When Muhyiddin repeats he is Malay first, Malaysian second, no wonder there is blackout at the MCA 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme briefing

Yesterday there were two 1Malaysia programmes – the launching of the 1Malaysia Motivation Expedition Squad by Gagasan Pelajar Melayu Semananjung (GPMS) by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme (GTP) briefing organisd by the new MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek and featuring the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Idris Jala.

When Muhyiddin proudly reiterated that he is Malay first and Malaysian second at the GPMS launch, no one is surprised that there was prolonged blackout at the 1Malaysia GTP briefing in MCA headquarters on the same day.

In fact, every time Muhyiddin declares that he is Malay first and Malaysian second, he is delivering an open slap in the face of the 1Malaysia and KPI Minister, Senator Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon.

Forty, thirty or even 20 years ago, the twisted logic and reasoning given by Muhyiddin to justify his “Yes, I am a Malay first and no apologies” stance might have a powerful market, but in the 21st century and the second half-century of Malaysia’s nation-hood, such ultra views are facing a diminishing support base.

If Muhyiddin had espoused the view that he is Malay first and Malaysian second in the sixties, seventies, eighties and even nineties, not many would criticize him.

But for him to remain unchanged even in the year 2010, while the country has undergone over five decades of nation-building, Muhyiddin should not think he could get away with such ultra views so easily.

It is precisely because Malaysia has evolved in the past 53 years to become a more united multi-racial Malaysian nation that the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had come out with his signature theme and campaign of 1Malaysia, where everyone regards of himself or herself as Malaysian first and ethnicity, whether Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan or Iban second.

It is of course not possible to make everyone of the 27 million Malaysians to adopt such a 1Malaysia objective overight, but if the Deputy Prime Minister himself is not prepared to set an example of being a Malaysian first and Malay second; the MCA President, Datuk Chua Soi Lek and Gerakan President Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon dare not declare that they are Malaysian first and Chinese second; they are making nonsense of the entire 1Malaysia concept and slogan.

  1. The man Mahathir called ‘the richest man in UMNO’, how to Malay first? – He is Muhiyiddin first, then his wife(s), children, siblings (14 of them!!), relatives, friends, even Samy Vellu, Palinivel, CSL even Singapore businessmen first.. got knows how many more first before it gets to anyone else..Go ask his former mentor Othman,

  2. A former DAP MP/Perak Assemblyman has stated the following during the 1990 general election:
“It was mentioned during the 1990 general election, that he was neither Indian nor Chinese—his late father an Indian and late mother a Chinese. In his campaign speech later that evening, he made it clear that he may not be a true Indian or a true Chinese, but he was a true Malaysian. He was Malaysian first, Chinese or Indian second. ”

  3. Samy Vellu is dead. Najib basically declared that Hulu Selangor either win or Samy is finished. MIC is going to be so desperate, plenty of blaming to go around – things will get out of control in Hulu Selangor. The end of MIC-BN is near…

Have we “become a more united multi-racial Malaysian nation” since 53 years ago? Many of those who have lived and seen Independence to the 1970s may find this assessment contentious. Especially after May 13 1969, Tun Dr Mahathir’s long 22 year administration with rise of Ketuanan ideology, proliferation/expansion of the NEP and growing Islamisation.

Before the 1980s where did anyone hear of “Pendatang” in political lexicon, “Allah” cannot be used in Bahasa in churches or groups like PERKASA???? The races then sat together in common activities with less consciousness of their communal and cultural separateness.

The statement criticising Muhyiddin to having remained “unchanged even in the year 2010, while the country has undergone over five decades of nation-building” – that ultra-ism has less market and diminishing support base today (as compared to in the sixties, seventies, eighties and even nineties) is debatable taking the country and the average as a whole……Talking about “five decades of nation-building” we’re not sure its “building” or “unwinding” or unraveling with emigration peaking between March 2008 and August 2009 to 305,000 persons leaving the country! This is acid test for such things were never heard of in the sixties, seventies, eighties and even nineties!

It remains to be tested perhaps in this Hulu Selangor by election on how a liberal and multiracial Zaid would fare.

In past decades all kinds of national slogans urging unity (eg Bangsa Malaysia) have proven ineffective against the trend of increasing polarisation and there’s no reason to think that the inclusiveness of 1 Malaysia Government Transformation Programme (GTP) by itself, and relying on its inherent message, can arrest that worsening trend in the face of a consistent lack of political will on the part of those who espouse the message to take it seriously or implement it!

For example Muhyiddin’s reiterating that he is Malay first and Malaysian second not only faces no contradiction from Malaysia and KPI Minister, Koh Tsu Koon but it actually influence KTK to desist from declaring his Malaysian first and Chinese second; and furthermore Muhyiddin’s stance is apologised for and defended by non other than the architect of 1 Malaysia, the PM himself.

So how can it be that there is no market for racial politics compared to (say) in the sixties, seventies, eighties and even nineties??? Muhyiddin has his market!

  5. MIC president Samy Vellu hand picked his own deputy Palinivel, rejected by NR and MY once again re-affirmed that they are of no use to UMNO. If both still have any dignity left, they should resigned or take the MIC out of BN. Failing which I think, people will mock them and MIC as well.

  6. I think MY has created a new unprecedented era for all malaysians to feel race first, citizen second. The race first among multi racial malaysian has become a kind of a new fashion and everwhere you go you would hear “I’m a kadazan,I’m a dayak,I’m a malay ,I’m an Indian and I’m a chinese. Ultimately I wonder if it’s conducive to creating a united malaysia ?

  7. Moo-hee-din knows exactly what he is doing. UMNO wants to be all things to all men, so Najib tells non-Malays we must be Malaysian first, and his deputy tells the Malays they must be Malay first. Contradictory ? Nah, vote us in first and we will sort out the contradictions later.

  8. A simple formula is to declare that all Malayans are Malay and must have Malay name to make “1-Malaysia” more meaningful, and thus solve a very big problem, no more DISCRIMINATION, 100% bumiputra, all entitle to NEP/NEM, equal opportunities, all can get scholarships, and a chance to become PM.

  9. That cow tries to win Indian voters’ hearts by showing up at Indian camp for tasting Indian samsu…. What a hypocrite cow?

Hanjin Chengho, a champion mama topper, has been campaigning pretty hard for his master BN/UMNO in in order to win huge rewards with bigger paychecks!

  10. To be more specific, they will now say

“I am Bugis first, Malay second, Malaysian third or I am Minangkabau first, Malay second, Malaysian third or I am Javanese first, Malay second, Malaysian third etc.”

  11. “What about me?” said Tun Mamak. Damn…moooo.
I now, have to say, “I am mamak first with Indian DNA”
Hey, mud head, how about those crossed with Arab, Indo, Caucasian and even the latest find, like chengho, with half a human brain…are they malay first?
So nothing so big deal to be Malay first is’nt it, Mr Lembu Head.

  12. I am from muhibbah nation ,in the spirit of 1Malaysia , let’s start with 1School ,1 culture and 1language , religion no cannot be 1religion this is free country , freedom of expression . what about 1Name , LKS becoming kamaruddin , bunch of suckers becoming lintah darat?
In America they known as African American , Chinese American , Italian American, others . muhibbah, muhibbah…muhibbah…

  13. Chengho should stand for election….under the smilely cracko Independent candidate banner.
This idiot sometimes talk sense out of senseless issues and then twist them to make nonsense ..all over again.
Yes….he should talk like that more often and let both sides F him left and right.
Dare he carry the National flag upside down to show the Nation is in distress under UMNO?
Muhyiddin trying so hard to twist.
MCA..Gerakan and MIC…no guts….all depend on Najib whims and fancies…happiness and juggling success. Right now…all gone case…no unity in all BN parties….where got “1Malaysia” within them?
All hypocrites of the highest order.

  14. By this logic, if Malay in Brunei/Indonesia want sovereignity for some land in Sabah/Sarawak, May give them eh?? Likewise for Malay in South Thailand for land in Kedah/Kelantan/ Perak /Perlis, Malay in Singapore, land in Johor?? All may??
    Malay first, Malaysia second??

  15. Mooooo is d smart 1; u want 2 b M’sian first, go ahead, Mooo wants 2 b Malay first, cos Malays get 2 enjoy all d goodies (discounts, APs, preferential shares, ASN, contracts, etc), NOT Malaysians, stupid!

News: An average of one Malaysian man and an Indonesian woman from Sumatra have been getting married every day for the past five months, , with 80% of the brides being second wives
    Wow, betul gatai punya
Will d Indon women become Malay citizens later n enjoy all d benefits due 2 Malays
They replace M’sians who migrated 2 other lands
Ibrahim Ali n Perkasa must b very happy, number of Malays increases fast n furious, n Perkasa can demand higher share of d nation’s wealth 4 Malays, bagus 1

  16. As long as there are still opportunities to make money, the hard-working minorities will continue to tolerate what ever sufferings and discriminations. Unlike the majority, they can survive anywhere in the world, and when the economic climate is not suitable, they will pack off. Malaya will definitely become Zimbabwee of Asia.

  17. All these what’s first and what’s second is a lot of cock and bull!
Only no-brainers can think of such things!
Why go on saying this is first or that is first?
Any good government will go on doing what’s good for the country and its people! Unobtrusively!!
To hell with what’s first and what’s second!

  18. chengho!, everybody is proud of something. Muyiddin is proud of Malay, that is good. You are proud to be changho, that is good. Even Abd Razak Baginda’s family member and friends are “proud of it” during the trial of Altantuya murder, don’t know what is so proud of?

When a DPM declared he is Malay first and Malaysia Second, he is DPM for Malay not Malaysia. When pride being overly boasted, it became burden of arrogant, Muyiddin and Umno did just that. When human race were categorized into races and the policies are drawn based on racial element. Then, the whole society will be very racial in nature. There will be no nationhood, but racehood. We need a common ground to start off and that common ground is Malaysian.

When 1 Malaysia is not about Malaysian, and Malaysia is not for Malaysian, that is Zimbabwe.

  19. Have we “become a more united multi-racial Malaysian nation” since 53 years ago?//Jeffrey

I think we have. That is why Perkasa, UMNO racists and religious bigots have to work harder to have their voices heard. It is the like the last cry of a dying man. But of course leadership plays a role. How we think as citizens is very much influenced by the indoctrination that is going on. The tragedy is too Malaysians are still ignorant and naïve but I do hope that the number is getting smaller each day. If BN wins big in Hulu Selangor, then I think we are all goners.

  20. MY, the potential premiership heir
    Again proudly declare
He is Malay first and Malaysian second
His subordinate ministers kept silent to beware
Of going against the top pair
    Otherwise they would dare
    Without any hesitant air
    To proudly declare
They are Malaysian first and race second
Alas, the 1M concept is just hot air
An empty slogan used as a snare
To fish for votes here and there
Vote in PR because it will fare
Much better than BN in caring for the nation’s welfare

  21. Chengho is very proud he is the best KOK sucker of Najib.
This person should be transported to Tanjong Rembutan Mental Hospital soon or else…old guys like me…may die sooner…. feeling faarked up by such kind of stupid Malaysians.. giving no hope to future young Malaysians.

  22. Wise guys love to talk talk talk…agree to disagree…like they are politicians…in the present Malaysian scenario…that needs FOR or AGAINST..no more..no less..and no more
    votes excuses…
“votes are secret” kind of logic…right now…when Najib is trying to buy up souls and the country..plus keep fooling young voters and his own race.
We do have a great alternative….right now..never seen before…..until 12th GE….the the numerous provocations…arrests…deaths….with races…and trying to use religion..sacred cows..burning temples….all boils down to a war of words and actions…that could easily led to racial clashes…which UMNO BARU should be very happy …if they materialized.
Yes…Malaysians are united all the time.
It is by divining to rule..that makes UMNO BARU…doing all the stealing and looting with no fear…because they steal and smart enough to throw some to stupid greedy hypocritical Muslims of their kind.
How many more UMNO Muslims and Malaysians are greedy and stupid?
Declare yourselves and be counted..but few have no balls…like talking KOK …with different styles…but in fact are worst than Chengho.
At least we know where Chengho stands…but those smart asses…saying ‘Votes are secret”..are the people..so selfish..that cannot be depend upon to vote for change in government.
    Can you identify those scumbags?
