Barisan Nasional has lost all credibility, legitimacy and moral authority to continue to rule in Malaysia

The latest report to emanate from the Barisan Nasional camp is that in the 13th General Election, it expects to win more than the 140 parliamentary seats it took in the 2008 General Election and that its worst-case scenario is winning just over 120 seats.

But this is only one of the many projections making their rounds with the worst-case scenario for the Barisan Nasional ranging from the bleak one of losing majority control of Parliament to the even more dismal one which would give Barisan Nasional a total of less than 100 parliamentary seats.

For the first time in the nation’s 55-year history and in thirteen General Elections, Malaysian voters have within their hands the power to decide whether the time has come for a change of Federal government although this would be heavily dependent on whether the next general election is a free, fair and clean one.

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is not confident that he will survive unscathed to continue as the sixth Prime Minister after the 13GE, and this is why he had dillied and dallied for almost two years over when to call for general election although he cannot be unaware of the pressure from the ignominy of being the longest unelected Prime Minister without his own national mandate for the highest office in the land.

Whatever the electorate’s verdict in the 13GE, what is becoming increasingly evident is that Barisan Nasional has lost all credibility, legitimacy and moral authority to continue to rule in Malaysia because it is prepared to undermine the Malaysian nation-building process with contradictory lies, deceit and hypocrisy when campaigning to different racial groups.

To the Malays, UMNO leaders and propagandists spread lies and falsehoods as warning that DAP will be the real power if Pakatan Rakyat forms the federal government in the 13GE, that the Malays will lose political power and become “beggars in their own land”, the position of Islam as the official religion of the country would be displaced with Malaysia becoming a Christian state, the Rulers would be abolished and Malaysia become a Republic.

To the Chinese, MCA leaders and propagandists spread lies and falsehoods as warning that PAS will be the real power if Pakatan Rakyat forms the federal government in the 13 GE, hudud laws would be implemented resulting in the further undermining of non-Muslim rights and interests while non-Muslim women would no more be safe as they could be raped by Muslims – all reminiscent of the MCA and Gerakan lies and falsehoods in the 1999 General Election that a vote for DAP was a vote for PAS and an Islamic State where there will be no pork, no alcohol, no temples, no Chinese schools, beautiful women would not be able to find jobs and there would be a chopping of hands and feet.

UMNO leaders and propagandists do not believe in the lies, falsehoods and deceit perpetrated by the MCA among the Chinese, just as MCA leaders and propagandists do not believe in the lies, falsehoods and deceit perpetrated by UMNO among the Malays – but they are not prepared to expose or deny the respective lies and falsehoods as it serves the objective of trying to frighten the different racial groups and stampede them to vote for Barisan Nasional in the 13GE.

This is where Pakatan Rakyat differs from Barisan Nasional. We do not send out different messages to different groups of Malaysians, whether racial, religious or geographical.

Pakatan Rakyat and the component parties of DAP, PKR and PAS have only one and the same message for all Malaysians – to restore justice, freedom, democracy and good governance and to uphold the fundamental features of the Malaysian Constitution.

In contrast, Barisan Nasional continues its divisive and destructive role to perpetuate its “divide and rule” tactics, sowing the politics of hate and conflict with conflicting and contradictory messages for different ethnic and religious groups in the country.

How can the Barisan Nasional reconcile the lies, falsehoods and deceit spread by UMNO among Malays with the lies, falsehoods and deceit spread by MCA among the Chinese?

This is why I say that the Barisan Nasional has lost all credibility, legitimacy and moral authority to continue to rule in Malaysia because it is prepared to undermine Malaysian nation-building with contradictory lies, deceit and hypocrisy when campaigning to different racial groups – which tear into smithereens Najib’s high-falutin but meaningless 1Malaysia slogan and policy!

This is also why Barisan Nasional deserves to be defeated and replaced by Pakatan Rakyat as the new federal government in Putrajaya in the 13GE.

  1. There’ll be plenty of bookings out of KL during election night. Off to London, Geneva, Ottawa, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, even Medan and Surabaya. Gotta check on bank accounts there before the incoming government start the international search for ill-gotten gains.

  2. 13GE IS A WAR TO BN. To fight a good fight and to win a war. Su Zi say you must know yourself and your opponent. BN may know themselves but they deny all of them, they refuse to know themselves. Instead of making amend what are the shortcoming BN chose to spreading lies and create fears and threats. Certain voters may buy them but majority will not. BN is to suffer the next coming GE.

MCA has lost the supports of their core supporters of mainly of Chinese. Many are simply get bore and tiring and even angry on what MCA boss have to say today. After filing their stomach the just walk away as there is nothing that MCA’s can offer them. So the end of MCA will be soon after next GE

  3. Hello, please do not tell us how bad the other guy is. We all know that. Please tell us how good you are for Malaysia. Please tell us what you would do for Malaysia.

We need to change the tenant at Putrajaya. GE 13 is coming. Failure is not an option. Lead us to the change. Show us how good you are.

Change we must. Change we can. Change we will

  4. The report cited
    1) BR1M 2.0
    2) Limited damage in Sabah & Sarawak
    3) Indian community support
    4) Najib approval rating

None of these things are new and clearly the report is Public Relations to Foreign Correspondent Club and whoever else..

Anyone will tell you, a second handout is never as effective as the first one. People catch on pretty quickly its because of GE only they are getting it and will ask what will happen AFTER the GE – GST, AES, higher gas, electricity, water, toll, health care etc. .. Never heard of anyone winning election when its obvious they are going to raise taxes – and a lot too..

Sabah & Sarawak – its really depends on whether opposition can avoid fighting with each other..Otherwise, nonsense a few seats only..

As for Indian support, it all depend on whether Hindraf intend to cooperate or not..Even without them, given the recent political masturbation in Batu Caves and others, no way they can claw back that much.

Najib last approval rating was months ago – and it was falling. Badawi approval rating was not that much lower in 2008 and UMNO/BN rating is much lower than then…

UMNO/BN is doing everything they can to prevent internal sabotage – a perrenial problem. Honestly, saboteurs always find another way to do it if they want to. When they have to resort to police action on your own, you know things are really really bad..

  5. For decades BN survived on race-and-religious “bogey” conditions.

The dirty-old-man master on this, whenever his power challenged, in power crisis, released these bogeymen, create “bogey” conditions, distract public attention from real issues, manipulate the news. History teaches us, this is how dictators work.

I have live long enough to witness how race-and-religion were effective political tools, deployed to distract and manipulated for political power.

This coming GE13, expect nothing new, only the dosage get stronger, the tolerance get tighter.

Well, the beauty of democracy, the voters deserve the government they voted. Good or bad.

  6. Kit…that has been established long ago.
The point is why are there so many voters…especially from the minorities are still supporting BN?
Depend on the old voters…can be unreliable…although thousands upon thousands….including members from BN are going to vote for change.
Credit must be given to the many many corruptions and deaths exposed..unsolved by PR politicians.
For their reward….it will be the 3 million young voters to be depended upon.
Had Najib declared 13th GE when Umno b still had the clear majority…Najib would have had a slim majority victory.
Delaying…dilly dally…by him went against him.
I think Atalanuya ghost has much to do with it.
Scorpene deal does not frighten him.
    It’s Atlantuya’s ghost…pricking his conscience….day and night.
We don’t see these corrupted actors behaving guilty…..exactly like rouges and thieves caught and questioned at police stations…all will cry fouls play and how innocent they are.
As PR politicians like you are working hard to keep exposing them…we actually have tons of reasons to vote them out.
Will voters change their minds????….I don’t think so….especially the young voters.
They simple want a change and is bored to be governed by Umno B.
They do not feel the pains and understand much about rouges and thieves and murderers by through reading…but voting to change is their objectives.
PR can thank somebody up there….who does not involve in politics….but for Najib to go to the mosque and fooled HIM…Najib had in coming…he knows that…..and buying as much time as he can to be free.

  7. The list of AES camera locations for AES to trap motorists at traffic light junctions and for speed limit is now in wide circulation. In Selangor there are cameras at 38 traffic light junctions and 73 cameras for speed limit. The number of cameras for the different speed limit locations is as follows:

    Speed Limit No. of Camera

    50 kph 2
    60 kph 14
    70 kph 10
    80 kph 12
    90 kph 20
    110 kph 7
    Not stated 8
    Total 73

The above list shows that more than half of the cameras are situated to trap motorists traveling at below 90 Kph. Perhaps the Transport Ministry has information that fatal accidents usually occurred at low-speed-limit locations that it chooses to concentrate AES cameras at locations where low speed limit applies. But is that a fact?

Motorists are more likely to exceed a low-speed limit which is imposed arbitrarily anyway, and thus they are more likely to be caught by the AES cameras. The AES concessionaire is happy to collect its share of the fines. There is a clear conflict of interests between the people and the AES operators.

Whatever the merit or otherwise of the AES, the government makes a fundamental mistake in making “profit sharing’ arrangement with the AES concessionaire. The government has the right and obligation to buy the AES services outright when its action serves national interest. By sharing fines collected from motorists with AES concessionaire, the government’s law enforcement authority has in fact been utilized by the AES concessionaire to enrich itself. One would have thought that AES is utilized to deter motorists traveling at high speed to reduce fatal accidents. The above table shows that it is a scheme for profit taking.

  8. Never in the history has Umno stoop so low….before Mahathir took over ….killed the original “UMNO” and start his Umno B with him as first member..,,,member No.1…making Tunku died without a party.
When you have a PM for 22 years like that…what do yu expect from them?
The truths have all been revealed.
It’s no more pretending to be anything good.
It’s their last evils acts…bribing..buying ..bluffing voters as much as they can.
Their last hope is hoping vast majority voters are idiots….simply believe….simple casting their vote.
If that is true…Najib will not delay 13th GE for 4 years and looks like the last day of his thick skinned unelected PMship…..which makes him…the most guilty PM amongst all.

  9. One possibility of such a statement at this time is so that when the result comes out highly suspicious, they can cite their ‘survey’ to say they had expected good result and deny real investigation that will be demanded.

  10. Such hypocrites…such lowdown greedy…arrogant..two-face politicians.
Such sickening big spenders to show off…spending huge sums…as if they own Malaysia…not acting like elected politicians at all.
Steal..take….as much as they like….killing few out of extreme pleasures….and a poor Mongolian soul.. was killed …bombed to pieces. All her immigration record destroyed. The whole world knows who are the real guilty ones.
You think such people can be kind…considerate and thoughtful leaders…treating all as equal Malaysians?

  11. LKS, you have said is the whole truth nothing but the truth that Bn esp umno is going all out to cheat, create fear, cause tension between races, spread lies, may 13 was not started by harun, the 40 millions carried by timber tycoon Chia and caught by HK customs was legal , ling is incapable to cheat the govt, the commision money for the submarine was legal …etc in order to win this coming election. If committing murder is no big deal, what is cheating in the election? Msia boleh!
