Perverse logic, baffling statement

OCT 26 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had amazingly stated that if Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng “thinks it is important to correct the information, then he has to come up with a strong statement…Mere denial is not enough”.

The Penang chief minister had rubbished this fraudulent allegation in the strongest possible terms. He had not minced his words in condemning this false allegation. In castigating the pro-Umno blogs that spread this false allegation, he had strongly condemned their nefarious conduct as “morally despicable and barbaric lies”.

The chief minister also challenged Umno to act against those guilty of this to prove that the party does not employ “desperate, dangerous and dirty tactics.” He also condemned several Umno leaders for highlighting “this shameful episode” in their blogs. He had referred to these characters as “pro-Umno ferocious beasts”.

Aren’t these strong words that had taken to task these unsavoury characters, dear DPM? Frankly, are these words mere denial, Mr DPM? Ask anyone and you will be told that these words are uttered with disgust and they convey a terrible outrage of a person overcome with grief and anger. These are certainly strong words that show utter contempt for these lies.

For the DPM not to know of the chief minister’s ferocious reactions to this false and malicious lie is unbelievable! For him not to know the truth when he made his astounding statement is also baffling.

The principal of the school concerned — SMK Heng Ee — Goh Boon Poh, had publically stated that he was shocked by the allegation against Lim Guan Eng’s son and had dismissed it as “completely untrue”.

Further, the alleged victim had categorically stated in a statement to all the press that she has not been to Malaysia for the last seven years and that the only way in which her “modesty was outraged has been the publication of my picture in connection with these scurrilous and unfounded rumours”.

In spite of all this evidence to refute and rebut these malicious and baseless allegations, the DPM doesn’t seem to know what the truth is. His logic is perverse and his statement is baffling.

When rumours were swirling around linking our prime minister to Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shaariibuu, which the PM had denied, would the DPM now dare to remark, “Mere denial is not enough”?

  1. He is just playing for time– Datuk T has promised to quickly complete filming a videoclip of the whole incident by this weekend. The filming was delayed due to the difficulty in getting a suitable actress to play Ann.

  2. Dear Guan Eng,
Yes. Mere denial is not strong enough. Calling the statement a lie is a waste of saliva. Condemning the blogs and bloggers is too mild. Expressions of shocks and disgust means nothing. Take muhideen advise use stronger words like: Phark you and mudderpharkers and sob of bitch. These are more appropriate words. Definite suitable for the occasion.

  3. ///…he (LGE) has to come up with a strong statement…Mere denial is not enough/// – Muhyiddin. One has to look in context what the DPM meant by “strong” in relation to LGE’s statement. DPM’s subsequent remarks threw light that he did not intend usage of the word “strong” as a reference to strong words of disgust and revulsion accompanying the denial. After all can one find expressions of disgust stronger than LGE’s “morally despicable barbaric lies” by “pro-Umno ferocious beasts”??? “Strong” as opposed to “weak” to Muhyuddin does not mean mere expression of strong disgust but that which principally incorporates the element of Verifiability Of Its Truth. [In his book “Language, Truth and Logi” Professor Ayer defines truth as the criterion by which empirical propositions are validated]. A “strong” statement/denial to Muhyuddin is one Which Contains Or Suggests Within Itself a Practical Means Of Verification of that which it states – which in his view, is the invitation to police to investigate the truth or falsity of the allegations!

  4. To me its not baffling at all. The perversion is secondary. It simply is LOW-STANDARDS – a standard not good enough for him to hold office if it was based on merit. Certainty disqualifies him from higher office. Certaintly not good enough to face the current challenges of his portfolio of education and the challenges this country faces and more to be faced soon enough.

Its simply very easy to understand plain bad…

  5. Of course where he is not logical is that he assumes that the police is an independent verification source acceptable to all whilst large sections / detractors think this institution politically right wing and beholdened to incumbent govt as paymasters and political masters in the wake of Dzaddin’s RCI’s recommendations of IPCMC & what happened in MACC precincts with the rare distinction of two “sucidal deaths”! The fact is the public testimonies of SMK Heng Ee’s principal as buttressed by his own Ministry’s findings & Anya Sun Corke are independent and ought acceptable to both sides of political divide and as such constitute sufficient exculpatory evidence for vindication of the young man to dispense any need for further police investigation to determine the truth or otherwise! This should be obvious to him but yet it is denied perhaps because as what Cinapek earlier posted it was an oblique taunt at bare denial relating to Altantuya’s matter which the counter part had climbed the moral high horse by saying “keep family out of politics”. This kind of talk seeming directed at LGE may be directed at someone else. Thats the way they always talk/snipe by tangential statements and oblique references. Perhaps some of you think that stupid but they think its clever!

  6. Footnote to prceding post (currently under moderation): In UMNOputra talk it is alwys calculated ambiguous and elliptical and doubled edge: whilst directed at a party rival it could on challnge of disloyalty be construed/defended as being directed at opposition for the party’s cause. So statements are crafted to kill 2 or maybe more birds with one stone and throw! They have thought considerably on how to craft such statements. Up to you whether you think that clever cunning or stupid.
