Latest – RoS on Rocket symbol in 13GE

RoS late last night sent letter by hand addressed to “Saudara Lim Guan Eng Setiausaha Agung Parti Tindakan Demokratik (DAP)” which among other things state:

“Pendaftar Pertubuhan juga tidak mempunyai apa-apa halangan untuk Parti Tindakan Demokratik (DAP) menyertai Pilihanraya Umum ke 13 dengan menggunakan simbolnya.”

  1. ‘RoS late last night sent letter by hand….’

Wow. RoS working very late, must be very dedicated, or trying to claim OT. Or creating more last minute problems and uncertainties.

The letter still does not clearly state what the DAP needs… that its Secretary General is recognised and has the power to issue the authorisation letters to the candidates. Instead it still looks as clear as mud, possibly to give the likelihood of future legal actions.

  2. BumNo bosses are scared by the overwhelming responses by the rakyat, its too dangerous for BeEnd if DAP is to use the moon logo.

BumNo’s next blunder is to deregister DAP after PR won Putrajaya.

  3. Yes, take the risk, the ROS and EC are very honorable agencies…. ini kali lah could turn out to be ini hari lah…. uncarefull LGE, have you learnt anything from your last lokap time?

The changes of DAP to PAS logo is the big justification to change the government, why waste it, why?

    1. I think DAP is very careful in avoiding the blame for the party who start the whole issue. If DAP does not try to use its own logo first, the tricky ROS may later say that the 2nd later from ROS did not mean LGE’s authorization letter is not accepted. But if DAP did not plan for alternative PAS/PKR authorization letter, there is a good chance for ROS to deny all LGE authorization letter, and then BeEnd could walk over PR because all DAP candidates are kicked out from contest.

This is two way trap, but looks like BumNo BeEnd ROS has given up the dirty plan in the last minute due to the overwhelming rakyat support received by PR.

The rakyat has won the first round of GE13!

  4. I think this is just the beginning of DAP’s troubles. BN now has planted a ready weapon that in the event they (1) win with razor’s edge or (2) they lose, they will commence action in court to annul DAP results, effectively giving them wins – the likelihood is real considering the courts are still populated with UMNO friendly judges.

But nothing beats the worse case scenario that between now and polling date, BN can challenge ROS’ confirmation letter as being not effective because CEC is still not recognised, and therefore SecGen authorisation is ineffective – meaning the nomination under Rocket symbol may also potentially be null and void. This will be the most despicable trap lulling DAP into using the rocket symbol instead of the moon or eye symbol, but in the moment of desperation, who is to say BN won’t undertake a scorch earth policy? Also, the courts are well within their control as for the time being.

As if the next 15 days is not eventful enough, now the Damocles’ sword hangs over DAP’s head, and becomes an unwanted, unneeded distraction from the campaign itself.

The only way to beat this back is to ensure Pakatan wins big in the coming elections. If DAP is somehow disqualified between now and polling date, Malaysians must make a decision to ensure that all PKR and PAS candidates win to scrape through a simply majority.

If BN wins, we can all be assured that come GE14, even more underhanded tactics can be used – and that is not even taking into considering massive registration of foreign voters in every constituency that supports Pakatan, whether it’s a Malay, Indian, Chinese, Iban, Dayak or Kadazan area. And from there, BN will never ever be defeated – ever.

  5. Stop the procrastination, get to the point. What matters is the win, NOT the symbol. “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” The EC, meanwhile, tried to prevent Malaysians in Singapore from coming back to vote in Singapore registered car. The excuse given was that the Singapore government is interfering with our election process. How nice!

  6. People, for those who live in KL do take a drive to bangsar. Hv a look at the round-about near lucky garden shops. Pakatan and bersih have got little flags all arranged nicely and to my mind beautifully.

What a new and refreshing way to present the message. I hope all party supporters (pakatan of course) could come up with something equally creative in the manner the party flags are displayed or arranged.

Come boy come here, GE13. Get me ABU.

  7. Fishy, very fishy.

Can someone who’s well versed in legal matters now play the role of devil advocate and see what’s in store going forward.

Looks like now there’s no turning back. DAP candidates will use the Rocket but can the Rocket fly? DAP candidates once successfully won the seat, can the seat be challenged by the loser? If so, does it mean that it will have to be decided by the court and meanwhile, the seat hangs in the air!

    1. I am not lawyer, and don’t know much on the issue. As for as I understand, once a candidate is accepted by the returning officer to use the logo, it is law binding, and nothing can change this status later.

The loser may be able to challenge in the court on issues like campaigning fraud, cheating, bribery etc, but not the on the candidate using the approved logo.

I think the trick is RooS has denied DAP CEC which is formed in Dec 2012, and has requested in its 1st letter requiring DAP to submit bla bla bla. Meaning there is a possibility for the tricky RooS to unregister DEP later, and similar developments in that manner.

Look at the support from rakyat to PR yesterday, when the people is behind PR, I don’t think any further tricks by BumNo BeEnd will work effectively.
