Karpal was unquestionably unique
A gentle giant among lawyers and politicians
Relentlessly reaching for justice within a weaken judiciary
Playing the game despite rigged rules and changing goal posts
Always hoping against hope that a new dawn will deliver
Light despite the constraints of a limited democracy
Such was his lifelong quest fighting for others less versed in law
Indomitable in spirit and against the odds he persistently prevailed
Not counting the personal costs he fought for all Malaysians
Giving his time and energy to achieve a Malaysian Malaysia
His life is thus a challenge and call to all Malaysians to achieve his dream.
Zul Nordin now calling Karpal his friend proves that most of UMNO/BN praise and respect of Karpal is merely further narcissism to wash themselves with the decency and greatness of Karpal and an admission that they belong to a cesspool that they make and drag us all in, and they can never wash themselves off and nagging fear they will all ultimately be buried in it, which is our duty to honor Karpal by realizing their worst fears..
sorry for repeated posting. I hope this may catch the eyes of some of the heavy weight politicians.
I propose to establish the Karpal Singh Award, given annually to an individual who fights and contributed to the justice and freedom of Malaysia. Such an award would best be awarded through the legal institution(s). I hope this idea will materialise.
Karpal’s death raises the spirit amongst us to fight for change several levels higher.
In my view, the two greatest political heroes in Malaysia are Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh, with Anwar later joining them as a team. But with current political atmosphere, I honestly did not expect Karpal to be loved and respected by so many people, even with the politicians from the other side of the border. Karpal must also be very surprised if he could see it, so was Kit Siang, I supposed. A lesson we learned is, if one does good work for the people and country according to his heart, he/she would be remembered forever by the people.
