Facebook friends are shocked that I am at Pulau Perhentian because they expect the region to be closed because it is monsoon period.
I was of similar feeling and I was surprised when it was proposed that the DAP hqrs break be held at Pulau Perhentian as I expected the area to be unhabitable because of monster monsoon season at this period.
But not to be a wet blanket I went along, despite grave reservations.
I was very surprised that there was no storm whatsoever. The sea was so calm and clear that it was like sheet of glass.
I am told that until the last few years, Pulau Perhentian was virtually a closed area because of public perceptions that monsoon in the East Coast begins in October.
But surprise of suprises, it is not so. According to the Bubu Long Beach Resort (Pulau Perhentian Kechil) operations manager, Zaidon Ismail, the climate calendar has changed. Maybe it is because of the global climate change.
The Bubu Long Beach Resort live-wire, Along Bubu, tells me that the climate is so changed that the authorities concerned is confident of organising a Perhentian Island Challenge involving kayaking, jungle tracking and sea sports challenges and this will be held on 17 to 19 October.
This has been a hairs-down experience. I went snorkelling. I also went up to the wind mill. Many ask why I have choosen Pulau Perhentian Kecil and not Perhentian Besar or Pulau Redang.
It was not a conscious choice but I did not regret the final destination. It was unforgettable experience with great friends Zaidon and Along Bubu.
Enjoy yourself and have a great time at Pulau Perhentian Kecil!
1. have a nice break.any strategies meeting there?
2. laut yang tenang jangan disangka tiada ombak
bah… You are now spokeperson of that resort already haha~
uncle kit, saw your photos in the facebook. Hope you did enjoy yourself there. Recharge yourself before the next parliament sessions reconvene.
Glad to know that you are enjoying yourself over there!! It’s time for you to recharge yourself and have a good break after a busy year. Hope to go there one day!
Born as Kelantanese, the East Coast of West Malaysia enjoy hassle free Sunshine period starting from March to middle of October, the best time is May to September, the strong monsoon wind and the rough sea waves started late October and ended usually after the Chinese New Year, i.e late February, but the political tsunami started while the east coast folks are suppose to enjoy their best time of the year and there seem to be more and more rough wind and wave blowing heavily in the political arena of our country, when will all this nonsense end and give us back the best time of our life?
Uncle YB kit, remember, the monsoon season started in October in east coast, come this middle of october, it will follow u to the Parliament and is neither going to be heavy downpour and strong wind nor tsunami, we expect to see earthquake!!!
well … hot spells and crazing storms happen off and on lately. The weather is just so unpredictable due to the global climate changes.
Anyway, these islands, the corals and sea creatures are living treasures. Let’s hope that our future generations will be able to enjoy these sights.
There’s always a calmness before the storm
So always be well prepared and remain strong
Since we’ll never know what will be the new norm
When some unforeseen circumstances begin to go wrong

UNCLE LIM, WHEN YOU WENT SNORKELLING, DID YOU SEE ANY SHARK OF TURTLE. DID YOU SNORKEL NEAR THE HOTEL, IF YES DID YOU SEE THE BIG GROUPER AND ALSO THE SCHOOL OF PARROT HUMPBACK FISH WHICH ARE REALLY HUGH. YOU MUST HAVE ENJOYED ESPECIALLY THE FOOD THERE. HOW DID YOU FIND THE SAMBAL BELACAN. HOT STUFF EH? ANYWAY GOOD FOR YOU. NEXT TIME IF YOU PLAN TO BE THERE AGAIN, DO LET ME KNOW. I CAN SHOW YOU INTERESTING PLACES FOR YOU TO REALLY ENJOY YOUR SNORKELLING ADVENTURE.
WOW!!!….Lim Kit Siang went snorkelling at his age?
So glad to hear this.
He is still very fit…and healthy.
That’s good.
Yes…for past 15 years…sudden climate changes are no more surprises…as Earth is showing signs after signs…another great disaster will come soon.
This has nothing to do with predictions…..but simply reactions from the bad actions…particularly from USA and Russia..destroying mother Earth…with their thousands of missiles testings.
But they are ignoring all these.and blame poor countries…destroying forests.
They can do it….for developments…others cannot.
Anyway..that’s true also.
So…blame each other…..and the whole world will heat up and burst into pieces….sooner or later.
Meanwhile….an Island that is supposed to be.. not safe…has turned to be.. a paradise island…and some paradise cites…all over the world…will be flooded..turning to hell cities.
Vienna is feeling the effect..right now.
Nearby us…are some cities in Thailand…and Jakarta…in particular.
Ah, nothing like a good salt-bath to cleanse oneself off the negative energy that is hanging heavy over the whole nation.
Conserve and be prepared for the days ahead. Badawi will most probably not contest the premiership. Stocks are headed for a free fall barring any move by Jibby to use public funds to support the market.
We’ll be screwed a few more time before we can get out of this mess. Hang in there Kit.
Uncle Lim, enjoy your trip, rest well & God bless.
YB Kit, the two monsoon season are North East Monsoon (NE) starts from November and end in March and the South West Monsoon (SW) begins from May and end in September. So the months in between is the transition period whereby you find good weather as you had experienced but possibility of bad weather can’t be ruled out but most likely weather is forecasted to be good during this transition period.
That is how great is the almighty. So, the political change in this country is following the similar trend, just like next coming month when NE monsoon begins you will find a phenomena known as ‘monsoon surges’ whereby it will rains non stop for at least a week or more. So YB Kit, will there be a political ‘monsoon surges’ coming?…!!!! If not why not YB. Good rest and good health YB.
YB,
Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai has just legalised melamine in food products and had lied earlier that the European Union countries allow 30 ppm melamine in food products.
I’m saddened by the inactions of the opposition regards this melamine crisis as it is clear that our health minister is incompetent to handle this crisis.
Malaysia has appeared under the radar of a few countries in exporting melamine tainted products.
Will the opposition at least turun padang?
I have blogged extensively on this melamine crisis and I hope someone might just pick up from there as the mismanagement of this crisis can possibly cause more than health hazards or even deaths.

UNCLE KIT:
JUST LETTING MY MINE ROLLLLLLLL ON A SUNDAY MORNING.
I BELIEVE THE THAT ALL THOSE MISHAPS THAT HAS UNFORTUNATELY HAPPENED ON ALL OPPOSITION ELEMENTS ARE NOT COINCIDENCE.
I BELIEVE THAT A CERTAIN EXTREMES GROUP IN THIS COUNTRY HAS SET UP A “COVERT COUNTER-OPPOSITION” ELEMENT TO TERRIFY MEMBERS OF THE OPPOSITION.
I BELIEVED THAT THIS “CCO” ELEMENT IS SETUP BY A PARTICULARLY RACIST INDIVIDUAL WHOM DICTIONARY DOES NOT CONTAIN THE WORD “SORRY”.
I HOPE THAT THE P.R WOULD BE MORE CAREFUL AND SET UP A COUNTER TERRORISM COMMITTEE TO MONITOR THE MOVEMENT OF THE ABOVE. ENGAGE FOREIGN EXPERTS IF NECESSARY.
SPY ON THEM AS THEY SPY ON US.
Saudara Lim, enjoy the nature and when you are in power, remember to make some effort to pass these treasures to the next generation. Have a nice holiday, the soul needs it.
I went to the island way back in the 80s.But I would suggest uncle Kit go to Pulau Redang which is even better. But a word of caution.Dont go to the islands as the monsoon season is getting nearer.I can still remember the incident while going to Pulau Redang as the waves were higher than the boat I was in.It was an unforgetable experience till now.
Very glad to know you’ve been kind to yourself, Kit Siang. You deserve time out from all that’s been going on – so when Parliament reconvenes on the 13th you’ll be back FULLY RECHARGED and ready to shovel shit!!! :-)

Hi Uncle Lim…its good to know that the opposition is holidaying in Malaysia ” Cuti Cuti Malaysia” unlike the Govt which is promoting Visit Malaysia but the backbenchers holidaying in Taiwan! Good One and plse continue winning the hearts of more Malaysians!
Hi Unlce Kit,
Have a nice holiday . We too went to Sipadan Island for a nice local trip Visit Malaysia and suprised to see many immigrants from neighboring countires working in the tourism industry in Sabah. Some English tourist asked where are the local Malays who used to work here and local Malaysians are missing too. Suprisingly, we overheard few local politicians having some drinks and enjoying swimming at the beaches voiced their worried that more immigrants are taking over the jobs from the locals.
A bit of nice conversation and hot debates between them where most foreign tourists are too happy to join in including myself.
A Sabahan tribe biz man started saying that those UMNOputra goons are arrogance and selfish caused BN disaster. Dont worry let more cronies and corrupted BN goons continued with their sinful acts to destroy their own races in coming decades very soon.
Another German tourist said Malaysians are seeing more immigrants from Indonesia, Philipines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myammar, Africa and Middle East taking over the jobs of local Malays whereas the non-Malay educated Chinese and Indian communities are migrating away back to China, Taiwan, Canada, Australia, NZ and other countries. The population of Chinese and Indian Malaysians are declining over past decades. We will witness other immigrants are taking over the businesses of Chinese and the estate jobs from Indians as well as grabing more labor jobs from Malays.
A Singaporean kiasu guy voiced out that sooner or later, the UMNO goons will face these hardcore immigrants and Malays will suffer more in time to come if the local Malaysians are unwilling to change and let the dirty politicians to continue playing racist and religion cards. Worst if the UMNO/BN corrupt govt continue to divide and rule policies in Malaysia. Inflation, corruptions, social ills and etc are destroying the nation sooner or later.
A Kadazan Dusun local angrily said our nation doomday is heading now if no change in the leadership and the fed govt today.
An UMNO lawyer voice his ungrateful sad voice to UMNO traitor, Zaid Ibrahim for his brave words and actions to tell off PM and his own UMNO people.
A PR Sabahan member praised Zaid Ibrahim has long good vision whereas other Malays are “mudah lupa” , ” kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang”,” money racist politic” and ” tongkat ali” assistance from govt, etc with a short vision only.
Even Dr M admitted he failed his duties to change Malays mindset but eventually indirectly destroyed the Malays with NEP assistance caused them to be corrupted and lazy during his past iron fist ruled 22 years. Worst scenario wa Pak Lah “work with me ” lip services to Malaysians are back fired him to step down now.
A Historian Russian finally shaked his head and shouted: “What a damn shame in Malaysian history ?”
Finally the hot debate was ceased by a local Dayak Sabahan said: “Looks who is talking here, many UMNO goons are fighting for No 2 powerful post for future DPM ? Najib asking BN to change but will he change too ?”
All smiled and laughed out loud : LET US CHANGE, THE STRONG TSUNAMI WIND IS HEADING SABAH SOON.

[Photo] Zaid attacks race politics
Amid widespread speculation over his political future, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has criticised his own party Umno for contributing to race relations problems.
He also urged Umno to engender a more fair-minded administration, and lead the Malays towards having better race relations with non-Malays.
Speaking to the mass-circulation Chinese-language Sin Chew Daily in his most extensive interview since resigning as a member of the Cabinet recently, Zaid also called for more open debates over “sensitive issues”.
He also pointed out that the results of the March general election were a clear message from the people that they wanted change, but the government had failed to change.
it’s that confirmed DAP loves Malaysia more than BN broke-Back…. :-)
Selamat Hari Raya & Bercuti di Malaysia…
“I was very surprised that there was no storm whatsoever. The sea was so calm and clear that it was like sheet of glass. ”
Uncle Lim, I think that everyone should avoid these islands during the monsoon season. Don’t be lulled by the calm appearance!
What you are experiencing may be a lull before the storm hits.
Since the weather is so unpredictable now it’s better to err on the side of caution.
I don’t know whether anyone realised this – there is practicably no haze this time around although the haze is raging in Indonesia as shown on TV.
We also have requent rain during this time when it should have been dry.
So, I suggest that you and fellow DAP members stay out of the water at all times.
Then Perhentian islands should be my next diving target…
I begining lost interest in your blog. NATO, No Action Talk Only. RPK stay behind bar, PR begining slowing the fire going sun-tan, and media brewing up umno news on general assembly which is so boring, I’m thinking whether to buy newspaper or not. What a boring world !!!
Everybody let’s go dive ourselve deep deep into the sea. At least we can forget the surface world which is so artificial.
Hi uncle Lim,
Hope your hoilday is good. Just checked your facebook and couln’t find any photos of Perhentian. Maybe consider uploading more pics in future?
DAP members are loyal unlike BN. They spend the money within the economy so that there is some multiplier effect on the locals. The BN Backbenchers on the other hand spends on air travel, expensive accomodation, tours disguised as study groups. A lot of forex lost.
So who are the real Malaysians?
I’m wondering what are u really want to say. Is it about having good time, and so there will be no ‘earthquake’ comes the next parlimentary sitting? Or, is it about the eastern folk who are now so peaceful with the new scenario in politics? Or, is it that the DAP members are trying to tell the easterners that they are fun loving people, and do not wish to shake the present mode of life? Or, are u trying to tell us that u have already achieve what u aspire?
One can understand son of perpaduan’s sentiments expressed in posting at 13:41.15 above.
The country is entering a phase of a prolonged political stalemate, with sign of light at end of tunnel.
Although all await the PM’s announcement on 9th Oct, no one would be surprised at his declining nomination for the president’s post in the Umno giving way to power brokers/warlords – identified with the old order of Mahathirism – taking over, ostensibly to thwart Anwar’s realization of the 19/16 take over project.
Anwar himself is resoundingly quiet of late. Hopes pinned on his 9/16 takeover are fast receding and Raja Petra Kamurudin, fighting the people’s cause, is languishing in Kamunting with no prospects of reprieve.
Many then turn their hopes to the traditional rulers hoping that they will break the impasse by perhaps dissolving parliament to pave the way for fresh elections given the imminent resignation of the PM and the need to replace him by one who could command the majority in Dewan Rakyat according to article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
However this too encounters the impediment that there is nothing in the constitution that expressly confers on Rulers the right to dissolve parliament if the retiring PM does not request for it!
Besides, Dawsheng has also cogently argued in his posting at 14:18.01 in the earlier blog thread { Abdullah – “to be or not to be”} that rulers are themselves might well be resistant to change, there being neither precedence nor motive for them to be partisan to facilitate a change of government, upsetting the status quo and those who have ruled for 50 years, in possible imperillment of the institution of constitutional monarchy.
Meanwhile, if one reads the latest news, more and more powerful contenders are surfacing to contest for posts to ascend the party hierarchy, made possible by the imminent departure of the present premier, with every promise that the old Order of Mahathirism will continue to thrive long and prosperously.
The champions of the people at DAP Hqrs have, on the other hand, taken a pleasant break at Pulau Perhentian.
Some of us feel that we may as well also take a break for nothing else could be done to advance the cause of change beyond the present stalemate and impasse…..
son of perpaduan said he lost interest in this blog.
I suppose he has good reasons : neither this blog nor others have any ‘new’ workable ideas to go beyond the stalemate and impasse as the idea for change itself is growing stale.
Typo omission in 2nd para above – “The country is entering a phase of a prolonged political stalemate, with NO sign of light at end of tunnel.”
Jeffrey, what do you suggest?
It seems that there is no provision in the constitution for this and that.
I’m sure that after fifty plus years of UMNO/BN rule, they would have bent all the rules in their favour!!
That’s why it’s very difficult to play by the book!
The PR must do everything in its power to effect a change of government even if it means enticing the government MPs to jump ship.
At this moment, I am blank. I am thinking of a holiday. Yes, the aspiration “PR must do everything in its power” but do what? There’s no point of an aspiration unmatched by inspiration :)
Son of Perpaduan, Jeffrey
The Beach is beautiful, the sea is calm and the weather is fine. Suddendly u feel a slight dizziness. An earthquake from far away land. You walk along the beach, sea cucumber strew across the beach. U r wondering what is the phenomenon.
Far into the ocean through ur binocular u can see a thin white line. Ha! what a beautiful scene. Exactly like Uncle Kit enjoying in Pulau Perhentian.
The white line approach nearer. It like a small ripple in the middle of the sea. What a beautiful and serene view.
The ripple approach nearer now it looks more like a small waterfall in the middle of the sea. What a wonderful view.
As the waterfall reaches the shores it turns out to be hugh tidal wave more like the white water surfing but many times stronger and bigger.
That is the tsunami coming. So friends, I assume this is what our uncle Kit tries to tell us. Hold tight and run to higher ground he is hinting to those on the political beach or u might be swept under. Well the tsunami also will bring along tonnes of mud, sludge and rubbish dump by our unscrupulous politician into the political ocean.
The Tsunami Chronologicals
Uncle YB Lim, the DAP team deserves this holiday break after all the hard work to achieve the March08 tsunami!
And oh, by the way, just to kay poh a little. How many members of the team went for the break?
Try to match lah the GOONS amount of approximately reported figure of 500,000 pounds for around 20 morons! (this is for achieving the March08 results, then in future 1,000,000 pounds for achieving a changeover) then bill the GOON government for it under the topic – refresher and recharging course for the betterment of ALL MALAYSIANS!
Am sure the RAKYAT doesn’t mind this small amount (as compared to what they spent and it’s in foreign land).
Ha ha ha .
Enjoy yourselves guys and gals.
I think the climate change effect is appearing to be more obvious now, Malaysian must adopt a greener lifestyle and we should enforce environment protection act, stop excessive carbon cases emission and stop open burning in our housing are too!
MASS developtment project that ends with ashes as it only gaves beneficial for the MP’s and their colonies also tribute the loses of our precious Trees and Greenhouse effect.
• THE FUTURE most precious (ENERGY) = Fuel (sold/discriminate by a bunch of kleptocrat).
• WHITE SAND = Solar Energy, in Malaysia had 99% purest in the world. Its the main raw meterial for solar chips (sold/discriminate by a bunch of kleptocrat).
What are we stand a chance to survive in future without all these?
• LET IT BE?!!!
p/s:
• KAYU BALAK, SABAH/SARAWAK no?…
Good to see Uncle Lim having good holiday in Perhentian Island… i saw it in Facebook and i saw in Harakah Newspaper that you also went to visit Ustaz Hadi at his house in Marang. To be honest with you, i’m very happy to see that… at least what i read in Utusan Malaysia is not true… Happy to see DAP and PAS still a good friend and i really hope this will everlast forever… sedangkan lidah lagi tergigit…
anyway .. i am also happy to see you guys having a good holiday in Malaysia just like me and other local people. Not like BN and Umno MPs… having a total luxury holiday overseas. all the best Uncle Lim
I have been in Pulau Perhentian as well. The place is so clean ! Hope Malaysia politic as clean as the island.
The tsunami coming, that wifeejane talks of in posting yesterday at 18: 56.36 above may be first a financial/economic Maelstrom, such that this country has never seen before, that makes the Currency crisis of 1997 a walk in the park!
With banks in developed countries distressed, there is a break in credit cycle that vis-à-vis interbank markets in which banks become distrustful of lending to other banks unless at high cost, will impact on banking institutions.
Already banks here have tightened credit, slowing down, withdrawing and putting on hold or withdrawn for projects, questions loom how this would depress the markets, equities & commodities and the housing/construction industry, one of the main economic pillars, whether foreclosures will spread against the backdrop of spiraling inflation…
[Yet one of our main financial institutions – Maybank – is ‘gungho’ to acquire Bank International Indonesia (BII) for RM8.3 billion (that Bank Negara has reservations of the price). When the crisis hits in full force we also don’t know whether Maybank’s due diligence can capture accurately the potential extent to which BII’s loan assets may deteriorate by sudden mushrooming non performing loans!]
The question is how it will impact politically on the ruling parties, warlords and their cronies when their projects stall, assets in markets as well as various sectors of economy including banking, get deflated, and how the government, already beleaguered by weak leadership and factionalism, could manage these challenges vis-à-vis the ordinary Malaysian’s rising discontent and hardship, and how the Pakatan Rakyat will leverage against this backdrop.
Uncle Kit Siang,
I think the political scenes in the country is becoming more exciting by the day. After the Pulau Perhentian holidays, you’ll be thoroughly recharged and can fully concentrate on correcting the wrongs of the BN government in the Dewan Rakyat. How about YB Karpal Singh? Has he come to P. Perhentian with you. He is my MP and I’m concerned about his health.
By the way, you should have asked Guan Eng come along too. He is a workaholic CM and should take a well-deserved rest. I hear people here in Penang saying he also works on Sundays, sometimes until midnight!
/// # Jeffrey Says:
Yesterday at 17: 17.49
“The country is entering a phase of a prolonged political stalemate, with NO sign of light at end of tunnel.” ///
Jeff, I will anytime prefer that than seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Knowing UMNO, the light is likely to be from the headlights of an incoming train – better run for your life!!!
;)
This suggests that the bets are on BN triumphing by hook or by crook at the end of the day.
Dear YB
Whilst the climate over Pulau Perhentian has changed more importantly the political climate in our beloved Malaysia too has changed for the better.
We pray that it will continue to change for the better and that the crooks, corrupt people, the racists, religious bigots & discriminators, the political slaves, beggars & mandores will all be swept away soon in a second Tsunami.
Give all praises to the Almighty for it is only HE who works in mysterious ways with all Grace, Mercy & Fairness.
YB LKS,
It is not “maybe because of climate change” , it is BECAUSE of disaster started by greedy businessmen , supported by greedier MPs and Aduns that caused damage to the climate here. You see the consequence now on land, sea and air. Soon it will appear in our neighborhood with many sick faces !. Please have some concern for Mother Nature when you people take over.
