There is nothing more unprincipled or dishonourable than to reduce the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor Mentri Besar crisis into a game of numbers when the greatest challenge facing PAS, PKR and DAP leaders is to restore the badly-damaged public trust and confidence in the Pakatan Rakyat through a reaffirmation of the PR common policy platform and principles of justice, freedom, accountability, transparency and good governance as the basis of new politics in Malaysia.
It is most repugnant and obnoxious for anyone to try to fish in the troubled waters of the PR Selangor MB crisis by entertaining the proposition that Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim join PAS or DAP so that PAS or DAP can lay a claim to the post of Selangor Mentri Besar, even with Khalid continuing as Selangor Mentri Besar.
No self-respecting political party or political leader would ever consider such a dishonourable proposition which would be the final straw to destroy all public credibility in the Pakatan Rakyat and I am most gratified that all the three Pakatan Rakyat component parties of PAS, PKR and DAP have reaffirmed their commitment to Pakatan Rakyat after the expulsion of Khalid from PKR yesterday.
This is the time to save Pakatan Rakyat, when PR leaders, whether from PAS, PKR and DAP must exercise even greater discipline to demonstrate their commitment to the principles and objectives of Pakatan Rakyat, and not to do or say anything which could be used by the enemies of Pakatan Rakyat to undermine and destroy the alternative political coalition, which won 52 per cent of the popular vote in the 13th General Elections in May last year, winning three state governments of Kelantan, Penang and Selangor, 89 Parliamentary seats and 229 State Assembly seats in 12 states (not including Sarawak).
Undoubtedly, Pakatan Rakyat is faced with its worst crisis since its formation after the 12th General Elections in April 2008 and whether PR can survive and resolve the Selangor MB crisis in the shortest possible time will depend on the political integrity and sense of honour of PR leaders to stay true and loyal to the original principles and aspirations in the formation of Pakatan Rakyat “to uphold the rights and interests of all Malaysians, regardless of religion or race, as enshrined in the Constitution”.
Selangor wanted a proper administrator, an experienced manager. We did not vote for a housewife to be MB, and we know who she takes orders from. We are not blind. And he is going to jail.
Do you guys even understand what it takes to administer a state like Selangor ? I think so many of us are shattered by Pakatan’s shallow thinking.
What PKR is showing is their UMNO DNA. All they want are state allocations. Spend to buy votes for their own party positions. And DAP gets sucked into this problem.
If Khalid gets the consent of the Sultan to dissolve the state assembly, I can assure you that (a) PKR will disintegrate (b) either DAP or PAS will leave Pakatan (c) Pakatan will lose Selangor to BN. Those who supported a two party system will be so shattered that many will not bother to participate in the voting process again.
You guys are finished. Supporting PKR’s aspersions on Khalid without any concrete evidence or giving him time to explain. PKR has shown its true colours and you guys just didn’t do the right thing: innocent until proven guilty.
The problem is with PKR’s top leadership and their no problem of sworn allegiance of their yes men aduns and MP’s to the you know who.
The Selangor MB crisis should not have happen in the first place. It is a power struggle for the 3 billion reserves in the state’s coffers.
If only Khalid can be led by the nose like a yesman,he will be the MB for as long as he wants. That is if PR can hold onto the state forever.
No Sir, Selangor is not about Khalid. It is not about You and Me. It is about Selangoreans and what they have voted for. Khalid must not be made to look bigger than the cause itself.
Of note is the position of MB as being appointed, not an elected one. The appointment is the sole prerogative of the party (in this case, the PKR) given the mandate, and it remains so at its pleasure at any given time. Consensus here is a mere formality. The party is not obliged to offer any reasons for its withdrawal of this privilege(s) at any point of time it deems fit to do so except where in the case of professional negligence or gross misconduct for disciplinary action to be taken against the incumbent.
What we have here are two sides of the same coin. In the case of PKR, it could have pushed the envelope too far too soon with its “No holds barred” session which I feel was totally unnecessary as insubordination alone by itself is sufficient ground for dismissal.
As for YB Khalid, what can we say about him? He has shown his mettle by single handedly taking Pakatan to its worst disaster – something which UMNO/BN have failed to do so. Who is calling the shots? The Pied Piper of Darul Ehsan?
No, it wasn’t the pied piper of Darul Ehsan, it was the pied piper of Permatang Pauh who, realising he was going to jail, decided to seize the post and allow his wife to warm the seat. He wanted a more compliant MB, and we all know what “compliance” means in UMNO lingo – give allocations or contracts to division chiefs so that they can continue to hold on to their posts.
One way to test whether the Selangorians are happy with a housewife managing Malaysia’s richest state is to call for elections, and we will see what happens. So many are disillusioned with PKR and with DAP for not seeing the wood from the trees.
Anwar and rafizi are turning pr into a joke. His lust for power is burning Selangor and ge14.
If the charges against him are false; surely he can prove them wrong. My perception is after over 30 plus years of half-truths, sloganeering and using all kinds of half-past six devices to ensure individual survival notwithstanding all the wrongs the nation has undergone; it is NOT a surprise that Khalid has acted in this manner. The main leadership as a whole has proven that to ‘cheat’ is not as bad as it seems; so long that one can stay in power. Taking Khalid as the sum total of what a Malaysian can achieve in life; he was definitely deem to be in the top 5% of the Malay Society in every sense of the word. And yet, he has decided to put aside all his pride and respect that he has earned in Selangor. Why? My contention is the expectations of this nation are so low that even the very best of our politicians cannot measure up and will fail us! This is the standard we have created and we will live and perhaps grind back to the bottom quadrant of the world parade! Soon. Very soon!
Listen to what you are saying: Khalid has to prove them wrong ! What have we become ? A nation where one is guilty until he proves himself innocent ? A party which decries the haste of the sodomy hearing and yet gives Khalid 3 days to answer the aspersions cast upon him ? PKR has shown its true colours and the sickening thing is that DAP has thrown in its lot with this spineless party.
Even if all the charges against Khalid is true, the way PR has handled it, especially Anwar and Azmin, means they have to go to. How is it that all the charges against Khalid, he has not been able to discuss openly between the top leaders of PKR and PR..
Its a complete failure of the party and ultimately falls on Anwar and Azmin, both have to go with Khalid or it will never stop..
I don’t want Wan Azizah as MB, with Anwar pulling the strings from prison. I don’t want Azmin as MB either. So the best option is to have new polls and let the Selangorians decide.
Is Pakatan ready to face the voters. It’s easy for Rafizi to say that PKR is willing to take the risk since they are not getting anything from Khalid, but DAP should know the implications better. Once you lose the state, it’s not going to be easy to get it back.
I can see the umno/BN vultures hovering above waiting for PR to gasp its one final breathe before feasting on the 3billion reserve.
Very SAD situation 4 ordinary folks – dis nation does not have many honorable citizens 2 lead
Both UmnoB/BN n PR r FAILED political parties n unions, n r infested with cheats
No wonder, dis nation continues 2 self-destroy
Citizens better learn 2 look after themselves, somehow
Remember what UMNO did to Anwar? Don’t forget to avenge Anwar. Teach UMNO now, or never! Before long, any serious threat to the people in the corridors of power will be met by sodomy accusations. Mee-sodom galore! And the Chief Cook of this dish is still alive and kicking, constantly in the news by means of astounding conspiracy theories.
Avenge Anwar! Support Azizah!
