The uncharacteristically stern and harsh allegation by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday that the Parliamentary Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a threat to the national security and economy who wanted to “destroy the country and exploit the people’s trust and tarnish the country’s image abroad” had sparked speculation that the stage is being set for a Operation Lalang 2 crackdown and Anwar’s arrest under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
All right-thinking Malaysians must deplore in the strongest terms the veiled threat by Abdullah that Anwar would be arbitrarily and undemocratically silenced as the allegation that Anwar is a threat to national security and economy is a most ludicrous and preposterous one.
I have been twice detained under the ISA, once in 1969 and the second time in 1987, becoming the guest of His Majesty’s Government for a total of 35 months – and on both occasions, I was accused of being “a threat to national security”!
All the 16 DAP MPs and leaders detained in the 1987 Operation Lalang dragnet under the ISA were all accused of being threats to national security – but these are all baseless catch-all allegations just to justify the abuse of the ISA to silence critics and dissent.
We were threats to the political security of the Barisan Nasional leaders but it is the democratic and citizenship right of every Malaysian to challenge the political credibility, legitimacy and authority of the ruling government through the democratic process or we should not claim that Malaysia practises parliamentary democracy.
Such democratic challenges do not become threats to national security just because those in power are in fear of losing the perks of office and power.
Anwar Ibrahim can be accused of posing a grave threat to the political security of Abdullah and the other Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders with his “916 sky-change” plan, but he cannot under any stretch of imagination be accused of being a threat to national security and economy.
Abdullah should not prop up his political life by resorting to the abuse of the ISA which had been enacted to deal with subversion or organised violence.
The toppling of the Barisan Nasional national government by getting the allegiance of the majority of the 222 MPs in Parliament to support a Pakatan Rakyat federal government is neither “subversion” nor “organised violence” intended in the Preamble of the ISA enacted 48 years ago in 1960.
In fact, the toppling of the government-of-the-day is part and parcel of the democratic process if the government-of-the-day loses support of the majority of the elected MPs, resulting in a change of government.
In first-word Parliaments and developed nations, change of government resulting from the withdrawal of support by the majority of MPs is a common occurrence, which is accepted and transacted without any threat of chaos or disorder with all political leaders participating peacefully in an orderly transition of power.
Malaysia is experiencing the possible change of federal government for the first time in the nation’s 51-year history, as this has never happened in Malaysia before.
This does not mean that any change of federal power should not be conducted in a democratic, orderly and peaceful manner.
Since he became Prime Minister, Abdullah has been talking about his dream of Malaysia shedding its “First-World Infrastructure, Third-World Mentality” malaise to join the ranks of first-world developed nations.
Malaysia is presently undergoing a critical test whether the nation can become a first-world developed nation where democratic change of government at the national level is accepted as an integral part of the democratic process as in developed countries in the West.
This is why Abdullah should make a public statement that if the Barisan Nasional government loses majority support and Anwar can get the support of the majority of the 222 MPs, he will gracefully, orderly, peacefully and democratically effect a transition of power for a new federal government to come into being.
This is also why Abdullah should make a categorical public assurance that the ISA will not be used to silence and arrest Anwar whether to foil the “916 sky-change” plan to replace the Barisan Nasional government with a new Pakatan Rakyat government or on the preposterous and baseless ground of being a “threat to national security and economy”.
(Media Conference Statement at the Perak Mentri Besar’s Office, Ipoh on Thursday, 18th September 2008 at 12 noon)
“All right-thinking Malaysians must deplore in the strongest terms the veiled threat by Abdullah..”
Veiled threat? That is an open threat Uncle Kit, all right-thinking Malaysians can see that.
Abdullah is desperate and insane. There is a limit to madness. Ask him to look at Japan. See how they love their country when they step down as true patriots when they have lost support.
YB Kit,
Looking at BN’s past track record, invoking ISA to silence opponents is their Standard Operationg Procedure.
I know DSAI is at risk, you are probably at risk. If you guys are “temporary inconvenience” please make sure you have PAS’s Tuk Guru Nik Aziz (TGNA) as your spoke person and plan executor.
I have a feeling AAB and Goons will never touch TGNA (or risk open revolt even among UMNO) and he is your most formidable ally at this crucial juncture.
Godspeed and please do not brush aside my comments.
Leaders should be prepare to sacrifices their power for the love of their country like Japan, Thailand-Samak, even the great president of pakistan Musharraf. Hope our leaders have the rakyat first in their mind.
Dear YB LKS,
With the present Political deadlock turning dangerous & ugly, let us again focus on the need to reduce BN’s majority.
Already the BN’s self-destruct mechanism is in action.
More defections will be coming & they should all consider forming the 3rd Front with SAPP taking the lead.
PR only need to focus & hang on to its present numbers.
Let the neutral 3rd Front be the “King maker” with the reduced BN majority.
Devine Intervention will ensure the “Headache” will be on the Powers-that-be with the neutral 3rd Front.
With this, the “Morality” issue can be resolved and any coalition thereafter with PR can be considered to overcome the “Deadlock”.
The ideal thought of calling for another election will not materialise with the “Powers-that-be in its present desperate predicament.
Ang Sang Su yi has been under house arrest by the Myanmar warlords for the past decade for winning the general election in the 1990s, and eligble to take over the government and hence a threat to national security to Myanmar, wholly owned by the warlords.
Anwar is the opposition leader and is likely to have, or has already acquired the support of more than half the MPs in the house, and thus is eligible to take over the governemnt, pending appropriate procedures of power transfer has been said to be a threat to national security. ISA could remove Anwar and render him a worse situation than a house arrest.
The situations are similar between the two countries. Is Malaysia following the footsteps of Myanmar?
Aiya…UMNO is in session now…whats the bet MM is going to be back….senile as he is he might just be back in action and the 1st agenda on his list is AI under ISA…
Worst case scenario, YB….AAB resigns and lets Najib on. BN will never let PR go onboard. They cannot loose ‘face’ and loose their hold on the POWER. Najib then will struggle…as he is always doing and worst now as the strings attached to him is more than before.
BN will drive Malaysia to one of its worst economical downturn. We the rakyat can only sit and watch what these goons are doing. If we say anything we also be ISA-ed!!!
Bodohwi and gang are living in an imaginary world of their own, thinking they have the license to do anything they want to keep in power. 007, double O 7, My name is umno, license to do anything to stay in power.
Blood-Suckers
GE 13 – No matter what, we must ensure that racist umno bn do not regain the power like they had for the past fifty one years.
What Kit Siang said is exactly true, ISA is created by UMNO to Silence Critics from opposition or any individual who managed to expose the truth of UMNO.
Kit Siang has been sent twice to ISA as accused that he is a threat to national security.
Every one knows that Kit Siang is not a threat to National security but UMNO’s security as Malaysian government.
ISA is only used in a communist or dictatorial government and not a democratic country. Ahmad Ismail himself said that he is innocent before being proven guilty and the news has sentenced him guilty before a fair trial.
What fair trial did the ISA victims get???????.
My bet is that he will arrest all opposition leaders under ISA. This will cause a people’s revolt which will be squashed by the military. That’s why he has the MOD now.
Why can’t DSAI go straight to the Agung?
What game is he playing?
Unless he has only the verbal commitment from the bn mp’s who would want to vote by a secret ballot in Parliament.
However, there’s the ISA thingy hanging over DSAI’s head…
Of course he won’t give public assurance. As someone said here, the ISA is Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for maintenance of power. Since when has this norm changed? Also self preservation, personal or ruling group and all cronies. If you belong to such a group would you give up power to the next group that once ensconced in power will investigate and jail you and your friends?
There are only two broad calculations that have to be weighed in relation to applyimng that SOP:
1. that Anwar has independently come out forthwith to prove his claims of 31 kataks; if fails or prevaricates in this, an adverse inference will be drawn against him for recklessly making false claims that causes uncertainty, heedless of the negative effects on investors and businessmen, ie the nation’s economy – making him a fit and proper target for justifying use of SOP;
2. adverse effect of arresting him, whether (a) security forces can contain backlash and whether public disorder will spread (b) international backlash and more important (c) whether Bursa Malaysia will crash further, and all values, wealth comprised in stocks of government or political or BN parties’ linked counters will be wiped out – waiting for foreigners to pick up and fire sale price.
No assurance esp when warning already given along lines of threat to sercurity and economy. The only calculations bearing on equation are along lines 1 and 2.
Who hastily put up the petrol price by a hefty 41% overnight and caused a massive run away inflation in the country that has rocked our national economy? NOT ANWAR!
Who hastily invoked ISA & arrested a news reporter on the ‘most childish’ ground of ensuring her personal safety and rocked our national security? NOT ANWAR!
Who hastily arrested the Selangor state government personnel who is in charge of Investment Trade & Industry portfolio under the same ISA with unestablished accusations and frigthened away foreign investors and rocked our national wealth & stock market? NOT ANWAR!
It was Abdullah Badawi ?Syed Hamid? The police?
I don’t know even know who is actually running the country now!
if teresa is still sitting in isa and p-r and public cannot do anythign about it (except lighting candles in autumn festival), what makes you ppl think that the gov cannot so the same thing to dsai(tomorrow is friday) on the reason of nation stability and “prosperity”. aab said fund managers worry about political instability, the nation fed up with dsai lies, and dsai potentially creating nation dissidents. these would be solid reason (with army behind the pm) to put dsai in isa….. and why must aab would layan isa-to-be ex-convicted mp emergency parlimen session…
In a modern world today, if you have to keep every citizens mouth shut by using self created unfair Law like ISA to run a government, it is time that you pass the government to a better and acceptable group of people.
UMNO cannot run a government that shuts the mouth of every single citizens in Malaysia.
We do not want a dictatorial government. Freedom of speech is the only thing that differentiate humans from animals and we are not animals.
1. Kick BN out now
2. Take over the Government
3. Surface all corruptions and wrong doings
4. Go for general election within the shortest period possible
Take over with dignity and pride. Lets Rakyat decide.
just tangkap and put him in kamunting for good, the country is saved then …..
and aab will be hailed “bapa keamanan malaysia”, with sejarah 2008, pm aab berjaya menangkis rusuhan terbesar yang bakal meragut beribu nyawa”, just like bapa syed albar failed to do in 1960s (if only razak tangkap gerakan and dap in 1969 before rusuhan, there wouldn’t be any civil bloodshed in sejarah malaysia)……
take cue of sgpura how they put chia thye poh and lim chin siong in sentosa, at the end sgpura prospered and went on becoming first world wat …..
Anwar is playing high stakes almost to the point of courting ISA.
Nothing is worse than admitting that he made false claims of having the 31 crossovers (assuming that’s the case) because he will be tossed into oblivion having to face Sodomy II charges which maybe are worse than ISA. However if ISA is used, then he becomes an icon & political matryr for the great Cause of Malaysian Democracy which his BN detractors can never thereafter prove he had made false claims and never had the 31 defectors in the first place. His detractors will then carry the blame that they use unfair ISA to stamp out the flowering Malaysian democracy held by promise of 31 defectors not given a chance to surface, and hopefully generate a further wave and storm of public and national sympathy to put the BN out, as a matter of course.
BN did anything , dont need to give responsibility or reason to public. arrest Anwar is not difficult. I bet Anwar wil arrest by coming days or hours later or mid night tonight?
Anwar is now calling for a vote of no confidence in Parliament. Whether it is a vote of no confidence in Badawi or his entire BN administration is still unclear, but either way, he has upped the stakes. Now everyone will be saying that if Badawi chickens out of allowing a vote of no confidence, then it should be true that Anwar has enough support to form the next government.
Dear YB Lim,
Can someone in Putrajaya go to see Abdullah and tell him that, we the RAKYAT can no longer take him as our PM.
Secondly, pls convey my salam to Abdullah Badawi and tell him that I say his an Idiot. Op sorry, he’s double idiot.

date 16 sept. already make all malaysian disappointed.
now want keep another emptty promise say not later than tuesday want to have emergency parliment session to kick ABB out ?
please la…dont cakap besar la !
If we can go back to the future, Badawi should first detain himself under the ISA for being a threat to national security and economy because if he does it to Anwar, the political and economic backlash would be disastrous for our country.

Why you so dopid one melurian?
Yes, but is AAB the same substance as LKY?
Have you seen the credentials of our ministerial line up compared with that of Singapore?
Some of our minister can even conceptualize an idea to put it to practice. So much for being a leader. What they can do is to make noise in the parliment.
You only show how a cook put the curry into the plate, did you see how the cook prepared the curry?

YB Kit,
Bodohwi did not make a veiled threat. He has said it very clearly over TV news last night that Anwar Ibrahim is a threat to national security and economy in no uncertain terms. To the listener it can’t be any clearer.Whether his accusation is baseless and preposterous or evidence-based is immaterial as far as he is concerned.HE HOLDS THAT BIG STICK AND IT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT.
This is what counts!
As for now, i only see the Pakatan had Unity Power above all. The BN cronies has their clans-leader, each are trying to strives their own way to the top to reach for the GOLD medal.
In order to strengthen their position, these opportunist has to buy their way to the top was their main fall. By now they should all realise most their own kind would starts berserk each other even on allies like AHMAD ISMAIL vs Gerakan KTK(victim?) lol.
The consensus are clear, PM/DPM cronies are defiance agains the meeting. Behaving absolute self conceit and deluded the mainstream media by calling for false alarm.
Is this the pledge of BN’ed vowed as “Best interest of the country and the people” or “Best interest of the their evil regime and the cronies?”…
Like I said before, if the worst do come true, Pakatan must let TGNA be the spoke person. He is too much in the background within the Pakatan coalition IMHO.

In which categories of MALAY do you belongs?…
“THE MALAYSIAN MALAY” by Dr Syed Alwi of Singapore.
http://blog.global6.net/yati/index.php?frontpage
“No one owes Malaysian Malays a living. Let me assure you that should Malaysia fail – the Malaysian Malay will suffer enormously. And rightly so. After all they have been pampered with all sorts of goodies over the years.”
I think the call for the Emergency debate in Parliament will prove to the world and Malaysians who is bluffing.
The only problem is that if the debate is held, I am sure Anwar will convince a few more fence-sitters to come aboard his Pakatan.
Maybe the police will pick him up under ISA as they heard his life is also under threat?
If the PM genuinely believes Anwar is bluffing, then call the bluff, the way to it is (1) not to use the ISA (because that would only make him political matryr without opportunity to expose the bluff, indeed public perception will, on the contrary, be reinforced that he relly had 31 defectors which is why ISA is used) and (2) instead of giving him special emergency parliamentary session, just wait till parliamentary session resumes in October because by then if he still has the 31 kataks with him, as he claims, he has every opportunity to invite them to cross the floor from govt to opposition benches. What is the hurry for the PM to call a special parliamentary session just to test one’s own position? There is no logic in it. If one takes the stand that he is bluffing (as PM has been doing) why dignify the bluff the importance by calling a special parliamentary session to test or expose it, when it can be done all in due course when Parliamentary session resumes in October? The mistake is to invoke the ISA before the Parliamentary session resumes as scheduled in October. Then it cannot be proven that he has been bluffing, and BN would also have fallen straight into Anwar’s grand plan to absolve himself from accountability of making falsew claims and at the same time throwing on the government all consequences of negative public perception that the govt is draconian and repressive in using ISA to suppress a democratic challenge from a greater majority opposition….
What assurance from stupid sleepy PM. He may say OK no arrest on DSAI.In actual fact we all know, the answer is just the opposite of 2 X 5. Since DSAI already mention that we have got the numbers I strongly suggest that we go ahead and seek an audience with DYMM
for the takeover. I really cannot stand anymore when I saw PM on TV last night when he answer on DSAI letter to him.PM challenge
DSAI to reveal the names to him.The names should be given to the DYMM and NOT to him because he is not fit to look at names and he is already halfway to hell.WE DEMAND THAT ALL ISA DETAINEES BE FREED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT DELAYS……………….
Why DSAI has to wait until next Tuesday? Worry that he might detain under ISA prior to the this date.Maybe he should go hiding now.
Bro Kit,
Everyone knows that they have detained Teresa Kok under “fabricated charges” brought on by that “Pendatang” Khir Toyol & that worthless Utusan reporter. No one can do anything about it. Not DSAI, not the PR…NO ONE!
So, do you think that they will not ensure that they stay in Power by arresting DSAI & a few more PR MPs under the ISA?! Who’s going to stop them?
If DSAI really has the support he needs to take over the Federal Govt., then he better seek an audience with our Agong or he’s going to be spending a long time under the ISA!
These guys are now at a point of no return…they either act now or lose everything. What do you think they are going to go for?!
Hj Angus,
You are right. They will say DSAI, LKS, Guan Eng & a few more PR leaders are under “threat”. So the Police (Botak Albar will deny knowledge) will have to act fast to ensure their safety by locking them under the ISA for a few years!
“No one owes Malaysian Malays a living. Let me assure you that should Malaysia fail – the Malaysian Malay will suffer enormously. And rightly so. After all they have been pampered with all sorts of goodies over the years.”
this is blasphemous, the british (you ppl also proud speaking their language) had brought in enormous amount of immigrants which is why the bumi has been sidelined, and the british with wisdom (involved 2 world wars, and cold war and colonized so many countries) has foreseen the importance of “special privilege” to ensure that the bumi stays “relevant” in their own country. otherwise malaysia as new country will turn into south africa where the whites control the country with the “native” got no say. and look at thailand how thaksin screwed the country. try to remove that “privilege”, malaysia will even worse than today! just look at today’s universities and skools. without those quotas (and matriculation), ask yrself honestly if bumi got chance to fill up the seats where those bumi usually comes from kampung background where there’s no fair education. “No one owes Malaysian Malays a living.” But it is gov prime “responsibiliy” to uplift their standard of living……
I think the call for the Emergency debate in Parliament will prove to the world and Malaysians who is bluffing.

http://malaysiawatch3.blogspot.com/2008/09/malaysiakini-and-showdown-at-parliament.html
I agree that Badawi will not go for the emergency debate because:
1. He needs time to organise another study tour for “suspect” BN MPs, this time to Harare to study consensus politics.
2. He needs to get rid of Muhyiddin from his cabinet as Muhyiddin has been relaying all sorts of info to Pak Bodoh’s arch enemies within UMNO.
3. He is just getting into a new ministry and he has to start reading “Jane’s Defense Journal” and we all know that when he starts, he can’t stop.
4. Syed Botak is still liasing with the AG and the IGP on what to say to the public as grounds for putting Anwar under the ISA. Evidently the public won’t buy the argument that it will be for Anwar’s own protection.
YB LKS,
Very rare in the history of mankind we come across leaders who will step back and let other better ones lead when the rakyat no longer respect their leadership ability. If one can do that while in power than he/she is the rare one. In M’sia the BN politician stay on despite of losing public respect because it is all about making a comfortable living without working. The new generation will not tolerate a sleepy leader and economy. Morally it is a sin to stay in power when the people are sick and tired of your leadership failures. The current PM is no exceptional in this matter.
Judging by the large amount of personal bodyguards around them at public functions, both pee-amm and dee-pee-amm consider themselves under threat. Will the isa be used on them for their own protection?
Over my DEAD BODY if this corrupt gomem of 51 years would ever “gracefully, orderly, peacefully and democratically effect a transition of power for a new federal government to come into being”. Don’t day drream, Mr Opposition. Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! when the iron is HOT or forever keep your peace! They WILL NEVER BE GRACEFUL, YOU PAKATAN FOOLS!
waste of time to ask for emergency parliament session, PL will never agree to that!
Something I don’t understand, ISA is good! It is to ‘protect’ someone under threat!!!
If our nation’s security and economic is under threat, we should not arrest anyone who make the threat, in fact we need to arrest our nation, in this case, our nation’s leader! ISA should detain all important people such as the botak albar, najis, bodowi, and ah mad!!!
Confusing??? It’s true. Cos MalaysiaBoleh! Botakhead Boleh (think with as* and speak with as*hole!!!
I would say Abdullah is a threat not DSAI.
Since BN is no longer a majority party Abdullah has no reason to cling on to power – that is unconstitutional, illegitimate and presents a threat to the nation. Attempts to use the ISA to prevent leader of the majority party from acceding to his rightful position of power is deemed undemocratic, barbaric and must be condemned in the strongest terms.
Abdullah is obliged to effect a smooth handover of power to leader of the majority party under Malaysian parliamentary democracy.
Good Luck to this country!
IT does not take a ROCKET SCIENCTIST to figure out what is in the minds of desprados, especially corrupts ones in the public office for soooo long. Political decendents will be eliminated at all costs! They tried the sodomy II on him but seems unable to control the situation. What is there to stop them using the ISA? They test case with the 3 arrests judge the public reactions – a rather mild affair, I suppose. Now, they are going for the real FISH, those sitting ducks of PR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
let’s look at our wallets and savings account since exPM gave away his post blindly. from my side, my account is drying FAST and my wallet hardly can afford to buy what i used to before.
so to me, BO AND BN IS THE ACTUAL THREAT TO ME and not DSAI because i think DSAI is my HOPE AND SAVIOUR!! its so disgusting that bo said that DSAI is the real threat to MALAYSIA RAKYAT . I have no doubt he will use ISA because there is no real excuse or evidence to charge DSAI !!
why PK still gv chance?? no black and white kataks?? if bo and its every day day MPs saying they are with bo all the way, take this challenge by anwar once and for all to ‘kill off his political career’ for an emergency parliament session.
we don’t like liars , cowards or stupid arrogant leaders !!!! mayb its bo or mayb its anwar . anyhow, prove to us who is the better-one for the final show-down on or before 0923 to voice and live proud in malaysia !!! if that person retreats or gv excuses for the final show-down , then that is one we WILL NOT VOTE OR SUPPORT FOR LIFE!! ( this drama reminds me of ‘Dallas: who shot JR Ewing!! )
the result might surprise us so be ready!!
my advice to :
1) to bo : do not use ISA as a tool to shield the truth or keep ppl from complaining. when there’s discontent, listen and try to improve the situation. you will get more respect from ppl and live happier
2) to DSAI : don’t talk too temberang or be too nice (depending on the situation) . go hide now and don’t assumed that PM and home ministry won’t go back on their words about no further arrests because they had done it so many times that even i lose count!! its like makan kacang to them!!! )
all in all, be fair and let the FINAL SHOW-DOWN BEGINS 7 MAY THE TRUTHFUL ONE EMERGE AS WINNER !!! maybe we should also do like ‘one in a million’ where we can get involved too!!!
The only person dollah can be compared to in history is Rhodesia’s Ian Smith, who tried to cling to power via a minority government
“Abdullah should give public assurance that Anwar will not be detained under ISA.”
This is the most stupid comment I have ever heard. Why should the PM gives such an assurance? Beside our PM is not the one that decides who should be detained under ISA, why should he gives any such assurance to anybody? There is no neccessity for him to give such an assurance as neither does the PM owe Anwar anything nor they are good friends. The Opposition always demand the Government to do this and that with no real reasons and benefits to the people. What is the whole purpose of doing all this? If the Government found Anwar or anyone to be a threat to national security, then he or she should be detained under ISA with no further questions. Please don’t confuse the public that ISA is being used by Government as weapon on the Opposition only.
Further, if Anwar already have enough MPs to form government, he would have already stormed into the PM’s office to make demand, since he is so desperate to be PM. So it is obvious that he has told lies to all of you who have supported him so fervently. My question is, why does he want to lie? This does not reflect well on this credibility at all so why do you all still want to support him so blindly, knowing that he is bringing you to no where???
Kasim my bisnes partner:
Where is Pak Bodoh taking us ? Somewhere called Kamunting ?
It is obvious that AAB will not call for an emergency Parliamentary Session next week; to vote him out!! Time is running out and Plan B should be activated now.
God Blessed!
I am a political novice, only got interested in the political scene a couple of months ago. Here’ my 2 cents advice to PR:
1) either you wait for next GE (which i assume is rather too late now) and be a good opposition
2) go for the “kill” and win the hearts of the rakyat (again if the majority is thin, the new opposition will give you a hard time) and prepare for an snap GE with a clean lists of voters for a new mandate
3) if all things fails and the EVIL REGIME still rules, street politics is the ONLY choice to bring down the GOMEN!
GOD saves the AGUNG.
Oh no, Abdullah said that he had no plans to use the Internal Security Act “against Anwar or anyone else”. Knowing our PM, does this mean otherwise?
The fact that Abdullah is issuing a veiled threat, and contemplating to use any means, including the ISA to arrest Anwar on the ground that he is a threat to economy and national security confirmed that BN’s house is not in order. If Abdullah has absolute control over his MPs, why is he not behaving like he is?
It is a forgone conclusion that AAB will not last as PM beyond the end of the year even if Anwar does not have the number. It is no point to use ISA on Anwar to make himself at par with Myanmar junta. Eventually it would be TDM’s son who goes straight to the position of PM if UMNO agreed to the system of presidential council, and the president of the council chose to have his son take the place on his behalf.
AAB has tried his level best to move away from the norms of TDM regime, but sadly failed. He shouldn’t forgo the chance to get TDM’s nemesis to avenge the wrong on his behalf. Even though AAB and Anwar belong to different party, the animosity between them would be much less than either of them had against TDM. Yes, both would claim that they forgive but not forget. Nevertheless, the memory would be that much sweeter if they could get even, before TDM reports to a call elsewhere.
AAB should signal to the Speaker to convene an emergency parliamentary session. He can glean a good name for being a respecter of parliamentary democracy. He is sure that his adversaries within UMNO would do him harm. There is no point working to revitalize UMNO which is not synchronized with modern day. If AAB wishes a comeback, talk to KSK and be president of Gerakan. He can then be on the opposite side to Anwar, and perhaps come back in the future.
At this point, Anwar is one step ahead of Abdullah.
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi,
The rakyat have lost all respect to the administration with the recent ISA detention. Your ‘reputation’ plummets to historical low. However, you might be able to turn around the situation by cleaning up the EC and call for re-election before stepping down. If Mr PM was far-sighted, you should look beyond current political turmoil and abolish whatever unfair and oppressive policies that leads to the current situation.
Abdullah, think of China, think of East Germany, think of how the communist era ended in these countries and finally brings great blessing to the people and the country after decades of communist oppressive ruling.
As your time is running out, do make use of the little opportunity left in your hand to bring good not to yourself but to your country and the rakyat.
If Anwar was to be arrested again under ISA again (this might be your short term solution), don’t forget this will be recorded as the most unjust and unfair government intervention in the nation history. People perception will last a life time. The cancerous policies will continue to eat up and destroy the nation in the coming days. You wouldn’t solve the problem.
Think of Gorbachev. Even though he was being cursed and forced to resign as President of Soviet Union, in his premiership he managed to end the cold war and shift country resources to civilian section and began to introduce openness and reform the nation.
With the little time that you left with, do think a little bit further. Stop following TDM footstep by sending everyone into ISA. Time has change. TDM time a lot of things can be covered up but not now in this internet age. You still have a chance to earn a good name by listening to the rakyat and stop using the ISA. Be a gentleman, if it is time to go, just step down gracefully and handover the battalion to a better candidate which might not necessary from your own party.
This country does not belong to BN/UMNO. This country belongs to Rakyat Malaysia. Any rakyat Malaysia with credibility irrespective any party should be allowed to lead this wonderful nation once again.
In Malaysia we have been indoctrinated all the time:
Loyalty to nation = loyalty to the government = loyalty to Umno.
One cannot be loyal to the nation and against the government or Umno at the same time.
If you are against Umno, you are anti-national and a security and national threat.
Umno wants people to be blur-blur (that’s why schools and local public universities must not be allowed to be world-class; must best be under Biro Tata Negara) and is against patriotic people who can think logically and see clearly the distinction between the nation and the government.
How can AAB give public assurance that AI will not be detained under ISA? Self destruct?

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today rejected a call by Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim for am emergency Parliament session to debate a no-confidence motion.
‘I don’t see the need as the Parliament will seat after Ramadan,’ he told reporters after chairing an Umno supreme council meeting at Putra World Trade Centre today.
What I can see from PKR action :-
Step 1 – Meeting with PM and talk about smooth transfer
Step 2 – Intiate a No – confidence motion at Parliment
Step 3 – Meet the King.
Can I says that PKR are doing step by step as above to ensure that if they manage to form the Government; nobody can challenge the legitimate of the formed government because they have utilize all the sources available in constitution before approaching the King to form new government….
Can some legal expert update if my huch is correct.
Asking Abdullah to give an assurance, is just like asking a baby not to cry. He has refused Anwar for a meeting, rejected a call by for a Parliamentary session on a vote of no confidence on the him, will you think, he is about to sit down quietly for the sky to cave in on him? I fear the ISA will be used not only on Anwar but few more opposition leaders will be net in.
Kasim, you have a twisted mind like all your UMNO goons…fair play and the practice of Democracy is way beyond your understanding.
Your handout days will be soon over, so don’t waste your time here and grab what you still can.

Oh no, Abdullah said that he had no plans to use the Internal Security Act “against Anwar or anyone else”. Knowing our PM, does this mean otherwise?
====================================================
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has the legal right to issue the ISA order for arrest without referring to Abdullah – PR please take note!
YB Kit siang,
Be very careful from now on.The consensus views in regards to the statement given by AAB in the national papers that Anwar is a national threat is a strong hint that he(AI) could be in the slammer together with RPK and dear Teresa sooner than you think.
As for you,you beta scoot over to another country the moment you hear adverse news re-ISA.You have been there 2 times already. It is not fair for you to serve time again as you are not as young as you used to be and you have already done ‘national’service to the country so to speak.Let the younger ones do it this time. But it will be a different endind this time around. The corrupt gomen wiil fall due to makkal sakti! The people have spoken!!!!
yhsiew,
I believe any arrest under ISA needs the tacit consent of the PM or at least notice to be given to him due to the political ramifications that would arise.

It is obvious that AAB will not call for an emergency Parliamentary Session next week; to vote him out!! Time is running out and Plan B should be activated now.
God Blessed!
====================================================
chinymin is right. DSAI’s next court hearing is on 24 Sept. There is a chance that he may be transferred to the High Court and get locked up by the police for a period of time until a court decision on his sodomy case is reached.
I think AAB is banking on the probability that DSAI will be locked up by the police and hence he intentionally refused to call for an emergency parliamentary session on 23 Sept next week.
Such threat is a threat to all Malaysians… including those goons in UMNO if they are born from their mother’s womb.
Just came back from Singapore and read an article there which is written by a strategist in the S.Rajaratnam School of International Studies which I hope will be not come true. He mentioned that there are just too much at stake for UMNO for PR to take over the government and therefore the BN have 3 alternatives to stop Anwar from taking over. One is to revoke his bail and arrest him which will make the PR crumble due to his absence. Two they could dissolve Parliament and call for a snap general election which would be risky under the present circustances. Three which is most likely is to have a State of Emergency declared on the grounds that the country is entering a period of prolonged instability and to prevent ethnic strife from blowing open.
Kasim Amat:
Can you make sure we get a free trip to Harare together with the Backbenchers Club in October ? Just lobby Mike Tyson on our behalf.
If bodo meets any of us on the street – would we spit on his shoes or shake his hands?
The slow action of Pakatan Rakyat may lead Anwar to be arrested under ISA and that may be the end of story. Pakatan Rakyat tried to be nice to Abdullah, but it is a waste of time because we know how the guy will react. It is totally hopeless to give Abdullah more time. So act soonest, please
WAKE UP all opposition leaders.
You only REASON with people who are REASONABLE.
With these people who only know how to use ISA on INNOCENT people proof that they are :
1. UNREASONABLE
2. IMMORAL.
3. NO CHARACTER
4. NO CONSCIENCE.
5. NO FEELING
6. NO INTEGRITY
7. EDUCATED BUT NO EDUCATION.
8. UNLAWFUL.
9. …..
So Anwar I need to get to the King ASAP otherwise also MASUK ISA soon

Ya, ya u are korek, korek, korek …
All katak are under 24/7 watch by plain clothes – the moment they are identified, they will disapear for a while to prevent them from appear b4 the agung to confirm their support of PR… see what i mean … police state… KGB, etc
A good suggesting.
If EVER Anwar were to meet Abdullah He should come up with a different list totally different from the actual one. These should contains Khir,…..
The the REAL list should organised them seek audience with the King at the same time
Must act fast…do not have to delay. Do not have to be so nice to them.
before march 8, i could easily ‘cari makan’ every time i meet friends and acquaintances. Now i can even earn an office boy pay. People still talks about blog articles (thanks to kit and gang), people still jump traffic lights, people still park their vehicle as if the whole road belongs to their grandfather, people still swears (some even by the holy book) and people are basically still themselves. The only thing that changes is that we find it harder to earn a living nowadays. Not much could be said for those kidnappers, dvd sellers, ahlongs, robbers, snatch theives.
So we think that the march tsunami did our nation a BIG favor? Now our pockets are feeling a big pinch….see if we can still brave the rain for a raja P ceramah….in the end its MONEY that makes the world goes round.
The the REAL list should organised them seek audience with the King at the same time
sh….., don’t let the botak know, he will create massive jam to the Palace to block the take over.
Even hosewives can see the threat ‘not veiled’ as you mentioned uncle. Clear cut, threat from the PMs mouth !
Talking to friends and neighbours…people are just waiting for the takeover. Even if ‘things’ go wrong during the moment-people are willing to face it. 51 years is enough.Malaysians want TRUE merdeka! So work smart and work fast…….letters to PM does not work ; even we can see that. Get the King to intervene if you have enough defectors ASAP.
And meanwhile….beware of the evil ‘ISA’ -DSAI/Unc.Kit/Pakcik Nik
Do us Malaysians a BIG favour – ACT NOW !!!
bodowi should have enough brains and courage to arrest those who demands his resignation starting from his club members.
Mean while lets convert the numerous ns camps into isa camps
Nomination s are open for post of camp commandant in chief.
relatives of lee will be added adavantage.
I am just so frustrated with the current govt. that I do not have any good thoughts for BeEnd.
It’s a dirty Malaysia and there is only one way to clear the rubbish. Have a new team to manage and clear the mess. Who created the mess? BeEnd.
Do you thing the culprit will admit their wrongdoings and that the country is in a shamble ? Nah … especially from a bunch of bozos.
The call for PL to assure Anwar free from ISA detention ? too far-fetched. Our PM has got a very nice set of ears, unfortunately he is listening to wrong people. Rakyat is crying for democracy and he is hearing cheers for ISA. His flip flop of policy is also too predictable for the worse. What is the quality he possess so strong that he deserve to be our PM ?
Just so pathetic. It’s like when Kings and Emperors lost their thrones, not aware of court affairs because too engrossed with self pleasures.
Nobody (other than politicians ) seems to know what is going to happen to their live tomorrow in Malaysia.
BeEnd … Just read between the lines, Malaysians have had enough of you !!!
Teresa Kok and RPK should be released from ISA and be put on trial in court. I for one would like to see RPK sent to trial but a fair on that is! ………
As for Anwar, he is causing instability to the country! He is talking crap when he is saying that he is not the reason for the economic fall out and instability in the country. If anyone deserves to be ISAed it is Anwar!
I have said so many times, if you are for democracy and for what the rakyat wants, wait for GE13. Obviously Anwar is power hungry and cannot wait. He thinks his 31 frog MPs represent the rakyat. Well the rakyat has spoken in GE12 and the majority wants BN. Who is this 31 frog BN MPs (if indeed there are) compared to the millions of rakyat who has spoken.
Anwar, BN is no angel, but I must say you are turning out to be one devil yourself………..
The power of incumbency is indeed enormous. This is what Malaysians have given to the BN beast for the past 51 years.
Badawi is going for proportionate response. He’s got various tools with him – the judiciary, the police and the AG’s chambers cooked with Sodomy II – as the lightest approach to put Anwar behind bars and denied bail; or the nuclear weapon of ISA.
He’d prefer the soft approach because using ISA will undoubtedly and immediately cause a conflagaration of anti-government protests, not that a denial of bail would do any different, but perhaps won’t trigger as much anger.
Anwar has got limited options.
Go to YDA, BN may refuse to resign on the ground that Anwar’s list is a lie. If Anwar goes to YDA with BN MPs, they will be stopped from entering the palace by special branch folks, police or even the military. Or their families could be held hostage.
Anwar may not even make it to the palace. He could be arrested under ISA to prevent him from meeting the YDA – especially if they can’t deny him bail under Sodomy II.
Whatever it is, this is bound to get ugly unless BN comes to its senses and allow for freedom of association by its MPs. That, perhaps, requires a miracle.
Now is 2008, BeeNd govt should never jump into the gun by detain DSAI under ISA!
They should well aware about the consequences by doing so!
There is so much argument about BN MP’s leaving BN and joining PR; whether it is legal or illegal, acceptable or otherwise, frogging or toading (only joking), honourable or otherwise, betraying or loyal to voters, etc. Just a question: when the whole Gerakan in Penang joined BN one day in history, what do we call the movement? Did they betray the voters back then? Was it honourable? Could they have done a better job outside BN then inside where they had to answer to BN top guns?
Hence, it is better to leave it to the voters to access and decide to accept/reject the BN MP’s joining PR.
My humble 2 cents is why not give the BN MP’s a chance to prove themselves they could perform better in PR?
Abdullah is very unwise in calling Anwar a threat. The obvious reason is here for everyone to see.
His party says he is ineffective and lacks leadership and ability to steer the country from economic turmoil. following that the majority of his own party members have requested him to give way to his deputy. Isn’t this enough to show it’s him and not Anwar?
What Anwar merely did was highlighting his inabilities publicly. That’s all.
@nus…
i do agree with ur point that we shouldn’t mess with the people’s power if PK would be accepting the jump over MP’s, it would effect the morals behind the meaning of election and its constitution.
But we can’t deny after 51years the 5th generation of MP’s, the whole BN’s component had poised to become apportunist and extortionist.
@ Uncle YB LKS and all PK allies & components…
NOW, let us all embrace… I HOPE THE (31) UMNO MP’s HAD THE COURAGE PULL OUT THEIR WISDOM AND RESIGN BOTH THEIR UMNO & MP seats.
Call for pre-election at immediate effect, start campaign represent as new PK candidates by election. In such NOBLE move like Zaid you have nothing to lose, the wisdom and such courage will be adores and supported by the Nation regardless of any race.
WASTE NO TIME awaits BN strengthen their position as they were fragile and weak fighting among themselve for top seats. Do it now or never.
The police in Malaysia are famous for two things. One is arresting the “right” people for wrong things and another protecting wrong people for wrong things.
The righteous Teresa Kok has been victimised while perpetrator Ahmad Ismail has been left to enjoy his luxury.
Who ruins our economy?
1. The big mouth UMNO telling investors off by saying that if they don’t want to come to Malaysia, they can go somewhere else.
2. Investor unfriendly policies of UMNO
3. Discriminatory policies of UMNO
4. Quota systems of UMNO
5. Protection policies of UMNO
6. Corruption culture of UMNO
7. Arrogance of UMNOputeras
8. Self-enrichment of UMNOputeras
9. race-based policies of UMNOputeras
10. Any other degrading qualities of UMNOputeras you can think of
UMNO thinks that the world owes them a living. 51 years of arrogance has made them afloat and think that Malaysia with just a population of 25 million can boast around the world like treating the non-bumis in Malaysia.
Who the hell is UMNOputeras to tell investors what to do. UMNOputeras is just a jaguh kampung.
Do you think they will abide by UMNOpeteras’s rules? The investors will ask UMNOputeras to fly kites.
Now they blame everybody for the fault but themselves.
If they don’t wake up now everybody will suffer when our natural resources run up and the worst affected will be the Malays. Hopefully by then the children and grandchildren of the Malays will curse UMNO for ever.
using the isa on teresa, tan, and rpk is a scare tactic. much like sending mps to taiwan is an insurance policy against crossing over. mps who are or who were making up their minds to cross over would now chicken out, fearing umno will invoke the isa and if pr didn’t materialize to much, the mps r screwed.
It is the Government of the day be blamed with the loss of investor confident and mismangement of the economy for whatever reasons. You can’t blame Datuk Anwar for that. I only solution in sight if the PM arrests the opposition leader and crackdown of other leaders under ISA is for the PMs to immediate crossover to Pakatan and vote for no confidence vote against the PM. There is a strong sign that the leader would abuse the ISA again despite protested by BN component parties as well as opposition parties and the General public. If the MPs have the courage to move as a leader for the sake of the country. Not only MPs from East Malaysia States but those in MCA, MIC and Gerakan should should join in as well if they really fight for freedom and democratic process.
I have clients who are actively seeking jobs outside malaysia. One of them successfully tendered for a soil investigation job in indonesia for a foreign project owner there. And the team of consultants managing the project are mainly foreigners.
He said the standard and professionalism there in general is a lot higher than in malaysia. How could that be? I am a little amazed. But we have British Standards dont we?
And the reason? In indonesia foreign investors are not required to have local indonesian business partners. So those investors simply import into indonesia their first world standards and practices and apply them there in full vigour.
And malaysia? Of course we have cara kita sendiri.
note: I stated somewhere in this blogsite that rahman is kerismudin’s father. It should be hussein instead. My mistake. Sorry.
TDM is the biggest culprit who caused all the crisis in Malaysia.
1. He caused Anwar to be jailed for some flimsy causes.
2. He screwed up and corrupted the Judiciary system
3. He appointed this idiot, Bodowi, to succeed him.
Bodowi is so dumb that he thinks he is a genius. He alone takes care of 4 ministries. He doesn’t realise he is only a religious graduates. He has the largest no. of front bench ministers or gofers in the Commonwealth and he has time to honeymoon around the world. He is so incompetent that a mama store won’t give him a job.
First thing, Anwar should do is when he becomes PM is to hire an expert on corruption, even if he has to go o/seas and look into the corrupt practices of the past PMs and their clonies.
Badawi, are you afraid to meet Anwar? Just said it if you are in damn scary shaking leg.
Remember the boy who cried Wolf! Now we have an old man crying “Harimau”! Would you still give any credit to what AAB utters? Remember the following:-
I will not re-marry – He was soon with Jane and laughing merrily
I will not dissolve parliament tomorrow – Poof! Parliament was dissolved the very next day
I will not increase petrol prices – Next minute, pump prices went up!
I will be PM for all people – He implements laws detrimental to the nation!
So what will “I will not detain Anwar” turn out to be????
