Challenge to Muhyiddin – substantiate his UMNO General Assembly speech that DAP wants to set up a Republic or apologise for the lie

I challenge Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to substantiate his UMNO General Assembly speech that DAP wants to abolish the system of Malay sultanates and set up a republic or he should apologise for the lie.

In his speech opening UMNO’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings’ annual general assemblies on Tuesday, Muhyiddin appeared to substantiate his allegation of a DAP agenda to form a republic when he followed up with a rhetorical question:

“If not, do they dare suggest the prime minister’s position be selected based solely on elections and without being chosen by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong? What is the meaning of this?

“It means that the democratic parliamentary system and the constitutional monarchy which we have been practising thus far no longer suit their interest to seize power.”

But this is a downright lie as no DAP leader had ever made such a statement.

I challenge Muhyiddin to substantiate his speech and declare which DAP leader, who, where and when such a statement wanting “the Prime Minister’s position to be selected based solely on elections and without being chosen by the Yang di Pertuan Agong” was made.

If Muhyiddin is unable to substantiate his irresponsible and reckless allegation at the UMNO General Assembly against the DAP for wanting to set up a republic, then he should apologise and retract it or he would be exposed as a liar of the first order.

DAP was made the “whipping boy” at the UMNO General Assembly with UMNO leaders and delegates hurling all sorts of groundless and even seditious allegations and lies against the DAP – that the DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers and “agents of Christianisation” to bring about a “Christian Malaysia”.

This only shows how desperate UMNO leaders and delegates have become because they know that time is running out for them with the approach of the 13th General Elections.

The Prime Minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Razak has often said that UMNO must change or UMNO will be changed. The speeches of UMNO leaders and delegates at the recent UMNO General Assembly have shown that UMNO is incapable of change on its own and that it must be changed by the voters by giving UMNO an opportunity to play the role of a loyal and responsible Opposition in the Federal Parliament after the next general elections.

  1. If any DAP’s politician had ever suggested “prime minister’s position be selected based solely on elections”, it is because Article 43(2) of the Federal Constitution states so: “The Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall first appoint as Perdana Menteri (Prime Minister) to preside over the Cabinet a member of the House of Representatives who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of that House…”. It is clear that the majority of the members of that House is determined based solely on elections regarding who has electoral majority. Obviously YDPA in His role as constitutional monarch has to act according to the Federal Constitution and cannot appoint as PM an opposition leader of minority of the members of Dewan Rakyat. This means that if ever a DAP’s politician did say “prime minister’s position be selected based solely on elections”, it is a statement consistent rather than inconsistent with the concept and practice of constitutional monarchy. What a fallacious twist of argument from something consistent with constitutional monarchy into something against (in favour of republic)! Such a twist must assume the audience does not understand or know much about the concept and practice of constitutional monarchy.

  2. Actually, in a jurisdiction with a working legal system, Muhiyiddin has already defamed and slander DAP and liable for damages.. Wouldn’t it be nice to take away his ill-gotten wealth? One can only dream..

  3. //But this is a downright lie as no DAP leader had ever made such a statement.//

It has been known for a long time that umno survives by putting words in its opponents’ mouths. Tomorrow Mr Moo will claim that Anwar and Nik Aziz are going to get married San Francisco.

  4. Are you seriously asking Muhyiddin to apologise?

As far as I know an inveterate liar does not apologise for his lies.

Nor does a drug addict apologise for his drug addiction or an alcoholic apologise for his alcoholism.

Lying, drinking, drugs help to maintain the homeostasis in their DNA.

  5. They say that RATS will run away from a sinking ship soonest; in this case they too have read the wrting on the wall that the BN Ship will simply capsize; no chance even to scramble off the ship! Hence, they hope to confuse the Malays with such claim plucked from the thin air. A party with nothing except slogans to offer all these years will sell anything through outright lies just to stay afloat. DAP will have to tread carefully on such issues, maybe even bettter let PKR or PAS pushes some of the more ‘sensitive agenda”. Desperate people may do desperate things in life. What did the Assembly achieve as the leading Party in the country? Nothing except slogans based on fear factors created by them for the consumption of the “illiterates” of their party blinded by years of self-deception.

  6. NOW, Najib is actually getting down to the ground and doing the lying starting with Perkida.

Someone should tell both Najib & Muhiyiddin to stop their lying and focus on the chaos where Bung Mokhtar is challenging them to live up to their hypocrisy of sticking to ‘winnable candidate’ and keep reform out of UMNO..

  7. Muhyiddin is not even qualified to be our DPM… He is so narrow-minded.. Declare Malay first, Malaysian Second… I dunno why until today, Najib is still unable to kick him out! Unbelievable…..

  8. His created lies to instigate and to confuse the Rakyat/electorates have angered many. Even a ketua kampong I know said he’s embarrassed by such lies coming from a dPM. He could not help but let fly his ‘carut’!

One new vote for Pakatan, and many more to come!

  9. They will copy PR’s ways to accuse with no evidence.
Accusations hurled at corrupted UMNO b crooks with evidences…all they need is go the the mosque ans swear not true….cases close….no investigations needed.
They make a mockery over Laws and Orders.

  10. It this the way of Malaysia political that mean we need to change it. As i know DAP alway respect the sultanate institution and existing of Royal Agong as the rules of Malaysia. I would like Y.B Lim Kit Siang to take legal action to the PM and TPM on this matter.

  11. muhideen, so??

Errr, I didnt say those things.
Well, kerismuddin bin lembuddin said them. Maybe fat mama said them, I dont know anything ok.
And and yes the press printed something I did not say. They misquoted me. I errr I I … I said PAP wanted a republic not DAP.

  12. Sdr Lim, I know this is probably a very sensitive subject. When our DYMM Agong appoints the Prime Minister of Malaysia, does he have the absolute discretion or must he follow the constitution which says he must appoint from among the members of the Dewan Rakyat a person who commands the confidence of the majority of the house of representative. You see, we are gradually becoming a nincompoop country – imputing lots of things that are not in the constitution and ignoring lots of things that are in the constitution. I hope DAP has not become a nincompoop too.

  13. Najib said May 13 was caused by opposition parties staging victory parades and shouted insults at Malays. The parades took place in KL and in those days there might be less than a dozen Malays who could claim hearing the words spoken, and whether or not they felt insulted could hardly be for Najib to vouch.

Najib and his deputy are claiming that DAP wants to abolish the system of Malay sultanates and set up a republic, and that Malay agenda would suffer. What Najib and gang accuse DAP of doing amounts to worse than insulting Malays which
Najib considered it justified that May 13 was organized. Then Najib’s accusation serves to preparing his supporter to take up another May 13, when UMNO loses in the coming election.

Najib should apologize for his statement linking May 13 to insults hurled in the streets. If Najib considers that May 13 was a dark age in Malaysian history his statement did not show it. Clearly UMNO wants another May 13. UMNO members in past UMNO assembly threatened to make that happen.

But to hear it from the Prime Minister who advise moderation in world forum shows that the PM knows no shame.

  14. Limkamput,

Let’s admit it, we are already a nation of nincompoops, no?

We have had 6 prime ministers all not directly elected by majority of us Malaysians! Yet after them, kins from these same few families are jostling for control of the top seats as if it’s their god-given rights!

And now they are blaming DAP for 54 years of bad blood and nation failure?
This nation is never short of scandals after scandals, blatant corruption even unimaginable gruesome murder eg of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu whose immigration records were erased from Immigration computer altogether! Yes, Malaysia was gripped by the gruesome murder in 2006. The Home Minister then was Mohd Najib Tun Razak son of Tun Abdul Razak!

Two from Malaysia’s police force who never knew Altantuya personally and who could not have any motive to kill her whatsoever, were charged for murder – Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 32, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar,36. Both were found “GUILTY” and sentenced to DEATH!

In wrapping up the country’s longest trial everJustice Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin said:

“the prosecution had proven the case against them beyond reasonable doubt.” Full Stop.

  15. ///DAP was made the “whipping boy” at the UMNO General Assembly with UMNO leaders and delegates hurling all sorts of groundless and even seditious allegations and lies against the DAP – that the DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers and “agents of Christianisation” to bring about a “Christian Malaysia”.///–Kit

Najib knows very well that non-Malays who have direct experience of UMNO’s evil policy of racism would not vote for BN, whether it is MCA, Gerakan or MIC, and certainly not UMNO. Najib declared 1Malaysia hoping that non-Malays might be stupid enough to fall for his trap. Mamakthir in 1999 was able to fool the Siqiu group into believing that Mamakthir would not dare to negate a public promise; they were wrong.

Najib forever an opportunist concludes that UMNO might have a net gain of Malay votes if he confirms his racist philosophy. Thus, he shamelessly said that when he declared1Malaysia he did not declare dropping Malay agenda. Najib has given up luring non-Malays’ votes for BN. That was also why Muhyiddin declared that UMNO can rule on its own. Muhyiddin signals the Malays that they should only vote Malay candidates.

UMNO demonizes PAS and PKR for selling out Malays interest simply by becoming political partner of DAP. To indicate that UMNO has a different role working with non-Malays Najib demonstrates that UMNO dominates Barisan National with Malays agenda, and MCA and MIC obliged.
