As someone who has known Ms Elizabeth Wong, former ADUN and Exco member of the Selangor state government, for almost ten years, I am profoundly distressed by the treatment that has been meted out to her by the mainstream and tabloid press over the revelation of photos that have compromised her. There are no words adequate enough to describe my feelings of disgust and anger over how this capable and committed activist-politician has been slandered and abused recently.
The facts surrounding the case are well known by now and one need not dwell upon them here. Suffice to say that one of the brightest, capable and efficient politicians of our land has been discredited via a malicious campaign to tarnish her reputation, that reeks of hypocrisy and conspiracy of the highest order.
What needs to be emphasised in the midst of this media hullabaloo is this: That the private lives of politicians are as sacrosanct as the right of any other citizen, and that politicians deserve the same degree of respect as anyone else. This is what we are fighting for; and this is what the elections of March 2008 were all about: Our earnest wish to see a new kind of politics in Malaysia, a new politics that would reflect and mirror the new Malaysian society that we live in today.
The ascendancy of Ms Wong and a host of other younger politicians who were elected to office last March signalled – in the clearest terms – the desire for change and reform. Malaysians of all creeds, races and gender have demonstrated that we are sick and tired of the old mode of neo-feudal communitarian politics which has hitherto been propped up by nothing more than an assembly of tired and outdated clichés. We yearn for a new Malaysia that is colour-blind, anti-racist, anti-sexist, democratic, tolerant and plural. We yearn for a new generation of professional politicians who can do their job well in the spirit of accountability and transparency. We yearn, in short, for a new political culture altogether.
Ms. Wong’s election to office demonstrated that a significant section of her constituents had faith in her abilities to translate those ideals into reality and political praxis. They voted her into power because they believed that this was a woman who would stand by the rights of all her constituents; who would further a politics of inclusivity and non-communitarianism, and that she would also foreground the needs and concerns of women as well. The proof of this is evident to all who have followed her career that has now been tragically cut short: as an advocate for gender equality, her presence in the state assembly of Selangor has ensured that the sexist culture that was so prevalent in the past ceased to continue. During the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide tragedy she was one of the few politicians who was seen present at the ground-level doing relief work while some other politicians merely procrastinated and pontificated while doing nothing.
The unfortunate turn of events that has led to her resignation has therefore robbed us – the Malaysian public – of one of the few capable elected representatives that we could count on; and the loss is that of the Malaysian public’s as much as it is hers.
Today as Malaysia heads into a recession under the febrile leadership of old politicians who remain in a state of denial, we are in need of a younger generation of elected representatives whose political orientation and political culture are different: Elizabeth did not lead, she represented. And she gave a voice to the voiceless who clamoured for attention on her behalf. Her passing out of political life – which I personally hope will be temporary – has been a blow to our common struggle for a better, newer Malaysia. It is my earnest wish that despite the setbacks she has suffered, Elizabeth Wong will continue in the struggle for a better and newer Malaysia in whatever capacity that she can.
This struggle for a new Malaysia and a new Malaysian politics is our common struggle, the struggle of the new generation of Malaysians today. One of us among our ranks has been attacked and fallen. We owe it to her as a friend and comrade to support her now, and to remain focused on the pressing need to reform the old order of our authoritarian, racist, communitarian past and its attendant institutions.
Nothing much to say except……serve you right Elizabeth……you deserve the punishment that you received
So, cintanegara, you want her to be sulaed like Masyuri in Langkswawi? To see whether her blood is white or red?
Cintanegara and kinzir toyol….hope you guys have doughters…and god would return the favor…
Well looking at cintanegara’s comments here and in a previous posting, it just reminds me why democracy is so dangerous. Imagine, someone like him or her or it has a vote! And of course, it also shows why abortion should not only be legal but encouraged too.
there, we have an extremist Malay called cintanegara, who has no respect for women. Together with some pro-Umno bloggers like Husin Lempoyang, AM Ubaidah, WBHim & others, they are a disgrace to Islam and should be sent to Hell to be burnt alive.
btw, cintanegara, that has to be the dumbest statement you’ve made so far.
Agreed completely with Farish. There is an insiduous campaign to discredit PR politicians. It is a wakeup call to PR to stay alert and to remind their members to be ever watchful.
stand firm El.wong don’t resign the rakyat voted you because you are capable and the rakyat need you.
this is all political motivated so don’t fall on thier setup.
I hope Mr Lim won’t delete my comments here as I am as outrage as any “like-minded” Malaysians would be!!!
First of all, to scumbags like “cintanegara”….if you want to go back to the days of your ancestors using blowpipes to hunt for food….keep on saying and doing what you animals do best, and you will get there fast. This country is already going down the dogs and you won’t even know what hits you when the recession sets in. No one in this country is minding the fort and doing any positive things about the worsening economy and yet they are happily playing with gutter politics of the worst kind!
To Elizabeth…why should you resign! Heh..it’s not your fault and what you do in private is your business and nobody’s else. I sleep naked too and if any one is interested to come photo me, you are most welcome. Only thing mine is a batang!
Well said farish you want 2 sets of standard and 1 for PR with new defination of morality as a leader of Rakyat
you should stand for the by erection..oopp…by election….
Malaysiakini reports : “Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the Selangor government will seek the views of state ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on how it should deal with the controversy surrounding executive councillor Elizabeth Wong.”
Is PKR’s ‘new’ politics that holds justice and human rights as core values which transcend gender, ethnicity and class – and gutter politics – alone NOT sufficient to guide how Selangor government should react to Elizabeth Wong’s offer of resignation?
With all respect to HRH the Sultan, whose wisdom is not doubted, isn’t Khalid Ibrahim’s action a kind of “passing the buck” to the Ruler, when PKR should bear the burden alone on that decision? As constitutional head of religion, would a Ruler have many options on this matter by way of guidance?
Is royal guidance, sought, required mandatorily to be followed/abided?
How does the Selangor situation of seeking royal guidance jive with the situation in Perak in which royal decision (let alone) guidance on MB’s appointment has not be followed by PR?
If (procedurally) constitutional monarch’s guidance will have to be respected, then PR must likewise be prepared that BN would, in connection to Perak State assembly affairs, refer the issue of Mohd Nizar and his PR’s state councillors running a ‘shadow government’ parallel to Zamri’s to HRH Sultan of Perak (again) for guidance, and if the guidance were that Mohd Nizar and his PR’s state councillors running a ‘shadow government’ should immediately desist and disband to end the charade, will PR abide by the royal decision/guidance?
Please note that institution of monarchy, albeit constitutional, is synonymous with upholding tradition.
This is not symmetrical with “our hopes for New Politics” espoused by PKR as stated by Farish Noor.
New Politics surely is not consistent with tradition, is it?
The victim Elizabeth Wong is punished and her predator gets away free – that is new politics in Bolehland??!!
In the beginning Elizabeth said she did nothing wrong and the question of her resigning did not arise when she said that “I will in the meantime continue to carry out my task of serving the people of Selangor faithfully.”
She said very clearly she had done nothing wrong and added “that I am not ashamed of my sexuality as a woman and as a single person. I have broken no law. I stand by the fundamental principle in a democracy that has a right to privacy.”
She also said, “Parti Keadilan Rakyat stands for ‘new’ politics that holds justice and human rights as core values which transcend gender, ethnicity and class. ‘New’ politics also means we rise above gutter politics.”
How come then she now changed her stance so quickly to offer her letter of resignation? The question must be asked : did PR Selangor state government induce her to tender in her resignation?
And to avoid the prospect of not being accused of not walking the talk on “new politics” conveniently pass the buck to HRH the Sultan of Selangor, the constitutional head of Islam, for guidance – when I don’t see the Perak state councillors led by Mohd Nizar turn to the Perak ruler for guidance (instead did not abide with HRH the Sultan’s to step down as MB in favour of Zamri)?
Is there a double standard here?
?
In Bolehland,
When a woman/girl is raped, we blame her for the clothes she wear.
When a woman/girl modesty is outraged when she was illegally spied upon (peeping tom) in her own residence when she is asleep (meaning it was not a concious decision), the opposition leader of Selangor ADUN demand that the victim be punished for her lax in morality.
Malaysia Truly Asia, Truly Boleh!

The arithmetic does not add up. “New Politics” my foot – more like old wine in new bottle.
I thought the older the wine, the better (provided you store it properly so that it does not turn into vinegar).
Give me old wine in new bottle any time instead of new wine in old bottle.
Hang a goat’s head, but sell dog meat…
Yes, it is the two Jeffs who have the ultimate agenda of questioning every decision by PR/PKR which is causing all these problems. One Jeff is a Gerakan plant, while the other is a…well…just a crapshooting lawyer.
If you folks just quiet down and not even bother to reply to the childish and sexist comments of Tempe, Ali Rusty, cinta-sendiri, my erstwhile AP partner Kasim Amat, the storm will simply die down in 30 days. You allow yourselves to be manipulated into a frenzy by people with the obvious agenda of killing off PR, PKR and PAS.
If chastity and morality is an issue, we should look at BN politicians. There are a few well known BN leaders who keep mistresses and are known to be fond of “playing’ around.
Baradan Kuppusamy reported in The MalaysiaInsider Feb 17:’The party debated the issue long and hard on Monday night and early Tuesday and although it is so painful we had to let her go,” said a senior PKR leader who could not be identified because he is not authorised to comment on the issue. “The party comes first, it has to be protected,” the person said. “We felt our political enemies would extensively exploit the images and other materials during the Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau (April 7) by-elections,” the person said. “The party would be badly damaged.” “Najib’s rise coincides with the loss of Perak and the injection of new vigour into Umno and BN and consequently giving the impression that the Pakatan Rakyat tide might have reached its zenith. Some quarters say BN/Umno – given the changing circumstances and other factors – can possibly win Bukit Gantang or even Bukit Selambau but probably not Bukit Lanjan. Therefore, a comfortable victory in Bukit Lanjan would boost the Pakatan Rakyat at a time when it seems to be in retreat after losing Perak and facing allegations of defections of its representatives in Kedah and Selangor.
In that sense, letting Wong go, saving the image of PKR and winning back Bukit Lanjan, are shrewd political calculations. She had enemies within and outside, a colleague said.’
Baradan Kuppusamy summarised, “The need to uphold a higher moral ground in comparison with the Barisan Nasional (BN) and shrewd political calculations are behind the resignation of Elizabeth Wong.”
I ask how can you be on a higher moral ground in comparison with the Barisan Nasional (BN) when if you said Elizabeth had done nothing wrong and that she was a victim of gutter politics, you reward/give in to the calculations of gutter politicians by creating (party-wise) a situation that she has to resign??? Whatever happen to “new politics”? Bottom line you’re still talking about “letting Wong go, saving the image of PKR to prevent BN exploiting the images and other materials during the Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau (April 7) by-elections and winning back Bukit Lanjan, shrewd political calculations” – everything but the principle of right or wrong, and indirectly in the process giving gutter politicians the motivation to continue this kind of black mail – because such blackmail always yields the desired result of forcing the resignation of the victim! How does that put the party, with all these calculations, on a higher moral plane, I wish to know???
“One Jeff is a Gerakan plant, while the other is a…well…just a crapshooting lawyer” so says the crapfather….
Today is the first time i log in….
First, cintanegara, if the case happen to urself or any of ur family member, what is your re-action. lie on the road and wait for people present you a great reward? rape? take photo or video and re-loaded to the you-tube? that is good idea, rite? i dont know where you come from? UMNO? MCA? or underworld?
Second, my opinion, Under this situation, as woman or as a human-being, we are not different each other even as DAP lah, PKR lah, MCA lah. we should stand up and find what is the root cause! who is the person who sent the photo to “The Sun”? why he do so? most likely CASH! but who give him the “CASH”? then where the “CASH” coming from? our RAKYAT? our “Banker”? i m not a smart guy, but this is a very common root cause to look for? but our POLICEMAN is able to do so? or they waiting the fax from big boss then continue their job?
If that guy is really love Elizabeth, i dont think he will spend more than 1 yr to wooing her. rite? but under cash issue…. anything can heppen, like Perak. SHE work with DAP more than 20 Yrs… but with CASH issue, she can do anything, even betray hundred of thousand of M’sian in Perak. that is an another sad story in M’sia.
This is the same crapshooting lawyer who quoted Badawi’s “recent” comments, only to find out later that it was from Badawi’s speech a year earlier. The same person who pontificates about the risks of Islamisation, the untrustworthiness of PAS and PKR. The same person who makes U-turns depending on which senior person supports or contradicts this crapshooter’s position.
The same person who writes “I wasn’t presumptious when I say that I write eloquently” and then try to explain that what he meant was that he did not make any presumption – when the truth of a show-off like him can only mean “it wasn’t a presumption, it was a well-known fact”.
Crapfather (as in father of all craps) says “One Jeff is a Gerakan plant” which is an insinuation that DAP is naive enough to bring in a ‘Gerakan plant’ and let him have the Jelutong seat…If you want to give random crap allegations, have the decency to do so in his blog than spew them here in a space in which counter party does not likely visit and hence has no opportunity to reply.
This is most disturbing and I abhor such irresponsible action by those moronic asshats! How low can they go in their political game? – peeping into bedrooms, under the sarongs and into people’s private lives is gross invasion of a person’s privacy!
“Peeping” is a perversion classed in same category as “paedophilia” which is similar to sodomy and stealing.
Having said that, I am also saddened and most disappointed by the quality of some PKR politicians who can’t even be discrete with their sex lives?
Ten months in power, see the amount of problems and embarrassment they have caused in Pakatan Rakyat Government. Look at the two Perak PKR
toadies that had contributed much to the downfall of PR State Government! Perakians are still very sore for the betrayal and the anger has not subsided yet. It is felt everywhere all over the State of Perak.
Those two PKR State Assemblymen were hardly embarrassed and unashamed when ‘caught and exposed’ they were offered china prostitutes for entertainment, even came out with statements like -“dia bagi, terima la”!
Now we have Eli Wong ’sleeping in partial nudity and also in intimate positions’ (quote her statement), and alleged ex-boyfriend in her room took her pix, without her concent? Then why is she refrained from naming that bast*rd? Let the public skin him!
Elizabeth Wong doesn’t look like a woman who would pose nude for the public to see. She must be the victim of some conspiracy. And we must thank the pro-government local media for its journalistic ethics, never mind that they are already non-professional in their approach to journalism. After all, Malaysian newspapers are not newspapers, they are political instruments of the ruling party.
Crapfather remarks at 17: 42.27 (4 minutes ago) are of course not deserving of being dignified a response: for the simple reason that I am not an issue in this thread and neither is his view of me an issue. The “attack the messenger ploy” ie by side-tracking with attack on messenger’s character or tendencies is of course a hackneyed strategy of person(s) bereft or bankrupt of other more credible means to challenge a particular message. It is getting a bit boring, and I thought you would enliven my evening by something new. :)
“The One who Writes Eloquently” has only one agenda – to assist in the split-up of PR. He highlights inter-party differences on huddud, Islamisation, anti-hopping legislation, and now the Elizabeth Wong saga. He wants the DAP to quit PR. He points out his perception of double standards. He wants Anwar to quit. He even pointed out that RPK’s quoted remarks in the STAR (calling for the resignations of Kit, Hadi and Anwar) was more likely to be accurate than inaccurate.
With friends like this crapshooter with his foot long postings, who needs enemies ?
Does the One Who Writes Eloquently not know who Baradan Kuppusamy work for ? Does he not know that Baradan twists and turns and recently misquoted Kit without offering an apology ?
So if Baradan writes an article quoting a senior PKR source as asking for Wong to resign, something must be wrong with PKR ? Especially now that Anwar has asked Wong to reconsider her “quit” decision ?
The One who Writes Eloquently should be relegated to the back row seat.
Yesterday we got to hear from the police that they have the person who exposed the photos but they are no revealing his idendity as yet but today we heard he is hiding some where in Indonesia. Don’t we all smell fish here? There is a POWERFUL group behind this ‘worse than animal’ act for sure.
Uncle Lim, Pakatan must be on RED alert from all kinds of despicaple attacks from BN. They are not going down tamely without a fight, by hook or by crook. Pakatan reps must be fully aware of the “against all odds” struggle for a true transparent, Just, clean & democratic Malaysia against a ruthless BN regime that has not waver a bit from its arrogant & big bully mentality since 308.
Pakatan Reps especially those in the Pakatan control states cannot affort to drift into complacency. There are dangerous BN snippers, baiters, traps & smearers etc etc out there eager to gun you down, one by one. Understand that you are not here to build a personal political career & definitely not for the amount in your pay cheques & the perks (like Camry Hee), you are to remain focused & steadfast on the noble course that you all have started when you have chosen to be on the opposition side to serve your constituents & to keep a tight check on/ expose all BN Federal Government corrupt endevours. We the common rakyat will cheer you on to the finish line.
However I am also amused that Crapfather’s first substantial contribution to the subject in this thread blog under discussion is (from out of the blues) about me! Never mind about the irrelevance. Must be on your mind most times ha ha :)
cintanegara, I think you might have morals no better than BN.
Yes, in BN , corruption is rampant. Isn’t corruption more shameful than sleeping naked.
Within the confine of one’s room, how one sleep is none of your bloody business.
Antway, wasting my breath talking to a moron like you.
Coming to Elizabeth, she should not resign. Afterall it is no crime to be naked.
Like toyo, cintanegara obviously has a loose tongue and sparely spaced grey cells.
Remember, cells can and do die after a while. So better keep production up. You dont want to lose too many of them cells. And one more thing. Hope your tongue does not just fall off suddenly. Its really kinda of loose aint it?
What is there for Anwar to ask Wong to reconsider her “quit” decision when, after delivering the quit notice the ball is in the Selangor state govt’s court, and he could just direct the Selangor State govt/MB to reject her offer to quit, there being then no need for Khalid to seek royal guidance???
I agree with Jeffrey, why the “double standard”, why now get the Sultan of Selangor involved in politics of the State? Why take a different stand when it comes to Perak? :D
What naked photos? Those were photos of a fully clothed woman sleeping. If you want to see go here:
http://sotong-itu.blogspot.com/2009/02/elizabeth-wong-scandal-picture.html
WARNING! NO NUDITY! Don’t expect to get excited over them. It’s a photo of a fully clothed woman sleeping and some scum (Khir Toyo?) shooting up her skirt. It’s grainy, blurry and dark and nothing much can be seen.
Liz Wong may have been told there will be more coming but I strongly believe there is nothing more. Why would anyone circulate such useless unexciting photos to destroy somebody if they have anything better?
This is just a BN plot to try to get Liz Wong to quit. Shame on those who practice such gutter politics.
Though Baradan may have misquoted Kit on one occasion it is misleading to say that by that incident one could conclude that he amplifies disproportionately all other writings/comments regarding his sources on what happened in PKR party’s deliberations on Elizabeth Wong’s issue on Monday night and early Tuesday. What he reported is consistent instead with the twists and turns of Elizabeth Wong’s position, first “I will in the meantime continue to carry out my task of serving the people of Selangor faithfully” and shortly after that “in the interests of the party, I have decided to offer my resignation as exco and state rep”, the key operative words being “in the interests of the party” that is likely urged upon her.
and recently
And don’t forget the gutter Umno owned newspaper, Malay Mail which saw it fit to blow a non-issue out of proportion. It’s all a sordid political conspiracy.
Nothing much to say. It just like \rape\ victim has been punished for her \wrong doing\. The focus should be put on the man, \rapist\ who invaded privacy of someone private life.
If one day, any politician get tape having sex at home with their spouse, would he/she be regarded as crime.
Eli should not and no need to resign, the rakyat are mature enough to judge.
“This is just a BN plot to try to get Liz Wong to quit. Shame on those who practice such gutter politics.” – Kenny Gan
Agreed : so why should PKR gratify such gutter politics by rewarding and giving success to that plot by getting Elizabeth out on the excuse of party interests?
Supposing I am wrong – that it wasn’t for party interests that she be out but that she should stay – on ground of principle. Then even if she tendered graciously her resignation in good faith to show that she did not put her self interest above party’s, it would behoove the party and the Selangor state govt to do right by rejecting her quit offer instead of seeking royal guidance from Sultan of Selangor whilst not abiding with guidance or directive of Perak sultan! What is the logic here??
By Farish A. Noor
“As someone who has known Ms Elizabeth Wong, former ADUN and Exco member of the Selangor state government, for almost ten years, I am profoundly distressed by the treatment that has been meted out to her by the mainstream and tabloid press over the revelation of photos that have compromised her.”
This is previously why she should be the patriot that she claims to be. Resign and spare PR the unnecessary publicity it is getting. It will continue to be a distraction. Anywhere else it would have blown over by now. But in prudish Malaysia where people employ double standards – one for your friends and one for others.
Ask the Cambridge logician. He’s reading this blog, and he will return to tell us the logic.
Please read this article posted at http://malaysiakini.com/news/98470 as well as mahathir recent posting “Tingkat Empat”. The writter is clearly outline the direction of those hardcore and desperate guys that walk the corridor of power. They don’t mind to resort ot all kind of dirty tactics that have never been found in Malaysia for as long as they cling to power and serve their own interest. Liz Wong is a smart, dedicated and capable woman. It’s truly a waste without her.
Since the outcome of March 8th last year, it’s been a very trying period for Pakatan Rakyat politicians. Anwar got charged with sodomy. Karpal received a death threat letter with a live bullet. Theresa got detained under ISA over false accusations and her home got hit by Molotov cocktails. And now this with Elizabeth Wong.
It’s difficult to believe, especially after PR got ousted from the Perak state government, that all these incidents are purely coincident. Obviously, it’s a sinister, insidious plot hatched by those you-know-who’s, who suddenly realise that they are still losing the people’s support, after being defeated in two earlier post 8-March-’08 by-elections.
Hopefully, the people will see through all this shadow-play that is being put up by BN and return those 3 seats back to PR in the coming 3 by-elections.
Looks like all the moral experts are passing judgement on an innocent lady whose dignity was being attacked by a moron no better than a society scumbag out for pecuniary benefits paid by Toyo.
Now, these experts are saying that being naked in the privacy of your house is not moral , then all must not removed your clothes or even open your zip tp pee. If caught with you showing your private parts during peeing, then this is immoral.
What crap reasoning.
“Hopefully, the people will see through all this shadow-play that is being put up by BN and return those 3 seats back to PR in the coming 3 by-elections”
We are not dumb. We know she is being used and abuse by BN dogs. Which is why she should stop all the abuse and resign. It does not mean PR will have to lose a seat – stupid.
//MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said he was puzzled by Wong’s offer to step down as she had said she was not guilty and that she had been framed.
“If she is innocent and had been framed, why should she resign?…..//
====================================================
The enemy is quick to capitalize on Elizabeth Wong’s resignation.
Elizabeth Wong should think carefully whether she should resign or keep the job, as her resignation could mean that she tacitly admit she is guilty of sexual immorality.
Some people are using this blog as an “ego booster” to run down each other. Take no notice of such personalities and they might disappear. ;)
That said it is most unfortunate that we are faced with the reality of
“One who lives by the sword should be prepared to die by the sword.”
Elizabeth does not deserve this but the is the reality of politics not just in Malaysia but elsewhere in the world. The decision to resign or not should be entirely hers alone. The way I see it if she stays on she will still enjoy her constituents’ support for the good work she has done.
“Ask the Cambridge logician. He’s reading this blog, and he will return to tell us the logic.”
After you have chased him out from commenting in this blog by your attacks/name calling and describing his decision to leave as “good riddence” esp for those who could not take hard knocks of life???? :)
Yes it’s strange to find the position of Elizabeth shifting from she has done nothing wrong and that she will continue serving the people of Selangor faithfully to ‘in the interests of the party’.Smells a bit fishy when Khalid has to seek the Sultan of Selangor for guidance which is clearly his decision to make.Is he showing the mettle of a leader buckling under pressure the same way he showed when he appointed acting chairman of PKNS.Is ‘new’ politics buckling under ‘gutter politics’ the reason in sacrificing Elizabeth to preserve the image of PKR? All these are questions that come to mind when Elizabeth who according to Anwar is an important figure in PKR with a good track record has to reconsider her initial stand in the interest of the party!
So sad, some Malaysian politicians are still practising “gutter politics “. Elizabeth, you have my support. Your ex dont deserve you. Khir Toyo, you are a scum of the earth. It is so sad that some politicians will stopped at nothing just for some political mileage. I am quite sure we all know who they are. Please let us all remember this episode when the next GE comes. We must make them pay. Stand tall Liz. Have a good rest. There are many Malaysians behind you. Continue to serve. There are many other ways to do that.

…Khalid…Is he showing the mettle of a leader buckling under pressure the same way he showed when he appointed acting chairman of PKNS.
You have got a point here. We have to be firm and fair in order to lead… Leaders must not forget that they have the people’s mandate and therefore have no fear to execute their decisions without fear from and external sources when they know deep down that they are acting in good faith.
godfather and jeffs … so sad to see you guys’ infighting. better you redirect attention to more important issues.
BN is also playing it’s trump card in diverting PR’s attention in the upcoming election and issues on Perak’s constitution crisis.
It’s really disheartening to see UMNO succumbing to such dirty tactics.
Going on an extended holiday is a good strategy.
I really do not think PR can fight against BN dirty machinery at this time. With the witchhunting in progress, NTR’s elite UTK is working around the clock to crack the wrongdoings of PR ADUNs and MPs.
Stand on the ground. Don’t quit Eli. at this time, it’s bad move PKR.
So many Malaysian are behind you and BN does not even dare to condemn you openly. Except KHinzIR and SHA.
sorry extended leave … not holiday for Eli
Its a BIG MISTAKE for MB Selangor having to retreat to seeking Royal guidance on this matter. The sultan has entrusted you with the management of his state and if you can’t even solve a staff problem (victimized or not), how can you be trusted to run a state??? Khalid, you better wake up & take charge, all your other staff are watching you.
While police is investigating the culprit who send in the photo. We do not know who is the culprit is. But victim or otherwise Eli Wong was there. Put aside all the argument she is morally wrong or other wise, she should resign or other wise. Off course people like toyo will wish her to resign long before. MB and all other supporters off course want her to stay. So each will argue along what they want her to.
Let not discuss who she is right or she is wrong or simply what happen can be acceptable or other wise to our culture. Let puts aside all these argument.
Now let look at what people perception on what has happened to Eli Wong here.
1 She was voted in as WR by huge majority.
2 She has carried out her work diligently and MB has gave her good marks and Farish and otehr also has written in her favors
3 Her supporters off course give her full supports.
4 many on the ground also believed her a effective WR
with these all her supporter and so PR supporter will be on her side. Her resignation should be accepted tactically to turn PR’s defensive to become offensive against BN .
Why? Majority of the people perceived this happen because of dirty tactic by her opponent and people can only perceived as from the other side of the party. This make PR supported turn already angry with BN to hate BN now. The hate BN until their bone so to say in Chinese.
So her resignation will be strong boost to PR.
People will not perceived PR’s WR are inferior or morally corrupt. They will only believe this was the tactic use by BN rightly or not to oust PR by all means , just like the coup BN launch against Perak.
Her resignation will not be good for BN. Her resignation will further enhanced people believe she was a victim and she is of high integrity off which I personally believe in her, judging from her report cards so far since 308 GE.
Anwar will accept her resignation and turn all offensive against BN in the next two or three by election. This tactic has been repeated many many times during the Three Kingdom warring period where many good and brave warriors were purposely sacrifice for tactical purpose( off course in this case I do not believe she was frame in purpose just to boost PR up) to fire up the team works and trick the enemy into believing other wise.
so I will take Anwar will accept her resignation and turn full offensive against BN very soon.
Let us look at the real picture of the unfortunate revelation of ‘private’ and personal images released to the public. Don’t be sidetracked by BN shills.
It is impossible to prove a conspiracy unless one of the players confess to it. Then again the others could deny, so we will not be hearded to another misdirection because there is no proof. There cannot be proof, yet I will tell what I believe happened. There was a blackmail and Elizabeth Wong did not accede and instead bravely pre-emptied the strangle hold on her.
The one who took the pictures must be the same one who made an offer – hop to the other side or the pics would be exhibited. So why did he do that to her? Even the simple should be suspicious that he was on a mission. There must be a promise of payment. As I said, this is guess work for nobody can prove a conspiracy. But it sure smell like a dead rat.
The political scene is loaded with bribes for cross over. In her case if she succumbed to the blackmailer, she would be, for her entire life a slave to the enforcer. The stranglehold don’t end there and then. So I believe she acted wisely.
Continuing on the supposed dastardly play, he could have drugged her, to get her into a compromising position. He took advantage of her. What is the word for the oppose of gentleman? BN genre?
Now as to this villian, we must bear in mind that he would sell even his own mother if there is monetary reward. Same as the under achiever assemble woman who brought down the state government, we must constantly be aware that such type would also sell the nation. The potential is there.
Can anyone body believe that there was no monetory gain in the episode? This reflect badly on the major player, we know who he is.
This is a desperate attempt to retain power in the next GE. BN has to tarnish and discredit PR. There is no other way to stall the great fall of the BN.
Indeed, if her vacant seat is won again, she snatched victory from destruction. Then she is a winner.
Allan, whilst it’s actually true that with Eli resigning it will boost PR’s support, eventually the actual benefactor is UMNO.
Offering to quit and gaging rakyat’s support goes down well with Malaysian. It makes PR leaders capable of answering to supporters for the upcoming elections.
I had said a few days ago, something is up in NTR’s sleeve and he is drawing it out now. Thinking these are trump cards, it will eventually backfire.
cinta = love
negara = country
Such great words abused and defiled by one who does not even know what respect is, let alone how to.
It is such lowly and deplorable characters like you whose utterances and writings stink and from which foulness emanates.
It is so unthinkable that among us here, God’s children, there could be such evil hearts and minds.
You cannot go on hiding behind such a lofty name “cintanegara”. You simply do not fit in, let alone representing it.
I shall reserve the worst for you, unless you realise your folly and repent. And that is for your very own good. Period.
All of you remember what had happen in Saudi Arabia that a rapist was not been charged but the victim was sentence to jail .Later she was release when the whole world put preesure on to the Arabian authority.
Elizabert is now a victim the rascal who run away should be punished . He could have paid to do the job and money has blind folded his conscience,
Lets all give Elizabeth Wong encouragement on her blog not to resign
http://elizabethwong.wordpress.com/2009/02/17/press-release-17-feb-2009/
what scandal ??
the only real scandal are people vilifying the private life of a human being, making something out of nothing, capitalizing it for personal benefit.
and some members of the public seem so gullible to eat out of the hands of a certain creep who is stirring up the issue.
how can acts of private relationships, which is really nothing, be made into something heinous ?? it is senseless how it all turned out, and society must take a little blame for their unthinking ways have helped shaped this unfortunate incident.
Hi Toyol,
Chua soi lek ….Actor
Eli ……. a victim and innocent
That is the difference.
Let analyze what will happen if Eli’s resignation was not accepted and she also willing to stay put?
In the short term, ie during the next two by election this will be play out by BN and people will easily trick into believing in PR having tainted leaders. Why as our culture go any thing relate to sex nudity is morally wrong and people are not easy to accept is whether how well you argue the case. This will be bad for PR and she become liability to PR.
Well her resignation so to say, can also term it as changing of role, as she should benched now and no appearance until some right she can always come back actively.
Her offer to resign has shown her sincerity and her priority was on the party not like unlike Hee resign from DAP because of personal gain.
By offer her resignation people will look upon her as role model.
Why? How many Malaysian politician will resign by taking responsibility? So her offer itself was refreshing to people. Her supporters will never let her go the more she want to go, not her supporters will also be attracted and become her supporter so the support will go to PR.
Let look at CSL’s resignation, his case much worst then Eli’s case, his supporters still very much behind him and later voted him in as second man in MCA? Why? Many Chinese like MCA or hate MCA but many believe in CSL is a capable and outspoken leader. He is good in politic but unfortunate he is also good on the other game which people can not accept. Many Chinese feel a sense of lost when he resign as Minister as he is one of the good minister, as i say love MCA or hate MCA, the fact is CSL has done his bit during his term as HM.
Same rule apply here, Eli was effective, hard working WR and people love her. Resignation will likewise attract a lot more sympathy. More importantly people will also believe she is victim of political dirty trick.
Tactically, resigning is good for her and also good for PR. As I say coming back in later stage is not an issue, it all depend which direction the wind is blowing. she can come back at the right time
cintanegara=cintaduit=cintacorruption, therefore cintabn
cintanegara;
I read your posting from a foreign country, I found it most repugnant and disgraceful. It simply reflects on your shallow mentality and lack of moral teachings. If I have to use you as a yardstick for the malay race, I will probably think you blokes are still living in the caves.
Are you a practicing muslim?…..
Let tell you this story. After Perak fall to BN. Next day when I saw my friend, he look like he has just lost her mother. He look so sad and so energyless. I ask him what happen? He reply, “PERAK LAH? at first i do not understand why he meant but only after he start to condemn BN on Perak’s fall.
So you see, he is not from Perak, but what happen to Perak has make him so sad. You can imagine when next GE come his sadness will turn to what?
People not only angry with BN now, many are just hate BN NOW?
Many just want an alternative. Well PR is struggling but eventually it will make it as people angry has become hate now.
What’s wrong with the photos, no big deal lah. Malaysia people is heading backward if it is a big deal. Not a issue at all
First off, we all know that the BN is behind this whole “episode”. The PDRM should have caught the low-life culprit who released the pictures.
Secondly, to all the commentators here, please don’t waste your time rebuking Cintanegara! We all know he’s one of the Racists Retards that support UMNO & the BN!
statistics/chances are nothing is impossible. BN may win all or nothing, same goes with PR.
don’t be over confident and complacent by thinking PR has got the upperhand and sympathy votes. it works but not always.
If these are BN’s seats, I would say hell yeah … go ahead and resign, period, by-election try your best to win the seat. Now it’s not, it’s PR’s seats.
Gambling the seat are what that is desired by BN, it’s not wise to let go here and there. Every seat lost is counted as 2 for the total seats. Please bear in mind that it’s only 11 months since 12 GE. BN still have plenty of games to play and topple PR in Kedah and Selangor.
What we are seeing may only be the tip of the iceberg for these dirty tactics, so …. be carefull
I am so sorry to read that Elizabeth Wong has tendered resignation letter resigning from the post of Executive Councillor and the post of the State Assembly Representative. I don’t believe that Miss Wong chose to tender resignation because of her being pressurized by the top party leadership to do so. Anwar did ask her to reconsider her resignation. If Anwar really asked her to resign, she would have said so. This indicates that there is still hope for New Politics in PKR!
However, I am more inclined to think that Miss Wong’s decision on resigning was made because she felt hurt by the betrayal of her loved ones! Miss Wong is now a 39 years-old lady. It is absolutely logical and fully legitimate for her to have the desire of wanting a boyfriend in order for her to get married someday in the future if she is a sexually normal and capable person just like many other matured men and women.
Frankly speaking, it is not too easy for a Malaysian Chinese matured adult to find the ideal soulmate nowadays, especially when people’s concept about the importance of family tie and marriage priority has drastically changed for the past 10 years when the nation has been struggling in the economic hardship after 1997-1998 currency crisis. The 2008 Global Financial Crisis turned the economic situation worse. It is sad to know that many prospective new couples have to postpone their wedding due to the loss of stable job and household income in midst of massive exercises of workers’ retrenchment by the employers.
If in the past Miss Wong had been putting too much hope in her ex boyfriend, then the ex boyfriend’s suspected betrayal by disseminating a private photo without her prior consent certainly hurt!
To Miss Wong, I wish to encourage her to take thing easy. When we are to live in a big trial which is full of pains and suffering, it will not be the end of the world. If we are willing to surrender ourselves to God and ask God for his merciful deliverance of us the sinful creatures, God will most likely be willing to allow us to continue drawing much strength from Him in order for us to weather the storm in the wonderful grace of God.
When somebody has wronged us, perhaps the best reaction we should take is to forgive him for “he does not know what he is doing” (to borrow the biblical verse). Be ready to stand up much stronger in adversary! Do always remember that when the whole world may wrong us, God will never wrong us! God loves us and He will never forsake us!
God will still have much grace to be dispensed to Miss Wong even if she no longer holds an official post in politics from now on! There are still many other ways for her to serve, whether to serve God or to serve the people!
Elizabeth Wong has certainly set the benchmark for principles by resigning over some flimsy photos taken without her knowledge. Is Toyo willing to resign if he is photographed nude in his bathroom? Or does this longkang politician take his shower fully clothed?
I don’t really under stand this Anwar Ibrahim and Khalid?
If Elizabeth declares that “I had done nothing wrong” and “I have broken no law” WHY WHY WHY MUST SHE RESIGN?????????????
Please come clean!!!!!!
And why is Khalid passing the buck to Sultan Selangor??????????
Beware of PAS. That my only advice to DAP.
I admire Hillary Clinton’s strong faith in Bill when he was implicated with Lewinsky. Is there a problem in Malaysia?
The Star online reported: Ali Rustam as saying :-
“Being photographed in the nude is something Malaysians are unable to accept, in particular when it involves a state exco and assemblyman”
Can we set up a snoop squad and photograph all BN’s politician nude?
It will make it acceptable at least in the view of a senior UMNO leader.
BN just want another chance to increase their probability of winning. However, if they falter, BN will fall the next GE
Ha ha this is an interesting turn of events. The more BN tries to destroy PR (using underhanded tactics) the worst it gets for them. I think any level headed person would realize that Elizabeth Wong is a victim.
If someone takes nude pictures of you while you were sleeping, does that mean you have committed a crime? Of course not. Yet many of these UMNO monkeys are jumping around celebrating as if they have won another victory against PR. These monkeys don’t even dare hold fresh elections in Perak. Yet they talk loudly and arrogantly as if they are the best in the country.
Let people always remember and be aware of the kind of dirty underhanded tactics that these BN fellars use to win. Remember as well that the CSL case was also (most likely) perpetrated by his political enemies within MCA. These people in BN have got little to no morals at all, yet they jump around screaming at minute moral indecencies of others. What a bunch of hypocrites.
A politician should be judged by his or her achievements and not those stupid things.M’sian politics is becoming more and more childish.i’m ashamed. If some ppl wants to make M’sian politics look like a show, that guy surely did successfully. The only thing is,he,she or them are the clowns.
While I pity the fate that has befallen Elizabeth Wong the ADUN of Bukit teLANJANang opssss.. Bukit Lanjan, I think it is totally inappropriate for Anwar to put the blame on BN. It is irrespective who brought this matter to light. What is most important to note is what she did and the jury is out throughout Malaysia on whether it is morally right or wrong. Anwar and PR is obviously on damage control mode and trying to shift the blame to BN, when in fact they should be looking at themselves!
Whatever it is, Elizabeth Wong as a person or anyone else for the matter should not have been made to go through what she’s going through. Nevertheless, Elizabeth should accept that as a people’s rep, she is expected to behave in a manner appropriate of an assemblywoman. Also as an ADUN, she has to accept that she is under the microscope of the people.
///And to avoid the prospect of not being accused of not walking the talk on “new politics” conveniently pass the buck to HRH the Sultan of Selangor, the constitutional head of Islam, for guidance – when I don’t see the Perak state councillors led by Mohd Nizar turn to the Perak ruler for guidance (instead did not abide with HRH the Sultan’s to step down as MB in favour of Zamri)?
Is there a double standard here?///— Jeffrey
Under the Perak constitution, the Sultan can sack executive councillor but not the MB. Is there the same provision for Selangor? Khalid might be seeing the Sultan on this possibility. Perak MB wanted the Sultan to dissolve the LA; that was his duty. How do you see double standards?
What two consenting adults do sexually behind close doors is their business and theirs alone as long no third party get hurt in the process.
Elizabeth may be an ADUN but she has every right to her private life.
That it it has been so nauseatingly violated by none other than perhaps her own partner is very unfortunate.
The UMNOputras are the very last to preach to us about morality – they have sullied the moral values of our land for years now and their actions in Perak are immoral to the core!
“She is a single person. How can she allow a man into her room when they are not married? What’s the status of the relationship?” said Mohamad Khir Toyo, the National Front ex-chief minister of Selangor. – BBC
This Toyo fellow must be high on novocaine or his intellect is suspect. As far as I know, he’s the only one looking and demand for the poor girl’s blood when his colleagues in BN are throwing their support for Liz. Toyol, your time will come.

May I suggest “schadenfreude toyol”, then ?
There is fraternal love between them anyway.
With the UMNO general assembly / party elections around the corner, it’s hard not to believe who is trying to gain further political mileage out of all these setbacks which happened to PR.
K.Toyo did put on a good show by holding a demo against Karpal in Penang and a gathering in Selangor to demonstrate his loyalty to the Sultan. But when he was earlier challenged to a public debate by Ronnie Liu over his (Toyo’s) allegations of abuse by the PR Selangor state govt, K.Toyo simply gave it a ‘brush-off’. Let’s also not forget that his ‘disinformation’ with the help of Utusan Malaysia was what got Theresa Kok detained under ISA. And now he’s trying to project his ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude over Elizabeth Wong’s unfortunate situation.
imranj78:
What nonsense are you talking about ?

Are ADUNs not “people” ? Have you seen any pictures that suggest that she behaved inappropriately ? Is taking off your clothes to take a bath inappropriate ?
Was the behaviour of your skirt-chasing Chief Justice appropriate ? Bodoh betul, this Mahathirite.
It’ll be big business putting miniature cameras in hotel rooms. We can then post pictures or videos of UMNOputras playing with themselves.
sheriff singh Says: National Front ex-chief minister of Selangor. – BBC
Interesting that the BBC should refer to BN as the National Front. In the UK, there is a very minor but infamous political party called the National Front – they’re a white-supremacist party. They’re widely regarded as Nazi thugs (NF is a popular tattoo for skinheads). A lot of their membership has bled away to the BNP – British National Party – whose constitution commits it to the repatriation of non-white immigrants. The BNP is regarded as a slightly less awful version of the National Front. I see in previous BBC articles, they’ve referred to BN as ‘Barisan Nasional (National Front)’. They must have decided ‘National Front’ on its own wouldn’t be unfairly confused with its UK counterpart.
e.wong could escape if she choose not to admit the picture ‘might be taken by her ex’. she could simply say ‘i suspect those pictures were taken by someone else or spycam when i was asleep’ . there is nothing wrong to sleep naked i guess!
the people voted for her because they see in her a hard working politician, they were not voting for a religious leader.
the minimum of morality expected of a politician is to be honest and not tainted by monetary scandals.
other than that, we don’t expect a politician to live the asexual life of a monk or nun.
“…………she is expected to behave in a manner appropriate of an assemblywoman.”. imranj78.
Absolute crap and coming from this guy it is also not surprising too! Prone to making assertions which has no foundation for what is behaving in a manner not appropriate of an assemblywoman that Elizabeth is guilty of.
“…………she is expected to behave in a manner appropriate of an assemblywoman.” (imranj78)
does “manner appropriate of an assemblywoman” means to live an asexual life ??
It is hypocritical of society to expect politicians to live the life of a clergy when the majority of society themselves do not live the life of a clergy.
the british play: “no sex please, we are british”, highlight such hypocrisy.

Hello, stop pretending to sound “sympathetic” like the rest of the BN hypocrites. Go and tell your shameless Khir Toyol who doesn’t need to be under the microscope of people because his sins and dirty deeds are so obvious that they don’t need it. Have people wondered how fast Khir Toyol came out to comment on the issue? As if he already know it beforehand?
“Was the behaviour of your skirt-chasing Chief Justice appropriate ? Bodoh betul, this Mahathirite.”

The Malaysian voters now have the Challenge of the Three Peaks on their hands – Bukit Gantang, Bukit Selambau and Bukit Lanjan – to show their will through the ballot box.
It is hope that the voters will send a clear message those who cheat and pillage the country for their own selfish ends that ‘ini tak boleh’..
Taking nude photographs of woman politician has become a norm.Even their past activities with sexual connotation will be studied.Beware lady politician we Malaysian men are sick.It is up to you to take care if you want to reach your heights.Wong can come back because she has the backing of her party and her supporters.
This is in response only to the three points raised by Loh in his earlier posting at 22:48.33 –
(1) “How do you see double standards?” – Jong puts it well at 18:33.04 – “why now get the Sultan of Selangor involved in politics of the State? Why take a different stand when it comes to Perak?”
(2) “(a) Under the Perak constitution, the Sultan can sack executive councillor but not the MB. Is there the same provision for Selangor? (b)…Khalid might be seeing the Sultan on this possibility…”
On (a), I’m not sure if Selangor state constitution has parallel provisions as Perak state constitution. On (b), I can’t speculate on possibilities but even if Selangor state constitution were to have parallel provisions as Perak state constitution (for the sultan to sack an executive councillor), there is thus far no indication, suggestion or report anywhere that Selangor Sultan has earlier evinced any such intention (for Khalid to go and seek guidance).
(3) “Perak MB wanted the Sultan to dissolve the LA; that was his duty”.
Yes this is true but I wasn’t comparing (a) Khalid’s seeking royal guidance on Elizabeth controversy with (b) Perak MB wanting to see Perak Sultan to dissolve the Perak Legislative Assembly.
I was comparing instead (a) Khalid’s seeking royal guidance on the state government matter of how to deal with Elizabeth controversy with that of (b) Mohd Nizar’s refusal to abide with Perak Sultan’s decision to appoint Zamri as legitimate MB on assumption that both Khalid and Nizar represent the common PR’s position and not just their respective party, whether PKR or PAS position. Here (a) and (b) approaches are inconsistent with each other.
Cinta Negara? hahah are you sure you cinta negara? … for me you are Kanser Negara! shame on you!!

rob with such abandon!
Speaking generally, it is our collective hypocrisy that politicians or holders of public office are expected to maintain image of “squeaky clean” not only terms of private morality but also being free from controversies (even though the real situation is quite the opposite).
This argument about private morality/behaviour – it is an ideal that we keep separate the issue of a public figure’s private life/morality from the issue of his capability/integrity to discharge public duties. This separation is however easier advocated than accepted from many ordinary people’s point of view. For many, to separate emotions from thinking is also not easy.
Much has been argued about how nude pictures have been obtained and what they show – whether the person is in some lewd act considered pornographic or just sleeping innocently in nude and how – ie the circumstances under which – the nude pictures and images were obtained in the first place and whether they suggest moral culpability.
I suspect there is yet another powerful unstated element more than what is publicly stated for rationalisation purposes.
Public nakedness (as thisb term is restrictively defined to mean being “seen by public”) whether by wanton streaking/flaunting or having one’s naked pictures circulated (without one’s knowing or consenting) is social taboo.
It is our concept of nudity, and our collective association of shame and embarrassment about it when exposed publicly. For so long as there is shame and embarrassment about our nudity – and worse still some thing associated with sex – being exposed publicly – never mind whether we ourselves are at fault or not in bringing about this embarrassing exposure – it is felt (but not expressed out openly) that it is incompatible with “dignity” of high public office and therefore continuing with it is untenable. If this is true, then all arguments whether the victim of public exposure is morally blameless or contributory to his/her predicament become futile and is in reality unconnected to the real reason (social taboo against public nudity) why social pressure is applied on the person to vacate his/her public position. I don’t think this is right attitude but we can’t change the world by just arguments of what is right or wrong…..If this the situation, then, in todays world of sophisticated technology to spy on and circulate another’s nudity or private sex act, no politician/public figure is kept harmless from such gross invasion of privacy detrimental to their political career, and politics takes a gutter complexion.
Of course John Lennon and Yoko ono would take nakedness as symbolising truth, humility and humanity by calling for peace and appearing naked on one of their album covers but for the masses, nakedness (except in one’s own privacy/solitariness not publicly exposed) symbolise public shame and embarrassment (regardless of how this came about)!
Even in the privacy of one’s home we would take a bath with door closed when there are other family members around (except perhaps spouse used to it); and even if a girl raped emerged from the bush with clothes tattered or without clothes, we would cover her up (if we had some cloth) to protect her modesty before bundling her off to the police station or hospital as the case may be.
Modesty includes propriety in dress, and to be seen nude by public is an embarrassment/shame (unless one is in special circumstances of a nude beach where all are expected nude or in Japanese/Korean Spa!)
Anything embarrassing/shameful is on a standalone basis incompatible with the dignified, and by extention the dignity of high office.
It will take a very very strong mitigating circumstance to overcome this social taboo and stricture on dress propriety.
In one sentence:
“There is nothing wrong with you Elizabeth Wong.”
So continue to serve the people. The media hype is just mere puffing by some half baked umnoputras and goons. And speaking of politicking the media hype by umno will only make voters hate them even more.
Why does “shame” have to go with “embarrassment” ? If someone steals your private pictures taken (say) 20 years ago when you were a lot younger and posts these on the internet, why should there be shame ? If someone hides a camera in the bathroom, and posts pictures of you showering, why should there be shame ?
Give the public some credit. We know when to feel shame and when to feel embarrassed. Furthermore, there is no such thing as “dress propriety” in private.
Shame and embarrassment is when someone gets caught on video explaining how he was going to fix the judiciary and then denies that it was him in the video. Shame and embarrassment is when a senior minister promises to reveal “all” about the Port Klang bailout and then remains silent on the issue. Shame and embarrassment is when someone gets caught with cash in his suitcase in a foreign country, or some lofty official gets caught with cash in his drawer.
There is no shame in sleeping in your birthday suit.
In Japan…whole family bathe naked….no problem
For decades…Toyo..viewing naked women in sexy magazines…no problem.
One chooses to cover up from top to bottom.OK…that’s their way of life..but do not force others to be like them.
In Europe…you can sit at the beach and view so many topless women…and if you stare at them..you are a jarkun. It’s normal.
So many world figures females…photographed in the nude without the knowing that…..view all all forgotten….no one die…no one commit suicide or resign.
All are born naked…and nakedness is the purest of one’s self…clinging to no materialistic things in life.
Doing that in privacy…sleeping totally naked in one’s own bedroom….none of others business.
But if one take advantage and snap photos of her nudity..to sell…..to revenge…to pull at one….that pe5rson must be caught and put to jail.

Such incidents are bound to happen as we are all humans; but I would like to see this as test case to prove the ex-MB of selangor is still dreaming. Let’s have the by-election and see if Toyol can carry the day!
Everybody makes mistake and deserve a second chance.
Her leaders should be fully supportive of her….there is no need to resign.
Eli,
Be strong, don’t resign. Don’t give in to your enemy. Once you resign, you will embolden your enemy to use the same tactic on other innocent politicians.
Don’t give your enemy the chance to say ‘You see, she resigns because she knows she is guilty.’
Its not over yet. We will be seeing more underhanded tactics from UMNO as this is the only way they know. What can you expect form a bankrupt government? The longer they are in power, the deeper Malaysia will slide into oblivion.
MSM report nothing but scandals against PKR. What steps are the govt taking to combat the economic downturn? Everyday we read about UMNO trying to wrestle power and nothing else.
Just look at Eli’s track record compared to Toyo. Need i say more?
I would not jump to the conclusions that it was politically motivated at the moment. Let the investigation be done.
I felt that PR should tell the public all it knows. Don’t let the public stay under the guessing game.
As a public figure or politician, it is like the celebrities. The freedom and rights are all robbed by the media. The politicians should be extra extra careful. I just afraid that more information will surface and the truth may be distorted by the photos and videos.
Is Keadilan harboring bugs here and there, by looking at how Saiful treated Anwar and now this case. It is a worry. BN could be installing spies all over the PR network.
After i read the news, i go through all the detail and work done for Elizabeth for past 10 mths when she become Selangor’s YB, honestly, she done a GOOD JOB on past 10 mths! Y she needs to resign?? nothing worng for her get along with a guy that she love to, no matter he is Malay or Indian, cause that is love! but when love is interface with MONEY, then that guy made a choice, betray his love……. all b’cos of our M’sia 50 yrs history, politik in M’sia is dirty. want to hit people, use CASH! too sad…. that is the trick for BN….. that is a common trick play by them…. Mongolia, Perak issue, i m sure those 2 frogs in Perak will free after the court judjement….. let’s see wht is our M’sia court’s judgement……. : (
In conclusion, after my discussion with my GF last nite. Elizabeth, PLS DONT GIVE UP! We support u!!! more people in M’sia may support u!
The phenomenon that requires an understanding is why there are so many people on both sides of the political divide (BN or PR) who would express sympathy for elizabeth’s predicament, think she has done nothing wrong personally, condemn the distributor of the photos and yet think it is proper for her to resign her political/official position.
The report on front page of The Star 18th Feb is telling : It says (I quote) “Elizabeth Wong, whose indecent pictures are being distributed in the Internet and via SMS has tendered her resignation….”
The operative words are “indecent” pictures. They are pictures of nudity. People associate nudity or the state of undress as indecent. That is why when knocking on the foor of a lady’s bedroom one asks, “are you “decent” so that I could come in?”
Surely, a picture of nudity is not regarded as “decent”. To many people “nakedness” – and more so private consensual sex – = indecency = embarrassment especially when exposed to the public – no matter that the victim is 100% blameless in facilitating this exposure.
For example being nude in one’s own home : it is one’s right; there is nothing immoral or wrong or unlawful but that does not make it “decent” or more decent being done at home. The fact is one has the prerogative to being “indecent” in sense of being in a state of undress in privacy of one’s home but not allowed by law to have such “indecency” imposed unto public by streaking naked in public. Following that logic, anyone representing constituency (as a politician) cannot hold that position tenably when indecency of his/her nakedness has been exposed to public causing embarrassment. The problem with this is that it does not take into account or care whether the persons whose nakedness (which is = indecency) is exposed is blameworthy or otherwise an entirely innocent victim! It is a case not whether one’s indecent state of undress has happened that counts but the fact that one is “caught and exposed to public” causing embarrassment for one self & collective public.
Columnist P.GUNASEGARAM wrote a piece on “Sex, Privacy and Newspapers” on N25 of The Star in which he drew parallel between Elizabeth’s case and that of “a Malaysian beauty queen in the 80s who had nude pictures of her taken by her boyfriend” and released to the press without her consent. “The beauty queen had to step down from her position and the net result of that entire sad, sorry episode was that the boyfriend had his revenge. He was never brought to account for his actions”.
It is almost as if any representative of public, whether a politician for a constitutency or a beauty queen for the nation, is expected to represent all that is good and best about us and not our foibles, mistakes, nakedness/indecency/private consensual sex that brings any form of shame or embarrassment, in short he/she must represent too our collective hypocrisy about being human. Here blameworthy conduct seems irrelevant : what matters is the fact of public exposure and its incidenmtal embarrassment.
I submit that this is not the right or fair way of looking at things but it is. It opens the way for gutter politics.
As I said earlier we have this hang up about our own and others nudity. We don’t accept its naturalness. We have to cover up or else we feel we have become “indecent”. We feel uncomfortable in other words with being undressed except imediate lovers/spouses having the privilege to know about this private aspect – the word know denoting normal knowledge or carnal knowledge. Anything else is embarrassment/shame. It is a feeling, a conditioning, and not a subject to be intellectualised whether logically it ought or ought not to be the case……
in any case has anyone actually seen these photos?
what EXACTLY is so shameful about it apart from
nudity?
Let’s say Doulah has been photoed sleeping in the nude by a member of the opposite sex who is not married to him. Should he resign or not?
People who go to sleep in sarong beware!!! do you wear underwear below your sarong??? dont play play with lots of people who wanted to take photo below the sarong while you asleep!!!
anyway lets leave this nonsense about nude pictures
aside. its not important. whats important
is those two loathesome malay “independent”
perak assemblyman. so they have gone missing.
what is the legal position on this. can someone
go to the sultan and say look BN doesn’t have the
majority becasue these two shady characters
have gone into hiding and can hardly be effective in
representing their constituents?

America has been always pointing fingers at the Islamic terrorist group in the middle east. When Oklahoma bombing of the federal building occurred in 1995, of course everyone in America was pointing fingers at the Islamic groups. America prejudged and prejudged wrongly. The culprits were not the Arabs but the domestic white Americans.
What happened if the person who took photos of Elizabeth Wong has nothing to do with BN, but merely because her relationship with this particular man that brought to this disaster. And yet the public accused the BN for planting this ugly tactics. PR will be in bad shape for making use of cheap publicity. BN will, in return, gain sympathy from the public and BN politicians can cry as much as they want. It will be a disaster for PR.
Thus I urge the politicians from PR not to make any prejudgement. Ask Elizabeth to tell all what she knows first.
Before becoming a politician, let’s take off the pants and let the media take your naked photos. Then you will be safe throughout the term as MP or YB.
k1980,
Yes and no .
Yes, because those who set the highest moral standard which is higher than God’s standard will not allow sleeping naked!!!
I wonder why God dont let the baby borned with clothes on!!! or better still, to change the genetic of human to have something to cover the baby even before being borned!!!
No, because he is Doulah!!! Got it!!!
Resignation letter is not recognised any more nowadays!!! so the best is to take a picture of the naked body and if the assemblyman refused to resign on his or her own accord after sending the presigned resignation letter, it is to send in the naked picture to all the press and all problem solved!!! Another good idea for BN!!!
Dear YB Elizabeth Wong
The anguish you are going through in your personal life cannot be fully comprehended by anyone other than yourself. Our words can only be the strength and support needed during this turmoil for you to remain steadfast in your principles and goals. The community needs your vision and leadership after years of abusiveness by the Barisan Nasional government.
What had happened to you is shameful, not to you, but to the perpetrators and the schemers behind the whole issue. What is being talked about is personal and the issue should remain personal. However, in the political scenario, it is considered as weapon, especially amongst “small brain – big talk” BN politicians, such as Syed Hamid and Khir Toyo. They might even misspell the word “morality” and “leadership”. For sure they know not the meaning of these two words. Having served before at the Selangor State’s Education Arm ‘Industri Pendidikan Negeri Selangor Sdn. Bhd.’ as their Director of Corporate Services I can say definitely that there is no issue in your situation. What happened in private remains private. You are not to be faulted.
The ultimate interpretation that majority of simple folks talk about this issue is that it shows that you’re only human. Brave on and please DO NOT RESIGN. That is the peoples’ choice. Our support will always be with you and your family.
“Small brain – Big talk” Politicians
Let me firstly congratulate Khir Toyo and Syed Hamid Albar for proving to the public once again that “small brain – big talk” BN politicians are still alive and kicking up the UMNO party ladder.
The “photo” issue (not a scandal) concerning YB Elizabeth Wong is not a political issue but a personal matter that had been insidiously exploited by politicians via TV3, Utusan and NST for political mileage. What is being shown and printed by these media clearly shows that they have become the Barisan Nasional or rather UMNO’s “bitch”. (I know this article may not be published but readers must know how Malaysians are angry and frustrated with the BN and its propaganda tactics)
What has happened to Elizabeth Wong can happen to anyone. It can even happen to your mother, sister, wife, girlfriend, daughter, niece, etc. Doesn’t Syed Hamid, Khir Toyo and other of the same generic have one or more of the above? Are they so special that they have not had sex? Are their children conceived out of some magical box? Please use your brains once in while before you talk. Every time they (and some UMNO politicians) talk it is further damaging Barisan’s chances in the next General Election. Even to some the chances of BN in the upcoming by-elections are hopeless. They are digging their own graves.
What had happened to her is shameful, not to her, but to the perpetrators and the schemers behind the whole issue. What is being talked about is personal and the issue should remain personal. However, in the political scenario, it is considered as weapon, especially amongst “small brain – big talk” BN politicians, such as Syed Hamid and Khir Toyo. They might even misspell the word “morality” and “leadership”. For sure they know not of the meaning of these two words. Even if you can’t say supportive words due to the UMNO election and party-lines than refrain from making and judging ones personal life. She did not upload the photos for any financial gain. What happened was against her own will and not consented. Her privacy had been invaded and people are making judgments’ about this. Shame on you.
Today, we live in world where same sex relations are being openly practiced. Even in Malaysia, from the top level VVIPs to the man in the streets they do either practice same-sex relationship or multiple partners’ sexual escapades. There are ministers, ex-ministers and politicians who are polygamist. Elizabeth Wong’s sexual needs is her own, and personal to her. Malaysians from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed and political affiliation should band together as decent humans for once and call for the relevant authorities to take severe punitive action on the perpetrators and schemers of this issue. And, to the politicians using this to work up their votes for the UMNO election, please behave. It can happen to your own family.
As far as the majority of Malaysians are concerned, this is entirely a personal issue which she should deal within the legal system. As for her constituents and the people of Selangor state, she is doing a excellent job. Her private and public life should be separated.
YB Elizabeth Wong should not resign, for the sake of the people and the mandate they have given her. You actions are not offensive, rather you have been offended.

The answer is whether the newspapers published the photo and news exposed these is BN friendly or not BN friendly.
If it is BN friendly then it involved politicaly.
Immoral, corrupt and decadent politicians are so prevalent in the UMNO controlled Barisan Neraka that morality does won’t ring a bell to these louts. When they are morally bankrupt for ideas to win over the rakyat they don’t even dig deep into their resources to come up with winning formulae
They are so seeped in corruption, murder, sex, adultry, sodomy, khalwat and whatever vices they are good at that they keep using the same as devices to attack and discredit the Opposition.
The shameless Indonesian immigrant Toyo gives credit to El Wong for resigning her posts. What about the MM idiot who became a minister by the back door even though he was caught with millions in Australia? What about the same MM who ran away with a princess of the Selangor royalty to solomnize his lust? Isn’t there local qualified Islamic religious authorities to conduct a wedding in Malaysia?
What about the musang from Malacca who raped an underaged girl and got away saying he was not aware that she was below the age of consent? For his sexual contribution to UMNO he is rewarded as the head honcho of a GLC.
What about Najis and his romps and known escapades in PD? He is known for his weakness of women that he might even mount anything in women’s clothing.
What about the immoral accumulation of wealth while in office as the MB and receiving gifts worth more than a hundred thousand ringgit? Does this botox face Toyo understand that such a big sum could have fed and clothed hundreds of poor Malay families for at least a month?
This unrepentant idiot who is standing for elections to become the UMNO Youth president doesn’t even have the welfare of the Malays at heart, let alone the welfare of all in Malaysia.
If this Indon immigrant had the decency and the moral standing he would have resigned after losing the Selangor state govenment to PR.
If anybody should resign it should be the botox Toyo. Resign if you are man enough or do the next best thing: Just Drop Dead. It would pave way for another bye-election.
Take a good look at yourself Botox Toyo before you open your stinking mouth to pontificate to others who are thousand times better than you.
YB Kit,
The unwarranted dissemination of Elizabeth Wong’s indecent photo seems to be no issue to most reasonable men-on-the-street in Malaysia. However, this incident has led to another issue which requires much more focus and trivial insight by the Politicians, that is the moral issue.
It seems that the multi-culture and multi-religion backgrounds of various groups of Malaysian people have brought up the diversities in the moral standards. If moral standards are some meassurement yardsticks which will be used to measure what is morally unacceptable and what is morally acceptable in our everyday life practices, then it is critical for the component parties of Pakatan Rakyat to sit down together in order to find the common ground of moral standards in a plural society.
If the component parties of PR does not set a bottom line of basic moral values for all the members of PR to adopt and follow, then it is likely to lead to the possible dispute in moral issues once in a while when a disputable incident has happened. For instance, some conservative Moslems in Malaysia can be very demanding in the clothing decency of all adult female citizens in Malaysia but some liberal non-Moslem citizens may insist on their rights to freedom of dresscode or fashion style. The moral issues are some critical thing which requires much reconciliation among DAP, PKR and PAS. The PR leaders should at least try to reconcile among themselves by starting from adoption of a common guideline of official dresscode for all PR members to follow.
If effort is not being taken in order to enhance the membership cohesiveness and common goal congruence of PR’s component parties, it will not be surprised that sooner or later PR will eventually be driven to the edge of breakup and disintegration in the midst of Najib’s aggresive sabotage, whether by hook or by crook! Please don’t underestimate Najib for he is a man who believes in the motto of “the ends justify the means”!
Talking about moral standard, do we consider gambling and drinking (lot of drinking until drunk) acceptable? I think most educated Chinese would not accept this. However, the government allows Chinese to become bad people. WHY? How many 4D do we have every week? The government wants to kill the Chinese in order to extract the tax from us?
I WANT PAS TO RULE, AND NO MORE BN. PAS is an excellent political party that promises us to get rid of these social illnesses.
Nake picture…. Where ? Why can’t Liz sue them for millions ! and why isn’t police doing nothing ?
Liz must not quit… Anwar will lose his popularity
“I WANT PAS TO RULE, AND NO MORE BN. PAS is an excellent political party that promises us to get rid of these social illnesses.” (pulau_sibu)
Pulau_sibu will have the full rights to express his aspiration of wanting PAS to rule if he is a Moslem. However, the core issue will still be that “how PAS is going to reconcile Hudud with the DAP’s Secular Ideology?” in order to accomplish the final aim of power sharing among DAP, PKR and PAS.
PR component parties have to sit together in order to make themselve clear on the issue of moral standards first before they are really able to continue fighting for their political cause as intimate comrades for the overall betterment of all Malaysians.

In her press release, she mentioned that she has offered to resign to protect the party. These pictures were aimed not only to discredit her but the party as well.
The thing that fascinates me about this episode is the premium that the press seem to place on nudity and sexuality over corruption and interfering with the judiciary system. Two wrongs do not make a right but there are some things are more wrong than others in my honest opinion. I wish the press would report corruption and tampering with the judiciary system with the same sort of vigor that they have shown in the CSL and EW cases.

track record ! track record !
YB Eli has a fine track record of serving the people,
it is the only thing that matters,
now that is taken away, and the people lost a fine Representative.
it’s a case of “if it ain’t broken, fix it.”
As human being, nothing worng that we sleep without clothes, cause not in public area, that is her house, her room!!! wht’s wrong with that??? in addition, those photo was taken when she was slept, she was not aware the photos were taken by that unresponsible BF! Elizabeth didnt do anything wrong!! so when take bath, must wear and take bath with water at the same time in the bath room? logic? think careful. man!
in addition, wht is the reason Elizabeth’s bf needs to do so? who paid him cash? Y police dont check to his bank account, see where the money come from? banker? which back? account? which account? who? who register this account? 3rd party? who gave him the cash..
in conclusion who is the final planner, wht is final gain in this case? personal? goverment? or?
Police may do their OWN duty, not only take the photo to Police Station or share with others??? please be professional. help M’sian, help people, help our future…
if Police still remain the case like Anwar, Perak…. then M’sia really no hope….
What is bad about Hudud? You are afraid the fingers been chopped off? Only if you try to misbehave. There is no problem with ordinary good citizens.
YB Lim, I hope the Pakatan leaders will carefully consider before deciding on what to do.
Amongst the electorates are many women, I am one of them. While we are aware that it is the ‘good works’ of Bijan’s party, by playing into their hands may spell trouble for pakatan.
Even the Gerakan and MCA wanita chiefs have made their stand that Elizabeth shld not resign. Take note of that, YB Lim. Ignorign it may mean that, at the next ceramah, their talks will be that pakatan have not respect for women and their rights to privacy.
Jesus did not cast a stone at Mary Magdelene, though she was guilty. In the context of our modern times, though I personally do not condone pre-marital sex, what Elizabeth did was not wrong. Her right to privacy was being denied, and the revelation is haram. I hope the Pas leaders can see that and throw their support behind elizabeth, instead of applauding her resignation as an act of ‘high integrity’.
In the case of elizabeth, considering our present times of need, (eg., the corporates and interested parties who stand to gain thru raping our hills), to deny the nation of an efficient, effective, passionate and honest legislator, would in fact be an act of atrocity against the rakyat who voted Pakatan into power.
MCA’s Chua adviced Elizabth resigned her post….. that is totally different, he did something which is wrong! betray his family, his wife, his children…. his action in the room is totally illegal under moral and ethics……
accordint to Elizabeth, she is betray by her BF, i m believe, she is love her bf also during the time. she is suffer by someone, she is nothing wrong. y she need to resigned? we should support her instaed of thrown the responsbile to her burden… be rational a bit. Our MCA’s Chua. Please clarify your statement.
Note: YOU ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT COMPARE TO OUR ELIZABETH. her behave is strong and praised by us. she is our hope and angel, she our poor people. but you, act as high class of human-being.
You resigned during the time, cause you are guilty. ok? men!
Pulau Sibu,
That Khi(nzi)r Koyak may had a khinzir brain, khinzir brain cannot differentiate this Eli case and that Chua sl case.
Hey, why police no going around confiscate all such photo, like chua sl case, (police went around hunting for such tapes, and gave serious warning against anyone having one such tape), this time police diam diam saja??
“What is bad about Hudud?” (pulau_sibu)
There may be nothing bad and nothing wrong about Hudud. It is not the punishment methods of Hudud that really matter so much to the non-Moslem Malaysians since the capital punishment and canning which Malaysia currently practises can be equally cruel in the eyes of some soft-hearted people.
When we talk about Hudud, it is “how you are going to convince the majority Malaysian people and the foreign investors to happily accept it” that does matter much to us. A democracy by way of election is the vote-counting game. The basic issue about Hudud will finally be reduced to “how PR is going to improve its popularity and win the majority votes in the next General Election by making the proposal for the implementation of Hudud in Malaysia?” and we don’t need extensive logical reasoning here in order for us to reject Hudud from the very first beginning! Hudud is just simply too unpopular among the non-Moslem people of Malaysia.
ELI’S NUDE!!
If she has resigned from PKR, then it no longer concerns me. If she does not, unwilling to, changes her mind, then I would like to know if there are any more such photographs. I’m not interested in what those photos show but only for the purpose of knowing if she could be blackmailed later on. These series of photos may be the tip of the iceberg.
She could always contribute to the national freedom for justice for all, liberty and all that bull.
oooo[s national struggle for justice for all, liberty etc as an ordinary member of PKR.
When I said that “Hudud is just simply too unpopular among the non-Moslem people of Malaysia”, I don’t mean that Hudud is bad.
What I mean is that “by looking backward to the darker side of the past history in relation to what has happened in Iran in the implementation of Hudud, majority non-Moslem people of Malaysia simply do not find any encouragement for them to have enthusiasm in the adoption of Hudud as the enforceable law of Malaysia.”
I think we have fallen into the trap of MCA as well as UMNO. MCA used Hudud to scare and frighten the Chinese and non-muslims, and now the Chinese are exactly against Hudud. For whatever religions, fanatics are not wanted, either for Christianity or Jewish or… Besides that we would be able to live in harmony. I just feel that we need to tighten the laws a bit for the non-muslims, especially gambling, drugs, drinking,… are getting serious nowadays.
The problem with HUDUD is, the HUDUD promote threat, hate and violence
instead of
Teach, Care and Love.
Money can buy anything in this country, be it voters, elected MP, town councils, EC, ministers, editors/reporters, correct-correct lawyers/judges, police, NGOs, cybertroopers, traitors …. Malaysia Boleh!
Things going to get worst even before the soon-and-soon becoming the next PM. What do you expect since the system allows controversial figure tainted with corruptions and murder allegations to head the office without being elected by the rakyat, only ummo consists probably 10-15% of the population determines faith of the country, Toyo continue to create havoc in the country? :(
It appears to me that, the general feeling of every modern progressive thinking person thinks Elizabeth shld stay on.
Now’s the tough part…. Shld pakatan let her go becuz of Pas stand on morality, this may put people off Pakatan. Sorry to imply pas is the deciding factor, but honestly, I don think it wld be an issue for dap or pkr to retain elizabeth.
I do not know enough about hudud to speak ill of it, but if PAS perceives Elizabeth to not hve the level of integrity that is acceptible to them, it wld be very soon that BN will remind us that PAS = EXTREMISM. Try explain it to the electorates of bukt lanjan that PAS is not extremist, if elizabeth has to go becus of them.
All the good that has been accoplished in the last 10 months will be flushed down the toilet bowl, if pakatan leaders don make the right move now.
The next time the man with the money bags come calling on the pakatan MPs or ADUNs to defect, it wld be much easier. If the offer of money and power does not work, just open up the Malay Mail or the Sun, and show them what can happen the money offer is declined.
I am just think… if I am a pakatan MP, or Sgor ADUN, and I have some practised indiscretion like, erm… pre-marital sex, I will be under a lot of pressure. Give in and collect the $$$ NOW, or stand my ground, and be exposed, and then my Pakatan bosses will remove me….
Come on, Pakatan, take care of your staff… arent they your best resource???
There are more critical issues facing our country……if our politicians ( BN & PR ) are concerned about this minor issue grossly blown out of proportion, then we have a huge problem with leadership.
Women, from now on, should be very careful of Toyols…….these are very bad and naughty creatures!!!
According to PKR insiders, the embattled Wong may be allowed to continue as Bukit Lanjan assemblyman but will relinquish her executive council position in the Selangor Government. This is good news as she does not have to give up her political career. Also, PR will not be burdened by another by-election as they are already stretched by the upcoming by-elections in Perak and Kedah.
Once Wong resigns, she will have to wait for 5 years before she is qualified to be elected as assemblywoman.
From an individual and non-political perspective, I question the situation and the opportune for the pictures to be taken. ( I read The Malay Mail today) How can a person known to her be trusted with such intimacy, and allowing this to happen. I question her logic why she allows this to happen. Who took advantage of the pictures is another story. Sometimes, even the smartest of people do the most outrageous, and in this case, pure stupidity and the question of moral issue. She should move aside because personal credibility is the basis of political trust.
Hey she is a woman like any one us, what’s wrong she is human she has feeling why make a fuss. When the number one can get married at 60 plus anyway she has resigned nothing much can be done now. hopefully the PKR leaders will try save from further damage. take care of the ADUN in the state. it looks like more to surface with all sort of scandals.
EW should hold on the the elected post and serve the people. Than you can call for Toyo to challenge you in the next election in BL
This blog is just as bad as the blogs I visited.
Heavy traffic don’t count for anything if the people beat round the bush. You miss the point most of the time.
When “THE BEST PORNO ACTOR IN MALAYSIA’ admits he’s the guy in d video, the BN’s mainstream media’s propagating he was a good minister, showing his ‘Excellent’ record, a humble man loving his family…..Wat A F===
when Eli Wong victimised by his ex, some BN leader ask her to get lost, some say she did the right things for offer to resign….Wat A F=== Also!!
Eli Wong, there’s no need to resign, the time consuming to unseat the BN state government is 50 years++, dont give up easily even though PR has extra 15 seats, v dont even intend to give them a seat. Keep going to service your rakyat, the rakyat need u, We Need You!!
From a resident in Selangor….
//Heavy traffic don’t count for anything if the people beat round the bush. You miss the point most of the time.//
Like to hear what is the ‘real’ point that bush beaters here have missed. Cre to enlighten?? :)
Dear friends,
A lot of discussions about “indecency”, “morality”, “high integrity (Eli’s resignation”, “money being the motivation for this expose”, etc. etc. Yet we missed one vital ingredient:
COMPASSION
What is compassion? Compassion as defined by Buddha is when our entire being quiver at the sufferings of our fellow sentient being. Can we take a moment in silence and FEEL what Elizabeth is going through at this moment? Go on do it right now….
What do you feel? Sorry that this has happened to her right? Are we now all in agreement that she does not deserve this? The debate, the disagreements, the moral judgments thus ends. Perhaps we can now leave her alone so that she can move on. She has so much to live for rather than be reminded constantly of this “live situation”.
The act is done with the intention to cause suffering. The consequences will come. This is the law of cause and effect… ;)
Hi Cintanegara,
Which is worse? Elizabeth Wong’s nude photo taken illegally or taking bribes or stealing money from the Government coffers?
What I know ,all the money Eli spent is from her salary?
Can Toyo claim the same?
You think money taken illegally is more accepted than the illegally photo taken?
It seems many who are scandalized by this \nude\ episode want all the elected reps to be saints.
To me, this is at most a minor indiscretion unless her ex was a married man and she knew about it.
The most important character for a rep is that she serves the voters well and there is no public loss due to a lack of integrity.
Now if we look at the major losses in so many mega-projects like the crooked JB bridge, that should warrant more outrage.
http://malaysiawatch4.blogspot.com/2009/02/malaysiakini-and-morality-of.html
This issue need not have been raised to this level if we had simply brushed it aside as a small matter that is now with the Police for investigation. Instead we have people railing at Anwar and Khalid, we have people who compared this with CSL and Vijandran as though they are comparing apples with apples, and we have people who say that PR indulges in double standards.
Looks like there are too many drama queens around.

unless her ex was a married man
Uh, no. Makes no difference. Sure, we used to call the women married men had affairs with ‘homebreakers’ where I come from too, but that was in the old days when we all blamed women for the mistakes men made.
It’s not a single woman’s job to preserve married men’s marriages. That’s a married man’s job. The marital status of the cameraman should make no difference to your opinion of EW.
I would think carefully about re-electing a person who breaks up a marriage for whatever reason but I do not want that person to resign for such an act.
“She should move aside because personal credibility is the basis of political trust.” -jamesong88
Oh gawd! What an incredulous statement. If we talk about personal credibility, then i’d say the entire cabinet and ministers of Malaysia need to step aside. We have as our elected rep’s people who requests that officials ‘tutup satu mata’, rep’s who are caught trying to smuggle a suitcase filled with money into another country, reps who had sex with an underage girl. And this few examples i provided are publicly known FACTS. Not rumours.
Let’s not talk about personal credibility, morality and other BS like that please.
EW is a victim who has committed no other crime then being victimized. All those fools that call for her to be punished or to punish herself via resignation are merely perpetrating injustice in this world by demanding that victims be punished.
Elizabeth Wong is one of PK’s most promising recruits. She is hardworking, honest and efficient. When she was given the portfolio of environment, the administration of land was under her ambit of responsibility. In fact so religiously did she do her work that many doubtful development projects by property developers were placed under the back burner. She was the despair of many a developer that they resorted to bribery, threats, name-calling, and threats of law suits. But she stuck to her guns. This was revealed mere days after the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide.
Under such circumstances, it’s no surprise that there are many enemies who tried to discredit her.
Apart from the suspects from the developers’ fraternity, another probable suspect is the BN. BN was trying to topple the Pakatan governments in Selangor and Perak immediately after the 2008 tsunami. After the failed deal with a group of PAS MPs, lead by Hassan Ali, the BN was looking for other ways to destabilize the Pakatan government in Selangor.
It was no coincident when the ISA was unleashed the earliest targets were all women: Teresa, the Sin Chew reporter and one of the PKR woman’s MP (the name seems to slip me). They were the weaker sex and the ISA was meant to intimidate them to submission. I suspected these women were subjected to inducement of jumping over to the BN and threats of being sent to Kamunting to rot. But these were redoubtable women and together with public disgust over the manner the ISA was being used, the BN failed again.
However, the BN did not give up. This time they got her through her boyfriend. In fact her boyfriend is a PKR member. With money dangling before his eyes, this despicable man is even willing to betray his lover to the BN Pharisees. How delightful Toyo was when news broke out on the scandal. Of all the blackest pots and kettles, Toyo was the first one to bay for blood because many of the development projects that he approved when he was the MB was put into abeyance.
Now, however high a pedestal I put Elizabeth on, unfortunately, she is damaged goods. She will not be able to perform her duties as before because of the high possibility of blackmail. Her nude photos are in dangerous hands and you can imagine the BN will not take any action to stop the circulation of the photos in the Internet. This is only my opinion.
To all those self righteous holier than thou people out here: i drink, gamble and had pre-maritial sexual relations. I don’t find anything morally wrong with these. FYI, i am not muslim.
I don’t steal or take money that’s not mine. I don’t rape anyone (or have sex with underage girls). I have not killed anyone nor have ordered anyone be killed. I don’t offer bribes nor do i take any in return.
Yet i am immoral and indecent? But the people who do even worse things than me are not immoral?
Look people, it’s easy to spit on others and talk about the need to be morally righteous when you are faced with a defenseless person who cannot do anything to you.
Let’s see you spit on the rich and powerful and talk about moral righteousness when corrupt politicians in power walk by. Let’s see you put your life on the line when injustices are being carried out unto others in front of your eyes.
I bet you there will not be a single squeak coming from all these people railing about morality and personal credibility.
How is her support from the Chinese communities, after being exposed that her boyfriend is a non-Chinese. You may say it doesn’t matter, but the fact is it may hurt her.
The Crapfather is talking crap again: people who compare CSL/Vijandran & Elizabeth – even if he does not agree it is a valid comparison – will have brushed all 3 cases raising none of any to any level, just the opposite of what he said about “raised to this level” of drama. One last vestige of democracy left in this country is some people’s exercise of their right to ventilate stupidity and utter incessant nonsense.
The One who Writes Eloquently is crapshooting again. The legal expert is now an expert in sexuality. The show-off knows everything.
Siapa yang makan cili dialah yang merasa pedas.
The self-professed expert on sexuality and morality derives his expertise through his incessant spewing of “on the one hand it is this, and on the other hand it is that”, all the while holding only one thing in both hands. Sigh.

Your concern is valid in so far that the not so savoury pictures may be embarrassing to Eli. The fact is many people DO sleep the way like Eli, or, perhaps, even in more “fanciful” manners! So, what’s the big deal here? Surely, people’s imagination are not stirred by those pictures.
What people abhor most is the irresponsible and immoral act of taking those pictures and circulating them so dastardly. The perpetrator(s) is (are) the one(s) to be condemned, not the victims. That should be clear to all.
Hopefully, time will heal most, if not all, wounds.
After all the OPEN discussions and opinions and appropriate damage control actions taken, I do not think the possibility of “blackmail” is likely to happen and would not be of much “value” to BN or anybody for that matter.
If in the coming by-elections, should anybody happen to make use of the pictures, they would run the risk of being frowned upon and run the risk of being penalised. So, not much fear in that.
NO one should also want to harp on it ( the pictures) being an issue of morality, or immorality, for that matter. Because there is simply no basis for that. For sure, Eli would not be portrayed as being immoral. Anybody attempting to so do, would do so at their own risk, because BN’s immorality is much much worse than what we care to write about for now!
I am entitled to my opinion, and the show-off is obviously entitled to his. But to say that I “ventilate stupidity and utter incessant nonsense” can’t go unanswered.
This is part of the show-off’s posting earlier and I quote the crapshooter:
“…Public nakedness (as thisb term is restrictively defined to mean being “seen by public”) whether by wanton streaking/flaunting or having one’s naked pictures circulated….”
Yeah, public nakedness means being seen by the public…sheesh – how come I didn’t think of that ? Maybe the show-off should define the word “naked” so that those of us who are not so good in English can understand what it REALLY means.
Foot long postings don’t mean that they are not stupid or utter nonsense.
Sorry I still don’t see coherence in your preceding posting. Guess you are trying to compete your stupidity and nonsense with mine, which is difficult for me to keep up in view of the ease and spontaneity with which you do it.
May I add my two-cents worth on Eli’s voluntary resignation from both the exco and ADUN posts.
We shall let the people of Selangor decide, for they are the ones who elected her and also the ones she would have to face and answer to. Others have no business to be judge and jury here.
If the majority of people do not accept her relinquishing the posts, then she should be allowed to reconsider her earlier decision.
After all, if it is proven that there is NO element of immorality on her part, then she does not have any basis at all to resign. It doesn’t make any sense if she is asked or forced to. It is the perpetrator(s) who should be penalised, not the victim. Justice must be done, and seen to be done.
Consider the scenario to have another by-election:
It costs money ( lots of it!), time consuming, and effort to have one. Instead of going through all those unnecessary troubles, it would be a lot wiser to focus on more pressing, urgent and important issues affecting the rakyat and state.
No one stands to gain if a by-election is called. After all, it is a forgone conclusion that the PR would win handsomely and it is not the time to see who has the bigger muscle, BN or PR.
Let’s get on with life and stop dwelling on the petty issues.
Since Eli’s case is now in the hands of the police, let them do their job. The culprits must not be allowed to go scot-free; instead he/whoever should face the full wrath of the law.
Godfather and Jeffrey,
With due respect to you both, I had wish that you thrash out “personal matters” privately, through email perhaps?
Both of you are good contributors to this blog, many can vouch for that. I take the position of “to each his own”. Neutral you can say.
What matters most are contribution in the form pertinent opinions, information, and thoughts. We are indeed in a democracy and let that be manifest! Let’s also thrive on differences of opinion, cos I believe that out of diversity and plurality we are the more enriched.
Of course, let sense and sensibility be our guide.
Good luck guys! You are appreciated.
If you cannot take the heat, don’t go into the kitchen. The last time someone like that went into the kitchen he couldn’t stand and left. That is his choice. We believe in the freedom of choice and not just of speech. If you decide to go nude, then it is your business. Be a nudist. Not a Prime Minister, a President, Speaker of the House, a Senator or an MP.
One4All4One:
Thanks for your good intention. I can live with a show-off, and even with long postings that pontificate on a small point. As I pointed out on another thread, there is always a kid in the front row of the class who always raises his hand each time the teacher asks a question – and the answer is always a long-winded answer. I would throw something at this show-off kid, but I won’t hound him out of the class.
What I take issue with is the hidden agenda of this show-off to destabilise PR. It all started with his call prior to March 8 for DAP to dissociate itself from PAS. On the huddud issue, he incessantly campaigned about the dangers of PAS, and why PR in its present form is not a better alternative to BN. He even supported the MCA stand against DAP on the Huddud issue. On the Perak issue, he blamed everything on Anwar due to Anwar’s peceived support for hopping of legislators. He supported Karpal’s public outburst. Now with the Elizabeth Wong issue, he has hit out at Khalid and Anwar for their perceived “double standards”.
I don’t practise double standards. If we hit out at the likes of Kasim Amat or Cintanegara then we should mete out the same treatment to this traitor – the One Who Writes Eloquently and the One Who has a Theory on Everything.
I agree with One4All4One’s comments on the personal lambasting here.
C’mon guys why not use those extra key-strokes to suggest ways to improve the situation?
Maybe if you get to know one enough better you may even enjoy a beer together sometime?
The truth of the writing will come to bear in its course.
We take the trouble to share our views and observations in the hope that we could be mutually informed and propagate what we consider as values, opinions, or principles which could result in a better and fairer world for one and all.
Even though honour, integrity, honesty, morality, etc., etc., are for others to judge, I believe we should strive to constantly and consistently live by them.
We may attempt to “prophesise”, but not to the extent of selling ourselves to the devil.
We may be biased to what we deem as fair and square, but others may have even loftier and more visionary ideals which we may subscribe to.
Let’s live and learn, for knowledge and truth always have a further and wider horizon and wisdom which we are always striving after.
Humbly yours,
Godfather said, “What I take issue with is the hidden agenda of this show-off to destabilise PR.” He then cited examples and gave a summary of his stand : “If we hit out at the likes of Kasim Amat or Cintanegara then we should mete out the same treatment to this traitor – the One Who Writes Eloquently and the One Who has a Theory on Everything.”
I am actually very pleased Godfather has explained his mindset/attitude/stance in this posting at Yesterday at 23: 59.53 .
The contents of the posting speak for themselves and everyone could draw the proper conclusions.
I have tried to explain such mindset/attitude/stance in my posting in earlier thread but never could succeed as well as it comes from the “horse mouth” so to speak.
This is one occasion that I will not deign consider it worth the while to contradict him in my own self defence.
In fact, I applaud all that he said, especially about his perception of my “traitorious” motivations similar to Kasim Amat’s or Cintanegara’s.
I can`t possibly take his credit from what – to me – is a very perfect job of self incrimination, done very nicely, I must say.
Surely One4All4One and HJ Angus you could all see that the personal lambasting is hard to stop because there is, in his words, “no double standards” and the same treatment must be meted out just like other traitors like Kasim Amat or Cintanegara.
I look forward to it. :)
Oh by the way, talking about enjoying a beer together per HJ Angus’s suggestion, I can’t drink when it is all foam and no beer! :)
hi guys, these umno and mca fellows really have very short memories or just pure hypocrites.Remember Perlis and Terenggannu, both the rulers rejected the PM choice of MB and these guys made so much noises against the monarchy. Now that the PR turn to make some noise, wow, bang here, bang there shouting and behaveing like silly and stupid nuts.Stop all these doubled standard, and act like real men and women. Eli.wong in nude,so what ? For those who are against her, don’t talk and act like hyprocrites.Tell me guys, don’t you ever being naked too . It’s just that you fellows managed to keep it private and confidentials. Can you umno and mca politians and ybs deny that you are not all nice and perfect angels ?.
Hmmnn …
Like most of you, my own personal view is that Eli has done nothing wrong. Whether those photos/videos really exist, she’s obviously the victim.
The Malay Mail’s role in this is really strange. According to Eli’s press statement –
“I was informed on Friday 13 February, 2009 by journalists from the Malay Mail that they have in their possession intimate photos of myself and that the newspaper will be publishing a story about these photographs.”
“I was told that some people are trying to distribute photos/videos showing me asleep in partial nudity and also in intimate positions.”
“The distribution and publication of these photos/video is a malicious attack on my personality. ”
Why do I say strange?
Well, firstly, are MSM permitted by law to publish pictures or videos of naked women?
If not, are the public expected to simply trust that there really are such pictures?
I’ve tried searching the Net for images of her nude photos/videos, and I must say that I can’t find any!
Has anyone found any nude photos / videos?
I really don’t see a problem. It seems to me the Malay Mail is bluffing.
And I definitely think Eli has over-reacted by resigning.
She has done nothing wrong, even if it was shown later that the photos/videos exist. As it is now, I’m not even sure it exist.
All I see is a head and shoulder picture, which doesn’t mean anything. I mean, we see this all the time everyday on the beach, even on the streets. Photographers can provide the same picture even when the model is fully clothed.
She should not resign.
I don’t believe there is such pictures and videos.
In any case, even if there is, how do we really know – per Lingamgate – that it is really Eli? I mean – it may look like Eli, but is it really Eli?
Old Observer.
MSM is not permitted, as a matter of propriety as well as law, to publish pictures or videos of naked women.
They likely have such pictures/videos for verification to back their story. Or else they will be sued by Elizabeth Wong for fabricating untruths.
AS I understand it, Elizabeth herself does not deny their existence in her press statement. She only denies that she has done anything wrong.
The matter is unlikely to blow up to present proportion if the pictures (at least) if not videos were not circulated and got into MSM’s hands.
They are “likely”?
I actually think Eli is taking the prudent approach. Since she was sleeping, she couldn’t have known what other pictures/videos were taken.
In this sense, she cannot be expected to deny that there isn’t any such pictures/videos. Doing so would be presumptious on her part.
To resign is to forever forsake political office without testing whether such pictures/videos exist or not.
The other thing about resigning is –she might never be able to be a People’s Representative in future. Malay Mail / BN will hold this as ransom later on.
She should be allowed to test whether such videos/pictures exist.
At least with CSL – everything was made transparent – the DVD was circulated, made available to public, for all to see. Then, there is opportunity for closure, and CSL could start his political career again, as he has now.
But how will Eli get back to politics after this, without testing the existance of the pictures/videos, which could be used forever as ransom?
One more anak ayam added on my list; not a troll ….but a back-side psychologist( excuse my layman terminology). Read not the words or the analysis (anal…. my foot ,sounds like Mahathir’s sodomitysis), reasons and logics but the intent behind the commentaries!!!!! Chatterbox. How to stop it? Unplug!!!!!
Beware of anak ayams fellas, they are cheap.
Another consideration – to support the position that such videos/pictures should be publicized if they truly exist – is to let the public decide.
If Perak loses the by-election because of Eli – ass-u-me-ing such pictures/videos exist and were distributed – then, Malaysians as a whole deserve BN government.
If we – the Rakyat – still cannot differentiate the two (holding political office, versus private life) – then, we deserve BN government.
There should be no sound reason for Eli to resign.
Sorry, it should be “If PR loses the Perak by-election”, not “If Perak loses the by-election”.
Another consideration – with today’s technology – isn’t it easy to “doctor” a picture or a video of “Eli sleeping”, when it’s not Eli?
I really don’t know why this has to be blown to such a big thing.
Are our leaders so technically challenged?
If Eli denies it a.l.a. Lingam – what can BN do? Call for a Royal Commission of Enquiry?
Eli should never have to resign.
Eli should not resign if her motive for resigning is to not jeorpadize the PR’s chances in the coming by-elections.
In fact, this is a good opportunity to test the maturity of Perakian voters.
We might be surprised that PR can still win DESPITE Eli not stepping down, and despite all the rubbish that BN throws at PR by using Eli’s nude photos/videos (if they exist).
Or look at this another way – if PR loses because BN trumpets Eli’s nude photos/videos – then, doesn’t that tells you about the maturity of Perakian voters?
There is nothing to fear except fear itself.
Furthermore, Eli claims that she’s a victim, although she has not elaborated (as far as I understand it) and many people can understand this.
From what I’ve seen, she has done nothing wrong.
If someone says she’s not capable of being prudent or allowing an intruder to come into her room to photograph here, I see this as no different from someone robbing or raping a victim.
It’s time Malaysians wake up and realize that whilst we can take precautions – rapes and thefts and burglary and murder – are events that are not fully controllable.
So, why not test this in Perak by-election?
If PR loses, then, we will know.
Noone believed last year’s GE could happen the year before.
It was tested, and we were surprised.
Let’s test this now.
Let’s not underestimate the maturity of our voters.
If we lose, then, just accept the loss and accept that Malaysia is simply too primitive to be ready to accept a PR government that promises greater maturity.
On the other hand, we might be surprised.
We might see voters rising above the occasion and reject BN’s rubbish.
1. Someone mentioned Eli is “damaged goods” … LOL!
Exactly how is she “damaged”? Because she was photographed without her consent? LOL.
2. Someone speculated that maybe, Eli resigns because she was a willing participant in the picture/video.
Look.
To me, this is exactly why Eli should not resign, but let BN/Malay Mail publicize the full video/pictures.
We cannot hide from the truth forever.
If such videos/pictures exist, eventually, it’ll come out anyway. If not this year, then, next year or the year after as long as it suits them.
If one doesn’t want to be blackmailed, then, don’t do things which your political opponent can use later. Period. Live and learn.
But first things first. You must have closure. Eli needs to put this behind her, but she cannot do this if she resigns. For better or worse, she needs the pictures/videos to surface, IF they exist.
In this sense, she can learn a lot from CSL where the DVDs surfaced, and he admitted participation, apologized, resign, and later on, came back to politics.
Eli needs the pictures/videos to surface so that she can have the opportunity to have full closure. Without it, she can never return to politics without this constantly hanging over her head.
3. Someone speculates that Eli resigned because there was graphic sexual acts, and Eli is not married and engaged in pre-marital sex.
LOL!
Again, this is one reason why Eli should NOT resign.
Otherwise, all sorts of rumours will come up.
And the truth is, no one has any control whether the photos/videos will surface later or not.
PKR leaderhip should NOT accept her resignation.
Period.
Politicians must not fear being accused of engaging in pre-marital sex.
So what if they say she engages in pre-marital sex. It is between 2 consenting adults who happens to love one another at the time of the act. It’s a private matter between the 2 consenting adults, and really none of anyone else’s business.
If Perakians cannot see this, then, the truth is they don’t deserve a PR government, and they deserve a BN government, and we should not force them to accept a PR government.
If the society is not ready for such truth, then, they are just not ready.
Let’s accept that, but still go ahead and try to educate our society better.
Let’s tell them why Perakians must look beyond Eli’s pre-marital sex (assuming she engages, which I really don’t know and couldn’t care less).
Let’s tell them why BN government corrupts Perak’s coffers.
Let Perakians make a fully informed choice.
In this economic crisis, Perakians are not stupid. Malaysians are not stupid.
But if Eli resigns, then, isn’t PR treating Malaysians as stupid?
cintanegara u spew filth from ur mouth. if being naked in ur own home behind doors is wrong, all umno peeps should be crucified the moment they disrobe in the showers! craphead.
No one here have speculated that the man who took the photos lost the phone. That could be his argument, if caught. Then he will also be a victim.
BN would say it is also a victim because the PR and people immediately pointed fingers at BN.
Please send the guy to punishment under hudud law.
Immorality of the intimate, physical kind is punishable by stoning, only by those who have not been immoral in all sorts of ways, sayeth one wise man many moons ago. Therefore none of us fits that criteria of even picking up the first stone. Having said that, age old tried and tested traditions stand strong. Thou shalt marry. Or give thyself totally unto the Lord. Or if none of these is your taste, then remember what some experienced dude said. After eating, wash your mouth with soap and water, brush your teeth, do not leave even a single patch of oil on your mouth. Standards have to be set up among the politicians. Remember a case reported in our neighbouring country ? A certain politician fooled around with his Indonesian maid and the pictures inserted into his computer and who found out if not his wife and who caused his political career to end if not his wife ? Don’t use public money for political games. If not, the public will become poor, the country will become poor and in the end, nobody will give us even the most basic respect. Change the system of government. This five years, let the PR rules. The next five years, the BN. And it goes on alternatingly so that nobody has to be the enemy.
Come on guys, in politics all your votes at this site constitute only , maybe less than 1% of any MP seat. You are liberal enough to state your acceptance of such incident but what about the average voters? Many will be manupulated to see otherwise!
This is a good forum for those who have the opportunity to access to a computer and give their views.
In spite of many of us not reading the MSMs, they still sell. This is the medium that still influences hence under strict control, though blogging is slowly creeping up the graph.
Since EW has not come out with all the ‘truth’, the situation will be exploited by the Toyol Character! By the way, surely some one has got something on him. Let’s put one on him!!
We should all just leave her alone and for her, the right thing to do is to resign and move on with her life. Go somewhere and get on with life.
No point putting a bold front and say “I did no wrong” and I am proud of my sexuality. – No one disputes that! ‘Nasi sudah menjadi bubur’ – just resign, and save PKR/PR Government further embarrassment!
Remember Liza.

A lot of your supporters are young people. People who are heavy users of the net and gadgets. People who form and mold the net and the gadget culture. Believe me they know and understand your situation fully. Nudity photo shots are not an oddity to them and would not shock their system or surprise or disgust them at all. So once again i say carry on. Just carry on.

The idiot who did this to you obviously has the intention to discredit you and to bring your political ideals down. Perhaps not. Perhaps he or she was paid and therefore the real motive was more economy than anything else. But look at the response you received. Support. Symphaty. Pleas to continue. You have turned into a hero of the people. So again, pls carry on.

The reality is that these one time adun adun suddenly found themselves very very valuable! Cashing out is always an option. Not everyone is like uncle kit or saudara karpal….

There are many temptations in life, it could be sex, money, power, etc. . BN strategists will know how to use them most effectively!!!
No wonder Singapore PAP govt does not allow single woman or man to be MP as they could be tempted by sex (this does not mean that married man or woman would not be tempted too, but may be less likely, I believe they have statistics to back up with this practice!!!).

If she wants to be a nudist then join the nudist colony.
Eli Wong has offered to resign as EXCO member and ADUN. If the resignation from the post of EXCO was accepted, the Sultan would not be bothered with deciding whether the conduct of Eli Wong met his standard expected of EXCO members. As for the position of ADUN, there is no requirement that she should quit based on what has been in cirulation or yet to appear. It would be better for PKR to retain her as ADUN for number count, rather than to face a by-election.
By-elections even if conducted for the three kataks in Perak might not bring votes or easy victory for PK. Voters would ask why send untested candidates to occupy positions where they could use them to their individual advantages.
The old saying that one should ‘behave even when one is alone in a dark room’ applies especially to public figures. Yes curse all those who had been mischievious in spreading the indecent pictures. But if one had guarded the moments which could led to exploitation by others, then the unwanted episode woudn’t have happened. Blame it on luck or fate all one wishes, but it demonstrates lack of foresight or wisdom.

Nah. Bond, James Bond is an overt spy. A BN mole/spy, by definition and intent, has to be a covert spy.
James Shaken-but-not-stirred Bond removes the skirt and sleeps with his woman.
A BN mole/spy lifts the skirt and photograph his sleeping woman.
The crapshooting show-off is not a BN mole or spy. He’s just a plant – and a spineless one at that. He won’t photograph his sleeping woman unless he is legally sure that on the one hand there are no liabilities on his side, and on the other hand he gets compliments for his handiwork.

Can someone explain to me how is resigning the “right” thing to do?
If the purpose of resigning is to trigger a by-election, so as to go back to the people to get a fresh mandate, then, I agree this could be one of many “right” things to do.
But if the purpose of resigning is – as Jong suggested – to go away, leave politics – then, how is running away solving the problem? What about idiots like Toyol who is quick to apply his double-standard hypocrisy to demand Eli to resign – why doesn’t Jong ask Toyol to resign first?
This country needs more people like Eli to be in office, than people like Toyol.
Jong, if you want to decide who stays in office, then, suggest you tell Toyol to get lost first about 10 times, before you even suggest once for Eli to resign. 10 to 1 is about the right proportion, although I know others might think 1,000 to 1 is a more appropriate proportion.

______________
pulau_sibu,
Extremely unlikely. Not only must he lost his phone, it also requires the finder to be a politically opportunistic, knowledgeable, kay-poh-chee to 1. pick up the phone (most people would just ignore it), 2. browse the address book (most people would not necessarily know how to do this with another model handphone), 3. bypass the password (ass-u-me-ing the phone is protected with password), 4. browse all the picture and video files stored in the phone (most ordinary people respect the privacy of others), 5. Made the connection that the girl is Eli (if you’re from out of state, you probably wouldn’t know what Eli looks like, or knows it’s Eli for sure), 6. Go to Malay Mail to give the picture / video (again, I believe the vast majority wouldn’t do this), 7. And how did Toyol knew about this so fast, and is so quick to condemn Eli?
In short, the balance of probability to me indicates that this is definitely malicious, and definitely not accidental. And to me, the guy who originally took such potentially compromising videos/pictures WHEN ELI is sleeping (when you sleep, can you give your permission to be video-taped / have your photograph taken?) … – that already speaks volume about his character.
“New Politics in Malaysia” ?
I think Pakatan set the agenda and pace for the new politics in Malaysia… And it does not look healthy. In fact Farish should be impartial enough to look at the rise in ugly politics since March 08 elections. Pakatan set the precedent and now it must bear the consequences and reverse its amoral politicking rather than rising to the slogan of “if you can’t beat ’em, join them attitude.”
“the rise in ugly politics since March 08 elections” – zak_hammaad
Zak_hamaad, where have you been the past 20 years? Not in Malaysia i expect.
Politics in Malaysia has been dirt ridden ugly even before Mar 8.
Here’s some examples of dirty politics being played prior to Mar 8.
– CSL sex videos being released to destroy him politically.
– A prominent political threat is sent to jail via trumped up charges of sodomy and a sham trial.
– Takeover of Sabah by BN after PBS won the elections via katak’s.
– A prominent politician is photographed wearing a traditional tribal costume with a cross in order to discredit him among the muslim voters.
Hello! All these has been happening even before Mar 8. Where have you been all these time?
“New Politics” is just only a rallying cry for justice, integrity, accountability, impartiality, transparency, and a sensible and clean government.
Don’t read too much into the slogan, though. Because action always speaks louder than words do.
The focus should be trained at getting rid of unwanted historical, social, economic, and political baggages which had been encumbering the nation for far too long and in the process holding the nation back in terms of lost opportunities, opportunity costs and the lost years of possible development and progress.
Much had been said about the affirmative action policy hatched thirty years ago and its consequences. Something drastic needs to be done on this to right what’s wrong.
And there are a myriad of contentious issues which Malaysians thought had long past their useful lives and needed to be revisited.
Well, all those possible changes and restructuring, in a nutshell, would constitute the “New Politics” that Malaysians are crying for.
The will needed to do it would be nothing short of herculean and only the honest and impartial, peppered with compassion and magnanimous, would qualify.
Good luck Malaysia!

74%!
That’s nearly three-quarters who wants State Assembly to be dissolved!
What Najib did in Perak is totally DISGUSTING, and clearly does NOT reflect the will of the People!
If disagree, put it to the test.
Dissolve the Assembly and call for fresh elections in Perak!

Nothing much to say except……serve you right MUMMY……you deserve the punishment that you received…….because you gave birth to scums like me….

Don & Jeff,
I waded into the DMZ & no-man’s-land in order to inject a bit of humour and light-heartedness to diffuse the tension and mounting animosity.
Got to HAND it to you guys. One is accusing the other of being a three-HANDED economist (on the one HAND this, and on the other HAND that, and on the third HAND…).
It takes two HANDS to clap (note not crap, as in crapshooting), so if we can HANDLE this hand-wringing issue more politely and civilly, I am sure those observers who are sidelined who lend you guys a HAND to stop man-HANDLING each other.
Come on guys, stretch out your HAND of friendship. In this time of looming recession (and dare I say it, depression), it is depressing to see you otherwise mature guys MISHANDLING each other, instead of extending a helping HAND.
With HANDS over backs, I say “shake HANDS and peace be with you”, otherwise I will throw up my HANDS in dismay.
I really wish those who blindly support one party or another really read my posts properly, instead of assuming and putting words in my mouth. I specifically used the words “…rise in ugly politics…”, it does not whitewas the ugly politics that have existed in Malaysia prior to March 08. It was a mere expression of the RISE in ugly politics, neither did I specifically mention who is more responsible for it. It can’t be denied however, that the tactics used by Pakatan and it’s incompetent figure heads have indeed backfired; not only on their hold on Perak, but possibly on other states under their control. We also see an internal rift by the statements of Karpal. There can be no denying that Pakatan are on the slide while the BN are gaining momentum once again.
Furthermore Old.observer says:
>> DSAI invited Pak Lah to discuss transition of power
DSAI is not worth the paper his name is written on. His asking or discussing anything is futile because he is a liar and a fraud. He is also of an unstable mental state. There was NO evidence whatsoever that Pakatan had the nos to topple the federal government and it was a public stunt that backfired on Anwar.
As for Perak, once the party hopping of the 3 individuals came to light and established as fact, there was no need to suspect them as they made their intention clear and in public!
The two situations are diametrically different, with all due respect.

Behind the mutual mudslingings between Crapfather and me – which looks “personal” and an obvious irritation to the rest – is something actually not really “personal” but a wide gulf in world view and ideological approach including to use in this blog. It is this part that cannot be bridged and will always be a source of mutual hostility.
Although my tilt is in favour of change by PR – on the premise of every change from an existing moribund system always represents a notch better than existing status quo in the slow march to a better society – yet my partisanship is always on the side on what, in my opinion, is good and best interest of Malaysians and country in general, without a steady focus on what – to me – is true and real.
Hence I am not in this sense partisan for or against BN or PR for its own sake and knowing my profound distrust of politicians in general I reserve the right to criticise/praise whichever camp – BN or PR – they belong to if they’re inconsistent or unprincipled and not acting what to me (right or wrong) is in interest of best interest of Malaysians (including our children) and country in general – or otherwise the opposite…..
Godfather’s focus is diametrically opposed. He thinks that our peoples and nations’ first and immediate interest is to rid the Great Oppressor (BN) and for that nothing must be done by way of serious criticism of Pakatan Rakyat or its defacto head, Anwar or any other leaders because such a thing will sow confusion, undermine unity amongst PR’s supporters, destabilise PR and slow its advancement of PR towards the victory line – for the first time so near after 308. Anyone who does that – as I do – is therefore traitorous and better hounded out of this blog since it does no good to the Common Cause.
This is a position I profoundly disagree.
I think if PR or its leaders cannot withstand constructive criticism and pointing failure to their faults even at this juncture – and will be destabilised by legitimate criticisms based on the truth – then I think it would make no difference whether now or later it is destabilised, as it will be, they not grounded on principles that perenially enduring.
Secondly I also think even from perspective of a focussed supporter such as Godfather, there must be a recognition that criticisms of a valid nature againt PR & its leaders are a good thing because they are a mirror to their weaknesses which if they could correct and rectify, which would then serve their cause in the longer run….. Now if the criticisms are invalid they may be argued against and disputed civilly but if they are valid then they should stand and not be silenced by hostility of supporters who view them as destructive/traitorious to the Opposition Cause.
In the first place, I take LKS Blog as serving the Malaysian Cause and not just the PR’s Cause, so I yield the ground to no one who wants to suppress a democratic free flow/exchange of debate of ideas (including criticisms of PR or its leaders) based on service of what is true rather than what is partisan for one side, and I will debate whether civilly or uncivilly, trade insult for insult, reason for reason to defend this ground!
Oops – “with a steady focus on what – to me – is true and real.” in second para above.
Kenapa Tian Chua tiba-tiba naik angin apabila ditanya apakah beliau adalah salah seorang teman lelaki Elizabeth Wong? Apabila ditanya oleh pemberita Agendadaily, beliau lantas berkata, “If you ask me again, I smash your head”. Tak salah wartwan Agendadaily menyoal beliau kerana rakyat mahu tahu, lagi pun rakyat perlu tahu.
What happened to Eli Wong is purely a personal matter. But it is very unfortunate she got into this mess. On the question of whether she should resign as state assemblyman and state councillor, I believe only she herself knows best. I think the public and her supporters should let her make her own decision.
“…………rakyat mahu tahu, lagi pun rakyat perlu tahu.” – Kassim Amat

Apakah encik Kassim orang Islam? Adakah encik Kassim bersembahyang?
