Rough politics in 1 Malaysia

— The Malaysian Insider
Nov 30, 2011

NOV 30 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak wants a high-income and united nation under his 1 Malaysia concept, which is a continuation of the Vision 2020 idea and going back as far as 1971, the Rukun Negara or National Principles.

The Rukun Negara has five principles, namely 1) Belief in God 2) Loyalty to King and Country 3) Upholding the Constitution 4) Sovereignty of the Law and 5) Good Behaviour and Morality.

Number 5 is the basis of what is expected of all Malaysians, more so politicians.

But not today.

Today, Umno state youth chiefs took turns attacking Pakatan Rakyat (PR) parties with a specific focus on DAP, using foul language to accuse the party of systematically eroding the rights of Malays in states like Penang and Kedah.

One leader, Shaik Hussein Mydin, claimed that Malays and Islam were at risk in Penang, and said that PKR and PAS had “no power” to stop the repression of the Malay community there.

“PKR and PAS are ‘bapok’ (transvestites) and ‘pondan’ (effeminate) as these days they have no power to challenge DAP. A vote for DAP is a vote for the destruction of Islam,” said the Penang Umno Youth chief to loud applause and shouts of “PKR, PAS tak ada telur!”

Really? Name calling in politics has reached such a low. And these are the youth that Umno will depend on to perpetuate its dominance and its party president’s 1 Malaysia campaign.

The youth leader also tore at DAP, saying “Under DAP, Malays have become their ‘baruas’. I won’t mince my words, because I mean what I say.

“Anyone who supports DAP is a ‘bangsat’ (bastard),” said Shaik Hussin.

What does using such words say about Umno Youth? Can anyone condone such uncouth behaviour? Is this the way to widen Umno’s appeal to first-time voters? That it is fine to curse and swear in politics and to say that those who don’t support you are bastards?

How 1 Malaysia is this? Fact is, how stupid are those who believe such methods will win them votes?

Najib has gone to great lengths to befriend the youth, to watch football with them, attend concerts, even cycle in Penang, to impart a better image for his party. But it is people like this youth leader who will undermine such efforts.

Of course, Umno’s political foes are no better. But Umno must set the standard. Have any of its previous presidents or leaders of distinction use such uncouth language in the past? Is this the party that wants to continue providing leadership in the most rude of ways?

Umno needs a better crop of future leaders who think before they spew out anything. Otherwise, they are no better than street thugs who should only earn our contempt.

  1. Leadership by examples.
To day…it is all dirty foul words…can use by UMNO b politicians.
    No fear of arrest anymore.
When 13th GE is treated as a war.. a battle against traitors…all you need is to look back and count all the looting and stealing they did.
It is no more an election for them.
They have no more tricks to fool Malaysians.
So…it is bad mouthing…with no fear.
MACC will not dare to act.

  2. When the Nazi and Communist party threw away their pretense and formally made lies the foundation of their plan going forward, it was not because they were desperate but because they had a plan namely war, slave labor and stealing from defeated enemies.

The problem with all these same type of lies UMNO/BN is formally using as the foundation of their plan is the only possible plan that can work is a massive complex distributed electoral cheating. The problem with such an idea is that ITS INSANE and even limited if they don’t want to be caught.

Its not their desperation I worry about but simply their sheer incompetence. You hope they are not committing insane treason. Other than that, the purpose of all these lies simply make NO SENSE..

  3. Most non-malay Malayians are already aware of our past and present social-political consequences if Umno still govern our nation and for that reason Umno/BN is rejected for been an incompetent, racist and rampant corrupted regime. If ever our nation gone bankrupt or beyond means of no return thanks to the support of the majority Malay voters, then, the majority Malay would be the one who should be regarded the unpatriotic who keep on voting Umno/BN till we see the doomed day.

  4. Umno can now only survive by telling lies and hurling malicious allegations against Pakatan especially DAP.Now they are very desperate indeed.Actually Malaysia will become a great nation when Umno/Bn is gone.

  5. Their sense of dignity and morality are completely gone.
They have never exposed their weird behaviors and mentalities… so much before.
This is their leadership by examples to young Malaysians.
This is mamak’s UMNO…..not the original one.

  6. Those are baboons shouting at their opponents… Baboon, we know who they are! You, baboons, need not to judge and decipher for us! It is better for you all baboons crawling back to your mama wormholes and hide inside there silently and permanently, instead of disgracing our nation status and consequently it drives away all foreign investors…

    Baboons, behave yourselves!!!

  7. ///’Surely Shahrizat doesn’t expect the public to be so naive to believe that her family would have got the contract if not for her position in Umno?’///–Malaysiakini

Muhyiddin told UMNO GA that UMNO practices power sharing. The share of Wanita Chief is 250 million ringgit in the name of government project. When a lowly insignificant Wanita chief gets 250 million RM, the more powerful deputy President should have much more. How much is anybody’s guess. For that share, there will be no lack of racist when racism is the entry requirement. UMNO as a racist party would turn saints into devils.

  8. When UmnoBputras claimed 2 speak on behalf of Malays, just remember 2 replace “Malays” with “UmnoB Malays”, a different privileged breed of Malays who cheat on fellow Malays
They r fighting 4 their survival, YES, SURVIVAL as SOLE PREDATORS n king/queen PARASITES under d guise of NEP 2 enrich themselves
Just look at d reaction of UmnoB Wanita – NOTHING WRONG with their big boss n family getting SUPER RICH through COWgate, OK 1
Furthermore, they WISH they n their families too hv d SAME OPPORTUNITY 2 instant $$, n they LAMENT dat they DO NOT hv $$ opportunities as their male counterparts
TRULY A DEN of THIEVES n PARASITES abusing NEP

  9. ///Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin in his winding-up speech has urged aspiring candidates to stop using gleaming reports from government agencies to lobby for seats.///–Malaysiakini

In almost all democracies, people stand for elective offices to offer their services to the nation. In Malaysia, UMNO members vying for elective posts must be really selfless to resort to all possible means to get nominated. With such selfless representatives democracy in the country must be the best and corruption which is antithesis to democracy would not survive. But Malaysia is one of the most corrupted country in the world, if not the worst. The most talked about example is that of Malaysian government allocating a 250 million ringgit project to the family of Wanita chief, on the qualification that she held that party position. That is using government funds to fulfill power sharing arrangements in the party. Yet the same Wanita chief was able to win standing ovation in UMNO GA for using foul language against whistle-blower. It shows that the people inside the hall, the wanita leaders of all shape and sizes, could not distinguish between right and wrong. They certainly hoped that a similar large amount of government funds might go their way in the future. They take corruption as the expected rewards. That is why all UMNO leaders want to be candidates for elective office.

Everybody in UMNO GA knows that without access to corruptions, they would not even be bothered to be in the hall. Why did Khairy pretend that his words would stop the fight for position? Was he trying to get his own nomination?

  10. UmnoBputras, SELFLESS services 2 d nation? LOL!
    http://www.freemalaysiakini.com/?p=5104
Here is an UmnoB Wanita rep fr Pg who COMPLAINED dat most of d gomen projects hv gone 2 d MEN, n she openly urged d UmnoB/BN gomen 2 allocate projects 2 members of UmnoB Wanita
She even DEMANDED dat d directorships in GLCs b allocated 4 d women
When UmnoB Wanita knew what their boss n family did, they really LAU NUA drooling n WISH dat each of them too can get hold of MILLIONS of soft-loans (= FREE GIFTS)

  11. The most democratic PM in the world delivered his Annual party speech…how undemocratic PAS…keDAILan and DAP are.
    Go and read the details.
Throughout his speech……..not one word to get rid of corruptions.

  12. For keDAILan…he said..husband got power…wife and daughter also got power.
Then he said…no need to talk about DAP la.
For PAS….he said an unelected..old man more powerful than the President.
PS: Does that not sound familiar in UMNO B?
He totally and utterly ignored ALL are elected by the People…not one is appointed from back doors..and PAS is a spiritual party….a party to prick Muslims conscience. ..to travel the right path.
aiya….talk so much..what is the use.
Declare 13th GE date…..he dare not.

  13. Najib says: UMNO is not racist. UMNO is responsible for the social stability presently in the country”.

    Hi Jib, what stability?

Aiya, even Mahathir says there is instability now, more now than ever.

What Jib meant was: “UMNO is racist. UMNO is responsible for the social instability presently.”

  14. k1980, #21: thanks for Shahrizat’s photos.

1Conclusion: desperate cow minister waging a bullfight in her own ring.

    Hello Zat apa? Zat Duit-lah.

How can anyone be so stupid to say that what my husband and children did with RM250 million handout from the government has nothing to do with me? Any wife sleeping with her husband would have pillow talk or sleeptalk & will know almost everything.

If Zat can say she did not know what her husband and children did, I will offer myself to be that cow that jumps over the moon, ok?

  15. Don’t ever mention the RUKUNEGARA again! It is a bloody disgrace! Why are these people only referring to the FIVE PRINCIPLES in the Rukunegara and they also just printed these five principles at the back of school exercise books when the RUKUNEGARA not only consists of these 5 principles?

What happened to the preamble? What have they done to the RUKUNEGARA? Mutilated it? Censored it? Or have they CASTRATED it? The very reason the preamble was omitted was due to the existence of these words “MEMBINA SATU MASYARAKAT ADIL” or building a just society! It is for fear that the younger generation of non-Malays may question the existence of a SUPERIOR RACE in a JUST SOCIETY!

Anyway, wasn’t the Rukunegara a piece of legislation passed by Parliament? Then who had the right, except Parliament itself, to censor, mutilate or castrate the RUKUNEGARA! Has Parliament given its approval for such censorship, mutilation or castration?

  16. Too sad to see another muslim country in the edge of downfall ….well to speakup positively for the sake of future generations survival.
If religious and ethnic divisions are set aside, All Malaysians regardless of race religion could come together as 1Malaysia.

……”” practically under Umno Racial Ruling its ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE””
Look ,today globalised countries where religious differences define the politics, DEMOCRACY has no chance
Democracy is in stark conflict with the essence of 1Malaysia Najib Dictator autocratic Majority Race culture, which is the allegiance based on religion.
To ALL Rakyat Malaysia……Wind of Change
LETS UNITED AS ONE NATION Building Bricks AND VOTE PAKATAN RAKYAT THIS COMING ELECTION LETS SING TOGETHER >>Mari kita rakyat MALAYSIA Sama-sama menuju bahagia
    Cita-cita kita yang mulia
    BerjayaMALAYSIA Marilah kita bersatu
    Dengan semangat yang baru
    Semua kita berseru
Majulah MALAYSIA …..No more Negara ku its irrevelent.

  17. Najib’s words to the UMNO GA

///KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak came to Umno’s defence today, saying his party is not racist and that it is in fact responsible for the country’s current “social stability.”///–MalaysianInsider

If UMNO is not racist, why is UMNO keeping NEP? If UMNO considers that NEP was needed for stability, then Najib should replace Bumiputras with non-Bumiputras in the way NEP had been implemented. If UMNO is not racist why should it insists Malays should be the beneficiaries and non-Malays the victims in NEP implementation? If UMNO is not racist why would UMNO government keep Bumiputras in the position to gain the main benefits and that non-Malays can only hope to get crumbs from the spillovers, as admitted by Muhyiddin?

///The Umno president said the Malay party had willingly co-operated with component Barisan Nasional parties MCA and MIC for a “bigger purpose” back in the 1950s to form a government and gain independence.///–Najib

UMNO then had Tunku Abdul Rahman as the President. UMNO now is not even the same party which founded in 1946. What was done in the past may not indicate what is being done, when the President now had the record of wanting to dip Keris in Chinese blood.

///”It has been proven from a long time back, Umno is not a racist organisation.

“Umno is in reality a catalyst of the co-operative spirit between races which finally created social stability and brought about national harmony,” Najib (picture) said in his presidential address at the Umno general assembly here.///–Najib

Social stability and national harmony that Najib claims serve only to describe that there is no riots in the country right now. The fact remains that Malaysians chose to migrate, and the percentage of the persons doing so is more dominant among the non-Malays say that there is racial problems in the country. That has only happened when Tunku Abdual Rahman was forced to leave after a coup d’etat. Yet Najib is claiming that the government would pursue Tunku’s policies when the person who opposed Tunku was none other than his late father.

///The prime minister has repeatedly pleaded to Umno delegates to adopt a more moderate approach, but his pleas appear to have gone unheeded.

Party conservatives have already been roused over the past two days by speeches demonising Pakatan Rakyat as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, “agents of Christianisation”, “bapok” (transvestites), “bangsat” (bastards) and “pondan” (effeminate).///–MalaysianInsider

The only way to get ahead in UMNO is to show that one is a racist. Mamakthir as a non-pure Indian got into position in UMNO as ultras. That is the winning formula, and whoever gets to the top call the shots. Purity in the blood is not important. Besides political entrepreneurship in UMNO is the most rewarding pursuit, immoral though it is. The three VPs could pretend that they were willing to step down if they were not winnable. One should check their records. One VP waived the keris in UMNO GA!

///Najib said in 1955, during the country’s first election before independence, Umno had already shown its “sincerity” in sharing power among other races by ceding Malay-majority seats to other component parties.///–Najib

Tunku Abdual Rahman showed his sincerity. But his successor, Tun Razak started racial polarization in the country. He began with fielding only Malays in FELDA scheme, before May 13. He then had Tunku removed and he introduced NEP which kills the country, though some Malays became billionaires.

///”Umno was willing (even) back then to vote candidates not from their own race, for a bigger purpose, for winning elections, forming a government and then independence,” he added.///–Najib

That was how corruption began. The non-Malays were bought with the meagre sums of allowances as MPs, and they voted with UMNO. MCA keeps the tradition and MCA will be finished off in the coming general election.

  18. k1980 :
Had TBH been investigated not by the macc but by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar, he would had been alive today. This is because if there is no CBT involving that mamak’s RM250,000,000, then nothing to query over TBH’s RM2,000.
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/cops-say-no-cbt-in-nfc-discovered-so-far/

There might be a rule for the IGP to follow. Any sums above 1 million ringgit involving UMNO politicians cannot be classified as CBT.

  19. ///KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — Umno’s accusations that the DAP is anti-Malay spread to Parliament today when a lawmaker accused the opposition party of starting the May 13, 1969 race riots.///–Malaysiakini

It might be true that the procession to celebrate breaking Alliance’s two-third majority hold in the 1969 general election offered the people who had vested interest to start the riots now known as May 13. But was NEP which came about after May 13 a bane to Malays who would rather see it removed? That cannot be true since Najib said that after 40 years, NEP is still needed. If NEP had been that useful and it came about after May 13, then UMNO should thank NEP for giving its leaders the excuse to bring about May 13, and with it NEP. Why should UMNO be such a hypocrite to blame DAP for starting May 13 and yet would enjoy NEP to the extent that it is like oxygen to its survival?

  20. Umno youth leader in Penang, Shaik Hussein Mydin must be remembered by all for his foul language. In fact, all Umnoputras who are extreme must be remembered for what the seditious speeches they make.
No other politicians in the world can match them in such behaviour !

  21. Walking shoes..caps and raincoats… will sell like hot cakes.
Some walking cane too for old folks like me.
Walk peacefully.. we must…to defy the Bill.
    Freedom has no options.
The more Najib tries to limit freedom…the more People Power will rebel ….peacefully..with no fear…and not fall into his low class traps.

  22. When some of Umno delegates said that the DAP) were anti Malays and were agents of Christianisation and also the cause of May 13; when Umno Youth were told to ‘defend’ Shahrizat in NFC scandal, it showed that they were no more bothered about truth, logic, civility in political contestation, appearances of propriety in governance, spirit of 1 Malaysia, Christian or even multi racial votes…..Nothing else matters – except securing its traditional constituency, Malay votes…..This must necessarily proceed on the veritable assumption (true or not remains to be seen) that if they try hard enough, majority of Malay votes will be given, notwithstanding all shortcomings of governance, which alone will be secure electoral victory in GE 13 – in contrast to non-Malay votes, which no matter how hard they try to keep up to appearances, UMNO/BN will not secure them!

  23. This is unfortunate as never before has the country been more polarized by this kind of “rough” politicking just before a crucial imminent GE! The other side effect of racial rhetoric is to set the tone and re-affirm Ketuanan to pose a challenge to party president, Najib and put him in dilemma. If he makes an inclusive policy statement in the assembly, he will be seen as going against the general mood of majority of delegates and hence lose their support. If on the contrary he goes with the flow and supports their position, his main policy plank of 1 Malaysia will sound even more hollow and be discredited in the eyes of his other country men, and his liberal image against extremism, dealt a devastating blow in the eyes of the foreigners on the international stage! Either way he has been maneuvered to an unenviable position between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! .
