Pakatan Rakyat members tick off Ongkili for making decisions without consultation and barring Bersih from attending the meetings.
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat MPs in the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) for electoral reforms have rapped its chairman for making decisions without consulting the group first
PAS Kuala Krai MP Hatta Ramli said that PSC chairman Maximus Johnity Ongkili jumped the gun by announcing nationwide public hearings, and also barring Bersih 2.0 from attending the PSC’s meetings.
“This may not be a big issue, but (the fact remains) that the decision was made by him without consultation. The first meeting hasn’t even been held… decisions should have been made then, but he seems to have decided himself.”
“Is this a one-man-show or a committee of nine people?” asked Hatta, when talking to reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.
Last night, Ongkili gave the media an idea of what to expect in the upcoming PSC meetings. He said that at least six public hearings were to take place in both the Peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak.
Bersih, he added, would be barred from attending the PSC meetings.
Who is Ongkili to decide?
However, Ongkili said that Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan would be allowed to submit proposals to the PSC as either a member of the Bar Council or as an individual.
But Hatta said that it was ironic for Ongkili to have made this decision (to bar Bersish) when it was Bersih that set about the chain of events leading to the formation of the PSC.
“Who is he to decide on what position Ambiga should come in?… This PSC was agreed upon subsequent to the July 9 Bersih gathering.
“The rally was important as it resulted in the formation of the PSC. By rejecting Bersih, I think Ongkili is trying to show something, and it defeats the whole purpose,” he said.
On July 9, more than 10,000 protesters took part in the Bersih 2.0 rally in Kuala Lumpur.
Fellow PSC member and Rasah MP Anthony Loke (DAP) said that Ongkili should have approached the matter as the PSC chairman rather than as a minister.
“This is a bi-partisan committee… this is not a rubber-stamp committee,” he said.
Fellow Pakatan-PSC member Gombak MP Azmin Ali (PKR) was not able to attend the press conference
One man show? Looks like it. The trend has already been set a long time ago. Remember PAC?
Maxi will probably write the report all by himself. He’s a good, obedient boy.
The once quiet Ongkili spoke out shocking nonsense to make sure he is selected for BN election….and why not…who else can replace him?
Typical umno punya cara, aint it?
The skunk is already beginning to emerge from under the sheep’s clothing. Oh, the stench was always there though it was camouflaged under all those rhetoric from the 1Malaysia man.
BN has this propensity to smear and pollute every supposedly good intention with their arrogant, bigoted and biased acts. Why can’t they behave with sincerity just once? Is it so hard? Or are they so corrupted and rotten that it is beyond hope to act with the most basic of decency?
Even if Ongkili did not receive direct instructions to act in this high handed manner, he must have received enough hints and suggestions on what is expected of him for this PSC for him to behave in this manner.
PR, make sure Ongkili knows where he stands. As YB Anthony Loke says, don’t ever let this PSC be the rubber stamp for BN’s nefarious intentions.
Maximus Johnity Ongkili was merely showing off his arrogance.
It is more practical to have Bersih 3.0 rather than PSC.
Keep pressing them or else we should have Bersih 3.0.Nothing to loose.Just go all the way out lah!!!!Do or die now!!!
A 1-man show? R U sure MJO a man or Am Just Otak-kosong creature?
Lapdogs only take instructions from above, nothing new!
PSC a one-man show? Maybe. Its umno we are talking about here. Anyway the country today is full of one “this” and one “that” and and not forgetting of course that one “diamond ring”. Yes. The story about that 1Ring is not about to vanish anytime soon. I might as well add a few thoughts to that story. Nothing about fat mama ros. Not this time. Just the diamond, the ring.
List of worlds most expansive diamond (set as rings) – starting with the priciest:
(1) 5 carat rare pink diamond: $10.8m US.
(2) 6 carat vivid blue diamond: $7.9m US.
(3) E. Taylor diamon …
… wait wait wait. Hold on a second. Something is not quite right here. $10.8m? Only $10.8? And that is the priciest stone in the world? But fat mama’s worth wot? 20+m US.
And people take note that no one would surround truly large expansive stones (and fat mama’s stones is clearly the most expansive in the world) with little stones particularly in a circle. Large expansive stones are usually shown off as standalones – i.e. as solitaire. Accompanying stones are usually used to augment the visual size and appearance of small stones. Secondly, small stones setting in a circle around a main stone in the centre has the effect of reducing the size of the main stone. The reason is because the precious metal needed to grip the outer ring would cover a small part of the main stone for support. The covered part may be very tiny but the point is this. If the stone is truly pricey you do not want any part of it concealed.
Anyway, in my opinion fat mama’s ros 1Ring is ugly. Too flat looking.
