Will 4 MCA Ministers resign en masse if Anwar arrested under ISA?

On Tuesday, the MCA Central Committee called for “a comprehensive review of the Internal Security Act (ISA) so that it will apply strictly to cases relating to terrorism and subversive elements”.

Are the four MCA Ministers prepared to take the lead in the Cabinet to make it very clear that any ISA arrest of Parliamentary Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will result in their mass resignation?

This is because the detention of Anwar Ibrahim under the ISA seems to be on the cards after the uncharacteristically belligerent accusation by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Wednesday that Anwar is a threat to the national security and economy who wanted to “destroy the country and exploit the people’s trust and tarnish the country’s image abroad”, followed by equally truculent statements against Anwar by Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar in the past few days.

Are the MCA Ministers and leaders going to make it very clear to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister that the deepening multiple crisis of confidence in the past six months since the first political tsunami on March 8 will take drastic turn for the worse as nobody in his right senses would believe that Anwar should be detained under the ISA?

It is regrettable that not a single MCA Minister or MP had attended the inaugural meeting to form the “Free Teresa Kok” Parliamentary Caucus last Wednesday.

Are the MCA Ministers and MPs prepared to support the enlargement of the Parliamentary Caucus to a “Free RPK, Hindraf 5 and all ISA detainees” Parliamentary Caucus now that Teresa has been released from ISA after a seven-day detention?

Furthermore, are the MCA MPs prepared to support an all-party parliamentary motion in Parliament to deplore the ISA detention of a MP when Parliament reconvenes on Oct. 13 and to call for the repeal of the ISA as an important measure to end the deepening multiple crisis of confidence afflicting Malaysia in the past six months?

  1. Would any BN MP resign (and not just MCA MPs) if Anwar is arrested under ISA as a matter of principle like what Zaid Ibrahim did. People who live on” privileges and discretionary powers” would be more than happy that Anwar is silenced and put away for good. They are weighing what would be the repercussions for them and the country if such a step is taken and that is what is stopping them from carrying it out at the moment.

  2. If UMNO makes the police report, that is expected ,but MCA?IF indeed the MCA operatives makes the police, the only wise thing for YB Lim to do is publicly expose the culprit and nailed MCA to the coffin once and for all to show that they and Umno are placing the baits for the opposition to take the bite.As a saying that MCA is willing to sell their mother away for the sake of money and power.
It is not wrong to label MCA as running dog, traitor to their once race and hope all the Chinese open their big eye to see.

  3. Uncle, as a layman I dont how you do it but could you lobby to get a bill pass that any politician not only opposition who utter irresponsible remarks could be subjected to ISA detention.(if ISA couldnt be abolished at all)? Bodohwi is senile to said Anwar is a threat ..and this could be an excuse to arrest Anwar isnt it? With this bill pass, at least these clowns could remembered to shut their bloody big mouth too!

  4. It beggars belief that despite so many parties, governmental and opposition, clamouring for an end to the ISA, UMNO simply continues to implement the ISA without batting an eyelid. Just goes to show that UMNO is simply running the show without heeding the other BN parties, and doesn’t care a hoot about what everyone else in the world thinks, including the rakyat that it was elected into office to serve. MCA, MIC, and Gerakan, of course, are simply paper tigers, without any teeth. When will these parties ever learn to quit BN? Perhaps they have been offered too many enticing incentives not to quit…

  5. Through the years I have found that most (if not all MCA leaders) are actually the scums of their community. They have no principles nor morality, only personal interests.
There are countless example of how they sold out on their community for the sake of preserving perks and power that come with being in BN.
Technically, MCA IS THE GOVERNMENT. Yet, it has to plead with UMNO on the ISA and other matters. Beggars. Pathetic.

  6. No lah they won’t resign.

They’re only making noise about ISA because they fear MCA’s traditional supporters (already diminished) will be further disaffected and alienated by the growing perception of MCA leaders’ subservience to UMNO’s hegemony and abuse of ISA, thereby switching their support to available substitute(s) found in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties.

Now Anwar is a man who melds and welds disparate opposition groups together into a viable effective front (PR) to deprive BN the 2/3 parliamentary majority on March 8th election with every promise to take the BN out altogether by crossovers in due course.

This means that if Anwar were neutralised by the ISA, their expectation is that PR will have lost the main person that glues its disparate parts toegther and hence will no longer remain viable to (1) present an available substitute to receive them as political defectors should they incur UMNO’s displeasure by posturing further to oppose the ISA against UMNO’s wishes nor (2) can PR continue to pose a threat to MCA remaining within BN and playing their traditional expected subservient role to UMNO.

So to the question, “Will 4 MCA Ministers resign en masse if Anwar arrested under ISA?” – the answer is highly unlikely, it being actually quite the opposite case – that they will more likely resign whether over ISA or other issues if Anwar were not neutralised and arrested under ISA but continues to remain a clear and present danger to BN’s survival by constantly attempting to poach sufficient defections to effect a fall of the BN government and reminding them about such a fall all the time.

  7. Its quite clear what the MCA game plan is going forward. They will play up the politics in public but in private they won’t lead. They are not going to stand in between UMNO and their constituent but they will be there to take credit when UMNO capitulate and if UMNO vent their anger at them, they will just keep quiet unless its public.

Its a fine thin line to walk and eventually it will break.

  8. All component parties having an alliance with UMNO are nothing but traitors to the Malaysian public. If Zaid as a minister can resign, the rest have no morality left. Using ISA on Anwar will only provide a backlash from the international community. I hope UMNO does not go so low as to destroy the country to keep itself in power. As for the rest of the BN parties, they are taking a “hara-kiri” path.

  9. Dear All,

As we all would agree and know that MCA is desperately trying to woo back the Chinese votes, which they lost in the last election. MCA is also going through their own internal party election and the aspirants are trying very hard to project an image, of being able to stand up against UMNO, to the Chinese people as well. The new aspirants eyeing for the top posts appear to be young and untested against UMNO higher echelon warlords like Muhyiddin, Rais Yatim, Mohd Taib, Ali Rustam and a number of other senior ministers in the Cabinet. Being unable to stand up against these UMNO big wigs would translate into further eroding Chinese confidence on MCA in the near future. Even Chua Jui Meng was less confident that the new sets of MCA aspiring leaders are able to stand shoulder to shoulder and debate constructively and strongly against the UMNO warlords. In other words, Jui Meng felt very strongly that these potentially to be MCA big wigs are no match to the current UMNO leaders due to lack of experience and probably other factors best known to them.

Come to think of it, what Jui Meng and Soi Lek think of the aspiring MCA leaders are commonly shared by quite a huge chunk of Chinese. The apparent lack of fresh lead to rebrand MCA after 308 by the current regime goes to show that they are at wits-end of finding or coming up with new ideas to recoup the Chinese votes, at least as of now.

It is of course, out of our minds, if we are to agree that MCA Ministers will leave BN or resign should Anwar is arrested under ISA. Anwar is the source that they lost a huge chunk of the Chinese votes and it doesn’t make sense if they are to do something very abnormal for the person who was largely responsible for their current fate.

  10. The mindset of MCA’s power brokers/warlords is not unlike those power brokers and warlords within UMNO, inspired by TDM’s thesis that if Pak Lah remains long enough even up to 2010, the perception of his weak leadership will be strong catalyst to foment sufficient crossovers to realise Anwar’s ambition and PR’s Cause of displacing BN from the throne….That is why there is this urgency to pressure the PM to retire earlier to preempt the BN being booted out prematurely and with it all of them before next election.

That is why IF I WERE the PM, it will definitely be ON MY CARDS to neutralise Anwar by invoking the ISA, if only to ease the pressure of these power brokers and warlords who otherwise will probably have no beef to me staying a while longer according to the agreed transition plan. That is why further (if hypothetically I were the PM again), I will have to get police/army etc all ready to deal with this card of arresting Anwar, something which may lead to demonstrations, and the need to restore public order by joint cooperation of all the uniformed services.

I agree with YB Kit that “the detention of Anwar Ibrahim under the ISA seems to be on the cards” – and that is also why I also urged Anwar -if he really has the numbers not to pussy foot and prevaricate but to quickly disclose them publicly by whatever means to legitimise his claims because otherwise doubts that he may be making false claims would provide a valid public justification to support an invocation of ISA or proclamation of emergency rule in the interest of “security” and “economy”.

Luckily the PM is (in my sense and perception, which could be of course wrong) a gentler and better person than me, which may be a saving grace for Anwar.

Anwar’s arrest under ISA is greater on the cards in the time BEFORE the last Supreme Council’s meeting in which many showed their true colours and loyalties or disloyalties by openly drawing the long knives to point at the PM but I expect not so much AFTER…..

The difference : In that meeting it showed clearly to the PM that even if he neutralised Anwar by ISA and take the political costs of that action, it will not in any way thwart the power brokers/warlords’ ambitions/plans to sideline and oust him – so that provokes the other question, why should he resort to invoke the ISA against Anwar when it does not change the equation of threat within his own party and he will be ousted any how? There must be another way.

  11. Dear YB Lim,

Will 4 MCA Ministers resign en masse if Anwar arrested under ISA?
    Ans: 100% NO!… no… no…?

    Salute to Zaid Ibrahim!
Disappointed to 4 MCA Ministers and Gerakan!

    NATO “No action, Talk only”!
Salute to you, if 4 MCA Ministers resign to show your strongest disagreement! Or else, direct or indirectly reflection upon either you choose Cabinet Minister(career, $) or rakyat M’sia? Then, please discharge yourself, keep silence, awaiting your apology to me (rakyat M’sia)!

    TQ.
    Warmest regards.

    To MCA vice president,

“Is the MCA Operative who lodged the report triggering Teresa Kok’s ISA arrest a MCA member?”

If the answer is YES, will you apologize to Teresa Kok, YB Lim, rakyat M’sia? What’s the next action against your party member?

  12. A chinese paper reported over the weekend that the call to abolish the ISA has been going on for 20 years.

How could umno describe themselves as the people’s government when they have ignored the people’s call for such a long time? And just in case we, the people, were harbouring any mistaken thought that 20 years is a long wait, the Home Minister saw it necessary to address the possible mistake by proclaiming that the Act is here to stay.

Nevermind if the Act was not abolish, but at least some amendments could have been made to suit the Act to prevailing situations and needs. Afterall the Act was passed 5 decades ago for a specific purpose, i.e. to deal with a situation of emergency which was brought on by communists in the country.

It is definitely preposterous for one to think that the country has been under continuous communist threat all these while, and still is. And isnt it odd to see that those detainees under the Act in the last 20 years or so are not communists at all? In fact a sizeable number of them are politicians, ngo members and journalists who are either in opposition to the umno led government, or have questioned umno in some way.

That they are a threat to umno is obvious. That they are thereby also a threat to the security of the nation requires a liberal application of one’s conjectural skills. And the reason for the recent arrest and detention of 2 well known bloggers, an award wining newspaper journalist and a well respected female opposition member of parliament fell way beyond of the reach of one’s conjectural ability for those arrests and detentions were simply and clearly wrong and unjustifiable.

Maintaining an antiquated Act like the ISA for so long, and actively applying it to circumstances that are far removed from those contemplated by the framers of the Act, and refusing to take accommodative steps in view of electorate’s long overdue demand for abolition are the clearest of indications one could have of a government that is absolutely bent on power presevation.

For a government to exhibit such behaviour, logic tells us that it could be because the ground beneath their feet have lost its firmness. Logic also tells us that a struggling party is also a dangerous party. Perhaps this explains the recent illogical ISA detentions.

  13. No, they will not. This batch of MCA ministers have not been aboard the gravy train long enough to do their thing. While there are good men near the top in the MCA, the few principled ones do not last long for obvious reasons. If these 4 MCA ministers publicly announce they will do a Zaid Ibrahim if Anwar is arrested under the ISA for cynical political reasons, I will salute them. They should stand up and be counted now. We need them to show some backbone.

  14. You think MCA is going to give up its “Magnificent 4” in its quest to abolish the ISA? MCA is going to hang on to these 4 “lousy” ministerial posts perpetually even though knowing very well that these ministerial posts are meant for “dogs” only! Its last and final “ministerial post of significance” – the Minister of Finance position was screwed up by Tan Siew Sin and thereafter, MCA has been given lousy portfolios – Minister of Transport, Minister of Housing and Local Government, Minister of Labour and Minister of Health!

  15. Desperados will do anything to protect their skin, if not to save their lives. If Anwar is still “waiting to strike” then all of us are at the mercy of the present warlords. Anything can happen any time. The nation now needs effective leaders who put into effect what they promise, fast.

  16. MCA is on a propaganda campaign in opposing the ISA.
Eventually, they will be bleating or whimpering, even cowering with their tails between their legs, when UMNO roars or tells them to shut up.

That, gentleman is democracy and equality in BN!

  17. UMNO after failing to make any headway with Sodomy II, even with all the lies, they are now, tempted to silent DSIA by resorting to arrest him under the ISA. No surprise from a bankrupt UMNO-BN administration…notorious for their evil deeds!
MCA, go and fly a kite…so called ‘heroes’ without guts and principles.

  18. Unless BeeNd govt ready to commit suicide and dig their own graveyard!
Otherwise I don’t think BeeNd govt will be fool enough to detain the Opposition Leader DSAI under ISA!
Do you know how much pressure and what will be the consequences if the BeeNd govt do so?!
Therefore the question of whether the 4 MCA Minister will resign if BeeNd govt detain DSAI under ISA doesn’t exist.

On the other hand, what we should pay attention is the Sodomy II case of DSAI!
If the AG successfully transfer the case to High Court, will the High Court detain DSAI without allow for Bail?
What is the Pakatan Rakyat contigency plan if this really happen is the things that we should study. Will this affect the process to table the motion of Non Confidence vote against Bodohwi?

  19. first priority for these four MCA ministers to resign is related to the ‘ahmad ismail racialism remarks’,not DSAI’s detaining under ISA,afterall,it is not happened yet.

Ong T K were so angry with saudara Lim K S related to the Terese ISA detention issue,i didnt see him were so mad when ahmad ismail criticise chinese as jews!

looks like all these BN’s goons are all double- standard creatures!!!!!

HOI PDRM,still looking into ahmad ismail’s case?if no actions taken against him, more and more similar type of UMNO racists will make seditious remarks on non-malays and things will probably running out of control then!Stupid PDRM!

  20. In the end, the MCA, MIC and Gerakan embrace of Umno will prove to be fatal to them.

In the interim, at least one MCA president has been known to make so much money that all of us will marvel as the precocity of his son.

The history of the MCA will once again prove to the world that the greatest enemy of the Chinese is the Chinese. Who said that?

None other than Tan Kah Kee, the one and only acknowledged Overseas Chinese leader in the world so far.

Where is Tan Kah Kee now? His remains lie in Xiamen, Fukien Province.

Why did he say this? Because he discovered, to his dismay, that it was the Koumintang leaders to whose party he stopped donating who told the British colonisers to arrest him.

By that time, he said he had seen the “saviour of China” after travelling to China on a “study trip.”

A Chinese told me that when he met Chairman Mao and Zhou Enlai, he saw them in the caves of Yenan, clothed very poorly, but preparing themselves for their inevitable tryst with destiny.

    Why did I say this?

As long ago as the early 1920s, Mao had met an monk who knew I Ching. The monk had told him that he would struggle for 27 years and hold power for the same period. 2727.

That was why in 1926 he wrote “Snow,” a poem where he compared himself with the previous illustrious emperors of China. For many years, those who never knew about this encounter with the monk called Mao “Big Cannon Mao” or Tua Pow Mao.

  21. and the B-eNd has successfully diverted the LINGAM VIDEO-CLIP SCANDAL’s case from the public!
Still remember the ‘CORRECT,CORRECT,CORRECT’ slogan?more powerful than Pak Tidur’s ‘CEMERLANG,GEMILANG AND TEMPERANG!’

  22. If they resign, the calculated lost is too much to bear. To resign just for Anwar may cause them to lose alot of benefits and money. So why should they do it?
As you can notice, only those (MCA leaders) without goverment posts are talking loudly because they got nothing to lose. Whereas those with posts are to scare to shout for fear of backlash or losing their job.

  23. AND WE ALSO HAVE TO GET CLOSE THE NG CHEE MING NEGARAKUKU’S ISSUE,HE IS INVESTIGATED BY OUR EFFICIENT PDRM AT PRESENT,SO DAMN OBVIOUS THAT ANYBODY NOT FROM B-eNd will be prosecuted even they talk about facts!

  24. When the Mr. Forgetful took over from Tun Hushin Onn, the country went back to stone age from modernization but Singapore went on step ahead to globalization.

Now we are not just one step behind but two steps instead.

    In 1970, the exchange rate was 1: 1.10 but now 1: 2.50.

In Stone age, there was no law but just show of power.

  25. MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other component BN party leaders reputation and integrity are at stake if they only voice out their grievances against the represessive ISA in the press or among their members forum, but remain silent at forums where their vocie is much needed. Unless they learn to stand up and be counted as equal BN partners, they will always remain lap dogs of UMNO. The public are now no more tolerant of the present abuses, total disregard of their freedom of speech and assembly and rampant corruption at all levels of the governmnet spearheaded by UMNO. They won’t tolerate any more manipulation of the voting process and demand free and transparent elections, which is their only salvation from all these misuse and gross abuses for the past 51 years.

  26. Greetings!

Frankly, MCA not more than a team who’s double-tongued as well as stealing the poor in which formed by a group of rich man using business influences. They are Pro-British in the old day and now pro-Be End.

Furthermore, OTK just not more than one who make use of media to create publicity rather than seal things with solution. (Looks at the case of Free Zone from Port Klang)

Thus, they don’t represent all Chinese but just group of cronyisms.

  27. No point by asking the MCA minister to resign. BN will let them go like that…and to replace with its own race. It will become worst whereby no chinese is representing us in the cabinet which I believe many of us, chinese would not want to see.

If PR not able to topple the BN at this moment, please get back to work for people that voted for you all. Provide your best services to all Malaysian.

  28. “Arresting Anwar under ISA would be a huge mistake which may send the economy into a tailspin and topple this regime. I hope the Bodowi govt isn’t so bodoh.”

big mistake – not really. arresting anwar would show aab firm and stern in his action and show the country he is “pantang dicabar”. many ppl sees him lame becoz he’s soft! he should be like his predecessor to flex his muscle. look at past leaders like hitler, stalin, mao and even putin, their ruthlessness and autocratic put the country firmly in control (and progressive too). and many ppl lauded tdm action invoked operasi lalang, though you are not the majority support the move. anwar everyday (or 2 days).

anwar has been harping to topple the gov, isn’t this a nation threat to create unstability ? aab as pm has the prerogative to arrest him for this, like tdm arrest lks and karpal.

  29. Who the hell is Anwar, can Anwar provide money and wealth for the MCA beggers? Hell no. Then what do they get from resigning? Nothing. Anwar arrested under ISA, good for them! No more kacao kacao fellow to block their income.

For them, resign is just stup*d. Anwar get arrested? His and his family’s business, none of their business. They do their job and they get their paid. Our ecomomic is decreasing and inflation is high? Your business!!!

  30. I must be one of the few who think ISA should NOT be abolished simply so that when PR comes to power, it can be used against these useless Syed, Najib, OTK, etc …,

But then I know the PR won’t sink so low …

  31. I Support Abolishment (ISA) of ISA a draconian law that deprives the detainees the human right to be charged in court allowing them an open trial and a chance to defend themselves. There are other ample laws and a legal system to deal with criminals.
    So, say NO to ISA!

  32. The MCA 4 will not resign, they only wait for the barber to step down, and the barber who cuts someone hair, will have his hair cut by somebody, the MCA saloon will close down by itself, when the big tree fell, all the monkeys run away.

  33. MCA can voice their dissatisfaction on the Chinese rights and ISA abolishment and all other issues but can they implement them?, do they have any power to enforce their views?.

The answer is No!. MCA do not have any authority to make any final decisions in BN. All MCA members should ask themself this question: is there any action taken on their protest so far on most major issues that are happening recently.

  34. “There are other ample laws and a legal system to deal with criminals.
    So, say NO to ISA!”

remember tee yam, the underground figure. because the polis and agc is so bodoh, this triad would walk free (and who knows gang wars will be rampant and everyday life) if not because Emergency Ordinance, or isa equivalent arresting ppl without trial. why don u ppl protes on this “simpang renggam” arresting gangsters?! why don u ppl protes isa on terrorist?! who knows if it is isa that there is no suicide bomber in the country! so ungrateful!

  35. The ISA, NEP, etc.etc are like AIDS that UMNO has contracted.

By going to bed with UMNO and even cohabiting with them, MCA, MIC and other BN component parties will be similarly infected and they will be ostracised and rejected by the voters as can be seen on 308.

So their choice is either to help UMNO rid themselves of the AIDs and if they fail, then stop cohabiting with them. Simple.

But not so simple if they cannot resist the temptation of the power and privileges that goes with the association with UMNO. Then principles and integrity flies out the window.

  36. “I Spy” take n the end of mca n bn??? =

Pak Lah is smart and very sly. He is not going to give up the PM to Najib while under pressure. It is a known fact he does not like Najib and only tolerates him . He chose Najib as a DPM because he has dirt on Najib. Do not spend too much time reading into PaK Lah but watch Khairy\’s wheeling and dealing with Anwar. Khairy is throwing the support behind Anwar and to stay relevant. He will not show his hand but have his people support Anwar. In the mean time as soon as Umno is out of power he will consolidate his power in UMNO by instigating a witch hunt. Najib and the others who plotted against Pak Lah will be surrendered to Anwar with evidence to prosecute them in court. These senior UMNO plotters when convicted and will be bar from political office. He will rebuild UMNO and will have UMNO allied with PR has a strategic partner. MCA/MIC/Gerakan and other BN parties will be left high and dry if by this time they have not gone over to PR. Khairy knows once he has made UMNO strong and he can bid for power in PR as a strategic partner. This is the only way for Khairy to survive. Do not write off Khairy. Read the Anwar\’s PR statements that the BN MPs do not necessary need to cross over to support the PR government. This way Khairy keeps UMNO intact and mold into a progressive party in the mold of PKR. UMNO will remain a Bumiputra party but the UMNO constitution will be change to bar racial politics and statements by UMNO members. In 2 or 3 years Khairy will made a bid for PM with the blessing of PR.He will prove that UMNO without the racist will be an asset to PR and the people.

Pak Lah in next few days is going to get the King to call Anwar to show prove that he has the backing of the majority of the MPs. What Pak Lah is saying in the media is a wayang kulit to keep his enemies in UMNO off balance. This is the only way to say his legacy and history will judge him as a man who place the country before himself.
The story or you can call the script continues as I left it with the parting words “More to Come”

As the days get neared to the suppose target day, the haze suddenly stars to clear as the plot / script becomes clearer.

Anwar Ibrahim as say very famously “why wouldn’t Abdullah Badawi want to meet me, He is my friend”. This statement is to assure Abdullah Badawai the he Anwar has not ditched the plan agreed by both of them.

Abdullah Badawi when he says something but means the opposite. He says no Emergency session of Parliament is planed but what he is try to say is that there will be a emergency session of Parliament in the next few days. Abdullah knows that for UMNO to survive, it has to be reformed, getting rid of the self serving UMNO warlords and be in the opposition and reflect on it self. When UMNO is in the opposition, it will be easy to rid the party of the Warlords. Simple reason is to hand them over to the PR government with evidence for prosecution.

Khairy is the Middle and point man between Anwar and Abdullah. Remember when he returned Anwar’s passport personally to Anwar on his release from prison. Khairy knows if he wants to succeed, he must get rid of the obstacles in UMNO. Down the line after 2 to 3 years UMNO in the opposition, UMNO been reformed will be invited by PR to be a partner. Anwar will be PM for another 9 years and when he reaches 70, Khairy will be the PM by virtue of the largest party in PR. These 9 years Khairy will work to polish his image and the public will be grateful that he was instrumental in placing Anwar in power and getting rid of racial politics. He will prove to be an even better PM that Anwar.

Najib, ooh Poor Najib. He has already got a smell on the plot (But too late) and had to call of his visit to the Middle East. Najib knows that Anwar with Abdullah’s backing have sent the letter to the King to seek an audience with the King. Najib is trying to foil the plan. Once Anwar has the audience, Abdullah will have Parliament in session. Najib is no longer the Defense Minister (Abdullah’s master stoke) and can not call on the Armed Forces to effect a coup d-eta. Najib is working hard now to marshal the BN MPs and trying to prevent the defections. All is lost now for Najib. It is too late for him as he has already been checkmate by Khairy. Najib must be wondering about his fate either in exile, prison or in the hangman’s noose.

Syed Hamid has played the dumb Interior minister to the hilt and deserves an Oscar. He has as per plan made UMNO and the government unpopular with the tactic approval of Abdullah / Khairy. When the BN government falls, no pity will be felt for UMNO. Khairy knows he needs to get rid of the 40 to 60 years old warlord if he wants to be PM in 9 years time.

Mahathir, poor Mahathir, he was sucked into the plan unknowingly by Abdullah and Khairy. He made the Government very unpopular when he criticized the Government. Including washing the dirty laundry in the public. He is a has been and would not be of any use now to anybody. He is an old man past his glory days.

Muyuddin is just a stooge of Najib to force Abdullah out as a PM. This is only role and he has no more value except spending time in Prison.

For the other warlords I will come back to them in regards to their fate in my follow up which will be soon and also the role of the bloggers in the rise of Anwar and the defeat of Najib.

  37. Will Pakatan stop their scare-mongering if Anwar is not arrested under ISA!?

ISA does strictly apply to cases relating to terrorism and “subversive elements” (i.e. race and religion disparaging is subversive).

  38. MCA should just shut up like SUPP instead of playing to the gallery by making noise but maintaining a subservient silence in front of their Umno masters.

By keeping quiet at least they acknowledge they have no power in the govt. By making stupid bleating noises behind their master’s back, they are trying to deceive the Chinese community.

Is MCA prepared to send a memorandum to BN Supreme Council, bring it up in Cabinet and Parliament? If not, just shut up!!

  39. It is futile to measure MCA’s leaders (or for that matter other poticians on either side of the fence) in terms of democratic principles and ethics.

This is because politics, like business, is a game, and players within it view it as a game and play by the written and unwritten rules of that game, the only difference being the end of business is primarily profits, whereas politics primarily power, and secondarily profits that arise from power.

Rules in the game may overlap but not necessarily congruent to the rules, ethics and principles outside the game applicable to life in general.

Hence a person may well be principled and forgiving in private or social life but when engaged in the game and its rules will have not hesitation to brutally incarcerate another opponent/player under the ISA.

Those interested in this may research further on “Game Theory”, a study/theory of strategic behavior in “game” situations whether applied in economic, corporate or political affairs.

  40. Take the case of elder stateman Lee Kuan Yew (LKY). Lim joined the PAP in 1954. His popularity rose rapidly and he became the leader of Chinese workers, trade unions and Chinese middle school students in the 1950s.

He was the only rival politician really feared in relation to his charisma and rhetorical skills. In The Singapore Story, Lee Kuan Yew offered ungrudging praise to Lim’s “hypnotic” oratory:
“…a ringing voice that flowed beautifully in his native Hokkien. The girls adored him, especially those in the trade unions. Once he got going after a cold start at the first two meetings, there was tremendous applause every time he spoke. By the end of the campaign, Lim Chin Siong was seen as a charismatic figure and a person to be reckoned with in Singapore politics and, what was of more immediate concern, within the PAP.”

Lim broke off with LKY/PAP. He formed the Barisan Sosialis Party in 17 September 1961. After Singapore’s national referendum which affirmed merger with Malaysia, Lim and many opposition party members were detained under the Internal Security Act by the ruling PAP government via the infamous Operation Coldstore on 2 February 1963, reminiscent of TDM’s Operation lallang. Lim detention was justified on grounds he was communist and it is contrpoversial whether he really was.

Lim was released (ostensibly to study law in UK) on July 28th 1969. The 6 year detention was sufficient to break him : he was depressed and suicidal, and died a broken man of a heart attack on 5 February 1996

LKY thought that had he not been ruthless, had it been the other way around, Lim Chin Siong would have been S’pore PM, and it would be LKY who would have been depressed and suicidal in ISA detention and died a broken man.

  41. I strongly believe that whether a person is deemed a threat to our national security or economy should not be decided upon by any single individual ( Syed Hamid or Abdullah Badawi or Nazib Razak) or a ruling coalition because we have seen how bias it was being used lately against people like an innocent Chinese news reporter; a much respected 3 term Chinese Opposition MP and a much loved Malay blogger.

There should be a “National Security Council” to decide on such matter. This council should comprise of 5 key voting figures of the nation:-
    1) Prime Minister
    2) Opposiyion leader
    3) Chief Judge
    4) Bar President
    5) Chief Police
Our Home Minister should chair a closed door meeting and take a vote. The vote should be unamnimous.

MCA = NATO ( No Action Talk Only).

  42. This is what is at stake, which is why the political game, just like other games, each has its own rules. So are we judging MCA or other politicians (say) UMNO’s politicians invoking ISA by the rules of the game or our own rules in private life???

One of the rule of political games is to get voters’ support and if necessary to deceive them for that support to attain power. So the principles of democratic ethic and trust used by electors/voters/rakyat to evaluate politicians are not necessarily the same as those used by politicians (eg how to manage manipulate perception if necessary by deception) to evaluate the electors/voters/rakyat.

So we can’t judge them by our own standards of what is virtuous or ethical – it’ll be at cross purposes and we’ll be disappointed – it is more realistic to evaluate them by the rules, written or unwritten of their game.

  43. None of the isa ppl in the past 1 year, is any violent ppl, carrying fire arm, bombs, etc, none is terrorist, so isa no applicable. and is wrong for these ppl detention. person using isa (for past 1 year) should be sued.

  44. “person using isa (for past 1 year) should be sued.”

    1) person who label isa detention food as dog food ought to be sued wat ….

    2) person who named “rival” party launched polis report and behind the detention, and yet failed to reveal the “person”‘s name and produce the polis report too ought to be sued wat….

  45. “So are we judging MCA or other politicians (say) UMNO’s politicians invoking ISA by the rules of the game or our own rules in private life???” – Jeffrey

For me, is my own rules in private life. As a Chinese, personally, MCA is a disgrace to the Chinese worldwide, it is so because the top leaders, the movers and shakers in MCA are mostly corrupted, they lied to the people for their own benefits. They are also blind, they said Chinese is better off since merdeka, but this is not what I see on the streets in Malaysia, or between the causeway to Singapore.

  46. Yb,

Sometime you are also a bit off balance in your haste to slap MCA … how do you expect that the lame and limp 4 ministers would get into your trap by just a word challenge in your website??? They are shrewd as far as their futures and career are concerned … they do not have the fighting spirit of Zaid…….

Please forget about MCA…. they are past tense… Pay more attention to PENANG and your son …make sure PENANG is the model state in Malaysia.. Come next election … We see all the blue in the sky …… You have your vision, your dream, …. God have granted to you via your son…. make full use of the God send opportunity to realize your vision and dream by making Penang a show-case at ‘quite a distance par’ with Singapore…..

Please give MCA a chance…. please do not slap them… they are so miserable and struggling to find a foothold….

At the best … when you are free, have a nice family gathering with your grandchild and not forgetting to have a cool kopi kau kau ….. chi piu…. plus a plate of Penang char kiew tiau

  47. What is left of MCA but the four ministerial positions UMNO “pinjam” to them? The only reason why MCA will not leave BN is because they, together with UMNO, cheated Malaysians for their own gains. If UMNO ministers are charged with corruption, they will drag all the MCA ministers with them. As I said before, UMNO and MCA are but corrupt Malays and Chinese. Sama sama!

  48. Frankly if we were to allow UMNO to government Malaysia for another 51 years, what can they achieve for Malaysia that we can be proud of?

Looking at the performance right now, the answer is nothing to shout about.

Looking at the world now, when the population of the Malays turns 70 million in Malaysia, it may become Zimbabwe with inflation rates to the tune of millions. Or it may become another Somalia where their people resort to hijacking sea liners to make a living.

Malaysia is strategically located at the Starits of Malacca which is an ideal breeding ground for pirates.

When pirates attacks are uncontrollable, Ismus of Kra (the thin strip of land joining Thailand and Malaysia) will be opened bypassing the Straits of Malacca.

Than evrybody will be out of job even for pirates. Then we have wiat for “durian runtuh” to survive.

  49. Dear Melurian, I appreciate your feedback and comment.
Where justice is lacking, it is not the laws that is wrong, but humans that fail due to greed, abuse of power and law, and so on.
It is just like saying it is not the money itself but the love (greed) of money that is the root of all evils.
Concerning the ISA equivalent, maybe the gov’t can replace the ISA
    by ATT (Anti Terrorism Act).

  50. There are just MONKEYS (M), CHIMPANZEES (C) and APES (A) left in MCA! Just send them to the zoo to be admired by Rakyat Malaysia and stop them from claiming to represent the Chinese in Malaysia! Whole lot of disgraceful primates!

  51. YB LKS,

If at all SAPP’s Raymond Tan’s “dare” to confront the PM to “thwart” Yong Teck Lee’s ISA detention in June (subject to its truth of course), I think MCA leaders should do more for Malaysian Chinese for the support that MCA is now seeking from.

Let’s see whether this materializes or not or is it just a ploy…….a MCA election ploy to garner support for election into the highest decision making body of the MCA. For all you know, not even a single MCA leader may put his/her head on the chopping block of UMNO. If at all there is, the bark for such a dare will fizzle out after the MCA election……it doesn’t matter anymore as after all you already had you bride home…….what more do you still want to keep your in-laws.

  52. Ong Ka Ting is still in his out dated mode of “championing for the cause of the Chinese” taking the full venom spewed by Mahathir hook, line & sinker. He is the top man of MCA but behaves like a beggar in Barisan National. These current 4 MCA cabinet members are no better. How will MCA ever hope to rid itself off “the running dog of UMNO” & “chicken before UMNO” image??? They are a complete disgrace to all Malaysians!!!!!!

So long as this Mahathir’s “RACIST TREE” is still alive and this racist mindset still divides the people, the day of a Malaysia for all MALAYSIANS will still be a long way away.

  53. I agree with Mr Smith, MCA is the government.

I disagree with Elwin Heng who salue Zaid Ibrahim’s hasty resignation.

Even Teng Chang Khim said Zaid was hasty on AEC last Saturday. I think Zaid was stupid to leave government before he can make a difference. He gave up too soon, no fighting spirit like Uncle Kit. I don’t know if to laugh or cry when Zaid after resigned, asked Badawi to retain him as Senator. I think he has been goaded into resignation by silly people. Now we have no one to improve the judiciary.

For MCA, I hope Ong Tee Keat come in fast as President, with new faces to take over soon. Even though I appreciate Ong Ka Ting helped Teresa Kok to get out from ISA. I saw Teresa Kok thanked MCA on her release from ISA.

Uncle Kit, did you see the video? Its here: http://mylivingwall.com/v3/index.php?option=com_seyret&Itemid=93&task=videodirectlink&id=90

If MCA can get ISA people out, I think it is advantageous for us to keep them in the government.

If you look at SAPP now, they got glory and words only after getting out from BN but result is they are more powerless and useless now.

On the other hand, I was told the Race Relations Act is good to protect non muslims. How true is this?

  54. BELIEVE IT OR NOT? The MCA 4 will not resigned no matter what happened to DSAI, because they knew DSAI will not be arrested under ISA, no reason to arrest him, and MCA 4 knew it very well, that’s why they dared to open their BIG MOUTH, let see tomorrow,
When RPK is free, and the MCA 4 will praised DOLLAH for a job well done, and its business as usual for the upcoming october’s at MCA building, its not the MCA 4 and other leader to be blame, it is the grass roots and members of MCA, they should help all the MALAYSIAN to close down MCA, then the dusts will settle faster and all is happy.

  55. The Limping Duck & The Roast Duck, all are Clans of Donald Duck, I went to SS2, PJ on Sunday with my grand son, he ask me, grandpa, u see, big brown roast duck, and next to the wet market, he said, grandpa, u see, short fatty white duck, oh, my god, its limping duck, its a bad duck, and he said, I will throw my Donald Duck when I go home.,and may be grandpa, we can barbecue the duck infront of our house to make it roast duck. And I realised one day MCA will be a ROAST DUCK.

  56. There is something we know but won’t look it in the face – Gerakan, MCA are those we say, ‘ kick also won’t go.’

UMNO had said, ‘we don’t need Chinese and Indians votes!’ Wasn’t that clear enough that UMNO had scorn for these, knowing very well even if they were chastised publicy – there are still the crumbs to pick that fell off the table, They Won’t Go Away.

Crumbs, crumbs crumbs glorious food. Crumbs like 2 billion over spent in the Port Klang fiasco. See them fight tooth and claw to be the boss in the party.

Have we forgoten that Mahathir once said, ‘yes Malays feast at the table but what fell off the table, Chinese and Indians still can get. .. not verbatim. Check Straight Times archive.

Former president Lim admitted they had to beg, so did Sammy say the same – yet these three hang on to dear life for the crumbs.

What Can We Expect From Them? Truly silly of us to look in their direction if we need support. If they do come in though, they will be a liability in the long run, no doubt about that. If so we must watch them like hawks.

It is very rare to find such people given to selfishness without bounds. A rare breed indeed.

  57. Do you also know that the May 13 incidents, the Chinese were victimized wrongly?

In truth, before 1969, the malays were in despot state yet Malaysia’s economy was vibrant.

Despite the Chinese being more economically prosperous, but in truth they only owned not more than 20% of the nation’s equity.

The bulk of the nation’s wealth went to Britain as the British still controlled most of our country’s wealth, i.e. tin and rubber.

But Umno didn’t tell the malays that. Instead, they told the malays that most wealth are going to the Chinese and therefore, the Chinese are making the malays poor.

Umno didn’t want to tell the malays that it was Umno who agreed for the British to remain in control of Malaysia’s wealth. And that Umno dare not retake the wealth away from the British.

Furthermore, the MCA and MIC didn’t help as well as they too benefited from the anti Chinese and anti malay sentiment.

So, when problems cannot be solved and the malays were openly rebelling against Umno, the easiest escape is to blame the Chinese and innocent Chinese blood was spilled for Umno madness.

  58. Zak says:

“ISA does strictly apply to cases relating to terrorism and “subversive element” (i.e race and religion disparaging is subversive)”

Then shouldnt ISA be used on Umno warlords in the likes of Ahmad Ismail, Kerismuddin, Najib, the racist teacher etc.Why is the ISA used only on dissenting voices , innocent reporter, opposition MPs. Even if ISA is abused, abused it fairly!!!!!!?

  59. YB Kit,
Was wondering what happen to Ahmad Ismail’s follow up case?
Utusan and Toyol’s case? All these cases can piled up day by day and why is it that we hear NOTHING about their follow up investigation report? Pls enlighten us?

We can forget about MCA. All said and done. They don’t even care what’s happening with the country except their own personal survival. Upon forming PKR New Goment, we just remember What MCA is all about, we’ll confined them as Parasite parliah Party and ask them to show Records on Accountability to rakyat and track record, if they even deserve to operate as an Association.

Inspite being a Chinese myself, Im willing to sacrify whatever connection MCA “claimed” to have help me in my business. The fact is Chinese people are getting a raw deal, they became perfect slaves to Umno projects. They are no different from Umno who cheats, steal, and hoodwink the rakyat.I don’t need them, period!!! Im consider fortunate they don’t cheat me and my friends.

Tomorrow is d ‘Big day’, or will it? Continue to pray for Breakthrough and DSAI and PKR March On!!!

  60. swipenter, Ahmad’s case you can take up with UMNO, clearly they blundered on him and continue to pay the price.

dawsheng, when I asked “Will Pakatan stop their scare-mongering if Anwar is not arrested under ISA!?” it was in terms of the instability and confusion he is sowing within the nation and not in the sense of any political party.

But who cares, he’s “got the numbers”, lol!!

  61. ‘Concerning the ISA equivalent, maybe the gov’t can replace the ISA by ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act).’. CSKuah.

Bit of a tall order to hope for I am afraid.ISA was first mooted by the British during the War for the express purpose ofprotecting the state against sabotage by enemies both within and without. It was introduced to Malaya specifically against the communist insurgents. After Independence,UMNO has cometo inherit it, and over the years ISA has been morphed into an instrument to protect her interest in maitaining power.Even the Special Branch has been morphed from its original role of fighting communist insurgents into one of keeping Barisan in power.

  62. “it was in terms of the instability and confusion he is sowing within the nation and not in the sense of any political party.” – Zak

Are you confused Zak? Malaysians no longer that stupid to trust UMNO and BN lah oi!

  63. dawsheng, just as America and Europe do not make up the “international community”, likewise only Chinese and Indians do not make up the Malaysian people. As I said before Pakatan is doomed to failure because it does NOT have the support of most Malays. Pakatan can not rely on 20% Malay support and call inself “representing all Malaysians”. PAS is a token party with negligible seat representation, which I doubt will survive long in a pro-secular opposition.

  64. sama sama duduk satu kapal mah so corrupt Bee N with corrupt MCA will be work hand in hand but i am the taiko so i said u follow or else i fire u. what botak said currently kalau menteri-menteri tak suka letaklah jawatan.

  65. “MCA says no to hasty decision to leave BN”

Putting up petrol price by a hefty 41% overnight is HASTY!

Arresting innocent people under ISA to cause racial tension & fear & social unrest is threat to our national security & economy is HASTY! (and still having the nerve to put the blame on Anwar, shame shame shame!)

Switching Finance & Defence ministerial portfolio is HASTY!

But for MCA to leave BN is LONG LONG LONG LONG OVER DUE lah!

  66. gofortruth,
phucklah increased the petrol price overnight without refering to the cabinet, and now,the new finance minister najis says he has to refer the lowering petrol price issue to the cabinet!the white-hair fello got no comment at all!what the hell are they doing?

this Bolehland is run by a bunch of incompetent datuk-datuk,dato seri-dato-seri and tan sri tansri, very soon even Somali will overtake us!!!

  67. “As I said before Pakatan is doomed to failure because it does NOT have the support of most Malays.” – Zak

If Pakatan failed because it does not have the support of most Malays, then Malaysia is doomed under BN anyway.

  68. “PAS is a token party with negligible seat representation, which I doubt will survive long in a pro-secular opposition.” – Zak

With 3 menteri besar portfolio, how can PAS be a token party in Pakatan? PAS may not survive in a pro-secular government but that’s alright, they rejected UMNO.

  69. Jeffrey,

Your contention that universal standards of human conduct and decency can be suspended just because one is in politics is wrong.

Politics is just another human endeavour just like sports or business. The notion that one can ignore basic principles of human rights and justice for politics is totally untenable and downright uncivilized.

  70. It appears some have strong reasons that the ISA been abolished entirely from our laws.

While some are hesitant to get rid of it

it appears that these stupid fellas thought that being semi supporting it the ridding of the act may pleased their masters.

It appears that in real life these people are living under house supervision , literally living with a bull ring on their noses.

And some of these vocals are doctorate holders, maybe cheated in his papers.

  71. UMNO, MCA, MIC and the rest of the BN monkey component parties are ALL IRRELEVANT!!

I guess people must be real chissed off by the ISA. I saw scribbles on the walls near Kota Raya which read “F*** ISA”!

  72. No lah, they won’t. They are only posturing and playing for time hoping that they can salvage their position by luck, eg the ISA would be used to rope in Anwar and shatter the recent gains of PK.

I am very doubtful that the MCA can have the courage to do this. They have been in bondage for so long that they are at a loss on how to do the right move.

As I have said earlier, the day that pigs can fly, I am prepared to eat crow.

  73. Are the four MCA Ministers prepared to take the lead in the Cabinet to make it very clear that any ISA arrest of Parliamentary Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will result in their mass resignation?
    =================================

    MASS RESIGN MY FOOT!~
Next time if i see those comedian acting on the streets ill belanja them either “telur rebus or telur busuk” for Kodak moment!…

  74. YB Lim,
I don’t think they will quit not because of money but their balls are eaten by the CHICKEN. Don’t forget MCA is Malaysian Chicken Association—-chicken in malay is ayam dan ayam ini adalad ayam yang tak ada sayap.Chicken without wing you all know la…………..

  75. people, umno will not shut down isa for reasons:

to “lawfully” shut down anwar if and when the take-over attempt happens.

the detention of trt (teresa, raja, tan) was a less than veiled warning to all who tries something even remotely funny.

the detention was also to test the waters on reaction, n mca has shown to hv a whimpering back, n an even toothless bite.

  76. there has never been a right time for mca to quit bn, and this is certainly not one either. think of the consequences. if mca n mic remove themselves from the coalition, the country will decent into chaos. think 513. umno would hv nothing to lose because it’ll be pure us versus them. mca is the least favored child, but it is the hanging thread keeping the reigning government party a “multiracial” consideration. don’t give the -fascists the fuel to usher this country into anarchy. it is tough, real tough being the opposition.

  77. MCA are opportunist politicians trying to win praise from the Chinese community. They are good at talking but do not want to back up their talks with concrete actions for fear of offending their “big brother partner” UMNO in BN.

  78. KennyGan,

Your objection/demurrer in posting at 21: 26.05 above
    is entirely understandable.

The ‘game theory’, as applied to politics, is “telling it as it is” an account of standards used in political decisions/behaviour by political players. It is not telling it as “what it ought to be” (from idealistic, inspirational or aspirational view points).

Treating politics as a game with its own rules and standards separate from that when one operates in private outside it also encounters another objection : can a person split his values into separate parts for separate applications depending whether in political or private/other spheres??? It will also severely shake all concepts or foundation of morality when a man can profess strong moral principles at home with family and friends and also at same time excuse himself from these standards in work, whether politics or business on grounds that it has its own rules when the “game” is on – especially work (politics or business), which to an Idealist, such a “Dr Jeykyll and Mr Hyde” dichotomous personality is simply unacceptable, since work should not be treated as a soccer, badminton or card game with separate rules independent of ethics or democratic principles; since it should be a sum total or definition of one’s life’s expression, the mark or ‘legacy’ to the world.

Yes to exceptional people like YB Kit once, politics ought to be a noble profession. However he is not the only politician. What about the rest?

Without this “game theory explanation” how does one explain, for example, MCA or UMNO politicians’ behaviour – or Lim Chin Siong’s incaceration or Tun Mahathir’s actions or even Anwar Ibrahim’s comparing what he did when he was ascending UMNO’s heirarchy to what he is doing now, outside?

  79. dawsheng Says:

    >> If Pakatan failed because it does not have the support of most Malays, then Malaysia is doomed under BN anyway.

Then be it, but I think that the new year will bring new surprises within UMNO in specific and BN in general; the speed of it’s corrective measures and revival will be hastened and they will work harder to bring back the shared sense of .national project’.

    >> With 3 menteri besar portfolio, how can PAS be a token party in Pakatan?

How many seats does PAS hold in parliament?

    >> PAS may not survive in a pro-secular government but that’s alright, they rejected UMNO.

As I said before, UMNO will be history if it falters to rehabilitate; even PAS’ numbers won’t be enough to give it slim majority. If this unlikely even ever takes place, PAS would be better advised to become independent again until a time when it is conducive to see where it’s interests are best served.

    Good day.

  80. Dear Admin,

As mentioned earlier….kindly block out those idiotic UMNOputras b**L carriers from this blog. This donkeys are placed in to create trouble so that someone ended saying something that’s going to get this blog in problem and who knows…you might join RPK

For those who are going to argue that this is freedom of speach and we must allow all this freedom (even though this donkeys don’t mind eating the RM 5.80 dog food feed by Botak guy)…well….I would only say….tell that to RPK and others about freedom of speach….

I don’t know where ZAK got his figures from but I can say for sure from the recent PP by elections the figure is much much higher. If you add all the Malay MPs in Parliament today the figure is also higher than post 2004.

By the way, PAS has 24 (25 if u count the independent who stood on a PAS ticket) seats. That’s a respectable 30% of total Pakatan seats in Parliament. Negligible? You tell me.

  82. m.hwang Says:

    >> but I can say for sure from the recent PP by elections the figure is much much higher.

PP is NOT a microcosm of Malaysia! PP was also an anti-BN seat so it’s loss is not surprising. What is surprising how PP has fooled you into believing that it represents 26 million people of Malaysia, lol.

    >> By the way, PAS has 24 (25 if u count the independent who stood on a PAS ticket) seats. That’s a respectable 30% of total Pakatan seats in Parliament. Negligible? You tell me.

My point exactly, if MCA and other large component parties leave BN, PAS can not give BN the majority them need to stay in power. Likewise, as I mentioned in many of my previous posts, PAS is the lynchpin in Pakatan, already there are 2 camps within PAS (pro and anti-Anwar); where such a fragile coalition that is glued together by bubble gum is going to end up is anyone’s guess. My guess is probably get stuck to a gum board in B.Bintang.
