Fatal mistake for Pakatan Rakyat parties to assume that the Kajang by-election is a walkover with Anwar as candidate

The Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional Chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday that the Barisan Nasional (BN) is going into the Kajang by-election as the underdog but pledges to work doubly hard to ensure the best possible outcome.

It will be a fatal mistake for Pakatan Rakyat parties to assume that the Kajang by-election is a walkover with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the candidate.

It is imperative that the Pakatan Rakyat parties of PKR, PAS and DAP speak with one voice and act as one unit not only to secure victory for Anwar in the by-election on March 23, but with a convincing majority greater than the majority won in the 13th general elections on May 5, 2013.

Every vote in the Kajang by-election must be fought and won and not taken for granted.

The Kajang by-election will be contested by MCA, which is holding an extraordinary general meeting tomorrow.

The first thing the new MCA leadership of Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Wee Ka Siong must explain, whether to the voters of Kajang or to the people of Malaysia, is why they had fully supported the stand that MCA should stay out of the Cabinet in three MCA general assemblies – in 2011 and 2012 and the EGM in October last year, and are now doing a somersault.

Will the new Liow-Wee MCA leadership apologise not only to the Chinese in Malaysia but to all Malaysians for this disgraceful and dishonourable “attempted blackmail” of the Chinese voters in the 13GE which failed miserably, and a second apology for changing their stand after three MCA general assemblies, exposing their utter lack of principles and being fully steeped in political opportunism?

  1. MCA can do anything it wants, nobody gives a shit! Only the fools do. MCA is no Mendala!

The last time CMF tried to frighten the voters in PJ Utara with 513, they sent her packing. This time they will bury her for good if she dares!

  2. There is a critical number that voters will look at Kajang election – what the Malay votes will be. How Anwar win the Malay votes will tell them a lot about the prospect of PR itself. If Anwar cannot win significant number of Malay votes on the onset, its not likely even if he did well as Selangor MB, the Malay votes will change enough in the heartland of Felda and votes of Sarawak and Sabah to win Putrajaya..

If Anwar think that he can get away merely just theorizing that the Malay votes will swing to Pakatan if he did well as Selangor MB, the voters of Kajang will be the first to testify come GE-14.

  3. Now you know who are those Trojans deployed to pull the Malay and Indian votes away from PKR. As for MCA, well this is pretty obvious. But Chinese votes for this embarrassment party will be close to zilch.

  4. It may be too easy for Anwar given Najib is too easy a punching bag – AFTER the whole Kangkung fiasco, he opens his mouth for more Kangkung statement – BR1M to continue when things are going well – implying when times are bad the govt will take it away? What is the point of handouts that dissappears when times are bad?

If Najib & Co keep doing and saying kangkung things, Anwar could stroll in this one..

  5. FREE fried beehoon n possibly $$$$ ($$$$ politics mah) will b given 2 all Kajang residents by d MSiA/BN candidate, staunchly supported by Perkosa-UmnoB
Malays constitute d highest % of Kajang voters n they can MAKE or BREAK AI’s chance of erection
Anything is possible in politics n fed up Kajang voters may decide 2 teach AI n PKR/PR a proper LESSON

  6. They’ll use the racial slur for sure. Eg. to the Chinese, they’ll pit them against voting for AI. And on the flip-end they’ll say they’re getting the Malay votes for Char Mee Hoon – a Chinese. Whatever, Bumno’s only way is the racial slant tactic. How to expect them to campaign on ‘bread-butter’ issues – will become ‘kangkung’ then, or to base on other real, actual issues affecting the Nation and Rakyat.
( one aspect rather intriguing is Y MB Khalid is holding back doing more for Selangor when the financial figures showed more can and should be done. ) Y Y Y MB Khalid, why ? this already second term – waiting for what ? reverse takeover ? ???

  7. AFTER 6 years in power in S’gor, WHAT hv PR/DAP/PAS/PKR 2 show 2 rakyat n residents?

Perkosa n UmnoB going all out 2 persuade voters in Kajang 2 VOTE 4 a NON-Malay candidate fr MSiA, d char beehoon kaki, HOW lovely

  8. By biggest issue with so called Kajang-move is simply this – Najib clearly revealed in his launching of BR1M that his entire career is staked on implementation of GST necessary to fund UMNO/BN buying of next General Election. If PR can derail GST, then its clear Najib’s career will end and ending UMNO/BN rule is very very much much more certain.

But instead, this Kajang move, done supposedly to be a “platform” to raise PKR and PR political capital sounds more like a step backward when the better target is in front of them.

Najib is in the hole with BR1M, its time to tie it to GST. Why is it not?
