The Youth and Sports Ministry spent RM1.6 million to bring in three South Korean pop groups for the National Youth Day celebrations last year, in contrast to the claim that the cost had been covered by sponsors.
The Auditor-General’s Report revealed yesterday that the money came from the government’s coffers.
The three K-pop groups – U-Kiss, Teen-Top and Dal Shabet – were brought in by Stadium First Sdn Bhd.
A ministry official had reportedly said then that the bill was paid by sponsors.
The report also found the ministry overspending RM1.11 million on promotion and publicity for the event.
The department reprimanded the ministry for spending RM48,300 on a “working visit” to Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara in Jitra, as well as to Songkhla, Phuket and Krabi in Thailand, for 21 people on the National Youth Day secretariat as well as senior officers.
It was also reported that the ministry spent RM75,966 on a promotional dinner, hi-tea and lodging for journalists at hotels.
The report classified several costs as “very high”, including RM50,000 paid to 50 bloggers and company management, and another RM50,000 for promotion and publicity.
Three bloggers were paid a total of RM7,500 in daily allowance for five days’ of coverage.
The ministry also spent RM3.32 million for one million Rakan Muda membership cards, and yet the programme was discontinued in July last year. – October 2, 2013.
The real issue is whether UMNO/BN are just habitual liars or pathological liars. They really don’t seem to care when it becomes evident so its definitely habitual. But I think they like doing, they can’t help themselves. Its compulsive. PSYCHOTIC..
The crux of the matter is that this government has nincomp**ps running the show, from the PM downwards, even during Mahathir’s time. It’s been the same for decades – from the time when maggi mee costs a fortune to present-day scanners that cost an arm and a leg.
Why are there such perennial idiots in the government?
When Malaysians do not even trust the government, how can you expect foreigners to trust them – like for e.g., foreigners don’t even want to buy Malaysian government bonds now. Why? Is it like toilet paper?
Can someone send Najib and Mahthir a copy of the Singapore Auditor-Genral’s report?
Does S’pore IGP say guns floated into the sea? What a brainless IGP we have!
So the Minister bluffed us all when he was question on his extravagance. He should resign!
What about the truth is UMNO is not even a Malay party anymore as displayed in Parliament today? And they say DAP has no tulen Malay…LOL…
That is why they raised the price of petrol to cover the expenditure.
Don’t be surprised that free food and drinks offered by BN during GE13 were paid for using taxpayers’ money.
They will get anyone and everyone to pay back including their own people.
Goodness gracious me!!
The litany of suspect dealings by this BN govt is never ending and I cannot keep up with what is being revealed.
But, of cos, Razali Ibrahim has told the world that any corruption is merely my perception and that less than 5% of Malaysians have seen a bribe change hands.
Well, well, well.
To think that even after all sorts of corruption, scams and scandals have taken place and are taking place continually, there are Malaysians, including politicians, who still talk of asking the Devils’ Party to reform!!!
Or even to collaborate with them!!!!
It’s unimaginable!!!!!
Are we a suckers’ society???
Ultimately what all the excuses and lying means is this. Future young Malays can look forward to this:

Get ready for your children with many degrees and cleaning toilets in a foreign land..
Well, can beat em, just join em!
This is probably kacang putih by Najib’s yardstick, compared to his travel bill and wifey’s shopping tab…this is but small change.
Komisen to mr 10%, kena kira jugak bro…
Which Minister is responsible for these lies ?
Why isn’t Bank Negara stepping in to investigate for money laundering and the like ?
Shiok sendiri all these expenses for personal gain, enjoyment and profit. Criminal tendencies here.
Malaysia got no talent ?
Notice that I hv said nothing on the subject – the disclosure by the auditor general?
That is because I understand fully that the spendings are necessary and crucial.
And more importantly, they are nothing but a normal exercise by the umno gobermen of their ketuanan umno rights.
So really, you people should also just zip up.
hoi umno bila I boleh dapat I punya $$$$$ for posting this?
