What is the Wow factor in the Najib Cabinet?
None on the positive side.
If any, there are the negatives, viz:
- Najib’s “backdoor” Cabinet – the first Cabinet in the nation’s 52-year history with the most number of “backdoor” Senators, 11 in all and comprising mostly of candidates rejected by the voters in the political tsunami of last year’s general elections.
- Replacement of one set of “old faces” like Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said but who have entered Parliamen by the front-door by a set of equally “old faces” like Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun and Datuk Dr. Awang Adek Hussin who have to get into Parliament by the backdoor of the Senate as they had been rejected by the voters in last year’s general elections.
- Parti Gerakan becoming “Parti Belakang” with its president having to sneak into Parliament from the backdoor.
It is laughable to see a senior Cabinet Minister yesterday desperately trying to justify and convince the media that the Najib Cabinet is a “lean” one, claiming that there had been a reduction from 32 Ministers to 28, when in fact it was from 31 to 29, as Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had a 31-strong Cabinet when he submitted his resignation to the Yang di Pertuan Agong on 3rd April while Najib is now heading a 29-strong Cabinet!
Najib said that “The era where the government knows best is over” and that “We can only achieve our ambition for Malaysia if the government and people, in a united effort, work together for success and progress”.
Yet the first thing Najib did as Prime Minister was to violate this important principle that “the era where the government knows best is over” by appointing the most number of rejected politicians in last year’s general election into his Cabinet through the backdoor of Parliament, a fundamental defect which cannot be cured by Najib’s claiming that he has formed a People’s Cabinet!
Tsu Koon has denied that he is a “back door minister” – given prominence by Star today, with the headline “’I’m no back door minister’ – Gerakan’s Koh defends appointment”.
My blog has received email of a media report (Sin Chew) in May last year with the headline, “Exclusive Interview With The Gerakan Acting President: No Back Door Approach”, quoting Tsu Koon as giving two reasons for rejecting any offer of Senator and Minister.
Tsu Koon quoted MIC President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu that it was “going through the back door” if he accepted the offer as a Senator after being defeated in the general elections and that it would be “contrary to the true meaning of democratic elections” to become a Minister through a Senate appointment.
As for his ministerial portfolio of “Unity and Performance Management”, can Tsu Koon, who had been a Penang Chief Minister without power for 18 years and who had to buckle down to the demands and pressures from lowly Umno divisional and branch leaders, have the power to monitor the ministerial performance of UMNO warlords in the Najib Cabinet like Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein?
Would his writ even extend to the MCA Ministers?
Tell it to the marines!
If Najib is serious about using the key performance indicators (KPI) to “stress impact and not input, results and not output, and value for money” to monitor the performance of Ministers, this portfolio should be the direct responsibility of the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister and not be entrusted to a fly-weight Senator Minister.
In the first place, is Tsu Koon able to work out and publicise a KPI framework to monitor the success of his other ministerial responsibility, to promote national unity, so that Malaysians can see the three Najib slogans of “1Malaysia. People First. Performance Now” translated into policies, actions and results, particularly in reining in the extremist and irresponsible racialist and religious outbursts by Umno leaders most recently manifested in the Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau by-elections.
Telephone conversation overheard–
umno minister: Hey Koh, ingat lu give me 100/100 for my KPI report!
KTK: No problem tuan, no problem.
Missing noun in last sentence? “…irresponsible [adjective] and [adjective] [?] by Umno …”
Someone remind me why a people would want their government to implement a KPI framework? It’s not like we’re going to take our business elsewhere. Aren’t there already many KPIs for the Malaysian government, like the Transparency figures, the University league tables, the Gini distribution of wealth index?
Something tells me Malaysia needs its own KPIs because it is failing according to everybody else’s.
[rectified. Thanks. – Admin]
Huh? Wot?
Boleh belakang masuk?
Menteri Belakang Masuk?
Oh dear me.
Odd. Isnt it?
Agreed with LKS, the new PM’s administration is really a WOW factor
1. New PM preferred Rejects. WOW.
2. Choosing TMM’s son. WOW
3. Sabah: 4 ministers. WOW
4. Total # ministers and deputies, now and previous (29 + 35 = 64 cf 31 + 40 = 71). WOW.
note: Going to be a costly affair for the tax-payers esp. during economics downturn.
5. Quite a number of ministers and deputies are presidents, deputy presidents, etc in their respective political parties. WOW.
6. PM’s definition of lean adminstration. WOW. Actually it is fat administration even considered obese when compared with many developed countries where there are less than 20 ministries.
7. KPI initiated by the new PM and he to review. WOW.
Can the public view the KPI of each ministry and can an independent group (instead of PM’s Yes man) to audit, validate, giving finding and recommendations as KPI results can be very easily manipulated by each ministries to project high performance and good results.
Correction on item 3
(29 + 40 = 69 vs 31 + 35 = 66). WOW An increase of 3?
Errr….. He has apologised for his “….soak this keris in Chinese blood…” from the past. Unless he PERFORMs repentance by humbly apologising to ALL Malaysians for his racial outbursts, I don’t see how he can lay claim to the slogan “1Malaysia. People First. Perfomance now.”
KPI = kopi thiam index.
Sadly our people are too divided and do not trust each other to prepare themselves to face the global challenges to protect their common interests.
They have done a lot of damage with decades of narrow, divisive and damaging politics.
Get rid of them…..all of them by the next election to give our country a new start!
That is what makes a mockery of the General Elections! These idiots who lost in the General Elections still get to be ministers through the back door way by being appointed Senators! So why bother to have the GE? Either way, they still become ministers!
I think there is already a problem with the so many sons of ex-prime ministers. This is another back-door entry into politics. In the future, I afraid only if you are the sons of ex-pm, then you can be appointed ministers or becoming prime ministers. The culture is gradually taking shape. The next deputy pm could be Hussein Onn’s son, and with time he will become the pm. Then Mahathir’s son will appear as deputy pm, and so on. Royal families exist in UMNO
Didn’t Pak Lah also said he will do the same thing? His Ministers will have to submit a report card to him every six months? What happened? After a few months, its all forgotten, every one went his / her own way. Talk is cheap, memories very short.
So uncle Koh will have a very easy job with really nothing much to do except be a decoration. Will he be sitting in in Cabinet meetings? He will have nothing much to contribute there. Get Senator’s pay and allowances, get Minister’s pay and allowances, drink coffee every day, shake legs, collect report cards and “unite” them. Easy job.
So this people’s total reject should do the honorable thing, say “thanks, but no thanks” and retire to attend to his vegetable garden.
All these rejects in the Cabinet reminds me of the Reject Shop – goods that are rejected by the buyers as not meeting the specifications and quality standards are put back for sale to the consumers at a “reduced and special price” – but with their brand labels snipped off.
So this Reject Cabinet ada “style” but no brand. Never mind abit “senget”. Never mind the lack of quality. Its the “style”. Its what the people want, or do they?
Talking about the WOW factor reminds me of another WAU. About 10 years ago, a bumiputra consulting firm was hired by the government to look into restructuring MAS. They came up with the “Wau” exercise – acronym for widespread asset unbundling. The government decreed that this was the most innovative and best idea since the invention of the toaster.
10 years later, the government realised that unbundling of MAS – separating the ownership of aircraft from operations, etc – was not realistic, and they quietly reversed the policy. Now MAS has full discretion on the purchase of aircraft. They just tell the government that they have purchased aircraft, and the government pays the money.
The consulting firm that made millions from this exercise also had its CEO “stolen” by the government to head up Khazanah. The consulting firm also ended up being acquired at the instructions of the very top by Maybank resulting in windfall gains for the consulting firm’s founders.
The moral of the story is this: WOW now or WOW later, the fat cats are going to the bank.
The very fact that Mongolian recruited rejects into his govt, is to have a free hand to run the country whichever way he wants, with practically no opposition from inside…especially, the new DPM transformed overnight into a “One Batang and No Balls” man.
The others, selected from the political beggar parties will serve as servants ever grateful to the PM…for being rejects of the country.
For the moment, MACC can have a laid back life…only job is to harass the opposition.
Dear Prime Minister “soak-this-kris-in-chinese-blood”.
Hei man. Wot’s soaking man?
THE MAN AND HIS SILLY ‘BACK’ SEASON AGAIN!
Koh Tsu Khoon have no shame nor dignity at all.
He is projecting he is a true Malaysian…..but he is all Chinese….carrying the balls of ..as all those parties in BN supports..divide to rule….race politics.
Koh is playing dirty politics that pleases UMNO BARU most. No decent Malaysians will ever vote for Gerakan anymore.
All those are in ….to prepare themselves for 13th election. If UMNO BARU….do not put all those MCA/Gerakan..thick skins buggers in…how to promote a strong BN format for 13th GE?
UMNO BARU have no shame at all.
Look, the bottomline is management technique nor the personalities available to UMNO is going to change the fortunes of BN. What will change their fortunes is 1) misfortune/weakness of the opposition and 2) luck.
The whole point of what Najib is doing is NOT what he promised but what he can getaway with. Basically what he is betting on is hold on or fight back until things turn his way. Either the opposition break apart or the economy/oil&gas revenue jumps and he can spend like crazy to turn the tide.
Its actually a very tried and true way that have worked in the past. Yes Najib promises mean little but little also means not worst and it may be enough against PR. Its not about being better at something, its about not being worst than the other guy.
I would think that if a minister is appointed via senator, then it has to be the case that the cabinet portfolio could not be handled by any elected MP or the senator possesses superior personality and capability that without his/her appointment, it will a lost to the country.
Just KPI, right? I could already come up with a few:
1) Number of times tear gas is used against the rakyat
2) Number of policemen taking duit kopi daily
3) Number of hours civil servant not performing their duties
4) Number of corruption cases not investigated by the macc
5) External trade volume with Mongolia
KTK’s KPI:
Do not be bound by what you had promised previously.
Kena slapped one cheek, turn the other cheek to be slapped as well.
Beggars have no choice. Be happy with crumbs and keep kow tau. Tok, tok, tok.
If you walk around towns in Malaysia from Kota Bahru, Penang to Tawau, you will see bill boards depicting: “Jaga Kebersihan Bandar Kita”, “Jangan Buang Sampah”, “Cintai lah Bandar Kita” and also colourful pictures/photos of people who are least bothered with our life. You will also see arches and buntings with colourful lights everywhere. Then we must also have heard of campaigns – campaign gotong royong, campaign membaca, campaign car pooling, campaign tak nak, campaign kebersihan, campaign tanam sayor-sayoran, campaign anti dadah, dan lain lain.
In the meantime, you and I know that the whole town is full of garbage, disorderly, clogged drains emitting stench, filthy hawker centres infested with rats, mosquitoes and cockroaches while teenage smoking and drug addiction remain unabated.
Now, relate what I have just described above to “1 Malaysia, people first and performance now” and you will know what I meant.
Over the years, I think Malaysia has become masters in sloganeering quite akin to the communist states. Resources and energy were channelled to doing all the nonsense while the real problems are left unattended to. Trust me, like the KPIs for GLCs before this, most personnel in each ministry will now have to spend valuable time and energy debating and discussing what KPIs to incorporate for their ministry or minister. The KPI processes will probably become more daunting than the actual work of the ministry. Honestly, if we form a ministry without knowing exactly what that ministry is supposed to accomplish, then in all livelihood that ministry is not needed. Trust me again; soon we probably have to debate on what constitute “1 Malaysia” also.
malaysiakini says, MIC mulls pulling out of new cabinet.
so, MIC finally realizes the rewards of sucking up to umno for umpteen years.
i say, if MIC pulls out of barisan and joins pakatan,
they might be more successful than hindraf,
but, i think, a race founded party does not fit into pakatan.

Koh: No senator post if I lose in Batu Kawan
PENANG: Outgoing Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon does not want to be appointed senator if he loses the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat.
“I can no longer speak on behalf of the people if I am no longer representing them,” he told a press conference.
Claiming that anything was possible in politics, Dr Koh said experience had taught him to be psychologically prepared for the worst.
“It’s very difficult to predict anything at this moment and I don’t want to speculate about the election results,” he said.
Dr Koh said he was leaving behind many things for the state after 18 years as chief minister, including the Jelutong Expressway.
“I have also initiated the second bridge as well as introduced k-economy. If I were to stay for another term, I would leave behind a new bridge,” he said.
On criticism from the Opposition, he said they had also condemned his predecessor Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu when he was in office and convinced the people to vote against him.
“Ironically, Tun is getting all the praise now when they compare me to him.”
He said many key projects had been approved, including the monorail system and the widening of Penang bridge.
He admitted to having mixed feelings about his federal move, adding he was grateful to have been given a chance to steer Penang’s development.
What ever it is if BN wants to use back door entrance …well let them have it.PR needs to make sure that they will not use the same foul method as BN when the time comes to helm the federal govt.
By the way…saw saw the rtm news yesterday and it was GERAKAN past president speaking and it goes like this…….” if the government 2nd STIMULUS PACKAGE DID NOT HELP BY year end , then the government will need to come up with ANOTHER STIMULUS package in order to “STIMULATE THE ECONOMY”…….That was what LKY said….gosh and amazingly he was the previous president with such a comment…..He must be brilliant in giving such a constructive suggestion that will eventually be used to help the government afterall.Brilliant…we need more people like himin th BN.Past or present ones.
This was BN share and share formula. As far every body has his/her share no quarrel and who care who you rakyat cukup makan atau tidak.
All the old machine and old news paper are making their way. New is on the paip line Daim is also making his way back to suck more from us!! The Malaysia version of MADoff in the making!! This Diam-diam guy has suck all the money to feed his crony and is on his way back? What a news for the Malaysian.
How genius are you is worthless is one lack integrity and morality! All must learn from MADOFF fiasco
“Backdoor” Cabinet is giving Najib big trouble. Seeing that candidates rejected by voters can hold senators posts, MIC want Najib to create more ministerial posts for them, or else MIC will pull out of the new Cabinet. MIC want the work-minister’s post to be given back to them.
MIC also argued that if Najib could increase the number of ministerial posts for MCA when they failed to woo the Chinese to support BN in the just concluded by-elections, MIC had even better reasons to be awarded more ministerial posts as they had been successful in wooing Indians to return support to BN in the by-elections.
MIC feel they have been marginalized in the Cabinet selection process, unless they can be given more ministerial posts.
Ooop!
“to be awarded” should be “to be rewarded with”
Now we have a “lean cabinet” – full of rejects? The rakyat rejected them but Najib got them back – Koh Tsu Koon, Sharizat, Chew Mei Fun and who else? :D
So what’s happening to those UMNO/BN MPs who got elected in GE-12, not good enough, not to be trusted?
Whatlah rakyat Malaysia, what have you done? Apa dah jadi? Please make sure you reject them at next GE-13. If your Prime Minister don’t even trust them, how could you, eh?
Malaysiakini Chinese version reported on 11.04.2009 that MIC’s sure-win not-to-be-challenged President, Samy Vellu, threaten to withdraw from Barisan National due to MIC’s being given a second grade ministerial post of Minister of Human Resources. Samy Vellu wanted the MIC representative be appointed as the Minister of Works because this post is considered as the first grade ministerial post.
Samy Vellu’s ambiguous complaint really shows us how much corrupted his mentality can be, in view of his faulty logic that Minister of Works is a first grade post (meaty) whereas Minister of Human Resources is a second grade post (bony). Surely, Samy Vellu prefers meat to bone and he wants Minister of Works post because this post will give more meat than the post of Minister of Human Resources!
Does Samy Vellu really realize that the post of Minister of Human Resources is very important in order to assist the Malaysians of Indian origin to find a decent job either in the plantation estate or in the factory? Does Samy Vellu really know that why the estate owners or the factory managers prefer hiring Indonesian workers or Nepali workers to the local Malaysian workers of Indian origin?
Those Malaysian workers of Indian origin were said to be demanding because they usually asked for a basic salary which is a little bit higher than that of the foreign workers. Does Samy Vellu know that the foreign workers are usually given some fringe benefits like free factory busing, free hostel accommodation, free yearly medical check-up, free air ticket but the local Malaysian workers get none of these fringe benefits?
MIC has gotten a Minister of Human Resources for more than a year since the 308 General Election. So far, what has the MIC Minister of Human Resources done in order to make sure that the Malaysian employers will give priority for hiring the local Malaysian workers and for cutting down the dependency on foreign workers? Can Samy Vellu please explain to the people that why should the foreign workers be entitled much better fringe benefits than the common Malaysian workers?
Is MIC really showing its empathy and concern towards the majority Malaysian Indians who live in abject poverty? Is Samy Vellu really taking it seriously when Hindraf has started to complain about the negligence of Indian community by the BN Government since few years’ ago? Does Samy Vellu really think that Hindraf leaders deserve the ISA detention because they courageously voiced out their discontent about the unequal treatment given to the Indian community of Malaysia not only by the local capitalist employers but also by the ruthless BN Government?
Belakang masuk?
Mahu main belakang kah?
Belakang ada bersih kah?
For goodness sake!
Who says there is no Wow factor in Najib’s Cabinet. Take a good look.
Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon Wow, Wow, Wow
Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil- Wow, Wow, Wow
Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun- Wow, Wow, Wow
Datuk Dr. Awang Adek Hussin- Wow, Wow, Wow
Mukhriz Mahathir – Wowwwwwwwwwwww
Bess in the world Cabinet! Wow! Lose also can be Minister Wow!
This was sent to me today.. Wow..! An eye opener..!
Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat had recently exposed about 15 clear fact evidences of Umno’s treason against the Malay Rulers and the Constitutional Monarchy which are as follows:-
1. The founder of Umno Datuk Onn Jaafar was thrown out of the Johor Royal Palace in 1920 and he took refuge at Singapore because of his criticism against the Sultan of Johor on his property and debts by his royal family members;
2. In 1974, Tan Sri Ghazali Jawi, the father of former Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli refused to resign as Mentri Besar of Perak despite of his written agreement with the Sultan of Perak earlier indicating that he would only hold the position for two years. As the result of his broken pledge, the Sultan of Perak was displeased with his rudeness and actions. Then recently Tajol Rosli said Umno never commit any treason. So, what about his father’s action?
3. In 1979, the then Mentri Besar of Pahang Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakar quarrelled with the Sultan of Pahang. As the result of this, pro-Umno medias waged their criticism against the Sultan.
4. In 1983, Umno initiated to reduce the powers of the Yang Dipertuan Agong which regards to rights to declare a state of emergency. In protest of Umno’s move, the Council of Malay Rulers rejected the proposal where Umno in response to the rejection mounted a nationwide criticism against the Malay Rulers via its party controlled media and press.
5. During the Umno general assembly in 1991, the Sultan of Kelantan was widely condemned and blamed by Umno leaders and delegates for the party loss in Kelantan to PAS during the general elections.
6. At the Umno general assembly too in 1991, Umno delegates had openly called for investigation on properties and monies accumulated by the Malay Rulers. The report was widely published in Utusan Malaysia as a headline. Isn’t this treason?
7. Umno leaders and members held a mass demonstration against the Sultan of Kelantan and handed over their memorandum to him on their disagreement with the sultanate. Why didn’t the police fire their tear gas to disperse the demonstration which was without permit and illegal at that time?
8. On 18 January 1993, Umno leaders had actively initiated an amendment to the Federal Constitution to allow Malay Rulers to be charged in Special Court for their offence and any other matters. When the Malay Rulers request the move to be withheld in order to have more time to review it, Umno wage a massive press war against the Malay Rulers with various criticisms and condemnations.
9. In the year 1993 too, massive rallies organized by Umno without permits were held Alor Setar, Bagan Datoh, Seremban, Batu Pahat and Melaka to show their support to the then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad wage their anger and condemnation against the Malay Rulers.
10. Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah once asked which one of these is more dangerous: the constitutional amendments in 1993 or the disrespect on the Sultan of Perak on 6 February 2009. According to Tengku Razaleigh, he did not agree with Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh’s intention to sue the Sultan of Perak in the court but also agreed that Karpal has the right to do under the provision of the Federal Constitution which was amended in 1993.. All the sudden Umno shouted and yelled at Karpal, and organized demonstrations against him in front of his residence. Actually, Umno members should hold demonstrations in front of the Umno headquarters too because it was their party leader who had first went against the royal institution.
11. A Kelantan Umno leader, Datuk Annuar Musa supported the illegal installation of Tengku Ibrahim Inderaputra as a Sultan in an effort to topple Sultan Ismail Petra of Kelantan. Such move by an Umno leader is clearly a disrespect, disgraceful and treason against the royalty.
12. The former Mentri Besar of Perlis Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim openly declared that he had sufficient evidence to show that the present Sultan of Kelantan Tuanku Ismail Petra was not qualified for the throne.
13. Umno information chief, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib called Datuk Seri Mohamad Near Jamaluddin a traitor.. Hasn’t he forgotten that he once absconded with the Sultan of Selangor’s daughter, Puteri Ku Yah? Due to the Sultan’s anger on Tan Sri Muhammad’s disrespect, his Datukship was withdrawn. The fact is this is also a treason.
14. After last year’s general elections, 23 of the 24 Terengganu state assemblymen threatened to boycott the swearing in of Datuk Ahmad Said as the new Mentri Besar. The rival Umno leaders made open statements condemning the Sultan of Terengganu’s alternate choice for the Mentri Besar position and insisted on wanting their Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh as the Mentri Besar. Umno members who supported Datuk Idris held demonstrations in front of the palace and took up banners and placards calling the Sultan “an animal”. Why didn’t the police arrest the Umno leaders and members for insulting the Sultan but only arrest people who demonstrated in front of Istana Kinta in Kuala Kangsar, Perak on 6 February 2009?
15. Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim boycotted the swearing in Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Isa Sabu as the new Mentri Besar of Perlis because he was not reappointed to the said position.
So, it has been clearly shown who were the real traitors and who had committed treason against the Malay Rulers and the Constitutional Monarchy. Umno is the real traitors and they committed treason against the Malay Rulers and our nation as a whole.
gerakan is a joke and MCA is out-of-date.
Wow this’s a WOW indeed. NR’s team consisted of old sour wine which you guys have thrown away and now pick them up by NR and he mixed it with some kind of a not so new rejected wine of his own kind and what do you guys get from it ?.Bitter foul offensive smell llike from a clogged sanitary tank.Should you guys drink it,it will surely chok you gustingly. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ,STOP IT ??? OH MY GOD OH MY GOD,CAN’T BREATHE IT ANY MORE AH HA AH HA?????????********++++++++@@@@@@@@ ——————–? Welcome boliau to NR fanatic land.
This idiot Semi Value is really sore at not being given the previlege of the back door entry. His reasoning is if KTK can be allowed sodomy, why should he be deprived.
Sour grapes of the highest order! If he can’t enjoy the previleges of a minister, why should the others in the MIC enjoy those? They should be kicked out too.
The best way he feels is to pull MIC out of the BN coalition. Would the MIC fellows allow such a thing? They would revolt and kick Samy out by the back door with a vote of no confidence. Then what would happen to his son?
Stupid Samy, think before you irritate the UMNO warlords, especially the old goat Mamakthir who has an axe to grind. Not only your chances of a posthumus Tun would disappear, you might find yourself behind bars for all the baggage that you are carrying.
The bigger headache for Anwar is the niggling and endless problems and scandals infecting his own party’s reps.
PKR has had to battle allegations of incompetent, corrupted, disloyal and scandal-ridden leaders.
The issue of the revealing photos of Selangor state exco Elizabeth Wong threatens the image of PKR and places immense pressure on the fragile Selangor state government.
Wong has offered to resign her exco position and state assembly seat of Bukit Lanjan to safeguard the image of party.
Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has subsequently decided to wait for the completion on the investigations into the distribution and publication of the photos before deciding on her status.
This has added undue pressure on Khalid and Pakatan’s Selangor state government on the back of news that the PKR state assemblyman for Pelabuhan Kelang may quit the party to join Umno.
PKR leaders together with moderate PAS leaders like Dr Lo’ Lo’ and Khalid Samad have backed Wong as the aggrieved party.
However, PAS president Datuk Hadi Awang is known to have demanded that Anwar resolve the issue as soon as possible.
In Penang, the issue of former Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Fairus Khairuddin, who was questioned by the MACC on allegations of power abuse and corruption, has compounded the problems faced by Anwar.
However, swift action in getting Fairus to resign from his post and exco seat has mitigated some of the cynicism directed towards the party.
In Perak, the Behrang and Changkat Jong state assemblymen who quit the party have tarnished the image of the party immensely.
These unfortunate series of events have brewed ill-feeling among PAS grassroots leaders who lay the blame on PKR and to a lesser extent DAP due to the defection of the three state assemblymen to BN and the eventual fall of the Perak state government.
The simmering discontent is threatening to split the Pakatan coalition in the silver state.
Tsu Koon, syabas!
Patutler, orang koyak gambar hang, hang pun dapat berdiam diri. Karang dah jadi menteri. Syabas!
Najib told to get lost from Thailand…for his first Oversea Summit Meeting….bad sign! He is back in Malaysia.
Samy very mad..elected President no Ministerial post.
Loosers got so many…and MIC post have no power..so he said.
Want to pull out from BN.
UMNO BARU…ignored him. Pull out….where is he going?
MIC….Samy…PPP Kyveas…..both dead ducks.
Kyveas had his chance….but so calculative..so selfish…so damn smart…all hates him now.
MIC should be given at least the Home Ministry so that he can send more Indians to Kamunting , Sungai Buloh and Simpany Rengam.
Tak sedar diri!
In any case I bet my last ringgit MIC will NOT withdraw from the Cabinet. beggar can’t be choosers.
Wow, backdoor Senator!
Money and fame derived from such position are good enough to charm every human heart – who doesn’t want money and fame?
Perhaps Koh Tsu Koon should not be criticized so much for bowing to such temptation as he is just human too!
It is funny. Samy wanted the back-door entry as well. There are too many of such kind of experts in BN.
Is this what the people wanted, to pick up the rejected politicians as ministers through the belakang doggie style? BN has no idea what the people wanted. BN simply ignored the majority of people.
At a press conference with the Malaysian press here last night, Najib had said it was impossible to please everybody.
“I choose to satisfy the public at large, the people come first,”
The appointment of KSK as the minister to monitor ministerial KPIs is obvious. Najib knows that NONE of his ministers will be able to stand up to real scrutiny of their KPIs. So he needed to pick someone to be the fall guy to play this wayang and KSK fits that bill. KSK has no bargaining power and will be a yes man to do Najib’s bidding. KSK is not even able to stand up to “pendatang” accuser Ahmad, so it stands to reason he is not likely to get very far with the likes of Nazri, Hishammudin or even Tee Keat if they fail to peform. But he suits Najib’s purpose that as a scapegoat if the KPI charade flops.
Sorry “KSK” should be “KTK”
“I choose to satisfy the public at large, the people come first.”
I think the Malaysian public has enough of rhetorics and have become too wary of them. Gemilang, Cemerlang, and Terbilang, a very poetic and elegant slogan, has proven Lim Kit Siang right, when he said that Badawi had forgotten the fourth one, Tembelang. “I choose to satisfy the public at large” sounds to me more like “I choose to satisfy the pubic at large.”
The appointment of political reject, or individual who are rejected by the people into the cabinet, hence draw salary from the tax payer is simply a slap on the face of the voters. How dare you?
OK let please a game.
Guess what is the meaning of asPM? I will explain it in my article call \People Choice, People First and People Happy?\
http://shiokguy.blogspot.com/2009/04/people-choice-people-first-and-people.html
Shiok Guy
One evening when I flipped open the Friday newspaper and I began scanning through our new Malaysia cabinet. To be honest, I am not a politician, and not belong to any political party, and also do not recognize most of the names in the list, but I felt very angry about it.
1. Most of them are belong to BN and most of them have lost in the previous election. Why some people from small parties in Sarawak are able to be ministers? Why there are no oppositions in the ministers list? This is so unfair.
2. I was surprised that those people that have lost in the previous election are able to be part of the Jabatan Perdana Menteri. This is so unfair to the people.
3. The Minister of Finance is the Prime Minister himself and all of his members does not hold a degree in Finance. There are people major in Economics and Law but what kind of finance skills they have?
4. The guy that did Finance in college went to be the Minister of Defense.
5. The guy that was major in English was selected to be part of the Homeland Security.
6. The guy that holds a Phd. in Traffic Engineering was selected as the deputy minister of Education. He should be under the minister of transport man!
7. All the people in the Higher Education were graduated from UM. Hey, I have no hopes that our higher education will be improved if we kept on maintaining the people from our old system.
8. There are no lawyers selected in the Minister of Housing and Local Government list, no wonder so many stuffs happened underground.
9. I do not think that our plantation technology will ever be improved to the next level if we have guy who runs with a certificate of construction material estimator in there.
10. Hey, you know what? The guy that holds are degree in plantation is under the department of International Trade!
11. And why there is a Doctor selected for the Minister of Tourism? Well, certainly her counterpart that holds an MBA will not help either. LOL.
12. Sad to see that the guy that selected for the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation has a degree in Plantation Economics. I am sure that our poor streamyx connection rate will never be improved.
13. I cannot imagine a group of guys with Economics, MBA, and Law can ever contribute to Youth and Sports, and I hate that minister because he’s fake.
I have hoped that one day we can have a leader similar to Obama. He tells the right thing, he selects the right people. He united both Democrates and Republicants in his cabinet. Why can’t we do the same? I am not a politic major but maybe someone can tell me why we still using people from BN?
Parti Gerakan No.1 and No.2 – Koh Tsu Koon(Penang) and Chang Ko Youn(Perak), were rejected by Malaysian electorates at GE-12, yet both came into the government via the back door – Koh to Federal Govt while Chang joined the illegal MB Zambry in Perak State Govt.
Looks like Najib is not giving due concern and taking lightly the seriousness of the rakyats’ anger and disgust via the ballot box as shown in the recent Bukit Selambau and Bukit Gantang By-Election results. We now have a Malaysian government made up of “rejects”? Is this “W:DW” for Malaysia?
Semi Value very angry he, as MIC President, was not give the backdoor jalan to be a senator and then a minister. His hands itch for the easy money associated with the ministry. Aiyoyo, sayang lah such easy opportunities!
Also, ‘bo been’ lah. MCA and Gerakan Presidents are ministers, except MIC President.
It’s all about himself he cares, others are of no value to him, except their votes. No wonder the Indians of MIC have always remain where they are; it didn’t just happen!
Wat a jokes! Why all the BNclowns so happy in BolehC4land? And suddenly mamakTeh rejoined UMNO! Loser penang Koh so happy wild main doggie style! Wat else, oh i remember the two fellow ex-police ordered to be hang., police send UTK stormed hospital for Kugan test ……. watever. Win a sungai , kalah 2 Bukit, they still said we r the gomen…………….Now sami want to protest…….and yet in our daily news reported ppl get killed , murdered , raped , robbed, kidnaped, slashed half dead , mat rempits…. I felt sad n shame for this gomen. R we ordinary malaysian safe ? Rejects oso can be repick……….hahahahahahahahahahahaha Malaysia f888*ing Boleh!
Koh Tsu Koon has defended his appointment as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, saying that it was not done through the “back door.”
Why open his mouth to defend?
Just shut up and count his blessing and enjoy the big fat cheque and allowances that come with the class-monitor post.
Old age fund more than taken care of. Ciak, ciak, ciak.
Dear Samy Vellu,
Your time is up long time ago. No need to feel disappointed for your failure to get the Works Minister’s post now. You have no shame, is it, wants to main belakang? You have no support whatsoever from the Indian community in the aftermath of the two Bukits by-elections. So stop your pathetic lies about MIC getting the Indian votes in those by-elections, ok? You are a liability in MIC and Barisan, do you know that? Opps, sorry, I have to keep reminding myself again and again that you are donkey, who doesn’t know a sh@t about the meaning SHAME. You are merely a sour grape and jealous of your partners such as Dr. Koh Chicken and the likes in Barisan can masuk belakang, while you can’t.
No need to lead a boycott of Minister and Deputy Minister posts. I suggest you quit your MIC President’s post and lead the team to pull out of Barisan. But anyway, you are still a D.O.N.K.E.Y. to know anything what I’m trying to say.
Another backdoor minister coming to Najib’s cabinet – the one and only Diam Diam Daim. Mahathirism is going to be fully resurrected. God save our country.
zak_hammaad,
You didn’t mention that BN and its component parties are alo ridden ith so many scandals and problems. I guess at least 80% of PR’ corruption cases have been investigated by MACC while only 10 per cent of BN’s cases investigated by MCC. Despite its claim of impartiality, MACC have been slow in dealing with cases involving BN people but terribly efficient when dealing with PR .
The bias views you present will impede the expansion of your analytical mind. I’m sorry. Frankly, I don’t think it’s appropriate to use words such as balls, cock, etc, in the comments by some people. In the comments to TDM’s blog, no such words are found.
Incumbent BN ministers and senators hardly need to contest in the 13th GE as their big-boss is kind enough to open the backdoor for them to join the Cabinet even without being elected as MP’s.
Instead of wasting their time and energy to contest in the next GE, they do well, from now on, to please their big-boss in everything they do.
They should learn the lesson from Khairy J that even if they are elected, they may not be made a minister!
Re Najib’s Cabinet, simple – how can fresh water come from brackish water? Brackish water belongs to the cesspool. So it is with Najib’s Cabinet. That is, whether you like it or not, the plain truth!
Integrity isn’t a slogan. It’s a way of life. It emanates from a pure soul. Pure character. None of us have attained theat perfection. That is why we must have checks and balances. Here we have none. Everybody from Tun M, to Tun Abdullah, to Cjief Justices, to IGPs, to Son-in- Law (KJ), to UMNO Disciplinary Committee, to Ku Li, to the ordiianry man on the LRT and Omnibus says filth, corruption, immorality reigns in Malaysian politics. Yet there is no system of checks and balances. Najib is suspect. Muhyiddin is suspect, KJ is susupect. IGP is suspect. AG is suspect. Judges are suspect. Police is suspect. Now who is in charge?
Only Malayisa can have a One-Man economic council, One-Man judicial council, One-Man Prosecution Council, One-Man Enforcement Council.
The rot is so deep, you can’t and it is even futile to have a surgery. Malaysia simply must replace BN in the next GE. And then begin on a fresh new leaf. Period.
How can Malaysia be called a democratic country when the Cabinet which exercise authority over the people are made up of UNELECTED sycophants, opportunists and careerists?
How come Samy vellu didnt get the pintu belakang entry……?
I guess thats y he is angry and MIC so called wanted 2 backout from the cabinet
DEMOCRACY IS DEAD IN BOLEH. BN can now do whatever it wants by totally ignoring the people
Is this what the people wanted, to pick up the rejected politicians as ministers through the belakang doggie style? BN has no idea what the people wanted. BN simply ignored the majority of people.
My dear Chaamp1,either you have been away from Malaysia for half a century or you are pretty too naive. Since Tunku A.Rahman time right up to the present, Alliance or BN,these politicians have never wished to share their power with anyone except their kind and pack. Why,because sharing power means sharing weallth. As ummno/bn leaders are power hunger ,wealth greedy and crazy, how would you expect them to share all these goodies. Moreover when you share power with your foes, you tend to reveal your own weakness. In umno/bn,one of their many evil weaknesses is corruption through cronism, scandal and hypocrisy. I hope this answer your question.
Seen it all. Shout some slogans initially to get some attention, nothing will happen, creep back to old ways.
Do I see a will to improve life for ALL?
Back to sleep….zzzzzz.
What pendatang?,
first go check who was in the treaty of pangkor in 1874.
Najib “the soak-kris-in-chinese-blood” prime minister punya style is to ignore voters’ wishes altogether. To him its “vote for what?”. Itu dia. Undi pasal apa? Tak guna. No use at all. Trust him. He knows best. Itu semua wayang. Semuanya entertainment saja. Bagi orang putih tengok. Bagi opposition shiok sendiri. Bagi voters shiok sendiri. Bagi umnoputra untung lima tahun sekali. Cetak ini cetak itu. Supply banner, supply kerusi meja. Hire van, kereta, bas dan banyak opportunities for quick gain. Itu dia makna election yang sebenar. Election has no other meaning. Betuul.
See perak. Undi. Undi. Undi. Tengoklah. Assembly man – ai yah beli saja. Macam kat pasar. Pilih mana yang you nak. Lepas itu beli. Mudah. No problem. Money. That is all you need. Beli saja. And see new cabinet. ..
Democracy? Apa itu. Celaka dia, buang saja dalam tong. Buang saja.
chow mee hun’s remark pre-308 while asked by reporter on her opinion on DEB:
AH?? I tot DEB was ended in 1990? isn’t it? We no more have DEB.

Goes to show BN/UMNO is surely going down the gutter. Voted out still got chance to come back. Same people, same old ideas…how to progress as a nation…SIGH!!!
