Refuting MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek’s remark that the electoral result has formed a two-race system, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang urged him not to racialise the choice of the people.
He said the labelling of the result as a “victory of the Chinese against the Malays” by Chua is a betrayal to the vision of Malaysians as well as the 1Malaysia spirit touted by BN.
NONE”It is a great disservice to the country,” he said, while asking Chua to stop his race-baiting.
Lim, who defeated former Johor Menteri Besar Abdul Ghani Othman in Gelang Patah by a whopping majority of 14,762, called a press conference after being officially announced as the winner at the tally centre in Skudai.
To back his argument, Lim said he could not obtain such a high majority without the substantial support of the Malay voters, who form 34 percent of the total voters.
Major advance
Contrary to PKR which refused to recognise the result claiming fraud and irregularities, Lim said he welcomed the outcome and described it as “a major advance to bring about change” and “an endorsement of the dream that we offer to Malaysians”.
The veteran parliamentarian, who had earlier announced that he would retire from politics if he lost this election, said he will carry out his new responsibility as Gelang Patah MP to serve constituents of all races.
“Pakatan Rakyat will work harder in Johor to bring about change.”
On MCA’s dismal performance, Lim said MCA only had only itself to blame.
“This is largely of their own doing, their failure to look out for the interests of all Malaysians,” he added.
You can’t ignore the simple racial appearance. But Zul Nordin, Ibrahim Ali, Puad Zarkashi, Ali Rustam all lost which says a lot about rejecting extremism. Pakatan held on to Selangor convincingly. PAS nearly took Terengganu..
Still, its clear PAS was not in its top form with its ailing Nik Aziz and problems in Kedah.. It could not make a comeback in Perak,
Mat Sabu lost? What more proof its about PAS weakness ignored?
What else can the scums do?
Except to play at what they are best at?
Sex, race and religion?
Even the top honcho of one the their biggest
component parties is a porn star!
How they can face the people daily is
another mystery!!
The fact that the PR has penetrated all their
“safe” areas is enough to make them cringe!!
Now they can run but cannot hide!!!
Let Penang and Selangor be shining examples to the rest of the nation of co-operation and progress.
Let the best minds in Malaysia helm the development of Penang and Selangor. Let these two states lead by example.
