National Reconciliation

The rite of reconciliation
Starts with the admission of wrong.
It is not for crude posturing,
To show off who is really strong.
Reconciliation must respect
The principle that ‘Right is might’;
Not to be manipulated,
Or exploited to ‘Might is right”.

All the recorded ‘facts’ involved,
Must be examined for value.
They must be truly verified,
And given their real, proper due.
When premised on first acceptance
Of blatant immorality,
It negates the truth and justice,
Bowing to insincerity.

All good intentions must be used
For sincere reconciliation.
This healing national process
Must start with true introspection.
When solid facts are established,
Both sides must confirm acceptance;
‘National reconciliation’
Then can become our new conscience.

  1. How do you ‘recon’ a ‘ciliation’ ?

    A ciliation is a protozoa – a single celled animal – that have cilia or hairlike structures used for motion, feeding, or sensing.

  2. You have the right-wing Malays creating more and more fiction as their appointed front Najib spins even more fiction to the rest of us, how in god world is reconciliation possible? Reconcilation means two side coming together, not where one side is running on reality, while the other side further and further away into fantasy land?

  3. One other key difference between the two ends of the divide is that one end believes in the right to be malicious while the other end, while no saint, knows its ultimately unacceptable. How do you reconcile?

  4. Kit, why do you keep on allowing this crap here? – Omeqiu. See from the commenter’s view point. We have our politicians talking about “national reconciliation” and our resident poet (Allan Goh) saying this talk is only a “rite”, a “crude posturing… to show off who is really strong.” The question immediately arises: can a poet talk meaningfully to politician? Can the twain ever meet even half way? The poet is idealistic. He is concerned with the internal order of Man, that we reconcile differences, live in harmony mutual respect & accommodation. The politician is concerned more with ordering of men – that they do according to they say or else….While the poet is conscious of the politician’s power, the politician notices the poet and takes cognizance of his words only when his voice reaches deep into the various social strata that influence votes and support of the politician. Right now the politician does not even care. Thanks to the education system the voice of the poet can’t permeate even the first layer of social strata. To understand Poet Allen the rural constituency that supports incumbent politician must first learn and be conversant with English.
