For first time in 48-year history, Miri leads in forefront for political change in Sarawak’s 10th general elections

In the past 48 years, it was either Kuching or Sibu which led the state in political change.

This is now different. For the first time in Sarawak’s 48-year history, Miri is leading in the forefront for political change in Sarawak’s 10th general elections as evident in the DAP ceramahs in the past four nights – with unprecedented increasing crowds, public support as well as public donations every night.

Miri is now the cynosure of Sarawak and Malaysia – in the very frontline for political change in Sarawak and Malaysia and all eyes are on Miri on polling day on April 16.

Together with DAP Piasau candidate Ling Sie Kiong and Pujut candidate Fong Pau Teck and Miri DAP leaders, I had a walkabout in Miri and it is clear that there is something special in the air in Miri – in fact, even for Sarawak -next Saturday.

If I am asked now, I will not say that we have crossed the line towards victory for the 15 state assembly constituencies DAP is contesting, but there have been daily increases in support increasing the chances of success of winning in these constituencies come polling day.

DAP members and supporters must however not take things for granted for we must wrest every single available vote on polling day, or we may still miss the boat.

The daily improvement in the electoral stakes apply not only to DAP but also for all other Pakatan Rakyat candidates.

Clearly Barisan Nasional leaders are aware that something is stirring among the Sarawakian voters and there can be great surprises on polling day.

This is why Barisan Nasional leaders are exuding the scent that they can suffer electoral losses and they are beginning to panic.

This is also why Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has done something no other Prime Minister had ever done in the past 48 years – cancelling the Cabinet meeting next week and dragooning all Ministers to campaign in Sarawak as if he is fighting for his own political life.

Najib must have been greatly worried by the awakening of Sarawakians to their rights and power, best illustrated by the awakening of the people of Miri in the past four nights.

  1. All Najib can do is limit the damage that is already set in motion. He is thinking he can bring the bigwigs from Peninsula to ‘impress’ the voters to win back some votes. At best he will resort to ‘buy-election’ if the Federal charm offensive don’t work. His hesitancy to go straight to ‘buy-election’ shows that in the end, in the final days of campaigning, he will be laying the grounid work to replace Taib and put his own puppet in place in Sarawak.

Perhaps, what PR should do is to sent the message to Dayaks, the Najib is not here to take charge of BN campaign, he is here to install UMNO’s puppet after Taib is forced to leave by PR. The Dayaks should be warned of what happened in Sabah..

  2. The voters must be reminded not to be lured by cash handouts.
Don’t cheapen the value of your vote. It is more powerful than ISA.
Kit, Please tell them to take the cash and vote for Pakatan.

  3. Wow….suddenly Sarawak is so important to the Federal Govt.
In the past…BN won few seats without contesting and only Deputies of UMNO B showed up and that was already too much.
Now the whole band of robbers and thieves…short of ring leader…Mahathir.
    Suddenly mamak is so guiet.

  4. Sdr Lim, it is good to be confident and to see the tide changing. But our PM has not started the “you help me, I help you” campaign yet. Watch out for the next four five days, the stake is too high for them to concede so easily. Also, it is not just about victory for DAP candidates only. DAP must also help out other PR parties – we do not want a situation where Chinese are just strong opposition. We must genuinely work with all right minded Malaysians to ensure a viable two-party state to hold the government of the day accountable and responsible for all its actions/inactions. Give all Malaysians, no matter who they are, a rightful place under the Malaysian sun and I am sure this country will be far surpassing any country in this region. Unleash the true potential of Malaysia. The people have suffered long enough under inept and corrupted government.

  5. One thing for sure CSL is still in cloud 9; if his chairmanship at PPC iheard right. He isn’t bothered. He still thought the world owed BN/MCa for a living. We all hoped for something special YB Kit, so special that BN leaders will want to jump from the 3rd floor!

  6. Najis is going to burst out in tears and shit.So i suggest someone in Sarawak to offer him soft handkerchief(Anakku) for fear of injuring his eyes and also the disposable diaper to contain the most afraid diarrhoea.Sure tak tahan to shit shit shit like the now disquiet i bra him(Anakku also but pasar malam one)

  7. Aiyah, our taiko taiko are gathering crowd there but pushing away the crowd here.Hallo Auto-moderater,please concentrate fullly there in Sarawak and let us here to contribute moral support.

A week’s campaign cannot reverse the feelings Sarawakians have against BN.

Peh Moh said that it was he who talked Najib into releasing the Malay language Bible. But did he also tell Najib to ensure that the Bible became an issue so that he could show that he had an influence, like the usual two-hand game? To make it seem real, Pek Moh said that it was stupid of Putrajaya to stamp and deface the Bible. He had selected Kerismuddin as the fall-guy; Kerisman can’t ever stand straight, with the quality of the grey matter residing between his two years.

It may be time for PK to talk to the successor of Pek Moh about the relationship with PK when it forms the next federal government.

Mamakthir is not exactly very friendly with Taib Mahmud. Given amnesty Taib may leave BN.
Now the whole band of robbers and thieves…short of ring leader…Mahathir.
    Suddenly mamak is so guiet.

  10. Sorry to mess up

Mamakthir is not really very friendly with Taib Mahmud. Mamak only wants Sarawak as a deposit but he could not do without Taib.

  11. ///Independent candidate Dominique Ng is confident that he will not finish last in the three-cornered fight for the Padungan seat the April 16 Sarawak state election. Ng, who is the incumbent, said he…///–Malaysiakini

So he was quite happy finishing second and let BN win. He should have his head examined.

  12. Looks like people in Sarawak just cant wait to get BN out…replay of 2008 in the peninsular……

It really looks like the End of Days thing for BN, Jibby, Rosmak, the Toon and the white haired devil….

But what I cant understand is , the white haired devil managed to get two doctors, supposedly heart specialists (when the country already short of heart Drs)…to stand on the BN ticket..

When even the Orang Ulu is considering throwing away this corrupt rotten government….where are the brains and conscience of these doctors…..???????????

  14. Najib is worried, therefore expect the next half of the campaign to be full of even more abuses of power, partisanship of police and the election commission, sleeze on Anwar etc.. But Sarawakians must be resolute and think not only of their future (which can immediately change if Pakatan gains majority seats) but also for Malaysia.

  15. With Najib taking over the campaign in Sarawak is an opportunity. Its time to up the ante and scream to the Dayaks that penjajah UMNO is coming to take over Sarawak. Taib is finally exposed as Raja Boneka. Look at the poisonous racist message they are saying to the Melayu-Melanau like they do in Peninsular. The Dayaks must drive away the Penjajah…

  16. When told that the PR’s crowds at their ceramahs are big and getting bigger all the time,
response was that those who attended were, in fact, BN members!!
Now, if someone were to tell them that donations were given freely at these ceramahs, what
    would their answer be?

  17. Looks like majority of Miri people are ready
And they will be praised to the skies
If they oust corrupted BN and make history
Not falling into BN’s traps and lies

    May the anticipated Miri tsunami
Spread to rural regions of the state
Then People’s Power will achieve victory
Giving Sarawak’s saviour PR the mandate

  18. Bangkitlah Hornbills. Go after the BN vultures. Say ” TAK NAK ” to them ( take whatever they give you ). Kick out Pek Moh and chase UNMOB/BN back to West Malaysia before they control all of Sarawak. The time is ripe after 48 years as you now have PR to help you. You may not have another chance like this for a long, long time to come if you one. Tora ,,, Tora …. Tora

  19. M’siakini reported on Alice Lau, DAP candidate that “She only manages to enter three longhouses to speak with some 60 villagers, as longhouse headmen had received instructions not to entertain opposition candidates.”
Guys, pls help our Ms Lau …..
Surely there’ll be children and relatives of these headmen who could tell them what’s going on with their land and timber and living standards for the past 40 years ???

  20. Aiyah..blardy idiots..these long house ‘headinthe buttmen’-CHAUKAU.I thought monsterball will ride high on hornbill whichever colour it be,fire or fart hard randomly on these idiots.Teach them a serious lesson!!

  21. My friend the ‘Deep Throat’ told me today that BN and other Intelligence sources see Sarawak falling to the Opposition by 37-34 as of Saturday. That is why the BN people are panicking.

More importantly I am advised, if Sarawak falls, Sabah will quickly follow, so the Borneo states will go Opposition. The Sabahans are watching very, very carefully what happens to Sarawak.

The peninsular people have therefore decided to take charge of the campaign as Taib is definitely a liability now and cannot deliver.

Also be careful of Jafaruddin who is challenging Taib. Don’t be deceived. He is a loyal BN man and will support BN if he wins. So go all out for Suriati the PKR candidate.

DAP must not be so upbeat. Even if it wins all 15 seats it will mean nothing if its allies PKR and PAS don’t do well in the end.

So go and support the others. Every one of ‘Dato PR’ must do well. Win decisively. Remember, a wounded Tiger can be dangerous as it will be desperate.

Another thing, what will DAP in Sarawak and nationally become should it lose or don’t do well? Are you all mentally and psychologically prepared for this scenario especially after all the hard work? Think about it.

That is why it is very important that you MUST do well and win, win, win !!!!!

  22. Just found out that 50% of sarawak voters are christians. If they vote with their heads, 2/3 majority for PR is possible. But if they vote with their a#ses, jib will reign for another 10 years

  23. just like bodowi, they were sleeping and stealing for the past 54 years . Now for once in their existence they want to show they care? kick them out like Ben Ali, mobarak, gaddafi. These umno goons cannot be trusted as long as our generation lives. I will repeat 3 times like katak Ali.

Kick them out!!kick them out!!KICK THEM OUT!!!!!!!!

  24. Sherriff warned:

A WOUNDED TIGER IS STILL A DANGEROUS TIGER.

How very true!. So go for the kill. Do it cleanly and above all, be merciless damn it!

Taib, his cronies and the entire umno gang deserve no mercy at all. Not for all that they have done to the people of sarawak and to the beautiful land of the hornbill. No. Not this time. No more.

So fly home, Sarawakian. Walk, crawl, peddle or climb if necessary. Just go home to vote. It is your chance and duty to bring Taib and umno down. And to stop the rot in sarawak.

    God bless sarawak.

  25. Kuching….Sibu…DAP Hornbills sit pretty and strong.
Now the HQ for attack shifted to Miri.
DAP is versatile and move around.
Mahathir not in Sarawak because not friendly with Tiab Mahmud?
I tell you….friendly pr not friendly…he will go …if thinks Sarawakians respect and trust him.
I think he knows..one Dictator is already too many…and White Hair Bomoh rules for more than 30 years.
Where he got face to go to Sarawak…loosing out to Sarawak ..White Hair art of stealing better than him.
    Mamak needs lots of projects.
White hair needs only forest trees…to steal billions.
White Hair smarter crook than that half cast la.
Maybe last two days…..he come to try his desperate moves to win votes..for his adopted son.
DAP Hornbills with rockets are weapons od destructions over thieves and robbers…where BN have no answers.
PS: Love to see Mamak speak at Sarawak and get bad eggs thrown at him.
Since DAP registered the biggest crowd puller…this half cast claiming to be pure blood Malay…knows when to stay at home and keep quiet.

  26. So many longhouses chiefs are afraid to open doors and let PR candidates in.
BN brainwashing reaches such a low level.
Yet Najib tell all Sarawakians to trust him.
If he and white hair can be trusted……they need not be afraid to let the Opposition speak freely.
Few Longhouses Chiefs have exposed how afraid these two crooks are.
