83-Day Countdown to 13GE: Mahathir’s “Listen, Listen, Listen!” exhortation and the question – What is to be done when a former PM had committed treason when in power?

It was pure, pristine, undiluted Mahathirism – the perverted illogic, falsehood-coated assertions and brazen dishonesty.

Recently, the Sharifah-Bawani video clips made the “Listen, listen, listen!” diatribe infamous nationwide, but the real “Listen, listen, listen!” maestro is none other than Mahathir, who yesterday treated Malaysians to a classic “Listen, listen, listen” exposition, a decade after he stepped down as Prime Minister for 22 years but demonstrating he is still unequalled as an exponent of this black art.

Mahathir was responding to the revelations at the Sabah Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants on Project IC (also known of Project M) and the “IC receipts-for-votes” and “citizenship-for-votes” scams in Sabah in the nineties, but he had overreached himself as for the first time in 14 years he had to admit to the existence of the nefarious and treasonous Project IC or Project M not only to subvert the electoral process but also the sovereignty of Sabah and Malaysia.

Mahathir had until yesterday strenuously denied the existence of Project IC or Project M since the public surfacing of the allegations about it in the Likas election petition in 1999, but yesterday, when pressed by the media if he was saying the Project IC was lawful, Mahathir said: “Yes, it is lawful.”

If the Project IC or Project M was lawful, giving ICs and citizenships to foreigners “within the law”, why was it necessary for Mahathir to deny it and to hide it from the people of Sabah and Malaysia for over a decade?

Furthermore, why was it necessary for Mahathir to try to defame Bapa Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman, by claiming that the first Prime Minister had done worse by giving citizenship to one million unqualified people in peninsular Malaysia, asking: “Why is it when he does it, it is not wrong, and when I do it, it’s wrong?”

This is a virtual admission by Mahathir that what he had done in Project IC or Project M in the “citizenship-for-votes” scam to shore up UMNO’s political power was capital crime and treasonous, but he sought to find immunity and impunity by hiding under the shadow of Bapa Malaysia through the lie that Tunku had done even worse than him.

It is sad and tragic for Malaysia that the longest-serving Prime Minister in Malaysia does not understand that “Two wrongs do not make a right”.

Sadder and even more tragic, there are no “two wrongs” here as it is utterly cowardly, disgusting and contemptible on Mahathir’s part to allege that Tunku had committed a more heinous crime and treason than him with regard to Project IC or Project M.

Tunku never gave out citizenship to subvert the electoral process but to ensure that in the run-up to Merdeka in 1957, non-Malays who resided in Malaya had a right to citizenship, which was agreed by all including the Conference of Rulers – all done in an open and transparent manner.

Did Mahathir conduct the Project IC or Project M in an open and transparent process, after getting mandate from his Cabinet, the Conference of Rulers and the Malaysian people, particularly the Sabahans?

Another indication that Mahathir is aware that Project IC or Project M was both criminal and treasonous can be seen from his mild reaction yesterday to the charge by the PKR Deputy President Azmin Ali that he, Mahathir, is “a traitor to the country” for the scam in Sabah, as Mahathir merely responded he did not mind such charges, as there are those who praised just as there are those who scolded him.

I have said that Mahathir should forever shut up if he is not prepared to volunteer to appear before the Sabah RCI to clear allegations that he was a traitor for giving ICs and voting rights to foreigners just to shore up UMNO’s political power and to speak up to clear the names of his two confidantes and right-hand men in Project IC or Project M, the then Deputy Home Minister Megat Junid Megat Ayub and his political Secretary Aziz Shamsuddin.

Mahathir said that he has yet to be subpoenaed to testify at the RCI, but is willing to do so if called.

There can be no doubt that there is only one star witness for the RCI, and he is none other than Mahathir – as without him, there would be no Project IC or Project M and no need for any RCI on illegal immigrants in Sabah.

Can Mahathir give an assurance that he would not suffer another attack of amnesia when testifying before the RCI in Sabah, as happened when he testified before the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Lingam Videotape in January 2008?

Mahathir, who is well-known for his “elephantine memory” before and after his appearance before the Lingam Videotape RCI, said “I cannot remember” or its equivalent 14 times during his 90-minute testimony in January 2008.

Would Mahathir suffer another attack of amnesia and even break all records of amnesia when he appears before the RCI in Sabah?
The question all Malaysians must now ponder is: What is to be done when a former Prime Minister had committed treason when in power?

  1. His social engineering objectives are almost as heinous as those of the Third Reich or of the Pol Pot regime. He will go to the RCI with his usual smirk, as though to tell the commission “I am smarter than all of you and there’s nothing you can do to me”. Unfortunately to those of us, especially to the Sabahans, he is right.

  2. When trying to evaluate Mad-hat-thir’s mental status, it is so difficult. The fact that he is demented is not in doubt. The fact that he is a pathological liar is also not in doubt. Is this due to senile dementia, and telling lies to cover up, or is this part of the “pump-brain” syndrome that we see with people who undergo the heart-lung machine for CABG. Whatever it is, this guy is evil, and do not care about what he says, except that it fulfills his need. So sad that Malaysia has to tolerate this guy. God please take him away. We are all better without him.

We must change the tenant at Putrajaya. HKR 112 is over. GE 13 is coming, and very soon. Let us all work very very hard for the next 83 days. First to GE 13, then to Putrajaya.

Change we must. Change we can. Change we will.

  3. The criminal will usually not admit to any wrong doing.
Especially when it involves a very serious crime like treason.
But as long as there is enough circumstantial evidence to convict him, then he stands convicted.
And the punishment for treason be meted out.

  4. All the assets & wealth of Mahathir & his family must be deep freezed pending the outcome of RCI.

But this is the fight of the titans, isn’t it? The M&M team is using the carpet man to try to sweep away N team for good by promising carpet dealer immunity and goodies.

Now, N team is unleashing their weapon (RCI Sabah) on M&M team hoping to nail TM for eternity. The other M is just a useless puppet.

Carpet dealer forsees the end result – BN boat will sink, and that’s why he is friendly with Pakatan hoping to strike a similar deal he has with M&M team.

What our country needs is a good clean up by a new federal government from Pakatan Rakyat!

Mamakthir said that the immigrants who came in after Malaysia into Sabah had been there for 20 to 30 years and they therefore had the right to citizenship. Based on that argument, why did he say that people who were already in Peninsular Malaysia before Independence were not qualified, and hence did not have the right to citizenship. That statement alone proves that Mamakthir has no respect for logic and reason.

Tunku did not give citizenship to millions of unqualified persons, he only acted in accordance to the process of obtaining independence for Malaya. The British accorded independence to Malaya when she could not claim that there would not be peace in the country, or that the people of different major races did not agree to the terms of agreement for independence. In case Mamakthir pretended not to know the demographic situation then; the population ratio in Malaya at the time of independence in 1957 was 43% Malays, 43 % Chinese 14% Indians (counting Mamakthir among them). Some Chinese and Indians could not qualify for automatic citizenship at that time, and some among their descendants are still not citizens, whereas the new comers granted illegally or immorally citizenship in Sabah are bumiputras and they are the beneficiaries of Article 153.

Mamakthir said that granting citizenship to immigrants in was done legally. It is like saying that ISA is legally enforced too, when it is done with motive for political gains. Giving citizenship to a foreign person is giving them the right to share the resources and the responsibility, and that their admittance should be in national interest. But the Project M was for getting immigrants to cheat in the general election for UMNO to remain in power. That is corruption. That act also admitted persons to share the resources meant for the citizens of the country, and it amounts to treason.

It is clear that the election results of 1994 was illegal. Mamakthir was a illegal Prime Minister. He should be charged for masquerading as PM and acted like one in 1994.

  6. Here is RPK coming to cover for TM:-
“In 1957, they granted citizenship to one million ‘foreign’ Chinese and Indians and 30 years later they ‘balanced’ this by granting citizenship to one million foreign Muslims. There was nothing illegal about what they did but whether it was moral or not is another thing altogether.”

I think RPK’s logic doesn’t quite make sense. The one million Chinese & Indians (all British subjects) who have been laboring in the land for years & years were given citizenships in agreement with the then British master and under broad daylight.
But here the so call balancing act (project IC)of given to fresh (some only a year) foreign subjects (not Bristish subjects) was done in the secrecy of the night for a devilsh purpose to win the election. This is fraud & treason!

RPK also try to pull others into the mud. No matter what, TM was the head and he should take full responsibilty.

  7. Malaysians must be blind, deaf and mute to continue voting for BN after this expose. Nothing – and I mean absolutely nothing – that Pakatan does or will do at this point in time, will be as diabolical as compared with what Tun Dr M has done in the past, which effects reverberates to this very day at the very least in Sabah, if not the rest of Malaysia.

If there is to be a Bersih 4.0, it better be now – and the demands must be to set up an RCI in Peninsular Malaysia, in particular in Pakatan states – the lawmakers should also consider delaying general elections until the RCI is complete, recommendations done, and the EC finally getting its act together to clean up the electoral roll and all the other electoral loopholes, rigging, fraud, cheat, phantoms, bribery, media bias and its own incompetence and partiality – including change of its top commissioners.

Will our King step in now?

  8. ///Tunku Abdul Aziz was earlier presented with a letter of appointment to MACC’s advisory board by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at Istana Negara here Tunku Abdul Aziz who was made a senator in July 2009 insisted that corruption was everyone’s fight and it was a war in which every Malaysian is involved “I don’t think it’s right to keep blaming the government saying they’re a part of the problem ” he said – Bernama.///—MalaysianInsider

Looks like another appointment, to senator-ship will be forthcoming, this time under BN quota. Did this man sing the same tune when he was senator?
