Might as well dissolve MACC after Taib snub

APRIL 4 – Naughty seems to be the byword in Sarawak.

The long-serving state chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud used that word today to describe the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) for its investigations into alleged graft in timber land awards.

“They don’t deserve my cooperation because they have been naughty… and they have not been honest,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.

The MACC probe was launched after an environmental activist group released a video documentary alleging the state Barisan Nasional chief to have received millions of ringgit in kickbacks over land deals that have denuded the Borneo state.

In the video, the Sarawak people were also called naughty for occupying state land. But for Taib, the MACC is the naughty one now.

“Let them victimise me… I am not scared,” said Taib, expressing no fear over the investigations.

What is the MACC to do now?

All eyes are on the MACC, again. After all, two people have died in the course of their investigations since they were set up in 2009.

WIll it back down and keep quiet after this brazen response from Taib? Won’t this kind of snub embolden others to thumb their nose at the MACC and refuse to cooperate too?

If the MACC doesn’t do anything about this response from Taib, it might as well close shop. It is already working on a trust deficit basis and this snub from Taib has just shown how powerless the commission can be when it comes head-to-head with the powerful.

  1. MACC, the ball is now in your court and this is the chance for you to redeem your name. Remember, the ‘M’ stands for Malaysia. Make us Malaysian be proud of the name MACC and not put our heads in the sand in shame!

  2. Why else would Fuad Zarkashi, Perkasa leading supporter, can get UMNO/BN all excited about getting Ghani to challenge LKS in Gelang Patah? They think that LKS/PR cannot make corruption stick to Ghani when everyone knows that Johor has been one of the most corrupted state administration since decades ago with every MB ending up one of the richest person in the country and even MCA-excos getting crumbs big enough to rise to the top leadership of MCA and other perversion..

Its not just Taib that can snub MACC, pretty much the rest of UMNO/BN do too..

  3. Even Mamak Toon is damn scared of White Hair. Without White Hair, Mamak Toon is destined for Sg Buluh, so his ars* is at stake.
Mocking MACC has to be the biggest insult to BN but then again, BN is MACC is BN. Taib is mocking all Sarawakians and Malaysians and asking them to come and get him if they’ve got the guts.
Time to trim Pek Moh and turn him into a botak head as he reduced the forests of Sarawak into baldlands and waste.

  4. “They don’t deserve my cooperation because they have been naughty… and they have not been honest,”
I think he is one of the least qualified persons in the country to make this kind of statement.
“Let them victimise me… I am not scared,”
Of course he is not scared. The MACC is only a toothless tiger in the face of such a powerful person. The greatest joke about this person was a report in the Sin Chew last week which quoted him as saying that the Chinese in Sarawak did not support him because he was unable to speak Mandarin and hence not able to explain his policies to them. I continue laughing until today. Hahahahaha.

  5. Now, imagine a sound Pakatan win. The MACC leadership would be given an ultimatum. Heads could roll if results are not forthcoming. Fresh cases of corruption would be few because neither the BN nor Pakatan chaps would venture too easily into corrupt practices, because of checks and balance between the new government and the new opposition. See how the BN whines and squeals at the slightest possible doubt over Pakatan policy in Penang?

Would it matter if you were a red-head? You would still be freely investigated.

  6. For this “Tahi”, MACC is just a naughty and dishonest boy, quoted on the SUN, on 5th Apr 2013,
If what he said is true, then MACC should be dismantled and re-organized !
or can MACC sue him for defamation ?
