All disciplinary action against SGMM chief Nor Izzat and all teachers who criticised SBA should be immediately withdrawn

With the suspension of the controversial School-Based Assessment (SBA), the Education Ministry should also revoke all disciplinary action against Suara Guru Masyarakat Malaysia (SGMM) chief Mohd Nor Izzat Mohd Johari and all teachers who criticised the SBA.

The heavy-handed response by the Education Ministry to penalise Nor Izzat and teachers who have come forward to criticise the SBA is totally uncalled for and unjustifiable and must be deplored as a very mean and cowardly manner to suppress legitimate criticism in the education service.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should give his personal attention to ensure that all disciplinary actions against Nor Izzat and teachers who had criticised the SBA should be revoked immediately.

The SBA fiasco transforming teachers into data entry clerks, forcing teachers to get up at 2 or 2 am just to input the grades of students because of online network problems, should be an expensive lesson in the so-called educational transformation of the country.

Nor Izzat and all teachers who had come forward to criticise the SBA should be invited by the Education Ministry to participate in the evaluation of the SBA to date.

The SBA woes is a reflection of the pitfalls and disasters awaiting the so-called educational transformation in the country, based on an educational blueprint outsourced to highly-paid foreign consultants instead of being a product of local educational experts.

Muhyiddin should give a full report to Parliament next month on the SBA fiasco and disaster.

  1. The ruling elites can run the country as a police state. As long as the PR politicians are kept busy fighting amongst themselves,Umnoputras can do whatever they like.Until the PR get their acts together, there is no party strong enough to kick these bullies out.

  2. Honestly, Y waste time criticising SBA
Can’t BEAT them, JOIN them lor n HUUUATTTTT aaah

Join polis officers n many other civil servants + frens of Perkosa-UmnoB/BN, KOREK here, korek there, easily am@ss a few million RM
Goyang kaki lah, better than goyang kepala

  3. The government can:

    1. bully because it is a big bully and is in a position to bully using all the resources available, so there
    2. transfer these people because it is ‘legal’ for them to do so and has ‘followed’ all SOPs (whatever they are); all the teachers are insignificant statistics and pawns and should not think at all, just obey
    3. move to silence these critics because it, the government, has no proper answer or response to the criticisms and does not know what to do
    4. and does ‘know’ what is ‘best’ and its policies must not be challenged; no one better contradict it even when it, the government, its ministers and senior officials, are plainly wrong or are put in embarrassing positions

If anyone does not like it here, they can migrate to North Korea or Zimbabwe where the grass, if there is any there, is greener.

  5. Muhyiddin says the transfer order and decision did not come from him and he does not know anything about. Maybe a small, more powerful ‘little’ Napoleon is responsible he suggests. Nor is he interested or want to do something about it. His Ministry is just falling apart and is now a joke. Pity all the teachers in this country who fear being given 24 hours transfers to Ulu Hutan or some remote Felda settlement. When will there be a Teachers’ Spring?

  6. God has mercy on the Rakyat and save this Nation by delivering us from the gripped of these parriiaaahs put in placed ( just by being Bumnos ) to govern this Nation. And to finally detached completely from the iron-grip of this Mamak !.
We need God Blessing to save this Nation.

  7. Mr Lim,

I have several friends who are teachers and not one of them have anything good to say about SBA and yes, some of them are BN voters!!

The most common remark is quote, “Bloody waste of time”, unquote.
