It was a M’sian tsunami, Kit Siang tells Najib

DAP’s newly-crowned Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang has condemned BN head Najib Abdul Razak for attributing the coalition’s worst showing in a general election to a “Chinese tsunami”.

He said it was in fact a “Malaysian tsunami”, and that Pakatan Rakyat could not have achieved its results without the backing of Malaysians of other races.

“In many parts of the country, Pakatan won seats in areas that were previously considered as BN strongholds and took down many big BN guns in Malay-majority areas,” he told a press conference today.

To back his claims, Lim listed several Malay or bumiputera-majority seats that Pakatan had won, or retained with an increased majority.

These include Kuala Terengganu, Alor Setar, Lumut, Sepang, and Penampang.

“The fact that Pakatan managed to increase its share of parliamentary and state seats is commendable, given that hundreds of millions of ringgit were spent by BN on free dinners, goodies, and to print lies and falsehoods in the mainstream press in order to propagate a disgusting and morally reprehensible (form of) politics based on fear,” he said.

Lim reiterated his condemnation of MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek, for saying yesterday that the election results have left Malaysia with a “two-race system”.

On another issue, he said that DAP is backing PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as the parliamentary opposition leader.

‘Anwar leads Pakatan Rakyat’

This is in spite of PKR winning only 30 seats in Parliament, compared to DAP’s 38 seats.

“This is in keeping with the commitment that if we have formed the federal government, we would ensure that Anwar would be the prime minister.

“So this is in keeping with the commitment that he leads the Pakatan Rakyat government, whether in-waiting or in Putrajaya,” he added.

Lim also questioned the legitimacy of the BN government since it won with less of the popular vote in the election.

Pakatan Rakyat parties garnered 50.1 percent of the popular vote yesterday, compared to BN’s 46.7. However, the latter won the election with 133 parliamentary seats compared to Pakatan Rakyat’s 89 seats due to the way the constituencies are delineated.

Since this is BN’s worst ever performance in a general election, Lim called upon former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad (above) to answer whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should step down like his predecessor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Mahathir has previously said in May that Najib should step down if the coalition fares badly in the election, but did not name a suitable replacement at the time.

  1. this is the most terrible result for the Najib government, this is not chinese tsunami but the tsunami of malaysian against the fraud, corruption and irrelevant of the BN components party…Kudos to DAP, upheld the true Malaysian multi racial statue within PR government.

  2. Najib should know.

    It was a Malays Tsunami.
    A Chinese tsunami.
    An Indian tsunami.
    An Iban tsunami.
    A Kadazandusun tsunami.
    An ‘all others’ tsunami.

How else can you explain BN winning only 47% of the popular vote?

  3. president najib lost popular votes like bush
    there after was history
he think he is like obama
enough of transforbasi and terima kashit thing
even a loser still wanted to play racial sentiment

  4. It’s funny and ironic that a PM who is sworn in a day after the GE is already prophecised weeks before by his predecessor from his own party to be short-lived. To those who elected him into power, it looks like the choice you made in this candidate, which translates into your time and effort, is not going to be honoured by the the candidate’s party. You may want to vote more intelligently come GE14.

  5. To Dr M, with reference to your party-coined “Janji ditepati” it is only reasonable that we expect your party to soon axe our nation’s PM, elected just today, soon. Until such occurs, we will keep to the chant of “Janji belum ditepati” or “Menunggu janji ditepati”.

  6. Can we see some solid evidence that BN won by a whisker because of the:

    Bangla tsunami?
    Indonesian tsunami?
    Filipino tsunami?
    Pakistani tsunami?
    Indian mamak tsunami?
    An ‘all-others’ tsunami too?
    Or an ink-credible tsunami/
    Or phantom-voters voting twice tsunami?
Or was it the EC who shot into the goal for BN?

It’s tiring for the public to hear so much talk but little ‘concrete’ evidence apart from some anecdotal videos – just like the sex tapes – who were the actors? when? where? Any independent verification?

    The public should know.
Then only would the pubic justifiably get into a rage. To know that BN cheated to win. To know that EC and BN were in cahoots. To know that PMO flew in illegals. To know new I/cs were issued in exchange for ballots for GE 13?

    Not before then.

  7. ///Since this is BN’s worst ever performance in a general election, Lim called upon former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad (above) to answer whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should step down like his predecessor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.///

If Najib were to step down then he won’t be the last PM of Malaysia thus disproving the R.A.H.M.A.N prediction!

  8. Bersih is withholding recognition of the new government that will be formed AND will set up a people’s tribunal to investigate the extent of electoral fraud and irregularity in 13th general election.
Hence, an open appeal to all DAP leaders,

“PLS do withhold the recognition of the polling results especially some suspicious one. Stand firm with your Pakatan members and Bersih until the truth revealed. A divisive Pakatan will upset the Rakyat!”

  9. Important prediction like RAHMAN cannot be disproved so easily. If Najis step down but get replaced by somebody else not from UMNO the prediction will still stand. If this happens soon it may mean that overwhelming evidence of fraud in the recent election has been uncovered and the Rakyat will not accept the result. On the other hand he may just be able to hang on a while more till he get dislodged by PR possibly in the next election.

  10. As expected, d 1M’sia talk cock racist liar n his sidekicks/serfs packaged everything under “race”
Hence, now we hv “Chinese tsunami” n “two-race system”, sicko
They r drowned by a M’sian tsunami, but still no know
If AhCheatKor truly believes n practises 1M’sia or Malaysian M’sia, then whoever leads n governs does not matter as every M’sian should b fairly taken care of
No need 2 worry abt hving Malay ministers looking after d interests of Malays, Indian ministers looking after d interests of Indians, etc (divide n rule)
Anyway, MCA, Gerakan oredi past their use by dates, oredi expired, can chap lup oredi lor
MCA should change its name 2 UOCSC (UmnoB’s Obedient Chinese Serfs Club)

  11. “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark”
Replace “the state of Denmark” with “PR”

DAP/PAS/PKR kaki must honestly review n reflect on what happened b4 d recently concluded NOMINATION DAY n RUN-UP 2 GE13
Some so-called leaders bcame too cocky n demanded 2 hv dis n dat (esp in deciding d number of seats n where 2 stand as candidates), n bullied others 2 submission
Some so-called leaders tot they were winnable candidates n over-rated their chances of success; they took voters 4 granted, not realising dat voters r BOSSES n they will always choose what they please (esp evidence-based informed choice)

Is PR a truly viable union of political parties based on sincere n transparent cooperation?
Or, another version of BN in which UmnoB behaves as tai kor n bullies n dictates?
2 mount a successful attack in GE14 2 wrest power fr UmnoB/BN, DAP/PAS/PKR kaki must b disciplined n honestly work well with each other

  12. Chua Sok Lei said Najiv is better (that is, smarter!) than Abdullah, yet Najiv came with the worst results of election for BN. Chua is now also the worst MCA President and same as Koh. What were wrong with these guys?? The blinds were praising and leading the blinds?

Najiv is so thick skin, going ahead to form the government with below average popularity votes? He and BN are just power hungry.

I think Maha-thir wants to kick Najiv out as soon as possible so that his son will surface as one of the PM candidates soonest.

To me, Najiv is simply a person who has money (from the people, of course), and distributing it around in the streets, without even thinking about it. He is so ridiculous. He is like the last emperor of China.

Politicians such as the former chief minister of Melacca and Wong Soon Koh of Sibu were so ridiculous, blaming the people for not voting for them or their cronies. Soon Koh said the people from now on should not look for him for any problems. If so, he should resign since he does not know what are his jobs and he refused to serve the people. He still thinks he is the boss and not the people. He will be the next (last) one to be fired by the people from Sibu, after all SUPP representatives have been shot down by the people’s rockets.

    1. Chua Sok Lei said Najiv is better (that is, smarter!) than Abdullah…

As you know Chua SOLD DAD is a licker and sucker. It’s time for him to perform as to gain attentions… Why can we find a porn star be elected as the President of the Party in the Earth Planet??? No wonder, many Chinese shunned away to vote for his suckers. Go to hell, Mother Cums A$$, the Party with the Porn star as President!!

    Not necessarily.

Malaysia can henceforth adopt the American Presidential system, and so this will be the last PM (or the Last Emperor). The next head of state will be an elected President.

Or we can revert to the sultanate system. The next head of state and government will be an elected Agong, and not just a ceremonial.

Then, Najib will indeed be the last PM of Malaysia.

  14. I just cannot see any more life in umno beyond “N”ajib. So I expect jib to struggle on for a couple of years as the last umno pm. He has no choice but to fight on for otherwise he would almost certainly be hauled up by the french court to answer some hard questions on the scopene deal; and some harder questions on the dead mongolian lady.

In the meantime the ppl would suffer because the country will face bankruptcy. This would likely trigger a nasty reaction towards umno by the peopls. This time we would see the participation of umno’s loyal (actually ‘deaf and blind’) supporters from the rural areas.

Umno’s victory can be liken to a new bag of glucose drip. It wont last very long!

  15. Let’s C how AhCheatKor treats d grp of Hindraf kaki who went over 2 d dark side
D grp of Hindraf kaki will happily go 2 meet him: We tolong lu, now lu tolong us, give us what we demanded n agreed upon
Will he meet them? Treat them nicely? C4 them?
    D show begins, akan datang

  16. The PR is a multiracial coalition. BN like a ‘one race’ coalition. But BN still in power. They sees one race unity that trump in GE13. If ‘one race’ coalition relevant, PR should work harder in next election.

  17. CSL blame DAP on racist line for the strong Chinese support, follow by NAjib and today By Mahathir.

That was easy way out the problem.

This also exactly what people believe BN is not sincere in its reform. They have to be honest to them self why the people has turn the table against BN, it is not only Chinese only support DAP , they also support PAS. I have been voting BN, UMNO candidates in Gombak for many GE prior to 308, and 505. I have been supporting the BN and believe it will change, especially on 2004 when Abdullah was taking charge of BN, where Chinese has through their full support for BN, in the believe that Abdullah will lead the reform and clean up BN, the dirty Mahathir erra. So who say Chinese not supporting BN? Why Chinese go away from BN in 308 and now 505?

BN must ask themselves and being sincere to themseld instead of blaming the Chinese now. Chinese not only support DAP simply because DAP represent Chinese. It was very clear that, in 2004 it was Chinese that save BN, esp UMNO, other wise the UBAH has long succeeded in 2004?

BN please sincere and move on to shown your sincerity in your reforms.

As to MCA get rid of your president earlier than later before MCA can talk anything then

  18. Why, they never say Kelantan Malay don’t support bn, that they no grateful? Kelantan under PAS more than 15 years !
or that Selangor Malay support pkr, been ungrateful?
Don’t insult the Chinese been misled by anyone !!
on tsunami, it is an urban tsunami !
