Malaysia in for troubled and very divisive times following the woeful lack of Prime Ministerial authority and leadership

The nation-wide furore over the derogatory, insensitive, offensive and racist speech by the Bukit Bendera Umno division chief, Datuk Ahmad Ismail, has highlighted the waste of the RM100 million spent last year on the 50th Merdeka Anniversary celebrations and the abysmal failure of the Barisan Nasional’s nation-building policy and programme.

The founding fathers of the nation would never have thought that after half-a-century of nationhood, there would still be leaders in the ruling coalition who continue to regard non-Malays as “penumpang” although their overwhelming majority are local born and even have families who have made this country their sole object of loyalty for many generations – making nonsense of the 1957 Merdeka social contract, Malaysia Agreement 1963, Rukunegara 1970 and Vision 2020 objective of Bangsa Malaysia.

Equally shocking is the woeful lack of Prime Ministerial authority and leadership in handling the Ahmad Ismail furore, illustrated by Abdullah adopting four different positions on the issue in a matter of eight days!

On 30th August, Abdullah sought to condone and excuse Ahmad’s offensive and insensitive speech, claiming that Ahmad had not “meant it”.

On 3rd September, to head off the attack from all directions both inside and outside Barisan Nasional, Abdullah agreed that his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak should apologise on behalf of Ahmad, with Najib conceding: “It (Ahmad’s comment) was totally unwarranted and doesn’t reflect the position and attitude of Umno or the leadership of Umno. We regret it very much.”

When Najib’s apology without any personal apology or remorse from Ahmad could not assuage public protest, Abdullah adopted a third position on September 4, declaring that he was trying to contact Ahmad to ask him to tender a personal apology. He said he should be meeting Ahmad in Penang on Saturday.

Abdullah said Najib’s apology was the “right thing to do” although the sentiment on the ground was that the apology should come from Ahmad himself.

However, Ahmad jumped the gun the very next day. After Friday’s revolt by Ahmad refusing to tender any apology on the ground that he was the aggrieved party, which was endorsed by 13 Penang Umno divisions, Abdullah backed down and adopted a fourth position.

Yesterday, Abdullah virtually did a somersault and endorsed Ahmad’s self-serving claim that his speech at the Permatang Pauh by-election had been misinterpreted by the Sin Chew reporter, that he had dealt with historical facts and that it was not a racist statement.

It is outrageous that the Abdullah could be held to ransom by an Umno division leader with the threat of open revolt not only by other Penang Umno division leaders but also from other UMNO divisions in other states, which could end Abdullah’s premiership even earlier than the June 2010 timetable he had set for himself in the power-transition plan to hand over power to his deputy Najib.

Malaysia is in for troubled and very divisive times at the woeful lack of Prime Ministerial authority and leadership to the extent he could be held to ransom by a Umno division leader to set the national agenda as to whether Bangsa Malaysia should continue to be a national objective and mission.

This is all the more shocking when Ahmad’s claim that he had been distorted and misinterpreted by the Sin Chew reporter is so specious, unconvincing and even groundless.

Two other reporters, one from Nanyang and the other from Guan Ming, had come forward with eye-witness accounts to confirm what the Sin Chew reporter had written – that Ahmad had made the derogatory, offensive, insensitive and racist reference to the Malaysian Chinese as “penumpang” in a Permatang Pauh by-election speech on August 23 and that he was not just talking about “historical facts”.

Is Ahmad able to produce any other journalists present at his speech that night who could corroborate his claim that he had not made a racist statement in referring to the Malaysian Chinese as “penumpang” who could not be trusted as Malaysians?

How can Abdullah expect to end the deepening multiple crisis of confidence in his leadership and government when he had to knuckle under to the pressure from a Umno division leader in Penang?

    Following news report of the demonstration of the highest possible quantum flip flopness of a supposed leader of all malaysians ie the PM, I was absolutely devastated how can someone like him end up being our country’s premier? He is a disgrace to the nation and deserves no position in Malaysia. He has betrayed the trust and mandate of the people thinking he can drag himself out of the mess that he has created. He will forever go down in the minds of the next generation and the next and the next as the biggest mistake in Malaysian History.

    1) 100% sure 9/16 won’t happen because he had already ‘planned’ the holidays for these MPs!! he even slotted Agung’s name so that anyone who press deeper will be going against Agung’s wish and that is TOTAL ISA !!
    2) letting ahmad off the hooks. saying frankly, this ahmad Must Have The Real Power that he ignored to apologise even bodowi or najib told him to. Or it is bodowi who gave the blessings to ahmad to make such remarks during P44 in order to let the chinese and other races their actual position in malaysia is only ‘tumpang’
    3) giving personal opinion and involvement in sodomy case as a hint to the police and hospital as to what they should do against DSAI.

  6. As I have always believed, loyalty to a country must come from the heart as it’s the only place where you can truly feel it. If you want a citizen of a country to be loyal to her, in heart and in deeds, treat him/her as equal. I gave up my citizenship to become an Australian more than 20 years ago because I wanted to be loyal to a country that treats all her citizens equal under the constitution, irrespective of race, colours and beliefs. Sure, there may be racial bigotry in everyday life, but the laws uphold the rights and equality of every citizen. And that’s the kind of country I want my children and grand children to grow up in. It gives me comfort to know that should I be wronged, the laws are there to protect me just like it would protect all citizens of the country. And that alone makes me mighty proud and loyal to be a citizen of Australian.

  11. Najib was within hearing distance when Ahmad Ismail made his offending speech, and decided that it was proper that UMNO showed its stand and apologized. PM AAB the terminal patient politically had no idea about what was happening and followed the lead of his deputy. He could be excused for his inability to do anything, since voting him into position was the fault of the party. Had he been able to do what he said he would contact Ahmad Ismail to apologize, the matter would have fizzled out. TDM sensed it his opportunity to fish in troubled water. He said the following:

    So Ahmad Ismail suddenly found that he had support from an ex-President of UMNO. He is using the strength of a former PM to fight against the present PM, and he was right that the present PM capitulated. Ahmad Ismail in now safe. PM AAB now not suffers the loss of face not only in front of the Chinese community, but also the Malay community and others as well. Najib as a Malay knew very well that Ahmad Ismail was wrong, and there are millions others who think along the line of Najib would have agreed that Ahmad Ismail should have apologized but did not do so. The 13 Division Chiefs would have thought the same too, but they held a different position for political reasons. Otherwise out of the 14 persons, the 13 DCs and Najib, the majority would have decided that Najib was wrong. Could najib retain the moral authority to lead if the majority who voiced the opinion thought that Najib was wrong?

    It is unbelievable that a person who sat as PM of the country could not differentiate between opinion of a private person and that representing a political party. If the song writer did something wrong, it was he who had to bear the consequence. In that particular case, Wee Meng Chee apologized. That was rejected by the cabinet, rightly or wrongly. Wee represents only himself, and the community and its leaders had no responsibility for his action. Indeed if his keeper is responsible too to apologize, should God be the one to do it?

    In the case of Ahmad Ismail, his statement shows a political position held by the political party of which he is a member. Ahmad Ismail was required to apologize for making his personal opinion which hurts the Chinese community. He should be sacked from UMNO when his opinion opposed that of UMNO, and Najib’s apology should be seen as on behalf of the party for keeping members who made public utterance against the party policy. It was racist TDM who thought that the Malay community was pressured to apologize on behalf of a member of the Malay community.

    To TDM all matters are meat for political advancement. Citizens are themselves responsible for their own action. Support from members of the community would not make a wrong issue right just because there are political strength. Ahmad Ismail made seditious statement, he has to face the law and will have his say in court. No amount of support from TDM and the 13 DCs of UMNO could change the contents of his statement. Unfortunately, this is a rule by law and the AG’s decision on the matter is influenced by not only who said what, but also how many said it.

    TDM lamented that there were still some Chinese who thought that he was anti-Chinese. He was wrong. Those Chinese who did not consider him anti-Chinese were the exceptions, for exceptional reasons. There would be much fewer Chinese who did not think that he was not a racist. How would you call a person who considers that the action of an individual person is the responsibility of the leader of the race the person belong. Only a racist would come to that conclusion. Malaysians are lucky that the person of that calibre has ceased to be a PM now, after he had inflicted on the country for over a quater of a century. But we are not lucky enough to see him disappear from the scene under the Malaysian sun.

  13. Is a very sad day for all Malaysian.. Looking at today’s paper with Bodowi shaking hand and smiling with the racists guy. Under his leadership ( if he ever knows what leadership means ), Malaysia today is becoming more worst in terms of racial relationship & our economy is going down hill as there is no clear direction on where our economy is heading. Our so call PM is busy with his love life & busy trying to stay in power ( I really wonder why is he still staying in power when almosts 90% of malaysian has loss respect for him and wants him to resign ).     Penang is a cultural mix,if the 13 divisions were from Kelantan or trengganu, it could be argued that their myopia stems from lack of exposure…but, they hail from Penang..where the cultural mix includes Thais, Myanmars, Indonesians descent etc…

AAB’s open surrender to Abdul Ismail & his 13 UMNO divisions in Penang before the watching eyes of 27 millions of Malaysians clearly shows that we have a PM who puts his own self interest (survivor) before the interest of his party UMNO and his ruling coalition Barisan National. The way he acted on the case also painted a picture of UMNO still infested with a LARGE number if “Abdul Ismails”, so large that both AAB & Najib have to succumb. The house of UMNO is fast crumbling.

    If there is any sense & sensibility left in MCA; Gerakan & MIC and other component parties in BN, they should leave without further a do. Malaysia deserves a fresh & clean start!

Let them deny for all I care as what is black will remain black. This is definitely a very dangerous trend and I hope that Pakatan Rakyat doesn’t fall prey to this racist trap set by a racist man, afterall, playing racial politics is Umno’s forte. Let them be caught in their own game.

    Pakatan Rakyat needs to focus on the more pressing needs of the rakyat in the making of a better country for all Malaysians.

    Infact, we need to look at the Definition of ” Immigrant “. Ahmad Ismail is not educated man. He don’t know the History of Malaysia & the definition of Immigrants. My parents ( Dad-85 yrs old , Mom -80 yrs old) are born & raise in Malaysia , so they are NOT considered as a Immigrants. I was born & raise in malaysia , educated locally , in UK & USA, and also NOT considered as Immigrant.

    The solution to this case is simple. The PM should ask Ahmad ismail to tender a Personal Apology to the chinese Community ,If Ahmad refuse then charge him w/ Sedition Act. Let the Rule of Law take its course.

    From the International community standpoint. Malaysia gov’t is considered a suspect in the murder case of Altantuya S . as Gov’t agents & C4 are involved. Our Gov’t is losing Credibility internationally. What a shame ! We are Lucky that Altantuya S is not a US citizen otherwise Tomahawk missiles will be hitting KL & Putrajaya.

  20. Was not Najib present, when the offensive remark made?
    Why did’nt he come forward and confirm whether the reporters have distorted the racist remark…instead, he came forward to offer an apology. It simply mean, he realized the it was wrong on the part of Ahmad, but, has not got the galls to silence this Umno warlord. This country is administered by a flip flop PM and an insincere DPM, how can we not expect disaster!
    The interesting thing now is, this racist par*ah has up his finger at MCA and Gerakan, are they going to return the ‘compliment’ and bail out of BN.

A credible leader will not in this kind of position like Badawi and what i can say is,Badawi now is a tiger without teeth and just a puppet and merely “nyawa nyawa ikan”. He is now just enjoying his PM thanks to UMNO putra-putra. What a waste as He has Rakyat as his back up after GE11, but he didnt use it very well and now that he has lost people’s supprot, he left nothing and his people does not afraid of him anymore.

  28. The end of the Barisan National coalition is near, Beware the ides of September when Abdulah Ahmad and his gang goes for government funded holiday to Zimbawi land. The fort is left unguarded and will be over run by PKR, DAP, SUPP, PAS supporters.   29. PM AAB orders to stop discussing race issue. The order is meant for non-Malays. He cannot order Malays or rather his orders will not be followed by Malays. The person whom AAB was trying hard to locate to apologize appears before him, and all of a sudden AAB has forgotten that he was supposed to ask the person to apologize. So AAB’s threat is only good for non-Malays. He never believes what he says, and neither can he ever remember it.

    The party UMNO is created on the basis of race, and talking about race is its business. If AAB is not playing double standard, and if he wants race to become non-issue, then UMNO should not exist for the purpose of race. For that, Ahmad Ismail should be sacked from the party.

    Afetr 51 years by now older generation and the young generation non malays today speaks fluent BM. I am a product from the Asrama Penuh SMS students, 50 now, cukup fasih dan mampu memberi ceramh dalam BM bantuan, bahkan 3 orang wartawn bagi suratkhabar cina ini kurang kompeten dalam BM, mustahil kalau president syarikat kami fasih dan lancar dengan BM.
    Saya fikir wartawan dari suratkahbar cina itu tidak salah tafsir apa yang di katakan dalam ceramah itu.
    Kalau SB ada rekod apa yang di katakan dalam ceramah PP hari itu pun bolih di erase dari rakaman, ini bukti bila rekod masuk Altantuya dan saudaranya bolih hilang dari rekod imigresen. Jadi adanya SB atau tidak , tiada perbedaan.
    Yang penting Ahmad harus berdeapn, just minta maaf, nothing to lose, otherwise UMNO will continue to go down into the longkang.

  32. Our foreparents journeyed as ONE to bring a name to this country.
    Of course, upbringings are the main reason we are still ‘divided’ and ‘ruled’. All of us must come from a root that carries family values. A strong family values individual will normally make a different to the rest as he will be a leader by natural character.
    When everything were made political influence by those many especially ELIT. We have to live with things that were set by them.
    They, in the other hand have been using different approach to cultivate and instilled ‘divide and rule’ mindset to their young soilders as to allow their continous control of the ruling power.
    So, we are not totally lose here as we all are survival by natural. We don’t ask for assistance as we normally find a way to be a winner each day.
    Malaysian today will stand united to make history to Malaysia.
    We will seek our real independence from our ‘wicked’ government andwith GOD’s intervention … we will walk this path as our foreparents have set forth for us in the past. We, now will fought for our next generations to come.

  33. The way I see it, Ahmad could be acting for Najib to make Badawi look really inept. Najib himself has taken the high ground. Gerakan is helping stirring up the heat vis-a-vis UMNO Penang. It seems that these guys are just waiting to stir up enough sentiment so much that it will end up with civil unrest. By that time, Badawi will be asked to resign, the National Security Council will be set up, and Najib will lord over all of Malaysians like a dictator, a repeat of what his father did to Tunky Abdul Rahman.

    What they don’t know of course is now the MAJORITY of Peninsular Malaysia citizens be it Malay, Chinese or Indians are more circumspect and will not fall for such incitement.

    We’re just eagerly awaiting the Pakatan takeover.

    1. Did the reporters record Ahmad’s speech?
    2. Are there any reporters from the Malay and English dailies, present at the ceramah that night, who are willing to corroborate their Chinese colleagues version of Ahmad’s speech. (The Malay and English newspaper editors may have spiked the story as it was ‘sensitive’ ).
    3. Special Branch is normally present at all ceramahs. They will have the evidence to pin that racist.
    4. Why is the police unwilling to pursue this case as vigorously as it does when opposition politicians are involved.

  36. These umno buggers are only worried about their rice bowl. Badawi and Ahmad Ismail are business partners who were hoping to make a few extra bucks from the now-shelved PORR project via Ahmad’s company, Peninsular Metal Works Sdn Bhd. They don’t really give a damn what color your skin is or where your genes originate, as long as you cut them in on the action. Bid them farewell quickly because they will soon be history! :-)

  41. Did AAB lost in the 2008 election to the extent that the government could not be stabel at all? It was certainly not true that BN could not government with that margin of majority. The problems that AAB faced was a governemnt which has lost all moral authorities to remain in power. That started in TDM adminstration, and the rots cannot be remedied.

    The loss of a few seats would not have been seen as threatening AAB’s adminstration if it was not the political turbulences in UMNO engineered by TDM. He did it in 1969 even when the governemnt by Tunku was the best Malaysia ever had, compared to the succeeding governments under BN. Yet, TDM was able to cause distrubance and set the course for destruction of the country which had the potential to equal Japan, if not to excel it.

    TDM declared that he woudl migrate when Anwar becomes Prime Minister. For that reason alone, the majority of Chinese in the country would want Anwar to be PM. Never had there been one person who have created so much hatred from so many people.

    There’s no point trying to force an apology from them as it wouldn’t be sincere anyway. People like Ahmad and Dr. M believe that making such comments equals standing up for Malay rights and they take pride in not bowing to pressure to the demands of ‘chinese extremists’. That’s how thick their skins are.

    Just reveal these people for what they are and leave it at that. What is needed is to instill in future generations that racism and racially demeaning comments from whichever race is not something to be proud off.

If you cannot accept the people borned here, how can you make foreigners feel good, feel welcomed and expect them to become citizens of Malaysia ? If you want rich people to become citizens of Malaysia, you should know that these people are not Malays. In fact, how many are pure Malays ? Malay mixed with Chinese. Malay mixed with Indians. Malay mixed with Pakistani. Malay mixed with Australians. Malay mixed with Europeans. Why don’t you just marry your own Malay race if you are so proud of your own Malay race ? Make sure your children marry Malay and your grandchildren marry Malay.

This is the same woman who THREATENED her own race and community with Mei 13 in the run up to the March 8 polls. How can anyone believe, trust and support people like her? If MCA will not penalise their own leaders for continuing to treat the Chinese community as a surbordinate race cowed by fear of physical harm everytime we stand up for our rights, then can we expect UMNO to penalise their own leaders for exploiting this surbordinate mindset and fear?

    For those of us Chinese who reside in Selangor, we must ensure MCA ceases to exist in Selangor. They are the traitors of the race. They will not DISBAND racist politics. They will not embrace non-race politics. They have NO SOLUTIONS to achieving a fair and even recognition of our rights as Malaysians born of this land. And yet, at the same time, they abuse our intelligence by using FEAR TACTICS to enslave our emotions and our minds.

    Can we truly blame UMNO racists for working the same strategy although from a ‘historical’ perspective of ‘origins’? All MCA has achieved is to give UMNO permission to treat Malaysian Chinese like dirt under foot.

  70. Ahmad’s Alleged Remark and Its Impact and Aftermath.

    Why is it so important to get to the bottom of the matter, now that the remark has become the point of contention for the whole nation? The incident has developed to become the focus of leaders and the rakyat alike. At stake is the integrity of UMNO (& their leaders), BN component parties ( & their leaders ), their principles or lack of it, and more importantly the future of the nation.

    The remark and the reactions of leaders has so many implications and insinuations that the whole foundation of the social, political and national well-being seems to have been badly shaken. This cannot be denied and brushed aside as leaders from many political parties and concerned citizens across the country had been left disturbed, confused and disillusioned by the whole episode of events which are still unfolding at this very moment.

    Not to discuss the matter would be disastrous and calamitous to the country and people because the people are indeed crying for answers and clarification in order that the clear and correct picture would be made available to help them make sense of the whole situation. Then and only then would some form of normalcy and order be restored.

    Malaysians have to be mature and strong enough to discuss matters of importance openly, rationally, sensibly, objectively, without fear and prejudice. Let good sense prevail. Cool heads must also prevail. There must be no preconditions. Honesty, sincerity, and integrity must be present at all times and the ultimate objective would be to come up with a solution for the good of the country and its people.

    The claim that he was referring to historical facts when the issue of Chinese immigrants was brought up during the Permatang Pauh by-election seems to be an afterthought.

    It appears that his remarks that the Chinese are merely “squatters” were made off the cuff and meant to impact on the Malay audience at the ceramah that the Malays are still the dominant race in Malaysia. Perhaps the remark was made to win the malay votes for UMNO. Only Ahmad Ismail knew the true reason to bring up the issue of the Chinese status as immigrants.

    One may be prompted to ask what the status of the Chinese has to do with the by-election?

    And why did Ahmad not come out early to clarify and rectify what he actually meant before the furore over his statement got out of hand?

    The Impact and Aftermath.

    What we observe over the past few days is that Ahmad’s remark had sparked off a hot debate among political parties, in and outside of BN, and across the board among the people.

    Distrust, mistrust, disillusionment, let-down, ill-will, prejudice, racism, selective discrimination, disbelief, disappointment, anger, etc., etc., seem to be written on the wall. Only those who are in denial cannot or refuse to read the writings.

    We simply cannot dismiss the grim scenario as a one-of-a-kind situation and a temporary set back. For the situation to become so severe and serious, the Ahmad Ismail’s remark could be seen as the spark that let out the can of worms which had been growing and multiplying over time. Something is organically and inherently wrong with the system but not being able to manifest or allowed to manifest itself for certain reasons.

    Politics of accommodation has its pluses and minuses. When the minuses have exceeded the pluses, it is perhaps time to take a re-look and make necessary adjustments.

    Matters just cannot be swept under the carpet. Instead, earnest and concerted measures and sincere discussions must be held to tackle and rectify the situation for the long term well-being and survival of the nation.

  75. I voted PR last PRU, but i’m so confused with DAP Bangsa Malaysia. i wonder what bangsa DAP wanted. I just go through Teresa Kok’s blog, about memorandum of tulisan Jawi on road sign. The reason is most of malaysian could not understand Jawi. They suggest to put chinese and indian language on the sign. Well, it is more worst, because most malaysian also could not understand chinese and indian language. So what are you fighting actually? Is it because jawi is more islamic. please read history la, jawi is first malay written language.

    Now i see, what is Bangsa Malaysia for DAP. To wipe out all things related to malay and islam. Bangsa Malaysia for DAP is not malay+chinese+indian+iban+kadazan+murut..it is chinese+chinese+chinese+indian. If they can, bahasa kebangsaan also should be chinese.

    I’m not regret voted PR, cause i vote for PAS and PKR, not DAP.

    What i see, DAP should be BN component. Cause they still want chinese with chinese, indian with indian, malay with malay.

    They should actually fighting Bangsa Malaysia in the true spirit of rakyat Malaysia. They should promote Bahasa Malaysia as true and only language. They should start plan to change chinese school to Sekolah Kebangsaan (Malaysia) not Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina as there are no school with the name of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Melayu. They should not fight for chinese literature, chinese culture only, they should fight rakyat malaysia culture.

    I cannot see DAP is for malaysian until now. DAP is like MCA, chinese party. I think Tunku Aziz should not be a member of DAP la, wrong wrong choice.

    Once again, don’t ‘syok sendiri la’ cause malay actually never support you. luckily you are in PR with anwar ibrahim. Malay not choose you, they choose anwar, they like anwar. they don’t like you mr DAP (anti malay and muslim party).

  77. Ahmad Ismail belongs to the faction of UMNO challenging moral authority of Ahmad Badawi’s premiership. That is not all. He also challenges Anwar Ibrahim’s claim to takeover from Badawi. Anwar’s victory in Permatang Pauh has been explained as Malays changing to dissociate themselves from Ketuanan in favour of multiracialism. In refusing to apologise to the Chinese Ahmad Ismail appeals to Ketuanan. He is basically taking the stand that Malay support for Anwar in Permatang Pauh is due to parochial support and nothing to do with them being weaned from UMNO’s supremacy ideology. Ketuanan is too etched in Malay psyche to explain Anwar’s Permatang Pauh success along that line. It being the case, the only way to test this and salvage UMNO’s political dominance is to revert to Ketuanan, using the traditional racial formula of challenging others to delegitimise the current premier blamed as first cause of UMNO’s present woes. It is to kill two birds with one stone, to put a brake on resurgent Chinese/Non Malays’ demands on the back of PR’s recent victories and to delegitimise Badawi’s flip flop premiership, at the same time. Regarding who is behind him, it is he who will benefit most from both Badawi being humiliated and the theory of Anwar’s riding on Malays changed attitudes being debunked. We can guess who that may be.

    I was in Alaska a few weeks back and the salmon were spawning. During this process the salmon swim across oceans for thousands of miles to get back where they were born a few years ago – scientists are still trying to figure out how they do it.

    During the swim upriver they adapt from sea-water to fresh water and the body also changes color as they undergo hormonal changes.

    At this time it seems the meat is not nice to eat except for the many bears who wait for their dinners to swim by – it is an easy catch for the steams are full of salmon.

    Maybe the political party elections of racist parties are like the spawning salmon – the brain is disengaged and those who seek elections have only one thing on their minds – how to get reelected.
    Nothing else matters – not the party, not the nation and definitely not racial harmony.

  79. Its quite clear the PM is doing this because of UMNO election the rational being that it would be worst if he has a bad result in December. The problem is, like his pathetic attempt at dealing with Ahmad Ismail, he is also wrong in this gamble.

    So what if in December he does not have a bad result. With his retirement looming in 1.5 years, he has a very slim chance of pushing forward his agenda without Najib cooperation and Najib is not going to give up his political capital before he becomes PM because he needs it. Any progress of his agenda next year can be easily stopped and reversed if Najib does not take over the batton. Najib in turn, while he has more control over his minions, has to contend with Muhiyiddin who want to be PM ASAP.

    No this PM is lost in all the dynamics of UMNO politics and reacting badly to it. His worst crime is that by perpetuating the wrongs of Ahmad Ismail, he condemns not only his party but his nation and his own legacy with it. This is how the Ottomon empire was lost and one would think his religious knowledge would have taught him that…

    So is there any rule that says after X generation that you are entitle to a bumiputera status.
    Why Baba and Nyonya is not a bumiputera, localized since Melaka sultanate?
    Why a Muslim Indian is a clasified as bumiputera, since they are just localized recently in history.
    So please tell me what is the exact criteria to be classified as a bumiputera?

    ^^You are so darn right. This is a call for a radical but positive change for dear Malaysia. We have had enough of the Malays trying to show themselves to the non-Malays as if they own whole of Malaysia. This HAS to stop. S-T-O-P! Malaysia does not belong to one ethnicity but to various ethnicities. Racism and so-called ethnocentric mentalities do NOT belong in a diverse nation like Malaysia. And lastly I have to say perhaps MCA and MIC should consider changing their coalition within BN and perhaps merge with DAP for a change. A political party should not only be the kind that “walk the talk” where its celebrates diversity and unity but also maintain democracy and freedom of expression for our people.
