The Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Umno President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had acted completely out of turn in issuing a most improper and unwarranted “stern warning” to MCA to accept the decision of the government and should not trigger another debate on the word “Allah”.
Does this mean that the MCA leadership, despite having four Ministers in Cabinet, are not allowed to raise in tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting a proposal to ask the Ministers to take a policy decision to withdraw the Home Ministry’s appeal against the Lau Bee Lan judgment of the Kuala Lumpur High Court in January which allowed the Catholic Church to use the word “Allah” in the Bahasa Malaysia section of its publication, Herald?
Such a proposal in tomorrow’s Cabinet would be most timely, appropriate and fully in accord with the national interests in view of the admission by the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein that his predecessor Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar should not have banned the word “Allah” from being used by the Catholic Church.
Are there two classes of Ministers – those who can raise issues in Cabinet and ask for policy decisions to be made or reviewed and the lower class of Ministers who cannot raise issues which are regarded as “sensitive” by the first class of Ministers?
Malaysians are entitled to know when this classification of Ministers into two categories – between those who can raise issues for decision by the Cabinet and others who cannot do so and must go along with what had been decided for them – got institutionalized, as Malaysians have been told that all Cabinet Ministers are equal in power and responsibility in the Cabinet with the Prime Minister being the primus inter pares?
Another example of such lopsidedness in the power equation among Cabinet Ministers and different Barisan Nasional component parties is still fresh in the people’s mind – where the government decision to reject the legalization of football betting was made at the Umno Supreme Council and not in the Cabinet – and without consultation with the MCA or other BN component parties!
Will the four MCA Ministers ignore Muhyiddin’s most improper and unwarranted “stern warning” and raise at Cabinet tomorrow the issue of Home Ministry withdrawing its appeal?
If there is a MCA Minister who has the courage of conviction to formally ask the Cabinet tomorrow to revisit the issue to resolve once and for all the prolonged and unnecessary “Allah” controversy in the interests of promoting inter-racial and inter-religious understanding and harmony, what would happen to him or her?
///PUTRAJAYA, Aug 3 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gave a stern warning today to MCA over its appeal for the government to rescind the ban on non-Muslims use of the word “Allah”, after Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein admitted that the decision was regrettable.///
What good is MCA as a political party when it cannot have a stand? MCA could not even echo its agreement with Hishamuddin!
Muhyiddin was quick to agree with Mamakthir that 1Malaysia did not unite all races, when it was clear that Mamakthir has no intention at all to treat all Malaysians equal which would have ensured unity. 1Malaysia is a vision, whether Najib meant to work towards it or not. The vision cannot be said to have failed to unite the people, unless Muhyiddin himself does not agree with that vision which is clearly against Mamakthir’s continued racist views supporting ketuanan Melayu. The persons who want to see division among the different races have no right to talk about unity.
Mamakthir said that he does not know what 1Malaysia mean to people of different races. He is trying to create confusion when clearly 1Malaysia should mean the same for all races. Mamakthir is fighting to have a role as racist champion for Malays though he truly does not belong.
It should be reminded that the special position of Malays provided under article 153 was recognition that Malays were weak. It was not a special right. Mamakthir obviously wants Malays to be seen as weak so that he could capitalize on the so-called Malays weakness. Mamakthir does not want Malays to be strong though true Malays care about the pride of their race. After all Mamakthir is really a Malayali from Kerala. Incidentally, Malayali as a language is being promoted in Singapore. Wonder whether that was welcomed by Mamakthir.
Ha, ha, d cow whipped MCA 4 making a sensible statement which happened 2 b d statement of DAP
Wah lau eh, d cow did not care if DAP n MCA hv d same principle on dis issue
Talk alike meant DAP n MCA r in cahoots with each other, n MCA kena whipped
So pathetic MCA
On d other hand, Umno B can openly seduce PAS 2 champion ketuanan Melayu, while MCA kwai kwai diam diam
What a conspicuous master-serf relationship!
Oh dear. Mca obviously is more confused than that confused malay gentleman who confronted guan eng in komtar.
Let them be. Leave mca alone. Johorean chinese, take note pls.
Likewise, Malaysians remain confused as to what exactly the new administrative model reflects the current structure if Pakatan took over the Federal. Islamic state? Malaysian Malaysia?
Now all is clear. Its in the open. The “Acting’ PM has asked them to literally ‘shut up’.
MCA must always toe the line and blindly obey. They must keep their mouths shut. Their opinions don’t count. Not even in the Cabinet.
There are more senior and more equal people in BN than them.
Just see how they have started to sekrew MCA by taking action against Dr Ling, the Tun of MCA. More to come.
MCA and Gerakan should leave BN if they are just going to be ‘coffee=boys’ like Saiful. Besides, they don’t even make good coffee.
If MCA dares raise at Cabinet tomorrow the issue of Home Ministry withdrawing its appeal on “Allah” controversy, the moon will fall from the sky!
As one of UMNO members puts it, MCA is only a “passenger” and UMNO is the driver.
In addition to MCA ministers, christian and non muslims ministers especially those from Sabah and Sarawak too must voice their support and concern in the cabinet to asking the HM to withdraw its appeal on the “ALLAH” controversy. I think east malaysian non muslim ministers carry more weight than the MCA’s ministers. Lets us hope these big boys turn man to face this particular case and not let down all christians and non-muslims once again.
O no, MCA is not a passenger but a spare tyre dat can b discarded anytime
Ah! Chua Soi Lek has already backtracked, it has been reported.
They must have found out where MCA’s g-spot is.
You know, the ‘gostan’ button.
A Malaysian Malaysia Islamic State with freedom to choose which faith you wish to devote your life to……..bodoh cintanegara.
Don’t try to be too smart to confuse readers…you UMNO B worm.
We are out to stamp out CORRUPTIONS….by voting change of government.
Aiyah what can you expect from the Useless Buggers in MCA,MIC and all the other partners in BN.All they can do is to whimper Meow Meow at the feet of Big Brother UMNO and quickly swallow the crumbs and quietly wipe off the salivas off their dirty faces.Mr maverik offer to testify in LLS trial will end with I can’t remember to all questions and after all it is just a Ploy by BN grand design for the 13GE with the end result like the Lingam case and Eric Chia trial. Nothing will materialise and all will be set free by our questionable Judiciary System in our Bolehland country.1Malaysia is an empty slogan to confuse the Malaysian people and even our Mamak exPM is confused by his own people inspite using to the full his 22 years of racial politics and the rots of ketuan Melalyu to polarised our people. The road ahead for a truly united Malaysian nation is to change this Corrupt BN Govt and Replace it with Pakatan Govt.so that All will have an equal rightful place under the Malaysian Sun.
I would suggest CSL to write an appeal letter to DPM and PM, just like how they appeal for the bright student rejected by Universtity and Scholarship by his govement.
CSL, get to know your boss! main-main, nanti tangkap, baru tau? we got proof you know!
MCA MIC and other small component parties in the so-called BN are no partners. The fact of the matter is they are all stooges,a kind of running dogs, beggers and bxll carrirers of Umno. I’m of the opinion all these son of the bitxh must be axed in the next poll including their master . It’s best not to waste any more breath with them.
Quo vadis MCA? Tell the truth to Umno Baru, and you are ganging up with the Devil DAP; Carry on with your driveling obsequiousness, and you will lose in the elections, like poor Samy.
For the first time, I sympathize with you fellows.
