For over a month, the country had been convulsed by a series of exposes revolving around the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu relating to the second Statutory Declaration of Private Investigator P. Balasubramaniam and very serious allegations against the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his family by carpet businessman Deepak Jaikiishan.
The question many Malaysians are asking is whether the truth about the C4 murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu, the mystery surrounding Balasubramaniam’s second Statutory Declaration and the very serious allegations by Deepak against Najib and his family would only be known if there is a change of government in Putrajaya in the 13th general elections.
Although the Defence Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi had said that he would respond to Deepak’s allegations against Najib at the winding-up of the 66th UMNO General Assembly, he conspicuously failed to do so, although it was not Zahid but Najib himself who should be responding to Deepak’s allegations.
Deepak had made very specific allegations that Najib had intervened in his favour in a RM100 million defence ministry project in 2005 when he was Defence Minister in a deal which involved a Selangor UMNO Wanita leader’s company as well as Najib’s involvement in getting Balasubraniam to make a second Statutory Declaration in 2008 which reversed an earlier one linking Najib to murdered Mongolian Altantunya.
Najib has so far maintained a long and inelegant silence on these Deepak allegations fully detracting the value and credibility of his many declarations of reform and transformation, including his apology in his UMNO Presidential speech on behalf of the UMNO leadership for any “mistake” or “oversight” committed by UMNO in the past.
As Najib is not yet prepared to call for immediate elections, is the Prime Minister on the 97-Day Countdown to the 13GE prepared to convene an emergency meeting of Parliament to fully clear himself of these serious allegations swirling around him arising from the developments in the past two months?
