Today’s New Straits Times front-page report of lies about DAP CEC re-election signals a new phase of the DDD (Demonise/Destroy DAP) propaganda war with lies and falsehoods

The New Straits Times (NST) front-page report today on the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) re-election is a typical example of the mountain of DDD – “Demonise/Destroy DAP” – lies and falsehoods by Umno/Barisan Nasional media, culminating in the July appearance of the booklet of lies by the fictitious “Father Augustus Chen”, in the past seven months.

The lead paragraph of NST front-page report headlined “DAP finally agrees to hold fresh CEC polls” by S.K. Thanusha Devi reads:

“Kuala Lumpur: DAP yesterday conceded that it must hold fresh polls, after it was found to have disallowed 753 party members from attending its congress-cum-elections as delegates in December”.

This is not journalism but a downright blatant and bare-faced lie, for two reasons:

  1. DAP had right from the beginning challenged the spurious claim that 753 delegates, who were absent at the DAP Congress in Penang last December, had not been properly notified of the Congress and therefore denied the right to attend to vote in the party elections; and

  2. The RoS had never found that DAP had “disallowed 753 party members from attending” the party congress.

  3. In fact there is no truth or basis whatsoever in the allegation as reported by the NST today that the Registrar of Societies (RoS) had in a letter on April 17, 2013, highlighted “753 DAP members claiming they were denied their right to attend the congress as delegates”, as

Firstly, there was no such denial of delegate right to attend the congress, as all the delegates were given the requisite notice under the party constitution; and

Secondly, it is a total fiction that 753 delegates complained to the RoS on this matter.

In fact, the party never received a single complaint from any delegate on being denied the right to attend the Congress, which was why the DAP repeatedly asked the RoS to furnish particulars of the complainants and their complaints but to no avail.

It is outrageous and even surreal that Hitler’s Propaganda Minister Goebbels’ doctrine that if a lie is repeated often enough it could become a fact has now living proof in UMNO/BN Malaysia with NST and Utusan Malaysia as the main exponents.

The two main allegations of the fictitious “Father Augustus Chen” for the invalidation of the CEC elections, namely “753 absent delegates (mostly Indians)” and the “547 phantom delegates (most from Penang)” are downright lies and falsehoods.

The NST front-page report today is proof that the DDD “Demolish-Destroy DAP” campaign through a mountain of lies and falsehoods by Umno/BN propagandists and cybertroopers in the Umno/BN media and the cyberspace is not going to let up with the DAP decision for CEC re-election.

On the contrary, the DDD propaganda war and the campaign of lies and falsehoods will be stepped up.

The NST front-page report of lies about DAP CEC re-election signals a new phase of the DDD propaganda war with lies and falsehoods.

DAP leaders and members as well as the Malaysian public must be aware that the DDD propaganda war will escalate and intensify in the coming days and weeks until the DAP CEC re-elections, hoping to achieve the objective to demonise, demolish and destroy the DAP!

  1. The more they do this, the more they prove that Lee Kuan Yew is right that they don’t care to retain the best and be the best and Singapore will always be better than Malaysia and remain so long as they are willing to keep lowering their standards..

  2. If DAP could foresee BUMNO’s strategy, more timely counter actions ought to be taken, at the right time and moment, to frustrate, neutralize or hinder and slow down  at least BUMNO offensives, preferably after BUMNO sink in and expend   its resources. If ways could be found to cut off its ability to replenish , reinvigorate and restrengthen itself, then the better but this too much to hope for at the moment. Counter measures that are low cost but huge disproportionately on effects are of course preferable.

  3. So, NST depends on the Father Augustus Chan for their information!!

Aaahhh… the quality of reporting in NST has now reached the realms of fantasy.

Perhaps, NST might as well skip fictional writers, like Father Augustus han, and create their own fiction!!!

  4. Even the PM Najib said the same thing today in Kedah. It goes to show that this has become the official reason and stance.

The DAP HAS to take some action to correct this now established (if erroneous) stance and perception.

  5. One thing about the PR, especially the DAP, is that it is gentlemanly to a fault!
    And that’s their greatest fault!!!
In fact, they should take a page from the derring-do of Russian President Putin.
When Chechnya terrorists took hostages and demanded the release of their comrades, Putin took the family members of these terrorists as hostages and demanded that they release their hostages!!!
In the end, the president stared them down!!!
    That’s the way to go!
    And not by pussy-footing around!

    1. Winston,

I have not heard of the Putin approach to hostage taking but I have good information to suggest that the Russian Spetsnaz do not negotiate with hostage takers.

Apparently, Spetsnaz demand unconditional surrender and reduce the bargaining power of hostages to zero, in other words, Spetsnaz do not hold themselves responsible for the safety of the hostages.

This tactic of negating the bargaining value of hostages can be seen in the 2002 Moscow theatre hostage crisis and the 2004 Beslan school hostage crisis. There have been other less sensational cases but I am a bit more familiar with the aforementioned two.

I think the rationale is that if hostages have no value, there is no point taking hostages.

It is a cruel strategy and I would not like it to happen if I was a hostage.

I hope I will never see such a method used in Malaysia.

  6. I thought the NST was only established yesterday and not in 1845. A well -established newspaper with wide readership would not resort to gutter journalism. Only fools or people with an agenda would believe in the fictitious “Father Augustus Chen’s” lies. Did the reporter get an extra allowance for writing this article?

  7. tuahpekkong,

NST was established along with Utusan in Orwell’s 1984-lah.

Di Shi Jiu, now if we say Devi is a parfait Journalist Par++h, a godsend from the steamy pits of sh+tland, would that not be a suitable compliment?

How can anyone ever stoop so low to prostit+te one’s brains?

    1. Endangered Hornbill,

Oh, those poor par++hs. The ignominy of being compared to a NST wannabe journalist like whatshername. Heheheheheh!!!

Methinks, stooping low is, probably, a prerequisite for a NST writer. Maybe it is part of their lifestyle choice, I dunno :)

I do, however, dispute your statement that such writers have brains to prostitute.

If they had brains, they would be writing in defence of the people of Malaysia against the injustices of a corrupt and evil BN Government.

  8. I hope the DAP can see the trees for the forest. This entire shameful charade has an underlying malicious intent and it is not only the DDD but also to continue to put DAP under pressure and be on the defensive all the time. This will reduce the potency of any DAP’s political offensive. The punches are weak while you are back pedalling.

NST, Utusan etc are just the tools and those working in it are stooges. We also need to understand that those reporters( as opposed to journalist) have limited alternative employment options if they are kicked out of these MSM. So they have no choice but to write what their ultimate political boss wants.

  9. Now, we have the rats coming out one by one in the open to stake their claims on the “prize catch” of the day. What a scoop we have here! Just as I thought; but, frankly, I didn’t expect that “Oxfordian” would find himself naked just as well.

  10. I am just thinking aloud. Wouldn’t it be feasible for DAP to prepare for the CEC reelection while at the same time apply to the court to compel ROS to provide reasons for its decision and also request the court to grant a stay of the ROS order for reelection. If possible, DAP should also request the court to give an opinion whether the ROS, by not providing reasons for ordering CEC reelection, is acting legally and reasonably in this case. This of course should be undertaken only after a favorable cost and benefit analysis, not missing the forest for the trees.
