use in a person leading a party that cannot change to talk about the impossible – ie change. Because such is the dynamics of things, “cakap tidak serupa bikin” excites and elevates hopes that are not gratified by fulfillment and to that extent will garner even more anger and frustration to galvanise those disappointed to coalesce and vote the promisor and his party out, thereby accelarating the attainment of the ultimate objective of reform & change! Would we deny some credit for 308 tsunami to Pak Lah’s liberal talk? This was what Gorbachev did, which resulted in the end of Cold War, breakup of the evil Soviet empire and more freedoms for people of Russia and countries under previous Soviet domination – for which Gorbachev was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 amongst other awards.

  9. What? Nazri freaked out when asked to reveal his assets? (Read FMT) “It’s dangerous” he said “for Ministers to reveal their personal worth.” And as expected he offered no explanation or elaboration as to why or how revelation could be dangerous.

  10. No worry, ALL GRANDPAs r datuk, GENUINE 1 what, no need d artificial 1, some more got 2 pay or bribe 1
Just encourage your sons/daughters 2 do d necessary pong, pong, pong, 9 months later, U become datuk lor

  11. ///Krauthammer said that Gingrich’s succinct explanation of Republican ideals would have played well with any audience and drew a rare standing ovation from the audience at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

“What he did, and the reason that was such a winning answer — it actually got a standing ovation which is fairly unusual in a debate like this — was because he was able to frame in a minute, in 60 seconds, the fundamental difference between the understanding of compassion on the left vs. an understanding of what compassion is on the right,” according to Krauthammer. “He pointed out that the liberal view is handouts and dependency and paternalism. That’s ever since the Great Society. And the view on the right is it’s a job. It’s independence. It’s dignity and it’s a person standing on his own.”///–http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/gingrich-leads-romney-south-carolina/2012/01/18/id/424661?s=al&promo_code=DF62-1

In Malaysia, compassion has continue to be based on handouts and it has bow been transformed into racism. With racism, UMNO has legalized corruption for the powers-that-be. It now takes creating a few Malay tycoons a national project.

  12. The day I heard Najib is addressed as…”Ah Jib Gor”…I was thinking he is going to surprises all with latest act..speaking in Mandarin…..the last bright idea to win Malaysian Chinese votes.
