Cabinet next week must ensure Teoh Beng Hock’s death does not end up as “a heinous crime without criminals”

More than 25 years ago, the term “heinous crime without criminals” referred to the first biggest financial scandal in the country, the RM2.5 billion Bumiputra Malaysia Finance (BMF) scandal – when no one was held criminally responsible in the country for the financial malpractices, abuses of power and gross breach of criminal trust even though it claimed one innocent life, the cold-blooded murder of the young BMF Asst General Manager in Hong Kong, Jalil Ibrahim.

The Cabinet next week must ensure that Teoh Beng Hock’s mysterious death at Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Hqrs in Shah Alam 18 months ago on July 16, 2009 does not end up as a “heinous crime without criminals” following Wednesday’s Open Verdict of the inquest into Teoh’s death.

MCA President Datuk Dr. Chua Soi Lek has expressed full support for the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s announcement on the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry, saying that the move showed that the Government was transparent and sensitive to the case.

This statement is testimony that the MCA President is completely insensitive to the sense of despair, outrage and consternation, felt not only by the bereaved and aggrieved members of the Teoh Beng Hock family that their 18-month agonizing wait for justice and closure had been in vain with the “Open Verdict” of the Teoh Beng Hock inquest, but that of the ordinary Malaysians as well.

Can Chua explain how the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry specifically excluded from investigating the cause of Teoh’s death but only confined to the investigation procedures of MACC could help in uncovering the cause of Teoh’s death – taking a further step in pursuing the inquest finding excluding suicide as the cause of Teoh’s death and the important finding of Teoh’s prefall neck injury?

The MCA and all other Ministers next Wednesday must ensure that the Royal Commission of Inquiry is not a farce, not only in terms of reference and scope of investigations but also in membership – a RCI that Malaysians want and not one which started off without credibility or public support whatsoever.

Will MCA Ministers agree if the Attorney-General’s objective is to seek a revision of the “Open Verdict” of the Teoh Beng Hock inquest to revise it to one of “death by suicide”?

  1. No need for RCI to probe Teoh’s death, says Soi Lek
    =================================

I wonder how many votes MCA has lost by uttering the above comment. It is sad for MCA to have an inexperienced leader.

Soi Lek should not blame others for the decline in Chinese support come GE13.

  2. Yes the MCA President deserved to be rapped. The best way to describe him is to label him a scoundrel devoid of any fair play and sense of justice. I think he has just lost completely any credibility to lead. But Sdr Lim, what about PAS and PKR? Have we heard anything they have to say on TBH’s latest development? Why the deafening silence?

  3. TBH has suffered injury before his plunge to death. This happened when he was under MACC’s custody. If MACC is truly sincere they would have left no stone unturn & had already come up with the truth. Instead they are using all their might to cover up the truth. It only led people to think that MACC is working under the instruction of “well meaning” party to bully Pakatan’s Selangor.

  4. If I understand correctly, the RCI called by Najib is restricted to MACC’s procedures only and not specifically aimed at how TBH sustained pre injury. If they can uncover the truth about his injury, it may be linked to his fall where a murder may then be established.

The whole world knows Najib’s RCI is scratching at the wrong place. It really makes us looked stupid internationally. Sigh!

  5. From now until he gets his next term in office, Najib’s plan is basically to cheat, squirm, slime and finally buy his way into his next term. That is basically his strategy. He need to muscle every penny of political muscle to make sure he gets enough of a mandate to survive. His hold is that tenous.

The only thing that he will give into are ransom of to guarantee his political future. You can be sure that is what UMNO/BN members are doing right now – go to him with every imaginable schemes to win as many votes as he can in return for cash.

Justice, doing the right thing? You can forget it. Cheat, squirm, slime and buy.

This is the payback to Najib for getting rid of Ong Takut and sidelining further inquiry into PKFZ that will embarrass UMNO and MCA.

Najib wants to save the cows and cars people from being prosecuted for TBH’s death because it will reflect badly on the culture of corruption and criminality within UMNO/BN.

It’s obvious the team that interrogated TBH knows why and how TBH was killed; it’s obvious to a 2-year old kid that suicide is out of the question.

YB, rally Pakatan around this issue and take it nationwide. This and issues like Kugan’s death in which another cover up is being instituted are gifts from the gods to Pakatan to bury UMNO/BN in the next GE!!

  7. CSL is a HUNG president for sure. He took the job of Penang Port Commission hoping that his ” humbleness” can swing the sales to his cronies with some financial support from some Chinese company. Well, UMNO politics will not permit that. His predecessor, LLS had sold out all Chinese interests long ago and now he has to retain some for his forthcoming court case; hence no more leverage left. So CSL, what you gonna do? Maybe you should ask to exchange it for the Chair at Port Klang, which a many times larger though all saleable assets have been mortaged over there. From the cursing of the logistics industry that appeared recently in the SUN, it is without doubt Kong can only “kong” to his grandchildren, nothing more. If the current scenario is anything to go by, I can only predict the IMMINENT EXTINCTION of the MCA whose president is good enough to be only a chairman of the 4th largest port in the nation; even then the term chairman is over glorified, at least in most companies; his ideas are used as guidelines; here he only rubberstamp decisions made by cronies of politicians! MCA , you have achieved the pinnacle of your glory!!

  8. A life is lost. The cause is not suicide. Isn’t that pertinent to find out the reasons of the tragedy ? Malaysia is not some rogue country in Africa. It must probe the case until the truth is uncovered.

  9. Soiled ek?

Has any tainted politican any shred of credibility left?

One who is caught with his pants down is a flasher; hence, he can’t bare his teeth and shows he is toothless.

So how can soiled- ek be effective save be an apple polisher for uMNo-lah.

  10. Chua Soi Lek is quite consistent with the philosophy of MCA. If MCA has been willing to make Chinese weak, and responsible to have made Malaysian Chinese in the sorry state that they are in so that those in MCA leaderships can become rich, the sufferings of TBH and his families would to him be quite insignificant to the sins committed by MCA. To him, adding a few Chinese or subtracting a few Chinese to the list of sufferings matters little. How can he and his MCA crooks offend Najib, the hands that feed the dogs?

  11. Response from Dr. Pontip
    ================

Dr. Pontip was interviewed by China Press on 8 January 2011 (refer to yesterday evening’s China Press, page C10).

She said she would not want to give anymore comments since Teoh Beng Hock’s case has closed. She admitted that it was never in her mind that the decision from the court was an “open verdict”.

Dr. Pontip was on her way to a temple when interviewed by China Press through electronic means.

  12. Chua if u know what ur master wants, the least u could do is to keep your mouth shut, get busy licking something … otherwise u could hv said something like “…i wish macc know their priority well, look into alleged corruption involving millions and billions n not mere RM2400…”

  13. In 2007, mca’s loh seng kok criticised the biased history content in school textbooks and as a result, was not allowed by umno to contest in the 2008 GE. Now snake-in-the-eagle’s-shadow Chua SL is trying his bestest to avoid the same fate.

People go missing – No one accountable
Immigration records go missing – No one accountable

C4 goes missing – No one accountable
Preamble to the RUKUNEGARA goes missing – No one accountable
People die for no reasons – No one accountable

Just what sort of country is Malaysia where no one is accountable for all these things? Then why do we need the government? Wonder what will happen if NAJIS goes MISSING! Can we call for a celebration!!!
