The habeas corpus application to free DAP National Organising Secretary, three-term MP for Seputeh and Selangor Senior Exo for Investment, Trade and Industry Teresa Kok from arbitrary and wrongfully detention under the infamous Internal Security Act (ISA) would be filed at Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex in Kuala Lumpur at 12.30 pm tomorrow.
The application will be filed by Teresa’s lawyers, DAP National Chairman and MP for Bukit Gelugor, Karpal Singh and Central Executive Committee Member and MP for Puchong Gobind Singh Deo.
Let all friends and supporters of democracy and freedom show up at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex tomorrow to demonstrate our support, sympathy and solidarity with Teresa at this hour of trial – both for her and the nation.
A three-prong international-level “Free Teresa Campaign” will be launched in the next few days to secure the support of parliamentarians in ASEAN, the Commonwealth and the World Parliaments for her immediate and unconditional release.
It is no exaggeration to say that public confidence in the Abdullah administration, which had been going south without pause since the March 8 “political tsunami”, has taken a sharp plunge in the past 48 hours since the flagrant and cynical abuses of power in the recent spate of ISA arrests.
Although senior Sin Chew reporter Tan Hoon Cheng has been released after less than 20 hours of ISA detention, while Teresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamaruddin are still under incarceration, Tan’s release has not in any manner mitigated the nation-wide outrage demanding the repeal of the ISA and the punishment of those responsible for such gross excesses of power and abuses of human rights.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said Tan had been detained under the ISA for her personal safety. Hamid deserves to get into the Malaysian Book of Records for coming out with a reason for a government action which is unanimously rejected and laughed at by Malaysians and the world for being “utter bunkum”.
If Tan had been detained under the ISA for her own safety, isn’t Hamid being most irresponsible bordering on being criminal and endangering her life in releasing her after 20 short hours?
Will the Home Minister direct the Penang Police to give Tan 24-hour police protection because of her unique status as the only ISA detainee arrested to protect her safety?
Furthermore, how can other Malaysians avail themselves of the ISA facility to get police protection?
(Speech by at the Candlelight Vigil for ISA detainee DAP MP and Selangor Senior Exco Teresa Kok at her Seputeh service centre, Jalan Kuchai Lama. Kuala Lumpur on Sunday 14th September 2008 at 7pm)
I suggest all Asean countries impose sanctions on Abdullah and Syed Hamid, i.e. disallow them to travel to Asean countries and freeze their assets.
PPIM, Pewaris Lodge Police Reports Against Teresa Kok
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) — The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) and the Islamic NGOs, Heritage Associations, Malay Cultural Organisations and Related Bodies Cooperation Network (Pewaris) Sunday lodged police reports against Selangor state executive councillor Teresa Kok over her alleged act to prohibit the “azan” call to prayer at mosques and surau in Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang and Puchong Jaya.
The reports were made by Pewaris advisor Rahimuddin Md Harun and PPIM Complaints Officer Mohd Nor Imran Yusuf at the Sentul district police headquarters at 11 am.
Rahimuddin told reporters later the police reports were lodged because Kok’s statements could allegedly hurt the feelings of the Muslim community.
“We have made the reports so that the police can carry out the investigations on her because it is feared that the statements can spark racial animosity in Malaysia,” he said.
PPIM secretary-general Datuk Dr Ma’amor Osman said in a statement that PPIM supported the government’s detention of Kok, Malaysia Today blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng under the Internal Security Act (ISA) on Friday. Tan was released Saturday.
“The detentions are proof that the government does not remain silent in matters involving racial sensitivities and the Federal Constitution.
“Matters such as these should be viewed seriously because, if ignored, they could incite hatred in the people, especially the Malays, because their special position has often been disputed by certain quarters,” he said.

These idiot must be charged for making false police reports!
No Malaysian MP will be so stupid to prohibit the “azan” call as Islam is our national religion.

…. see the name tan hoon cheng? as at yesterday, it became an international joke when hamid said that ms tan was ISA-ed to protect her! here, this bimbo supports her ISA-ed!
syed botak hamid was himself yesterday to diffuse the tension. today we have another being himself ..
adoi …. alamak ….
All non-muslim have used to the Azan prayer. The Surau is less than 50 metres away from my house and I don’t even hear the Azan! I have made used to it and sometimes feel weird if I don’t hear it if I wake up around that time!
Why is the ahamd loud mouth not address,
the botak should arrest himself
I am amused by the eerie silence of the newly elected Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Shafie Apdal. What say you sir? How are you going to explain to the Association this gross abuse of power.I suggest that representation should be forwarded to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, after all, Theresa is a member of the Association.
Shafie Apdal,
If you cannot resolve this issue with the government of which you are a part, i suggest that you resign too as a Minister!Failing which you will be an embarrassment to CPA as well as the country!
Cinta Malaysia make very good sense. YB Lim. As a MP as well as Anwar and all the PR MPs, you can make a reprsentation to CPA in London and bypass Shafie Apdal.
Salam sejahtera,
Can we just have the Kinrara mosque committee to come out and speak up so that the truth is madde known to every one!?
This is so preposterous as I truly and firmly believe that we Malaysians have long respected all other religions so there is no reason why such issue of prohibiting the azan call couls have arisen at the first place.
We, the non-Muslims, have for so long lived together peacefully with our Muslim brothers and sisters and have even accepted the azan call to be part and parcel of our lives! How ridiculous, nonsensical and evil it is for someone to make such heinous allegation!!

I am too being used to the Azan- which came from three different direction, as there are 3 nearby Surau’s………… Only my neighbour’s dog seems still not used to it -It barked and wailed when it hears that sound in the morning………. Syed Hamid, you wanna put the dog under ISA detention?
I proposed ALL 3 Chinese press not to Give in to thise bullies!…
EMBRACE, FIGHT BACK WITH VIRTUE AND DIGNITY!
IF I WE’RE THE CEO WILL GIVE FULL SUPPORT AND TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILTY FOR THE REPORT.
Start printing FRONT PAGE as Mohd Khir Toyo and Utusan Malaysia for criminal defamation for slandering baseless report that raise uncertainty among racial harmony!
PPIM and Pewaris,
You are blinded by racial and religious bias by ignominiously ignoring the truth.Have you checked with the Masjid Committee whether Theresa Kok did what you perceived is true from Utusan Malaysia and from the statement of Minister of Home Affairs…not worth mentioning his name.
We also want the 3 show cause letter to the 3 newspapers be withdrawn.
It starts with education..
If our education system was not sooo backward and unrealistic, the current generation would not have difficulties now trying to differentiate between right and wrong, true and false..
To even think that there are our Ministers who even dare to lobby to sit on International committees …
On what moral basis?
How all Malaysian must be wishing their government has such refinement as exhibitted by this three prong approach!
Soon the likes of DAP will be the epitome of moral correctness not just in the region but world wide. Again, this Rajah Brooke has to thank its more hardy cocoon to break out from.
Zaid Ibrahim has threatened to resign if the PM insists on the use of ISA on Teresa and Raja Petra. In other words he wants them released.
Well lets see what happens when he meets sleepy head tomorrow.
Will the PPIM ppl be investigated and punished, if it was found to be making false police report later??
So they must protect Ms Tan HC by taking her to Ipoh and then go back to Bukit Mertajam? after that her life no longer threaten?? Don’t know anybody will buy this explanation?
Teresa—They may take this chance to advenge their displeasure on the “police helicopter rent” matter

this hypotheis is under observation for now.
Zaid ““In this latest episode, we (the Government) have generated an impression of selective prosecution since no action was taken against the person who allegedly uttered seditious remarks.”
here, finally the human is talking.
Theresa Kok’s arrest is male fide. End of story.
To Syed “The Clown” Hamid, show the court prima facie or release Theresa Kok immediately.
Stop using cowardly and draconian law on civilian.
Would all the Governments of the civilized World summon their Malaysia Ambassadors to demand explanation why our model Member of Parliament is being kidnapped by the government. Any good souls and people in position out there act now to help our desperate citizens.
Dear DAP leaders,
I say, don’t just stop here, commence civil suit against that Botak Clown Minister, sue him for RM 10 Million, no make that RM 100Million for false imprisonment & political persecution.
the bukit china was nearly flatten too, and was there any ISA arrests?
all conveniently forgotten, ?
PPIM & Perwaris is another ‘racial’ tool card for BN. They are trying to stir up issues that are non-existent. Just as our Home Minister is imagining all these racial tensions. It was well clearified by the mosque authorities there was no such thing…so, why pursue this allegation by Datuk Botox? Why not focus more on curruption issues that are more important & also the continued slumber in our economy?
The ISA arrests of Ms. Tan & YAB Teresa has failed BN. The rakyat has won another battle. But the war goes on with more propaganda by BN pets, like PPIM & Perwaris.
1st sacrifial goat was Datuk Ahmad Ismail. Now 2nd sacrificial goat is Datuk Botox. Who will be 3rd sacrificial goat? Who will be the next target of controversy by BN?
EVERYONE GIVE ZAID A BIG HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!~

HUG* sry miss that again
YB Lim,
Please include RPK,the HINDRAF 5 and all other ISA detainees too in the campaign. Not to forget M.Manoharan one of the hindraf ISA detainee ,is also an elected member under the DAP ticket.May god give all the detainees the strength and courage. Our prayers are with all of you.
Teresa’s ISA arrest:
* defies human logic (I don’t know about animal logic!)
* defies basic human decency(what ‘beast’ is mauling Teresa!)
* defies the rule of law (what a bunch of UMNO illiterates! Yikes! Syed Hamid is a qualified lawyer?! How the hell did he pass? kopi-O?)
* defies the principle of collective responsibility (it’s untenable; even Ministers cry foul!)
* defies the collective power-sharing arrangement in BN (UMNO sole decision-maker! All other component parties cry foul!)
* defies constitutional rights and freedom enshrined (that’s sacred to the founding fathers!)
*defies the goodwill of a civil society (dictatorship and police state of ‘Animal Farm’)
These 3 ISA arrests are so F*** bad; only an F*** word can describe the shittiness of it all – “F*** F*** (foul, foul-lah)
YAB Teresa won by the highest majority in any constituency on the last GE. Not even PM AAB won by that much. People in Seputeh & Kinrara voted for her. Arresting her under ISA is like arresting all the people who voted for her under ISA as well. She is wakil rakyat. One of the prime role model for all future women politicians in Malaysia. Enough said.
I think most people have missed also the silver lining. Catholics are prepared to sacrifice for the greater good of all especially Teresa. If not she would not be where she is today. She is following in the footsteps of her savior who for the love of his people was prepared to do anything even if it means dying on the cross. People of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are people of the book who share a common bond. So sacrificing for the love of all the people of Malaysia, regardless of race, faith/religion, culture, etc is indeed a fortuitous occasion for Teresa. Her sacrifice will not be in vain but could spell the end of the present undemocratic, self-serving and corrupt regime. May all pray that not only Teresa be freed soon but that Malaysia will once again celebrate another Merdeka where all Malaysians will freed of the tyranny of race and religion and become truly sisters and brothers of a great nation.
What can we say about our brainless Home Minister Syed Hamid.. 1st he said he don’t know about the detention and 2nd he said is for Tan’s own safety. What a joke! the whole world is laughing on us..
Citizens of Malaysia.. think with you heart and soul 1 million times.. do you think you want you children future to lead by such a smart leaders??????
Sigh, malaysia a democratic country?? In actual, it’s worse than communist / socialist.
(Chinese Proverbs):
Gomen can ‘burn’ fire, but normal citizen are not allow to lighting.
All non muslim Malaysians love our muslim brothers and sisters and we respect each other very much. We respect each cultures and religion, in fact we celebrate hari rayas, chinese new year, deepavali, thaipusam, harvest festival and etc together in harmony. This is the beauty of Malaysia.
What I do not understand however is how come the relevant individuals can stoop so low and abuse their own religion at the expense of others merely for their own benefit, personal gain and to safeguard their position!!! How low can one person go???
These are people who we supposedly call leaders!!! This is really beyond comprehension!!!
I call on all Malaysians to pray that this nightmare will be over very soon through a change!!!
at the end, the much awaiting answers for the questions:
Why AHmad Ismail, the person who was came out in front of media, saying those insulting words, behave like gangsters to tear off photos, why he is not being detained? Syed Hamid said police is still investigating? and a big joke by protecting a person under ISA, which let the news and the person picture exposed widely?
why this round Teressa Kok detained under ISA after shortwhile the police report made by those muslim organisations? why police need such a long time to investigate Ahmad Ismail? with many wirness and DPM was there? even if he did not speak those words in Permatang Pauh, his words in the press conference after that is also insulting and creating instability of the multi racial community, and need to be detained under ISA!
why no same treatment? and immediately after the UMNO council announced the suspension of UMNO positions, Ahmad ISmail straight away said HIDUP MELAYU, and said he will not apologize but will accept the punishment, come on, what the hell is stern action of this? and the word HIDUP MELAYU is insulting, did u even hear hear HIDUP CINA, HIDUP INDIA before? Is that means HIDUP MELAYU, MATIKAN CINA dan INDIA?????
Initially the non Malays keep patient and do not want to say anything after disappointed by the Ahmad Ismail is just merely being shown got punished, but this time the fire being sparks after detention of reporter Tan, which she is just reporting the fact and words by Ahmad Ismail, and the person who decided on this ISA detention shd go to jail under ISA, because they also contributed to the unstable conditions of the country.
why our country being led into such stupid ways?
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that sodomy 2, incitement of racial hatred, selective prosecution of victims of the PR under the ISA, are nothing but thinnly viled, desperate measures of a sinking regime. The Khairy gang, the corrupted BN politicans and all the power brokers of UMNO are using every dirty trick in the book to prevent the imminent power transition because they know that when PR and Anwar come on board, they have to run fast with the ill gotten wealth they robbed from the rakyat or die buried in it.
But it is useless. The voters are not stupid. Other than that small group of racist and greedy politician in BN who have robbed the country and will be called to account soon, nobody else has any problem dealing with each other. If there is any friction between the race it is engineered by UMNO with the Mamaks and their running dogs. With this latest ISA selective detention, the people will grow to hate UMNO even more especially the minority groups who by the way consist of more than 40% of the countries’ population and contribute most of the taxes to the government’s coffer.
One can see how desparate these UMNO goons are now. They are willing to sacrifice the peace and progress of the country by sending their man, Ahmad Ismail and Saiful to create trouble so that ISA and later Emergency Rule can be imposed as an excuse to supposedly quell unrest. Of course these unrest is created, orchestrated, fanned and spread by their own people. It is so shallow and superficial, even my primary son can tell.
It will backfire on them just like Pematang did. They never can understand the meaning of people’s power.
All Malaysians love the Azan prayer and never questioned our muslim communties. In fact, Azan prayer is very good to wake us and our children for workings and schoolings early in every morning.
As a student, Ustaz informed us that Azan prayer is good for cleansing the healthy environment against bad faiths and get rid of evil spirits and souls roaming around our kampongs and housing estates. Non-muslims nationwide respect Azan prayer and have used it. Our multi-racial communities in kampongs and villages have used to listen Azan prayer at Mosques and Buddha songs at Temples.
It is mockery of the government to believe Si-Toyo accusation on Teresa Kok was true without any proof or evidence provided or an investigation to find the truth. Such baseless allegation was untrue as confirmed by the Mosque committee members. It is a moral decay conspiracy using religion to cause racial tension from the dirty politicians to blame on the innocent politician voted by majority rakyat in a holy month. Looks like PAS made a police report on Toyo on his false claim yet no action but police acted on an innocent victim accused by Toyo. Some silly fellows are lodging a police report on this innocent victim to corrrect the mistake made earlier. Malaysians believed a Conspiracy II on 1st woman MP cum Senior Exco Selangor was detained without trial in history of Malaysia.
Malaysians totally agreed and support with the latest statements by BN De Facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said.
(1)the Internal Security Act (ISA) should not be used against civilians, but it should only be use when there is a real threat to national security, such as armed terrorists;
(2) it was time for the Federal Government to revert to the original spirit of the ISA, which was enacted to curb Communism and today should be used only on armed terrorists or those out to topple the Government by force;
(3)by using the ISA randomly, the Government was sending out a message that it does not trust the capabilities of its own enforcement agencies, such as the police, in maintaining peace.
(4)the use of the ISA also gives the impression of “selective prosecution” as the Government cannot incarcerate everybody. In this latest episode, we (the Government) have generated an impression of selective prosecution since no action was taken against the person who allegedly uttered seditious remarks.
(5)We are saying that we are only acting against those who are disloyal to us. The Government needs to change and Cabinet members need to realise this — we have to be progressive.”
MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn has criticised Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar’s explanation for the detention of Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng. He said Syed Hamid’s explanation that Tan was arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) because her life was under threat was “totally unacceptable.”
Malaysians have yet to listen and hear from PM, PAK LAH to voice his statement on what is happening in Malaysia today ? Please wake him up !

PPIM secretary-general Datuk Dr Ma’amor Osman is the Ketua Bahagian of UMNO Bahagian Ampang!
Like I said earlier, there are giveaways in the news.
Anyone noticed the “butchering”, censoring and mutilation to the RUKUNEGARA behind the school exercise books of our children? Why is the top part of the RUKUNEGARA missing these days? Isn’t the RUKUNEGARA supposed to start with “Bahawasanya, Negara kita Malaysia mendukung cita-cita hendak………”? Today, what remains of the RUKUNEGARA printed behind these exercise books is the part right before the five principles, i.e. “Maka kami, rakyat Malaysia berikrar…….”
One of the main reasons for deleting the top part of the RUKUNEGARA was the words printed there became so OBSOLETE and for fear of being questioned by intelligent school children who will turn back and ask the Menteri Perpaduan, Menteri Pendidikan or even the Perdana Menteri the meaning of these words, “….membina masyarakt yang ADIL….”. How can masyarakat Malaysia be adil when school children come to know of the fact of separating them into “BUMIPUTRA” and “NON-BUMIPUTRA”. With this classification itself, these four words bear no meaning and the formulator of the RUKUNEGARA had just SHOT himself in the head!
Unless the government takes our children as DUMB and they shall remain DUMB, they should not have committed such crimes towards them, cheating them of the truth while indoctrinating them with tactics ENGINEERED by these BN goons, leading to racial hatred and racial tension!
Since Malaysia is a signatory of the ASEAN CHARTER, Kit can try making a complain to the ASEAN Secretary-General, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, that Malaysia has violated the ASEAN CHARTER on human rights by invoking ISA on Terasa Kok.
Isn’t Ahmad Ismail’s life in danger? Should baldy be protecting him now? Come on, Mr Botak Bodoh, Try again..
Oh, Teresa is a catholic, did she get to go to mass on sunday? or you are repressing religion now in the name of national security?
Under Sections 73(1) and 8(1) of the ISA, an individual can be detained without trial for 60 days if the person is deemed a threat to national security, the economy and essential services.
So how is baldy claim of protecting the reporter? Was she not “saved” under the sections?
He does not know the law himself. So Resign assh**e !!
This is nothing more than the fear of losing power. How could you detain a reporter who is only doing her job professionally. the culprit Ahmad is let of the hook. This is the guy who started the whole eposide. He should be arrested under ISA and not given a 3 year suspension from UMNO. He has played up racial issues. This is totally unfair, unjust and inhumane. How could the govt go on doing such things and claim to represent all the rayaat. The same goes for Teresa’s case. Toyol should have been detained under ISA because he is the culprit who played the religious card. MCA, MIC, Gerakan, and the parties from SAbah and Sarawak should quit BN. You are in a fast sinking ship.
Hello Syed Albar.Very soon the rakyat will all swear at you.If you repent now God will forgive you.
Oh the things you did cannot be forgiven. You will be punish somehow, sometime , somewhere.
May I know if Lim Kiat Siang or DAP going to discuss about Raja Petra release?
The Star Online reports on September 14, 2008: “Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng was detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) because police received information that her life had been threatened, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar. “Police wanted to get to the bottom of it,” he said.”
I presume that the police must have arrested those who had threatened Tan Hoon Cheng’s life, otherwise why would they stop “protecting” her? Anyone knows who those people are? Or anyone knows whether threatening one’s life is STILL a criminal offence in Malaysia?
Okay, okay… enough of sarcasm. But to tell the truth, I honestly believe that all these developments are good for Pakatan Rakyat. I never like Anwar Ibrahim but after the recent arrest of Raja Petra, Teresa Kok and Tan Hoon Cheng, I can’t wait for him to become PM. I hope he is a changed man, thanks to rehabilitation by his former political party. And with UMNO politicians helping Pakatan Rakyat, either directly or indirectly (like Ahmad Ismail and Syed Albar), I have no doubt that Anwar will make it. I only hope that he does not become Malaysia’s Abraham Lincoln.
As for Lim Kit Siang, I can only salute you for your farsightedness when you knew that “Malaysia cemerlang gemilang dan terbilang” was actually tembelang, more so when the whole country (including me) was having the “feel good” euphoria in supporting Abdullah Badawi then. Now we know that you are right after all! Our friend doesn’t even know right from wrong. At least laaaa, pretend pretend to arrest Ahmad Ismail and give him 5-star hotel treatment in detention, complete with air-con, plasma TV, and a laptop, hehehe.
Malaysian Mummy says: “Malaysians have yet to listen and hear from PM, PAK LAH to voice his statement on what is happening in Malaysia today ? Please wake him up !”
You slowly wait or in Hokkien, they say, tan ku ku, hehehe. The Prime Minister has just swap portfolios with his deputy on 17 September 2008 “as part of the transition of power which is planned to take place by 2010.” Is it coincidental or is it BECAUSE of the “Lehman goes bust” announcement the previous day? Whatever may be said about Mahathir, he took over the finance portfolio during the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 and did a very good job. And I bet he will not hand over any portfolio whenever there is an impending crisis if he is still Prime Minister. So Mummy, what’s your chance of hearing even if he wakes up?
BERNAMA reported on 21 September 2008: “Syed Hamid had said Saturday that the ISA was still necessary to maintain peace and security and that the government had no intention to abolish it.
He has also said that the government would always consider amendments to laws in line with the demand for change with the times.”
Unless ALIRAN is bluffing, why is there a need to consider any amendment? ALIRAN says: “The first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman, defined the purpose of the [ISA] as to “be used solely against the communists…My Cabinet colleagues and I gave a solemn promise to Parliament and the nation that the immense powers given to the government under the ISA would never be used to stifle legitimate opposition and silence lawful dissent”.” Wikipedia further adds: “The third Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn, stated at the same time that his administration had enforced the act only with a view to curbing communist activity, and not to repress “lawful political opposition and democratic citizen activity”.
The people gave Abdullah Badawi a landslide victory in 2004, not because he is handsome, but because they hope he can right the wrongs done by Mahathir. And look what he has done! He is truly worse than Mahathir, this hypocrite whom everyone thought was a nice man. How about a Malaysian Academy Award for him?
I agree with Syed Hamid that some adjustments need to be made… Nothing to do with the ISA as described by Tunku and Tun Hussein Onn, just change the implementors. And by that, I don’t mean change the individuals… what for if same soup, different bowl? Change the party running the government and see if what is considered right today is found to be grossly wrong and unjust tomorrow?
