Call for “1Melayu, 1Bumi” by Utusan Malaysia final confirmation that Najib’s 1Malaysia campaign is big vote-getting circus

Utusan Malaysia, Umno’s official organ, today provided the final confirmation that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia campaign is not a serious nation-building concept but a big vote-getting sham and circus involving 1Malaysia T-shirt, 1M Tupperware, 1M mineral water, 1M burger, 1M email a/c and other new-fangled 1M paraphernalia yet to be conjured up by 1M fortune hunters.

Utusan Malaysia’s call today for UMNO to spearhead a 1Melayu, 1Bumi movement involving all Malay parties, based on the lie and canard that the DAP is intent on toppling the country’s Malay leadership, marks the culmination of a two-year anti-1Malaysia campaign by Utusan Malaysia.

This is irresponsible and anti-national politicking at the gutter worst – trying to pit race against race in plural Malaysia based on lies, calumnies and falsehoods.

This is the old politics of race which must give way to the politics of Malaysian multi-racialism which Utusan Malaysia editors and their “real masters” are fighting against and resisting to the last – but are condemned to defeat.

In the early decades of nationhood, such a racist and anti-national call would have immediately created race tensions in the country but Malaysians of all races are now mature and can see through the hypocrisy and chicanery of the Utusan Malaysia’s 1Melayu, 1Bumi call.

Malaysians of all races want change not because they are anti-Malay or anti-Chinese, anti-Indian, anti-Iban or anti-Kadazan but because they do not want a small coterie of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans and Kadazans camouflaging under the guise of race champions merely to feather their own nests.

DAP had never been a political party for the Chinese, but a Malaysian political party for all Malaysians – Malays, Chinese, Indian, Ibans, Kadazans and orang asli.

In the 1969 general elections, more Indian MPs were elected on the DAP ticket than the MIC. Malay DAP leaders had also been elected as Member of Parliament as well as State Assemblymen in the history of the party.

DAP was also the first Pan-Malaysian political party, with branches not only in Peninsular states but also in Sarawak and Sabah. In fact, the major DAP breakthroughs in the 416 Sarawak general elections were also the result of 33 years of hard political work – of blood, sweat and tears – of Malaysians and Sarawakians who believe in a just and equal society for all Malaysians and Sarawakians and not just for any one ethnic group.

In making the irresponsible anti-national call today, Utusan Malaysia has in fact put Najib to the test – whether he is prepared to bring Utusan Malaysia into line and discipline those who are blatantly challengning his 1Malaysia policy or whether he is an UMNO President who is not in full charge of Umno, ceding real Umno power to the Umno kingmakers lurking in the shadows.

Utusan Malaysia’s 1Melayu, 1Bumi call has also put all the other Barisan Nasional component parties to the test.

MCA President Datuk Chua Soi Lek had been egging on SUPP to boycott the Sarawak state cabinet on the ground that it had lost the Chinese community’s support in the Sarawak state elections.

When asked why MCA had not been consistent with regard to MCA Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the federal cabinet after the 2008 general elections, Chua said it had nothing to do with him and blamed it on former MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat (although it was Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting who was the MCA President who presided over the MCA losses in the 2008 general elections).

Chua did not explain why after he became MCA President, he did not direct the MCA Ministers and Deputy Ministers to resign from the Cabinet but instead ensured that his son became Deputy Minister and appointed several of his MCA confidantes into government through the Senate “backdoor”.

Now, what is Chua and MCA’s position and response to Utusan Malaysia’s 1Melayu, 1 Bumi call especially as Utusan Malaysia implied that such a 1Melayu, 1Bumi campaign would have MCA blessing under his leadership.

  1. The blame goes to Mamaddir who lately claimed that DAP racism has spread to the Chinese community in Sarawak.

Senile people should stop making public statements lest they disrupt racial harmony in the country.

  2. 1sarawak…..The Chief minister should be the chief minister for all races. You cannot say that you can be the Chief Minister for Melanau only. So it is not important if there is any Chinese minister, because you have to represent all the races.

May be we should start another state by subdividing Sarawak into Kuching-Sibu-Miri and others. Over the years, Sarawak has been divided and subdivided into many more divisions. It started with 5 divisions, and now??? These dll divisions still have the best natural resources for BN and they can still gain 100% seats for any state election.

  3. //DAP had never been a political party for the Chinese, but a Malaysian political party for all Malaysians – Malays, Chinese, Indian, Ibans, Kadazans and orang asli//

If thats the case, why most of the top posts held by a particular ethnic? Always stay focused on the key issues, especially language and vernacular education….Well…You can always claim you’re multi racial but the fact is Rakyat cannot be fooled….You can always put the Mercedes emblem on an old Datsun 120Y…. but people still know the model of the car…..Good analogy indeed….

  4. Even Ong Kee Tiat is condemning him as a despicable liar.
Chua is one who does not look into the mirror and look at his own ugliness.
What can one expect from a porn actor and the party that accepts him as President.

Malaysia is the country where all Malaysians call it home whether or not UMNO wants to ensure that they are treated fairly. Najib started the 1Malaysia slogan but he insisted that 1Malaysia is not Malaysians’ Malaysia. Najib did not declare that Malaysia is equally shared by all Malaysians. Thus there are different parts or groupings of Malaysians in Malaysia. Utusan Melayu’s call of 1Melayu will be interpreted by Najib as the first stage of 1Malaysia. But Malaysians know that it is a racist call for polarization by race.

Najib chose to spread the slogan of 1Malaysia as if asking Malaysians to be united after 54 years of the establishment of a nation. But all these years, particularly after the departure of Tunku, UMNO policies have been diving the country by race. Utusan Melayu knows the thinking of UMNO and has now seized on the slogan to make it a perverted 1Melayu unity towards the eternal long route to 1Malaysia. So the billion years journey to 1Malaysia would begin with 1Melayu, and Utusan Melayu is seen to toe Najib’s slogan of 1Malaysia; so Najib would tell Malaysians if he is cornered.

Of course UMNO has been utilizing the united votes given by Malays to lord over this country where 40% belong to other races. These 40% non-Malays are like the 40% minority share holders of a company who have no say on the running of the country.

Najib will say that Utusan Melayu speaks for UMNO and UMNO is above the law. If non-Malay newspapers made the same remark Home Minister Hishamuddin would have invoked ISA on them. That is UMNO 1Malaysia 2Standards.

  6. Chua Soi lek has ulterior motive in calling for Chinese SUPP leaders to be excluded from Sarawak cabinet. He would use this as a case to threaten Chinese voters in Peninsular Malaysia that there would be no Chinese in BN cabinet if MCA lost. CSL hoped that since MCA does not get Chinese support anyway, that threat might encouraged the fools among the Chinese community to fall into the trap. But we know that MCA leaders who lost in the election would be too happy to go through the back door like Koh Tsu Koon.

Now it is clear that Chinese votes for MCA would not bring in any Chinese Minister since those who vote for MCA would be in the minority anyway, the Chinese would do better to vote for Opposition party, any opposition party at all. That would help change the tenants at Putrajaya.

Chua Soi Lek with all his talk about quitting dared not asked SUPP to quite Sarawak government. SUPP is the party for all Sarawakians irrespective of race. It would be racist to suggest that Chinese should not accept appointment in the Cabinet if the party sticks with the government. MCA cannot think beyond race, and yet it was not able to protect the interest of Chinese. MCA leaders utilize the party to enrich themselves as Chinese just like UMNO utilizing NEP to enrich themselves because they are Malays, and some UMNOputras are not even Malay, anthropologically speaking, and chief among them is the descendant of an Indian from Calicut, Kerela, India.

  7. Its been nearly two years since Najib announced his 1Malaysia concept and the same early critics that had predicted Badawi fall when he came into office, predicted Najib’s hotair that will lead to nowhere. Badawi had four years before he took the hit for his failures but he came in with very high popularity. Najib’s hot air is less suicidal than Badawi but with less early popularity, his tenure should not be much longer than Badawi’s possibly even shorter.

The number of people who is tired of Najib’s hot air after two years is growing ever more. They want to move on, not caught in never never land limbo. Hot air do not pay for ever rising food on the table or the ever more expensive mortgage. Its just no tenable.

  8. The voting trend of the non-malays is a direct consequence of the unfair and racist policies of UMNO. Even George Chan was honest about it. Utusan’s racist style of reporting is a reflection of the ketuanan melayu policy of it’s owner UMNO. For non-malays, we have to oppose the history syllabus in schools that contains serious omission and distortion of facts about non-malay role and contribution to our country. UMNO is trying to brainwash our young into thinking that malays are the supreme race in malaysia and other races and religions are insignificant.

  9. Najib said he wants to emulate his father. That sets me worried. Tun Razak changed Malaysian Malaysia to Malay Malaysia. FELDA scheme which he was assigned by Tunku to take charge was developed using government funds which belong to all Malaysians but Razak allowed only Malays to be FELDA settlers. If FELDA settlers were open to only poor Malays were there no poor Chinese at that time?

The Chinese never trusted Tun Razak, and they considered Tun Razak a racist. That was confirmed after Tun Razak seized the opportunity of May 13 to make the other two alliance member MCA and MIC subsidiary parties of UMNO.

Najib started the slogan of 1Malaysia. That is now expanded by Utusan Melayu to 1Melayu. For 1Malaysia to coexist with 1 Malayu, then it means Melayu Malaysia. Najib ‘s elagant silence means consent. He is truly emulating his father.

  10. This shows UNMO themselves are not in unity and splitting. One slogan of Najib, another of Utusan and other UMNO members. They are ignoring Najib.
This is the racial fruit bred by Mahathir duirng hsi 20+ years of authoritative ruling.
Mahathir even could not raise the value of Ringgit and could not match tiny Singapore country who does not have any natural resources. Mahathir is proven to be imcapable but good talker only. Malay people should now wake up and stop corruption in Barisan Nasional. Look at MCA president, they are also corrupted. Who are those corrupted you could not see in UMNO because Anti Corruption Agency is reporting to Prime Minister Department. The coming new federal government must change ACA to report to parliment.

  11. Not only the “fatt one” Malaysia is a joke but the whole of the Malaysian parliament is a JOKE! What does the Rukunegara they implemented say? “…….MEMBINA MASYARAKAT YANG ADIL…….” Tell me if there should be this stupid thing called KETUANAN MELAYU in a MASYARAKAT YANG ADIL?

  12. OKT was as silence as a mouse because he was a timid leader. So he was knocked out from the backside and became TKO.
OTK was outspoken leader but spoke all the wrong tunes, so he too was TKO – the other way around.
CSL is already TKO leader even without the 3 abbreviations.

  13. Cintanegara has awaken from his slumber under the rambutan tree! Leaders in any party are elected by its members, if less number of Malays is in the party, how would the members elect them. Albeit there are Malays who prefer to join DAP to fight for justice but the sad truth is Malays like you you prefer the current prevailing scenario so the the poor Malays in the rural areas are kept innocent of the changing world; through the courtesy of BN and UM and you. Of the sad thing is Malay like you who have gained the crumbles swept off the table by the Mamak will blindly support him while you maintain the poor Malays at the bottom 15% so that the current orchestra can be continued. BN built up a couple of Malay businessmen through easy car permits; then a few friendly Chinese based on gambling and mostly some Indian-owned corporation like Astro, Maxis, Westports. All these players are connected one way or another with the converted Indian. All these piratized corporations have been built up with public tax money one way or another. Based on the euphoria of such publicity, yiu thought you have arrived but still shouting for clutches to stay put just like the Ibrahim fellow. Have you ever ask him as to the amount of cash and opportunities that had passed his fingers but he couldn’t make anything out of them? People like you are a disservice to your community before you prefer that they stay ignorant and feel obliged to you forever. You claimed that such actions are affirmative for your society!

  14. What is the purpose of Cultural Revolution? It was a very clever idea actually. Clever on paper, that is, but not good at all when implemented. Very disastrous in fact. The Revolution was planned because of communism. Communism could take root in china then because of a revolution – i.e. a widespread desire and demand for change. Communism emphasised on communalism at the expense of merit and efforts. As such after a while communism lost its energy because merits and efforts were not needed and encouraged. So in order to keep communism going it would be necessary for the communism government to engineer another revolution. This was purely to whip up the people’s sentiments again.

Now this is precisely what umno (via perkasa and utusan) is doing. Umno has remained stagnant for 50 yrs (ever wonder why the country has stagnated since independence?). Sentiments of the malays towards umno and their emotional ties to the party are growing thinner and thinner with the passage of time. And umno too does not believe in merit and efforts. Since dr mamak’s time umno became synonymous with wealth-by-connection. Umno detached itself from the common malays. And worse, young malays do not share the same sort of sentiments or emotions towards the party as the older folks. Now reality is showing. Umno is losing malay support, esp the young, educated as well as urban ones. This problem actually started to show during dr mamak’s time. However dr mamak then was still able to whip the general malay populace into compliance. But the present (and indeed the future) crop of young malays are of a different breed altogether. They belong to the “Dont mess with me” group of people. Umno cannot tell them what to do. So a desperate umno, through utusan and perkasa, decided to engineer a revolution. The idea is not too different from that of the disastrous Cultural Revolution in china. The present umno revolution too will be disastrous like the Cultural Revolution because it is obvious that umno has failed blatantly to connect with the young in its effort. Instead of using a more current idea, umno decided simply to re-cycle its 50yr old “revolution” idea, i.e. “umno fights for malay rights”. Yeah, big deal. So wot? The malay youths of today are not impressed or concerned. Having gone on meritless basis for decades, umno now could not think clearly or create new ideas.

Umno, you are on borrowed time. Go. dig yourself a grave. Make it deep.

This so-called Malay your refer to must be the same kind as the descendant from the Indian from Calicut, Kerela, India. They want Ketuanan Melayu policy to perpetuate so that he could gain at the expense of the true Malays.
