Where is Najib’s “natural abhorrence” of corruption when as PM he could be completely indifferent about RM40 million “black money” attempted to be smuggled into Malaysia – whether for Sabah Chief Minister or Sabah UMNO?

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz invites national and international disbelief when in a written parliamentary reply to Batu MP Chua Tian Chan he said that investigation papers submitted to the Attorney-General by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) show that RM40 million a Sabah businessman was caught with in trying to smuggle into Malaysia from Hong Kong were political contributions to the state Umno and not for Chief Minister Musa Aman and that “no element of corruption was proven”.

On August 22, 2008, Sabah DAP officials comprising DAP MP for Kota Kinabalu Hiew King Cheu, DAP Sabah State Assemblyman for Sri Tanjong Jimmy Wong Sze Phin and Sabah DAP leader Edward Mujie lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur to demand that the Anti-Corruption Agency (before its replacement by MACC) investigate the allegation which had appeared in the press and Internet about a Hong Kong seizure of S$16 million cash and arrest of Michael Chia, a confidante of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the Hong Kong International Airport on August 14, 2008 for alleged money trafficking and laundering before boarding flight bound for Kuala Lumpur.

More than four years after the event, Sabahans and Malaysians are now asked to believe that the RM40 million was not meant for Musa’s “personal use” as they were meant for Sabah UMNO – which contradicted media reports at the time that Chia had allegedly told the Hong Kong authorities that the money belonged to Musa.

It was only last week at the opening of the 6th conference and general meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak preached to the international community about the crucial importance in the battle against corruption to instil “a natural abhorrence to corruption” into the conscience of society.

After taking the high moral ground stressing the critical role for people in positions of power and authority to exemplify and exhibit the “right values” to fight corruption at the IAACA conference last week, Najib has intensified the incredulity and disbelief felt by Sabahans and Malaysians, because all are asking one question:

Where is Najib’s “natural abhorrence” of corruption when as PM he could be completely indifferent about RM40 million “black money” attempted to be smuggled into Malaysia – whether for Sabah Chief Minister or Sabah UMNO?

  1. This is the most cockeyed explanation from a Minister that I have ever heard!

Since when did UMNO have a Malaysian Chinese, Michael Chia, as its Treasurer that he should deposit RM92 million in a bank account for it? At the very least, Michael Chia should be charged with money laundering since the money appears to have been hand carried to Switzerland!

And after all Musa Aman is UMNO Sabah’s head, so, why should he not be charged with corruption and/or money laundering. Who are these very generous supporters who “donated” RM 92 million to UMNO Sabah?

This case reeks of corruption, money laundering, and possibly fraud, embezzlement, CBT and more. Remember you need Bank Negara approval to open a foreign bank account. Yet MACC, police and the AG can’t find one reason, one person and one charge to file in our courts?

Shame or our AG and MACC! Sack them all. Make sure YB that we have an RCI on this when Pakatan comes to power!

we are all of 1 Race, the Human Race

  2. Musa Aman was found not corrupted because he is a major power in Sabah that is critical for UMNO/BN to remain in power. The problem with that excuse is that ITS ALWAYS THE CASE WITH ANY MAJOR FIGURE IN UMNO/BN and why there is never any ‘big fish’ caught by MACC.

Call it no political will-power but what it really is simply NEVER GOING TO EVER TO IT..

  3. Sheriff singh…your father gave you a nice “western” style like name. He must love cowboys and sheriff western movies.
Did he taught you to have manners talking to someone by addressing his/her name?

  4. If Bank Negara could investigate alleged money laundering by SUARAM so swiftly, it (Bank Negara) should also investigate the RM40 million smuggled in by the Sabah businessman.

Umno controls everything; soon it will control the world!

  5. That’s what happens when you have to say an even bigger lie to cover up the previous lie. Would have been easier to say investigations are continuing, however incredulous that might seem after 4 years. What now, Nazri ? Claim you were not the one who prepared the parliamentary answer ?

  6. Let me repeat. The key to beating electoral fraud for PR is a live Anwar-Najib debate. Anwar winning a live TV debate and PR can move the votes easily by 5% to their side the next day. Najib running away from the debate and PR hounding him every corner of the country with it from start to end of the GE campaign period and still 5% swing is also achievable..

  7. Sheriff I was asking you a question about manners.
Westernized mat salleh sikh….you claim to be?
Who are you inviting to StarbuckS and may not pay for his drink.
How come you invite someone and say..”I might buy you a drink”
You mean invite him to drink free sky juice?

If you respond….try to have some manners and respect for others.
Are you old enough to vote?

  9. An Umno stooge refused to provide information to the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to probe the RM40 million “black money” and that has forced the ICAC to halt investigating case.

  10. Your comment is awaiting moderation.

You could just go play with that thingy the name your father gave you, your nick, and not try to bother other people unnecessarily. I am old enough to vote but I can’t possibly let you belanjar me with the pocket money your mama gave you. Be a good boy you. Study hard and pa.s your PMR with flying colours and have a good future. 12. These Hong Kongese fellows are showing disrespect to Malaysians! They should have left the Michael Cheah fellow off, taken a Malaysian style kickback, and let the Malaysian Customs or Police to handle the matter. If the money is for Malaysia’s national interests, the bloody Hong Kongese must show some respect!
