Police must explain why it practises double-standards in the handling of the Father Lawrence and Harussani cases

The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has said that the police have taken a statement from the Perak Mufti Harussani Zakaria on his remark that it is permissible to spill the blood of those who protested in the New Year’s Eve anti-price hike rally.

But the Police must explain why it practises double-standards in the handling of the Father Lawrence and Harussani case.

There is no doubt that swift and drastic action would have been taken against Father Lawrence if he had said anything about spilling blood, but the same urgency is absent in the Harussani case.

The police have recommended that Father Lawrence Andrews, the editor of the Herald, be charged with sedition but the police must explain why it has not made similar recommendation for the prosecution of Harussani.

The Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said today that no decision has been made on the sedition investigation against Father Lawrence.

Would he inquire of the police as to what has happened to its investigation against Harussani?

The Police, the Attorney-General and the whole administration of justice must not only be fair but must be seen to be fair.

Unfortunately, this is not the case in recent years and decades, especially during the 22-year premiership of Tun Dr. Mahathir and this is why public confidence in the administration of justice, which included the judiciary, the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Police, has suffered such a major blow in the nation’s history.

  1. I don’t think they ever interviewed or investigated the gangster Mufti.
It was just a bluff announcement to placate non-Muslims. If indeed he was ‘interviewed’ why was the law under which he was ‘interviewed’ not mentioned.

  2. who is now in control of this country?
does the government want to hand over the power to the royal family? if the prime minister keeps sleeping, i afraid the royal family will gain more control

  3. Hidup Harussani ! Hidup Bumno jenis Islam ! Hidup 1Kangaroo regime ! In fact under Bumno regime there is no such fair justice to be seen.Only shit justice can be seen and yes,you could probably find them plenty by now in NFCcondos.Or are they already been swept under Putrajaya’s carpet ? This same treatment will be accorded to Harussani as well but for poor Father Lawrence,he has to depend on the will of A1lah..God bless Father Lawrence

  4. look at sibu that is mostly chinese town. the bukit aman always appointed a non-sibu, non-sarawakian, no knowledge of mandarin or dialects, and parachuted the person to be police superintendent of sibu. this is like appointing a sultan and will do zero help to reinforce the law in sibu. this kind of appointing bumiputra as sultan in all government offices is doing zero help for the country. you can definitely find many more qualified local sibu people to take the job.

  5. This is no time for question. You won’t get an answer for sure. They want to play it to the hilt, to put the country under siege for something that is even more sinister about to take place. It’s about a mischievous plot with a hidden agenda. It’s about a return to Mahathirism! Attention has just been shifted to Penang, so be warned!

The PM himself, I feel, is being rendered subservient as of now. It is quite apparent he is unable or unwilling to act at defusing the tensions.

  6. Rakyat dah tahu lah, DOUBLE standards of Perkosa-UmnoB/BN’s agencies
    Lagi, mata2 a true believer/practitioner of Voltaire:
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the DEATH your RIGHT to say it.”
    Perak Mufti, special mah
Even sultan n raja muda kept elegant silence over what spewed out fr mufti’s orifice

  7. That is why there is so much spilling of blood in Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, and Somalia. People like this local mufti are the cause. What’s all these un-Malaysian talk of spilling blood? And fellows on T.V. dressed in traditional warrior costumes threatening frail Father Andrew! Enough of this nonsense, please.
