Happy ending for NFC saga

FEB 13 — Nazri Aziz is the Prime Minister’s troubleshooter and his statement in Sinar Harian about the case must be seen in this light. His suggestion that everything will be fine after Shahrizat Jalil’s family/her repay the RM250 million loan is not his idea but a compromise put together by Putrajaya.

As part of this drama script, the police will recommend that some form of charge be brought against NFC directors but the MACC aka the protectors of corrupt practices in government will clear Shahrizat.

Shahrizat’s family will be given a slap on their wrist and she will not have to resign. The audit firm hired by the government will come out with a report to talk about weaknesses in the NFC process and make a suggestion for the government to either shut it down or take over.

The audit firm will make some recommendations which the government will promise to implement.

The family behind Cowgate will have to relinquish their properties, etc and will be expected to fade away. But Shahrizat will not be forced to resign from Wanita Umno or the government.

This is the brilliant ending to the NFC saga but there is only one spanner in the works and that is the fact that more than RM150 million of the RM250 million was used without proper authorisation.

Therefore, this is not some internal dispute or administrative foul up which Nazri is talking about.

This is either CBT or a lesser criminal offence. But I suppose when corruption is part of the DNA of the ruling party, it is unable to see how disgusting it is to just believe that all the Shahrizat family has to do is make a restitution and everything will be ok.

Are we going to offer all white collar criminals or those who abuse government funds the same deal?

  1. Like I said in an earlier post, the family will be given a loan by a government owned bank like Agrobank or Bank Rakyat and they will use the funds to repay the soft loan. Since Agrobank and Bank Rakyat operate at annual losses with no proper accountability, the loan to the family will eventually be written off.

  2. Nazri is talking about repatriation of ill-gotten gains. Even if it does happen, it will not absolve wrongdoing committed by relevant parties at 1st instance but may mitigate severity of their punishment for that wrong doing….However when it comes to holding public office, it is hard to see how that can be maintained at status quo when abuse, if any, has been conceded by the very act of repatriating the fruits of that abuse! Surely one cannot set a precedent where a public office holder can abuse his/her office and risk nothing except only returning/repatriating ill gotten gains as a way not only to escape punishment but to hold on to that office/position abused! Like that the whole reward-punishment system becomes topsy-turvy and soon the attitude of “nothing ventured nothing gained” will be prevalent as far as abusing public positions goes when there is no cost but only benefit to venture a wrongdoing! Isn’t it so if the best is when one gets to keep the ill gotten gains (if not caught) (a real happy ending), and the worst a wrong doer faces when (bad luck) he/she is caught is just having to give up ill gotten gains (without punishment) (a not so unhappy ending)?

  3. The Agrobank or Bank Rakyat mentioned by Godfather is notwithstanding the misleading word “bank” actually not a licensed bank regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia subject to its governance or audit. One can think of the implications.

  4. It is the same old style….same old ways to put an end to millions stolen with few scapegoats taking the blame.
Look at the PKFZ RM12.5 billion…ONLY Ling Liong Sik…is the heavy weight mastermind charges….yet he worked under the directive of Mahathir…not one work about M.
Such is the style…..all UMNO b ring leaders in massive corruptions must be protected at all cost.
    One goes…all will be exposed.
Shahrizat happens to be in UMNO b…poor Ling is just a puppet from MCA.

  5. ///but the MACC aka the protectors of corrupt practices in government will clear Shahrizat.///

Why are “big fishes” not punished for committing corruption in Malaysia? Are they licensed to commit corruption or given special protection? The MACC must not practice double standards. If it allows “big fishes” to get away scot-free, it must do likewise to the “small fishes”.

  6. Corruption…is the same old style…same old ideas…choose few scapegoats and protect the big fishes…especially all UMNO b big fishes.
None must be investigated or found guilty.
MCA puppets…big or small fishes….all pledged to take the rap too…once all join in to do exactly like like what their masters are doing.
Puppets can be replaced by so many.

  7. Small fishes…is like the gangster clique..pledge to go to jail.. to protect the big fishes.
    Small fishes are helpless.. powerless.
Study the US mafias..mobs..gangsters and understand how they operate…..then you will understand.
Then study how Dictators in politics…..their mentalities and behaviors…..act like Gods….and Devils at the same time…depending on their moods and situations.

  8. Do you recall Mahathir said…he dare not touch Samy Vellu…because Samy is like Indian God to Malaysian Indians.
Actually…Samy threatened to expose all and bring all UMNO b crooks along with him…if ever he goes to jail.
That’s how smart Mahathir can twist.

  9. CORRUPTION?…..recall how Samy wrote a loving poem and fed sweet cake into Mahathir’s mouth during Deepavali…no more…once Mahathir did not stand by him on corruptions investigations.
But like I said…Mahathir chickened out….and since then…Samy no more treat Mahathir.his idol.
Now he said…he has never seen a better PM than Najib in his entire life in politics.
Samy do speak lots of sweet nothing..but then…that’s how crooks stay and work together.
    Check out…gangsters world…ho they operate.

  10. The law is the law; and a criminal act once committed becomes a crime. In appropriate circumstances the law may excuse the criminal from punishment. But the law will never erase his criminal wrong. In other words, though excused of punishment, the criminal remains as what he is, a criminal. And of course, only the court of law can make these decisions.

Here umno goes against everthing in the law books. Umno purported to erase sharizat’s potentially criminal act. Umno also purported to excuse sharizat from punishment on condition that she returns the money. Not only is such conduct highly improper, it also represents a publicly staged act of sweeping irregular and wrongful behaviours by ministers under the great umno carpet.

BTW, what about you, toyo-the-indon? How come your problems were not swept under the great umno carpet? Besides, you ni melayu baru tapi tulen. Sharizat tu melayu celup! Hei not fair ni.

  11. It was very disgusting to see MACC chairman give a warm hand shake and sort of welcoming ceremony when the Mrs excuse me go to give her statement. In contrast of those in the opposition who will be drag in the middle of the night and keep them overnight subject to non stop interrogation also in name of taking statement. MACC is just the as the writer well name the protector of BN and nothing else. They are just a bunch of actors

You may perhaps add that one or two had even to exit through the high window to their death, ostensibly by reason of their inability to withstand the vigorous interrogation!
