Things will get worse

MAY 13 — Every time Hishammuddin Hussein opens his mouth, I am reminded of two pieces of wisdom which Malaysians should take on board.

Number 1: The apple does fall some way from the tree. His father, Hussein Onn was a man of integrity, fairness and intelligence, Unfortunately for us, Hishammuddin is not his father’s son in any of those categories. Far, far from it.

Number 2: Evil happens when good men do nothing. At best, he is of average competency with a penchant for grandstanding and stock answer rhetoric.

But if Malaysians do not take matters into our hands through our participation in the voting system, he could end up as our leader!

I know it is a frightening thought but look at the paucity of leadership in Umno. Its either him, Shafie Apdal, Mukhriz Mahathir or some other average person.

And if it is Hishammuddin , just think of how bad Malaysia has become and multiply it by a few times.

My friends, this is not unfounded scaremongering.

Who was behind the idea to unsheath the keris at the Umno assembly? Who molly-coddled the cow head protestors who were against the building of a Hindu temple in Shah Alam?

Who is showing bias, not to mention incompetence, in the so-called probe by the police against two bloggers and Utusan Malaysia over its reports that a group of pastors wanted to turn Malaysia into a Christian country?

He is quoted as saying that police were handling the case, but went on to add that it would not be fair to take action against Utusan only because of alleged past indiscretions of the Chinese media.

But you did take action against the Chinese media. The top editor of China Press was suspended for two weeks for publishing an inaccurate report on the resignation of Musa Hassan, the former top cop.

Your government also arrested a reporter from a Chinese newspaper under the Internal Security Act for publishing accurate seditious comments from one of Umno’s thuggish leaders in Penang.

For completeness, Makkal Osai also was suspended for carrying a degrading picture of Jesus.

So, what is Hishammuddin mumbling about? He is mumbling about there being “some truth” about the Utusan report.

This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to give some credence to a report by Umno’s party newspaper. Just think about it.

If Hishammuddin is reluctant to act in an open and shut case, how will he act fairly to protect the interests of non-Malays/non-Muslims in other more pressing cases.

How will our Constitutional rights be protected if he does manage to become president of Umno and PM of Malaysia?

Once again, I say that this is not scare-mongering but the reality based on his track record.

Yes, evil will happen when good Malaysians do nothing.

  1. My oh my! Did you say he is Hussein Onn’s son?
How could a scum become the son of a great leader with dignity?
As far as I know he is NOT a Malaysian leader. He is just a kampong Malay leader.

  2. Basically, UMNO/BN has caused Malaysia to be what it is today – a failed state. Just compare Malaysia and Singapore. In Singapore, race and religion have not been an election issue for decades. In Malaysia under UMNO/BN, race and religion issues are becoming worse by the day! What is shocking and deplorable is that the ruling government UMNO/BN is the main cause of the rapid deterioration in inter-racial and inter-religious harmony. UMNO/BN continually play up race and religion issues to try to divide and rule the country for political expediency. UMNO/BN has a myopic view and basically has no idea and plans to unite the country, although it tries to portray a different but false image of Malaysia in international forums. World leaders and the international community are becoming aware of UMNO’s lies and distorted portrayal of Malaysia’s religious freedom and minority race rights, and hopefully they will take serious action and sanctions against UMNO. UMNO is a corrupted, greedy, and evil party and UMNO has never been sincere about building true and lasting inter-racial and inter-religious unity in Malaysia. All UMNO wants is to maintain its grip on power and continue plundering the country’s wealth for the selfish gain of its corrupt and criminal politicians. Over the last 50 years, Malaysia could have developed into an advanced country like Singapore, perhaps even better as our resources are abundant compared to Singapore, but UMNO/BN has failed miserably. Singapore has overtaken Malaysia by leaps and bounds within less than 50 years. Is this the type of government we want to continue in our beloved country? Vote wisely in the coming GE. Vote UMNO/BN out forever!

  3. Actually I have been trying to go back in history including Malay history, the real one – not the one taught to our children, and find the parallel of when the elite failed to deal with rouge elements in their society. Lets not kid ourselves, what we are talking about is rouge behaviour taking over.

There is a lot of history in Western societies, there is even a few in Asian societies but as far as I know there is none in Malay and regional history. The closest it comes is the Hang Jebat story is only slightly useful.

There is significant history of Malay leadership failing to deal with their failures and weakness and taken over or adopting foreign influence/control. Such a repeat of history, would be disastrous even if the likes of LKY think should be so.

So we are dealing with a whole new chapter in our history. Its completely unpredictable what the Malay electorate will do. Those who know the average Malays understand that they cannot be underestimated to respond to call for moderation in the face of disaster to their community. The idea that the average Malay could be brain-washed to do nothing in the face of impending disaster is bumkum. And that is precisely what is wrong with current thread of political extremism that is allowed to roam free.

Now people this is straight talking. And i agree completely with his view.

  5. I am yet to see something he has done that is praise worthy to the nation. I am yet to see what he has done that upholds justice. I am yet to hear of any good things about him. All I can remember is the kris he held for the blood of C…….! The facial expression I see in every picture of this SO CALLED home minister (in small letters) makes me feel INSECURED!! It is ministers like this that is causing the unpopular/downfall of UMNO-BN!

  6. My crystal ball tells me that Hishammuddin will not be PM. Just don’t speculate. If you were right, you will smugly say “I told you so”. If you were wrong, nobody remembers it.

  7. Mahathir killed off all future Malay leaders…..and with that, UMNO will be dead , if it is not dead already….

The future in Malaysia belongs to young people….and that future could be anyone of the new parties….

  8. Former PM Tun Hussein Onn was known to be an honest man. I suppose Hisham had decided that he shall not live the same way as his dad. It is true, it WILL get worse, In Malaysia, we seem to hve a dynasty of sorts.. Najib’s dad passed the batton to him, and perhaps, Hisham is next in line. Of course, we also have Mukhriz waiting at the wings. With or without Hisham as our future PM, things will get worse, what if the mismangement under BN, such as the Lynas case….
