Revolt by Ahmad Ismail and 13 Penang UMNO divisions latest and probably most critical challenge to Abdullah’s power-transition plan

The revolt by UMNO Bukit Bendera chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail and 13 Penang Umno divisions backing Ahmad’s stance of no apology for his offensive, insensitive and racist reference to the Chinese as “orang tumpang” is the latest and probably the most critical challenge to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s power transition plan.

It is even more serious than the defection of support of the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and his quitting Umno as it is a direct challenge to the political and moral authority of Abdullah as UMNO President and Prime Minister shaking the very basis of his power base in Umno.

If the Penang Umno example is emulated by Umno divisions in other states, then Abdullah’s days as Prime Minister and Umno President are numbered, forcing him into an earlier departure than the June 2010 timetable he had set for himself under his power-transition plan to hand over power to his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The question now is whether the Ahmad Ismail virus will spread to other Umno divisions in other states to bring an early end to the Abdullah premiership.

Will the leadership of UMNO as well as the other Barisan Nasional component parties, particularly MCA, Gerakan, MIC, SUPP take a strong and uncompromising stand to denounce Ahmad’s offensive, insensitive and racist reference of the Malaysian Chinese as “orang tumpang”?

Ahmad had compounded his offence during the Permatang Pauh by-election in flying against the weight of evidence that he had been guilty of making the insensitive and racist reference to the Chinese as “orang tumpang” as well as engineering a revolt of Penang Umno leaders against the No. 1 and No. 2 of UMNO and the other Barisan Nasional leaders.

The weight of evidence that Ahmad had been guilty of making the offensive, insensitive and racist remarks are:

1. The account by the Sin Chew reporter, Tan Hoo Cheng who authored the original report and who had written an account of Ahmad’s speech during the Permatang Pauh by-election on 23rd August 2008

Anyone who had read Tan’s account which appeared in the Sin Chew today would be impressed by its ring of truth, authencity and bona fides unlike Ahmad’s self-serving 16-page statement.

2. Further direct testimony corroborating Tan’s account by two other reporters, Kelvin Li of Guang Ming and Chen Minghao of Nanyang who covered the same function, and whose accounts were reported in the Sin Chew today.

3. Apology by Najib on behalf of Ahmad. It is completely unthinkable that the Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Umno President would have been prepared to suffer the humiliation of making a public apology on behalf of Ahmad without being sure that Ahmad had uttered the offending term. After all, Najib should have first-hand information as Ahmad had made the offending speech in his presence.

4. The long lapse of 11 days before the alleged “denial” by Ahmad – as the normal action of anyone who had been wrongly maligned or subject of a false accusation would be to make an instant response.

100 Replies to “Revolt by Ahmad Ismail and 13 Penang UMNO divisions latest and probably most critical challenge to Abdullah’s power-transition plan”

  1. Such a mess would not have arisen, had Najis asked Ahmad Ismail to personally apologize to the Chinese community. If Ahmad Ismail felt that he had not done anything wrong, he would have negotiated with Najis that the apology was not necessary. Najis had made the mistake of being busybody in this case – he apologized on behalf of Ahmad Ismail. It is now too late to save the embarrassment.

I have not read the Chinese newspapers; I do not know whether Ahmad Ismail had actually offended the Chinese community.

  2. “Honourable” Politicians from lesser component parties in the BN,

What have you got to say or do in the face of this very direct & very obvious insult to your very being in this nation? You are still going to support the ruling bully party?

Wake up! Maybe bodohwi is not the ONLY one sleeping all this while.

  3. This UMNO warlord thinks that he has nothing to lose. Unless of course he has some land scam deals. Ppl like him shouldn’t be allowed on the streets. He has incited others to hate the Chinese or shoot the reporter. I advise the reporter to lodge a police report over the threat.

If you had looked at him during the press conference, he is a typical bigot and a god-damned racist. He thinks that he is superior and invincible.

Ahmad Ismail is a very dangerous man. The police should throw the ISA on him. He should be arrested before he can cause chaos in the country.

  4. Look at him, im sure he had diabetes and with god will, he will take him soon like the castlemania satay king.

Someday you’ll get the wrath of god, look at your luxury life style. A vampire of politic soaking everyone wealth including the lural folks in kampung. From the look on his fingers already shows clearly his a culprit of corruption.

Its easy to trap this kinda goose, they always greed for more!…

  5. That Ong Ka Chuan from MCA even asked all parties to stop this issue and stop asking Ahmad to apologize, as there are no benefits (for the UMNO and BN).
It seems like they are continuing with the rotten culture.

  6. Of course the 13 Penang Umno divisions’actions challenge the political and moral authority of Abdullah as UMNO President and Prime Minister, and if this kind of ‘Ahmad Ismail virus’ spread to other Umno divisions in other states, the PM is done for, if he does not sooner forcefully quell this rebellion!

But who is backing Ahmad Ismail & his 13 divisions from behind? It will be recalled that it was Najib who apologised on behalf of UMNO for Ahmad Ismail’s racist statement on grounds that it was wrong.

Yet interestingly, YB Kit omitted to mention anything about the political and moral authority of Deputy UMNO President/ PM, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak being vicariously also challenged along with Abdullah’s.

Is this all a part of a larger sandiwara of one rival faction within UMNO undermining the other exploiting the Chinese bogeyman and issue of Ahmad Ismail’s apology as means to an end?

If so, this factional fighting by such means is a dangerous game. Firstly, it is dangerous to BN’s unity driving a wedge between UMNO and other BN’s component parties, particularly MCA, Gerakan, MIC, SUPP riled by Ahmad Ismail’s racist remarks and trying to rebut allegations of being subservient to UMNO’s racial hegemony. It is giving these parties one additional incentive to defect BN, whether or not they join Pakatan Rakyat asnd DSAI’s 916 ‘dream’! Already MCA Perak Youth citing the latest developments has urged MCA leaders to consider taking MCA out of BN if UMNO does not change; Gerakan Dr Koh Tsu Kon said the same and now has been slammed by Ahmad Ismail as “great liar and opportunist”, and that Gerakan can always “get out from Barisan Nasional”! Where to hide face??? Former Federal Territory Gerakan chief Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong has joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat. Said Dr Tan today: “PKR is the party of the future. I have lost faith with all three main BN component parties.” – see MalaysianInsider Sep 6th .

Secondly, it is a dangerous game for the country. It is calculated as pitching Malays’ pride against Chinese pride of who would give in. It escalates tensions and it does not care where it leads to. Maybe someone is intending to create tension and disruption of public order to justify some excuse for emergency rule, one may well speculate.

I have earlier asked that Najib’s apology should be taken as settling the issue with the Chinese community rather than the latter’s pursuing Ahmad for a personal apology because it is conceivable that the issue will be exploited opportunists to advance their factional political interest, nevermind that the nation’s interest and unity of Malaysians are put in peril.

  7. Ahmad Ismail claimed he only touched on the “Chinese migration to this country” when narrating Malaysia’s history. Sure, then he should also have said that once upon a time, Malays too migrated to this land. In fact, Ahmad also forgot to mention that there are so-called Malays migrated to this country recently, later than many nonMalays who have been here for many generations.

Ahmad Ismail also slammed Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon as a “great liar and opportunist”, and said Gerakan can always “get out from Barisan Nasional”. Adoi, Gerakan, direct hit and why are you still clinging to Umno?

At least Tan Kee Kwong heard Ahmad Ismail loud and clear. He vamoosh lah from BN. Finally he heard his without-fear-and-favour father’s voice and dissociated himself from the money, money, money crazy Umnoputras. Umno, he said, is now a “tauke punya party.”

What about Koh TK and others?

Mohd Zain warned “non-Malays to be extra careful with their deeds and words” and “Malays can retaliate very aggressively,” amidst applause from supporters. Truly a threat worthy of a visit by our polis. Yes, all Malaysians should be careful. Remember the origin of the word “Amok”!

  8. Penang opposition leader: Reporter should be shot
    By Adib Zalkapli

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 5 – Penang opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, who was at the press conference to show support for Bukit Bendera Umno head Datuk Ahmad Ismail, criticised the reporter from the Chinese newspaper who allegedly twisted Ahmad’s words during the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

However, the state Umno secretary did not name the reporter but claimed that only one Chinese publication reported Ahmad’s statement.

“What was written may lead to a racial riot. If such a thing happens, he is the first person that should be shot,” he said to loud cheers from Umno supporters who packed the meeting room at Menara Umno here.

Azhar also called on the police to investigate the reporter to find out the truth.

“This issue was blown out of proportion just because of one idiotic reporter. Why should anyone believe him… did he ask Datuk Ahmad for an explanation,” he said.

“Did he just write or record the speech? If there is a recording, he should show it to us… this is not a small matter,” said the Penaga state assemblyman.

Journalists who were present at the press conference expressed shock with Azhar’s comment but vowed not to be intimidated.

“It is a form of intimidation, but the threat will not change the way I do my work,” said Low Chia Ming of Malaysiakini’s Chinese edition.

Kwong Wah’s Ang Yee Shuan also agreed. “I wasn’t there at the rally, but I am sure there were other media representatives who can back the report,” she told The Malaysian Insider.

Only Chinese newspapers reported Ahmad’s remark at the rally on Aug 23 in Kampung Pelet near Bukit Mertajam.

Earlier, Ahmad said the reporter should apologise to every Malay and Muslim in the country for inciting racial hatred.

  9. Fine, don’t apologize. Who wants your half-baked apology anyway. But thanks for opening the eyes of the Chinese even further to the racism in Umno and the impotence of MCA and Gerakan. 78% of non-Malays voted for PKR in PP. Maybe Ahmad has singlehandedly ratchet it up another 5% to be used in the next by-election.

  10. that is the trend of UNMO… when they are in trouble, they will start pointing fingers here n there INSTEAD of themselves… that is why, they can never improve… cause to them, they are alwz perfect… if they are so brave to talk so loud, why makes them so sissy to admit their mistake… as they are heading for dead end, our racist ahmad started to blame the media for manipulating… is this a big joke?? this shows how irresponsible n arrogant our present leaders are… in the end of the day, i bet he will alwz be released off the hook by the double standards which existed in bolehland…

despite racist remarks n threats like “non-Malays to be extra careful with their deeds and words” plus “Malays can retaliate very aggressively” being hurled so gratefully by them, we do not hear any news from the Home Ministry on this…. However, the Home Ministry acted so fast and aggressively on the Hindraf n our friend RPK….

guess what?? Syed Hamid: ISA can be used on Raja Petra.
Meanwhile racist ahmad which stokes racial sentiments and being defiant towards PM n DPM are not being ISA-ed…. another double standards of BN in bolehland…

  12. As days get closer to D-day, September 16, we see paranoia spread with such intensity among the UMNOputras that it is amazing how a very powerful organization can start to crumble all because of avarice, corruption, unquenchable thirst for power and the lust for racial supermacy.

Now it is the forced ‘study trip’ as they have started to question the loyalty of their MPs. They don’t seem to trust even their own.

What next? A brain-washing session at BTN by UMNO?

The recalcitrant racist Ahmad Ismail is giving a new spin to his racist remarks and has galvanized all the 13 branches to question AAB’s authority.

If AAB or the PM-in-waiting can’t even quell the brazen revolt of rebels by the group of 13, how can they hope to control a disparate group of MPs?

Major cracks have begun to show in UMNO. to make matters worse, the old and crafty goat is going for AABs jugular. The chattels are revolting against their master.

It looks a new and vibrant era is imminent.

  13. Ahmad Ismail is trying to play god in UMNO, just because the Malays immigrated earlier then the Chinese and Indians, that does not give them the right to claim that these is their land.
All human being is living in only one world.

Only the racist UMNO would make use of their majority population to bully the smaller minority races.

On one hand, you hear Abdullah calling for National Unity in Malaysia and on the other hand, you hear division chief like Ahmad bullying the rest of the races and destroying national Unity.

    This is the True UMNO!

  14. Penang UMNO has not come out of the shock of 308 yet and is still in the denial mode. Look at the look of Ahmad Ismail in the press confrrence, you will think of Zulkifli of PKR. It’s all the same.

  15. Pendatang?

Forget that these statements are not meant to erudicate, not trying to clarify. Lets suppose we take them at face value and move on. After Najib’s apology it is now fact. After Ahmad’s recalcitrant and short sighted answer, it is now a fact that it did happen. They now should prove that it is true or disciplinary action should follow.

The defence tendered is that those choice words uttered were so delivered in a personal capacity. Should he make that clear before he shoots off his personal mouth ? How are people to know when BN is ever talking in their capacity as elected leaders or if they are shooting the breeze and chewing the fat?

It is entirely because we feel it was uttered in a personal capacity that makes this all so insidious. Its his moral fiber we are talking about. An elected official wielding real power with the moral slant of a Nazi. And then there are the supporters… in their personal capacity.

Look at where this has taken us. Now you can excuse barbaric behaviour and statements by saying that the perpetrator exercised his personal capacity. YOu can transfer land belonging to someone else as long as the end recipient cannot be proven to have been part of the conspiracy.

In that case, we can do a LOT of things. No need to plead insanity. YOu can do so many things just mutter a few choice words.

These are the people claiming to lead the nation? I used to wonder why politicians in other countries would resign over some small controversy or scandal. Now I understand that it is not the size of the scandal or controversy that is the crux of the matter. It is the moral fiber of our leaders. We put them there.

Bite me once… shame on you. BIte we twice … shame on me. This is not the time to keep quiet.

  16. COLOURS OF THE WIND (POCAHONTAS)

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You’ll learn things you never knew you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they’re worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or have the Eagle tell where he’s been?
Can you sing with all the voices of the moutnain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind

How high will the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you’ll never know
And you’ll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon

For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind

You can own the Earth and still
All you’ll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind

  17. I believe that Ahmad “courage” in rebelling against No.1 & No.2 is due to the tacit support of Mahathir. We all know that the master hypocrite has given up on those two and this could be his deperate act to cause a mutiny within Umno before December.

  19. KTK should just pull Gerakan out of BN….no need to wait for reform, it is beyond repair. All smaller BN party should take this opportunity to jump now…DSAI have a much better vision for our beloved nation & rakyat.

  20. So ahmad said that his words have been twisted out of its original shape by that one chinese paper.

But najib was there when ahmad made that remark, wasnt he? He must have heard what ahmad said – yes, the pre-twisted version. But najib decided to apologise. What the heck for? I would like to know.

  21. It’s time to now forget about getting any apology from Ahmad Immigrant. But let’s see what MCA and GERAKAN do now that Ahmad has slapped Bodowi in the face and pretty much told UMNO leadership to stuff it! As has happened in the past, both MCA and GERAKAN have barked like the lap-dogs they are. Are they going to bite?

  22. Do you notice how odd that Ahmad Ismail included Islam in the equation? He said the reporter should apologise to every Malay and Muslim in the country? Assuming that the reporter really did misreported, when did the reporter offended Islam? This Ahmad is an amateur politician lah. If you want to spin something, concoct something intelligent lah oiii. Kampung politic kah? Ahmad oh Ahmad, you think everyone in Malaysia has pea brain like you? Don’t hide behind religion lah bodoh! By the way, there are Chinese muslims also. Therefore, if you(Ahmad) is found guilty, you should apologise to all Chinese and Muslims in Malaysia. While you’re at it, apologize to the Budhist, Hindu, Christians etc Chinese also. Gila punya politician, you want to burn down Malaysia just for the sake of your political survival kah. Mad!

  23. ///3. Apology by Najib on behalf of Ahmad. It is completely unthinkable that the Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Umno President would have been prepared to suffer the humiliation of making a public apology on behalf of Ahmad without being sure that Ahmad had uttered the offending term. After all, Najib should have first-hand information as Ahmad had made the offending speech in his presence.///–Kit

Najib should have said that he disagreed with Ahmad as soon as the offending words had been spoken in his presence. Or at least Najib should have got hold of Ahmad soon after to make him apologize for what he had said, and the matter would have been closed.

PM AAB did not help matter in trying to give cover to Ahmad by saying that Ahmad Ismail did not mean what he said. It is pointing deer and insisted that the animal was a horse; a case of demonstrating his authority to insist he is right. Najib’s belated apology could have made Ahmad Ismail apologize both to Najib and the Chinese community under normal circumstances. Unfortunately for Najib, TDM has decided that it was an excellent opportunity to create trouble for AAB; he provided support to Ahmad Ismail, declaring that Ahmad Ismail was serving the Malay race, just like he has been doing all his life. It proves once again that as long as TDM is breathing, racism will be kicking in Malaysia.

Some 13 UMNO divisions in Penang have decided to support Ahmad Ismail’s statement. They were actually supporting TDM, and TDM’s candidate against AAB. It was a easy decision since Penang UMNO chieftains have now been taken out of the business of governemnt contracts and gravy trains in the state controlled by Pakatan, there is nothing AAB could offer them, and hence they have nothing to lose. AAB could not even raise his voice with Penang UMNO chieftains since he had to depend on them not to give Tengku Razaleigh the required votes to be a presidential candidate in the December UMNO election. So TDM is once again active in the UMNO party election where his son is hoping to be elected UMNO youth chief.

There are ample examples that UMNO bigwits will never be satisfied with serving only for one generation. AAB tries hard to pass the power to a relation not even related by blood. To stop those chains, UMNO members should elect people who was willing and able only to serve as president for one generation, such as Tengku Razaleigh, provided he does not take a new bride to produce the next generation!

  24. that’s why whenever every is not going Ameeno’s way, religion is their trump card / joker ! it’s either playing race, religion, ISA , Sedition Act. pathetic. economy not getting better yet all these guys can do is yapping and abusing around.

I am really happy to see no action taken against Ahmad Ismail as he will definately continue to be the black sheep. It’s only a matter of time this loose cannon or time bomb will blow again.

Bravo BeEnd , PL and Jib. The end of BeEnd is being accelerated by their reluctance to act tough. Guess who’s capitalising and laughing behind your back ? Mamak lah … hahahaha !!!
If it was someone from Opposition, like what I had mentioned earlier, he would be in Kamunting by now.

  25. PM don’t deserve any respect from the rakyat. How to run the country of 27 million people when he can’t even control his own UMNO member, the racist Ahmad. Looks like Ahmad is controlling him. What a shame. Hopefully, he will be removed by 916.

  26. Bro Kit,

Think about it for a minute.
Why should Ahmad apologize?! After all, he’s just repeating what UMNO Leaders believe! This is not the first time & it certainly won’t be the last time something like this will come up.
Pak Lah ahs alreday accepted Ahmad’s explanation. Pak Lah has no choice! Ahmad is just being a “good” member of UMNO!

  27. WHOA no statements from the botak, this is fuming the people man,
hey where is the action, what is the course of action in the manual, wallop first then ask questions or pretend no to know or waiting for instructions from hidden hand.

  28. As expected, no comment from Badawi or Najib. It’s clear that they have lost control. Umno may implode and I for one, isn’t going to shed any tears over it. MCA and Gerakan have also got a black eye each.

As for this Ahmad Ismail affair, I hope YB Lim and other DAP leaders won’t comment any more on it. No point pressing the rascal for an apology, we Chinese are used to the racism from Umno.

No, this mess is for Umno and their component parties to stew over. All PR leaders should stand clear and let them fight it out among themselves. Don’t get involved.

  29. This whole thing is getting very interesting indeed.

Maybe I am thinking too much…

Someone very smart must be behind all this. This to me is like an agatha christie novel, each day there are new episodes unfold that makes the whole thing even more intriguing.

Let’s see how the whole thing ends.

  30. Ahmad Ismail, your extraction of historical events of this country must be from the primary school history book. The bottom line and the truth is, we are all immigrants of this land. Need I enlighten you who are the real sons of the soil?
The fact of the matter is, you and the likes, are just poor losers.

  31. Another flip flop decision by our PM. Only a few days ago, PM & DPM said that Ahmad should apologise for his remarks. However today, our PM said otherwise.

After meeting the Penang UMNO division meeting, the Penang UMNO division must have given an offer he can’t refuse which is that he supports their no apology stance or risk them not supporting him in the forthcoming UMNO GA.

So our PM with a gun in his head, would rather make the non-Malays unhappy and support Penang UMNO division of no apology. He really weak leader. Held ransom by his own division. He is not a PM for all Malaysian but for his own UMNO.

Our MCA & Gerakan are also useless. Now that Ahmad is unapologetic, they should stick to that earlier demand that they would leave BN if this is not resolved. Now they sing a different tune. They said it is UMNO internal affair and leave UMNO to take care of it. What stupid and coward decision?
Don’t understand why they are still in BN when they are treated like shit all the time and what they said are not entertained by UMNO at all? No righteous stand in wha they say and mean!!! Be a Fok Yuen Kap!!!!

  32. maybe this ahmad has some secrets of dollah and jib! thats why ahmad can hold PM and DPM’s bola. If nothing like this than why with the drop of dollah’s and jibs stupid water face with the public still support ahmad racist
don’t wait for 16 just cross over from BN to PK.
PM tells king BN will improve! what have they been doing these 51 years? too late.

Tsu Koon Upset Over Ahmad’s Latest Remarks But Calls On All Communities To Stay Calm
    —————————————————————–

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 6 (Bernama) — Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said today that he was surprised with Bukit Bendera Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s remarks yesterday.

He said Ahmad had turned the issue into a personal attack which could spark negative emotions within the communities in the country, but was quick to remind the communities concerned to remain calm and not to let the views of one leader affect the country’s harmony and unity…………..

Dr Koh said Ahmad’s statement towards him personally was an act of revenge because there was a past issue between them.

“Because since late in 2006, when I decided not to extend his appointment as Penang Municipal Council member as he had exceeded the four-year limit, he had asked for a waiver because he said he was my strong supporter.

“I had said I could not, it had been decided by the executive council as well, but since that day, the hostility began. Today, it is out in the open, quite personally, and an attempt to break up the solidarity between Gerakan and MCA,” he said.

It was an irresponsible move of Ahmad, he said…………..

  34. PR missed a great opportunity to show their gratitude to Ahmad Ismail. They should have presented bouquets to him at the press conference for the huge favour he did to PKR/PR for pushing the Chinese to give their vote to DSAI at the PP byelection.

PR should also further show their gratitude to Ahmad for making a monkey out of his party’s President and Deputy President. With his refusal to apologise he has shown up the zero control UMNO’s leadership has over the party now. Even though his DP had heard the same seditious words and deem it necessary to apologise, he has shown the whole country that UMNO leaders are incorrigible liars and will lied to anything to save their skins including betraying their leaders.

Don’t seek his dismissal. Do whatever you need to keep him in his position. He will be an invaluable asset in the next election. Make sure he is properly provoked and goaded and you can rest assure he will deliver all the non Malay votes for you.

  35. You sleeping P.M
Shame on you because after you telling him not to repeat what he had said during the PP election, and now he again show his ego and
don’t even care about your remark.Common where is your dignity
as a PM.If I were you I will probably jump into the toilet bowl to hide my face. You no worry because your face has onion skin (kulit bawang)

  36. In the times of 12 century AD, the mongols rule , in the 14 century AD the Ming Chinese rule.
Incidentally in the 1400 Admiral Cheng Ho came to the golden chersonese or malacca as traders came to call this small river village at todays Sungai Malacca.
While in the north there is another port of call by traders as today Kedah but were under influence and threat by Siamese kingdom of Ayuthai.
the chieftain in malacca having impressed by the MING naval fleet quickly make friends to wand off the Siamese hegemony intentions.
So the first official chinese people came to the shore of malacca.
If you are a keen researcher you realised the great MING Admiral Cheng Ho did not come to malacca by coincidence.
Before his arrival there were already chinese traders who came here to trade among many other races such as many type of Indians, many type of arabs, many types of malays.
All these people have know how and resources to make and sail in ocean going boats except the malays who sail in smaller and simpler crafts in the archipelago of south east asia.
When identured labour became popular, the british chose industrious Chinese to work in their mines. When the Chinese came they planned and developed their own towns like example LUKUT and IPOH and Later KUALA LUMPUR. They set up their own water and power supply sources, roads and Drainage systems.

They also brought in Chinese medicine , vegetables farming , banking system and mercantile law and many systems a civilised society would have.

Among this they also bring shoes for all to wear.

And today we still have narrow foreheaded loud mouth bragging inequality, superiority, rights to this and that.

For those who can still remember, in the WW2 the largest casualties in malaya are the chinese, not because they can be easily killed , but because they stand and fight.
and then after the WW2 they initiated the booting of the colonials.

So what is the yellow peril?

  37. Pak Lah is no loger a lame duck – he is a dead duck by all reckoning!

Watch his supporters jumping ship, baling out and deserting him soon. It’ll be a spectacle worthy of the Olympics long jump.

  38. “Earlier, Ahmad said the reporter should apologise to every Malay and Muslim in the country for inciting racial hatred.”

Could this be a misprint ?…. if not..Please Ahmad explained how a statement to “ridicule” the Chinese hurts the Malay and what has it to do with the Muslim.

Maybe this is an admission by Ahmad now Malay and the Muslim would love the Chinese to be part of Malaysia. It hurt the Malay and the Muslim to see Chinese getting hurt ?

Maybe we should not be expecting an apology from Ahmad but a proclamation “I love the Chinese for their contribution to this country called Malaysia. That is why we must not let them be squatter but citizenship of Malaysia”

You will be Forgiven but not Forgotten….quoted .. ANWAR

  39. Had another thought…….

The chinese, the indians etc are the minorities in this country. Why should the Malay community be “afraid” of them?

    They are just the MINORITY.

DON’T WORRY LAH, MY MALAY BROTHERS, THEY ARE NOT A THREAT TO YOU IN ANYWAY. Their numbers are too small.

YOUR MAJOR THREAT COMES NOT FROM THESE MINORITIES, BUT FROM THE ONES WHO “TALK ONE THING, DO ANOTHER”, the ones that brainwash you that THEY will always be there for you.
    {end of Part 1}…..

  40. Yes..UMNO is in deep trouble.
Signs are there…greatest of all…no one seems to care or respect Dollah’s leadership… as PM or as President of UMNO.
These signs are emerging….due to decades of cover ups of their true self….a 100% racialist party.
    The truth reveals!

  41. Ahmad Ismail: I did no wrong; reporter to blame for inaccurate reporting.

    (Opalyn Mok )

GEORGE TOWN (Sept 5, 2008): Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail today addressed the recent uproar over his alleged racist statement by again insisting he did no wrong and instead blamed a Sin Chew Daily reporter for inaccurate reporting of his speech delivered during a ceramah at the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.“I do not dispute the fact that I did say that the Chinese were merely ‘menumpang di tanah air kita’ (squatters in our land) but I was referring to the pre-Merdeka period when Malaya was under the British,” he told a packed press conference at Menara Umno here.

Ahmad reiterated confidently that he was not wrong as according to historical facts, it was undeniable that the Chinese were immigrants and squatting on our land during the pre-Merdeka period.”I did not create any racial issue. It is the reporter who manipulated my speech and he is the one with his own agenda,” he said.Ahmad went on to attack the reporter for not being ethical and for intentionally creating a sensitive issue.”So the reporter is the one who is responsible in creating this racial issue. It is the reporter who is racist, not me,” he said amidst cheers and calls from some Umno members present who shouted the words ‘Suruh dia balik tong san’ (Tell him to go back to China).
When contacted for an immediate reaction, Sin Chew Daily editor-in-chief Pook Ah Lek told theSun that they stand by their report, and that it was an accurate coverage of what was said.
He said the report was written by a senior journalist who received an in-house excellence award for reportage last year.
The report churned up a furore among Barisan Nasional components MCA and Gerakan, and the DAP joined in as well, to slam Ahmad for his racist remarks. A number of police reports were also lodged, alleging an offence under the Sedition Act.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who was reportedly present during Ahmad’s controversial speech, had on Tuesday tendered a public apology on behalf of Umno for Ahmad’s remarks, adding that it was not reflective of Umno’s policy.
Ahmad however said Sin Chew Jit Poh had manipulated his speech on Aug 24 and on Aug 25 he had given another ceramah at the Barisan Nasional Bukit Indera Muda Operations Centre and had given an explanation to rectify the issue.

“Why didn’t the reporter pick up and rectify the issue? This clearly showed that the reporter has his own agenda,” he said.

Continuing with his ‘attack’ on the reporter, Ahmad said he believed that the reporter was not a reporter who usually covers political issue but had taken over a friend’s duty.

“The question now is that surely the newspaper’s editor checked the reporter’s report. So, I hereby firmly state that I will not apologise over the mistakes made by the reporter. I am innocent and I challenge anyone who wants to disagree with me that the Chinese were ’squatters’ in Malaya before Merdeka,” he said.

“I am firm with my statement. The reporter should be the one apologising, not only to the Chinese for deliberately creating a racial issue but he should also apologise to me, my family and all the Malays and Muslims in our country,” he said.

Reading out from a prepared 16-page speech, Ahmad also demanded for apologies from all Chinese leaders who had issued comments recklessly and blindly which further blew the whole issue out of proportion.

“This includes the Chinese leaders within Barisan Nasional,” he said.

Datuk Ahmad Ismail pressing home a point during his press conference
to address the furore over a report of his alleged racist remarks.

Ahmad then went on to criticise Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon for getting carried away and losing his judgement by releasing immature comments on the issue.

“Koh has tried to shift the focus on his weaknesses by stating that this issue is the cause of Barisan Nasional’s loss in Permatang Pauh,” he said.

“I challenge Koh to look at himself in the mirror and not to try to find a scapegoat and stop being so dramatic, which he is very good at. He should accept the reality

that the Chinese no longer support him and Gerakan so he should not be looking for a scapegoat,” he added.

Ahmad also ticked off three Gerakan leaders from the Bukit Bendera division, whom he did not name, and told them to look ahead.

“In this issue, they have made statements in the Chinese newspapers but we, Malays, have read the translations. We feel saddened and very angry that after 18 years we, the Malays, supported them, they dare to politicise this issue and it is clearly they who are trying to conduct a character assassination, together with several other Chinese leaders, of Malay leaders in Bukit Bendera,” he said.

“Or perhaps Koh and Gerakan has their own agenda of late and they are only looking for excuses and reasons to realise their agenda. What agenda? You think about it yourself,” he added.

Ahmad also said: “I wish to remind my leaders not to be too weak and extreme in trying to take care of the feelings of others until the feelings of Malays were hurt.” He urged them to be strong, firm and not to follow in others’ footsteps.

In Penang, he said it is a reality that a majority of the Chinese community do not support Barisan Nasional, which was obvious when, in the March general election, Gerakan and MCA lost all the seats they contested in.

“Don’t forget that out of the 15 seats that Umno contested in, 11 seats were given full support by the Malays. Don’t be too eager in taking care of the feelings of other races that we are seen to be weak to the point of hurting the feelings of Malays who had supported us all this while,” he said.

“Malay leaders must wake up and realise now that we have to unite to uphold the rights and pride of our race,” he said.

Later, when asked to respond to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s statement asking him to apologise, Ahmad said he respects and loves the Prime Minister. “With all due respect to Abdullah, as a BN leader I still have my own principles in certain areas so I will still stand by my statement in not apologising.”

As for the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak’s public apology on his behalf, Ahmad said it is Najib’s right to apologise.

Asked to respond to a statement by Koh in Kota Baru that Gerakan will review its position in BN if the component parties, especially Umno, fail to bring about change so as to restore people’s confidence in the ruling coalition, Ahmad said if Koh and Gerakan wants to leave BN, they can do so.

WHAT AHMAD SAID AT THE CERAMAH

Earlier in his speech, Ahmad started off by stating that he is not a racist and that he has many Chinese and Indians who are not only in politics, sports or business but also in his daily life.

“I am not going to be apologetic. I am not going to apologise as I did not owe any apology to anyone in this issue. I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

He claimed that he had been put on trial in the ‘media court’ where the media had found him guilty which is unfair and unprofessional for not getting any clarification from him while straightaway penalising him.

“I am supposed to be ‘innocent until proven guilty’ but unfortunately, this did not happen. Worse still, there are some Chinese extremist who has branded myself as a racist. However, there are many Malays who considered me as a nationalist,” he said.

He admitted that he had chosen to be silent on the issue in the past week as he had wanted to assess the situation and the development that follows.

“During that period, I was also in Bangkok, Thailand. But during that period, I have discussed with my friends and today, I am ready to give response to the issue. This enabled me to make a decision that is not too rushed or hasty unlike some Chinese leaders who had made baseless comments which reflects

their immaturity and had helped fan this whole baseless issue,” he said.

He explained that his ceramah was held for a Malay and Muslim group.

“As a less significant leader, I was trying to create awareness amongst those in my race and religion so it is not wrong for me to talk to them about the fight for Malays and Muslims as it is within Umno’s constitution that we fight for Malays’ and Muslims’ rights,” he said.

He further read out what he had said in the ceramah which is a recounting of the history of Malaya during the time of the British rule.

“I said Malaya belonged to our Malay ancestors. The Chinese were only squatting in Malaya at that time, and that due to the unfairness of the British at that time, the immigrant race had received education and more benefits earlier than Bumiputras,” he said.

He also said that in achieving Merdeka, the Malays had willingly allowed citizenship to the Chinese and this right was allowed the Chinese when the Chinese at that time agreed to Malay rights and supremacy which must not be disputed.

“This is a social contract agreed by our leaders at that time. Citizenship rights were given to the Chinese as a package whereby the Chinese must accept and respect the rights of the Malays and Malay supremacy.

“The Chinese can’t just accept citizenship and later dispute the Malay rights and supremacy as this is breach of contract,” he said.

He also pointed out that if the Chinese wants to dispute the Malays rights and supremacy, then in the same context, the Malays also can dispute the rights of the Chinese’s citizenship here.

Several Umno leaders who were at the press conference, such as state Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid Abdullah and Opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim also voiced their support for Ahmad for his stand of not apologising

  42. Instead of attacking the PM and DPM leadership, instead of insisting for an apology, dear fellow Malaysian, lets try to look at this 2 points raised:

    1) scorpian6666 said (7th Setp 00: 12.28) – Maybe we should not be expecting an apology from Ahmad but a proclamation “I love the Chinese for their contribution to this country called Malaysia. That is why we must not let them be squatter but citizenship of Malaysia”

    2) lopez’s excerpt (7th Sept 23: 13.25) of the nation history b4 1957 – has all Malaysians understand this well, and most important of all, do all Malayaians appreciate this in the same way as lopez does? If the majority (of the younger generation of the 60%) wasnt even well informed of this, its is logical for them to buy-in to the statement “Malays can retaliate very aggressively”.

Thus, dear friends, lets dont jump into the trap, and help those ignorant “who potentially be manupulated to retaliate” to avoid the trap too. More strategic thinking has to be done….

Let ask ourselves this: (1) How many Malay friends that you are closed with? (2) Have you ever talk heart-to-heart with them on the history that lopez eloborated? (3) How many would agree with you? (4) Would you ever manage to convince your close friends on ackowledging the “not being thaught part of” history?

If you have a negative answer to all the above 4, then dont over-react on this episode of “racist manupulation”, and don’t be surprised if the ignorant will retaliate.

Before blaming or attacking on those who try to manupulate, lets examine if we all have done our part in being a real Malaysian, a real malaysian who understand other Malaysians and help other Malaysians to understand us. If all of us has done this very least for our nation, no one would have a chance to be manupulated.

Do you think this sound very naive from a perfectionist? If you think so, then lets face the fact that all of us are walking on a very thin layer of ice on top of a deep ocean that is called “Multiracial Unity”. Dont believe me? Try to walk into any of the public education institutions (esp colleges and universities), you will realise that whatever the fact that you are trying to say will become so insignificant in the sea of ignorants who have not been told on the true part of history.

If the grassroot is not having a common undestanding, there is no basis to argue on a Malaysian for all races, no matter what the consitution has provisioned for, Malaysians will still be easily manupulated to fights for the wrong agenda. Similarly, whatever victory out of political convenient may also not be able to promise for a peaceful Malaysia.

Having said this, a change is still better than none, at the very least, there is a hope to allow all Malaysians a chance to understand the real history of the tanah air and appreciate the effort of “the so called migrants who migrated here a bit later” have contributed in building and developing the land that we all call home. The rationale of this is not to challenge “Bumiputera status”, nation building is a bigger agenda then racial issue. Only mutual respect and common understanding will allow all Malaysian to focus on building a bigger size, rather than fighting for a bigger share of cake.

It probably will take another 50 years to allow all Malaysians to re-understand and appreaciate each others. Then, racist manupulation should no longer be an issue raised, the only political agenda for all Malaysians then, would be “Building a Competitve Nation”.

50 years to rebuild trust is too costly a price to pay? Can we hear from any leader who could promise us that
    1) we could achieve this in 5 years (to rebuild trust) and
    2) together we stand, all malaysian will be working on only one agenda – that is making Malaysia the most competitve country
    a) in SEA by 2018 (10 Years from now),
    b) in ASIA by 2028 (20 Years from now),
    c) in the World by 2058 (50 Years from now)?

    Anyone?

  43. Reporters: He Said It

    2008-09-06 13:00

BUTTERWORTH: Two other reporters covering the event in which UMNO Bukit Bendera divisional chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail made the pendatng remarks during the Permatang Pauh by-election, said they clearly heard what he said, and were shocked and feeling uncomfortable with it.

Guang Ming Daily reporter Li Weihua pointed out that after covering the first event of deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on 23 August, he went on to cover the DPM’s second event, in which he clearly heard the penumpang remarks made by Ahmad Ismail, and was shocked by what was being said.

He said Najib had not yet arrived when he reached Kampung Belah Dua that evening. However, Ahmad Ismail was already giving his speech. As he was not very familiar with the speaker at that time, he did not pay too much attention to what was being said.

He went on, “But later he raised his voice louder and louder, and suddenly I heard this: ‘Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja.’ (The Chinese are only squatting here)”

He said after hearing this, he was very shocked and understood how serious it could be.

Nanyang Siang Pau reporter Chen Minghao also said when he was at Kampung Belah Dua to cover the event, he heard very clearly Ahmad Ismail’s penumpang remarks, and felt very uncomfortable with it.

He said after covering Najib’s first event, he rushed to Kampung Belah Dua to cover his second event. However, when he reached there, Najib had not arrived yet, while Ahmad Ismail was alreary talking on the stage.

He said although he did not know who Ahmad Ismail was at that time, he heard very clearly that he said, ‘Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja,’ and he felt very uncomfortable with what was being said.

China Press reporter Chen Fengquan, meanwhile, said he arrived too late and missed that part on penumpang.

He said Najib was already talking on the stage when he reached Kampung Belah Dua, and he missed what Ahmad Ismail had said earlier.

  44. Ahmad Slammed For Evading Responsibility
    2008-09-06 12:29

PENANG/BUTTERWORTH: The Penang & Seberang Perai journalists associations issued their statements on Friday reprimanding UMNO Bukit Bendera divisional chairman Ahmad Ismail.

The Penang Press Club slammed Ahmad for neglecting the professionalism of journalists, and pushing the responsibility to the media after committing the mistakes while not admitting that he had been wrong. It said such an attitude was very immoral.

The club felt regretful over Ahmad Ismail’s action of openly condemning the media.

The Penang Press Club also hoped that politicians would respect the professionalism of journalists, adding that if the politicians were certain that the media had made any false report, they could attempt to resolve the issue through legal means, not open condemnation.

The press club also urged the police to call the witnesses who were present when Ahmad Ismail made the controversial speech, and complete the investigations as soon as possible.

The Seberang Perai Press Association, meanwhile, condemned Ahmad Ismail for accusing the media of making false reports and for his refusal to apologise, calling such an attitude of evading responsibility and ascribing the blame to the reporters as utterly disgusting.

The association said in a statement that if DPM Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who was present when Ahmad Ismail delivered the speech, had later apologised to the Chinese community, while PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had also urged him to apologise, it could not understand why he refused to do so.

The association said UMNO Penang even openly supported him, attesting to their arrogance and failure to care for the feelings of other races.

The association said it was extremely disappointed with the attitude of Ahmad Ismail, who remained recalcitrant and refused to apologise even after both PM and DPM had advised him to do so, and subsequently pushed the responsibility to the media.

The statement said journalists covering the event had recorded everything Ahamd Ismail said in his speech, and had subsequently reported the truth, adding that the reporters would not intentionally misqoute him.

The Seberang Jaya Press Association made it clear that it would not tolerate the act of the UMNO leader who had said something wrong and was not courageous enough to admit his responsibility but instead ascribed the blame to the media, adding that such a detestable and backward attitude must not be allowed to exist.

If necessary, the association said it would throw its full support behind the reporters who have reported the truth on this penumpang issue. (Translated by DOMINIC LOH/Sin Chew Daily)

Journalists: We did not hear it wronglyBy ANN TAN

GEORGE TOWN: Two reporters have vouched for the accuracy of the Chinese newspaper’s report on Bukit Bendara Umno division chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s allegedly racist remark.

Guang Ming Daily journalist Lee Kelvin said he was sure he heard Ahmad utter Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja (the Chinese are only squatting here.)

“I was following Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s second assignment at Kampung Pelet.

“When I reached the place, Ahmad was already giving his talk but I did not pay much attention to the content of his speech.

“It was only when Ahmad gradually spoke louder towards the end of the speech that the phrase caught my attention,” he said.

Nanyang Siang Pau journalist Tan Ming Xao said the Kampung Pelet ceramah was also his second assignment.

“Najib was already there when I arrived. I don’t really know Ahmad so I did not bother much over what he was talking about. Yet, I’m very sure I heard that remark from Ahmad but I did not pay much attention to the rest of his speech after that,” he said, adding that he was focusing more on Najib.

Sin Chew Daily journalist Tan Hoon Cheng wrote in her journal, which appeared in the newspaper Saturday that she was sure she did not hear wrongly the alleged remarks.

Tan explained that Ahmad was talking about PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the talk that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang would be the next Deputy Prime Minister.

She said Ahmad then asked if anything happened to Anwar, who would be the next Prime Minister.

She said he then asked if they (those attending the talk) wanted Lim to be the Prime Minister.

“After that, Ahmad said ‘Chinese were only immigrants (Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini) and it was impossible for them to achieve equal rights among races’.

“Upon hearing these remarks, I was thinking, did I hear it wrongly? Another journalist came by and whispered to me saying ‘How could he say this; (it would) make people angry after hearing it,” she said in her journal.

Tan said among some 200 attendees in the hall, some of them turned around and looked at her at the time.

“The look was more of embarrassment.”

  46. To be sure, he didn’t deny saying the Chinese were only squatting here. He tried to exonerate himself by saying he meant in historical context, and hence didn’t mean it derogatory. Strange he tried such an argument when Najib was present when the offensive words were uttered and thought it fit to subsequently apologise for it. And even as he shifted the blame – “so the reporter is the one who is responsible in creating this racial issue. It is the reporter who is racist, not me,” it was reportedly said amidst cheers and calls from someof his ilk of “Suruh dia balik tong san” (Tell him to go back to China), which speak for itself the context.

At the end of the day he is arguing on context – historical he said. Jouranlists put on recorder tape what was said and the context it was said, so how could that be changed?

Yet in Bolehland it can be. Truth could be twisted, black can be changed to white; an accused can turn and be accuser, power is what it always boils down to, and after 50 years of nation’s history, playing the race and religious card still works – that gives little hope for those who hope for a better Malaysia for the next 50!

What Humpty Dumpty told Alice in Chap VI of “Through the Looking Glass” is instructive.
[When Humpty Dumpty gives Alice a present, he says “And only one for birthday presents, you know. There’s glory for you!’ `I don’t know what you mean by “glory”,’ Alice said. Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don’t — till I tell you. When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’ `The question is,’ said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.’`The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master — that’s all.’]

  47. Attempts are now made by the relevant players to capitalise on a wrong statement already made to twist and make it right by playing up racial sentiments (a well tried and worn method) in a attempt to unite Malays behind an imploding UMNO against Pakatan Rakyat (“PR”)’s rising popularity and project 916, which is why I repeatedly warned before that if people kept on pressing for personal apology after Najib’s one, it would sure be played up by political opportunists to thwart PR’s agenda using the Chinese as bogeyman and to separate PR from Malay support.

  48. Malays are made up from very complex backgrounds with their own issues and problems.

Imagine our country without Chinese and Indians? When are the Malay leaders/politicians going to fully appreciate and recognise the great contributions and sacrifies from generations of Chinese and Indians to build a modern, fair, progressive and competitive country?

Mujur ada orang cina di negara kita!!!

  49. For decades our leaders from all races had allowed racist bullies to use Chinese as a scapegoat for their weaknesses, frustration and failures to achieve their narrow, short sighted and damaging political objectives.

In the best interest of the country, it is long overdue for all leaders from all races to end this immediately!!!

  50. this admad imbecile is like the poof sadful. One is kicked out from school and has no future, the other kept in cold storage and had no political mileage.

So both grasp at the last few straws available to make it big – you know like gambling when you are down to the last few dollars. It’s making it big or bust. If this sort of lack of morale and integrity stuff is pervasive across the malay culture it will mark the demise of the malay civilization

  51. I fully agree with Sdr. Lim that the most significant impact is the implication to the PM. This incident had 200 witness and clearly more than one reporter. Ahmad Islmail is a bigot, a hypocrite, a liar but worst of all he is careless, he makes stupid mistakes. There is no way to cover this up and he went ahead and do it anyway. The fact this PM when along with it so quickly either means the PM is dumber than him or he is desperate. Its likely a bit of both.

What is the PM thinking to make a statement after just meeting up with him? Najib was there and his apology should have instinctively told him that Ahmad Ismail is lying and the least he could do is say, he has to look into it rather than come out to support him.

The problem is this is not going away and will come back to haunt BN. The truth is the way to go forward for even this PM is to bury Ahmad Ismail. It does not take an FBI profiler to figured out this guy has dirt and if he is smart, get someone to finger him and bury it. The PM can then go back to UMNO Penang and say ‘I told you so…’ and come back strong.

In fact this is what the opposition, Gerakan and MCA and PM should do – this guy has ‘corrupted’ stamp on his foreheard. LGE has pretty much given the first indication even as the story unfolds. Link racism with corruption and everybody except these bigots win..

  52. I hope DAP can stop taking credits and banking on this ahmad ismail fiasco for political brownies.

Can’t you see that this is exactly what UMNO want? DAP is again a Chinese chauvinistic party.

Where are the Malays in PR? Instead of Chinese vs Malays, PR should all stand behind Bangsa Malaysia condemning Ahmad.

Are you guys only going to stop when race riots break out? Why go for cheap political brownies and play right into another 513 plot by desperate UMNO?

What is Bangsa Malaysia when the Malays keep quiet about Ahmad and Chinese makes all sorts of stupid police reports to gain political points?

  53. hope no delete whatever umno talk it is their right n previlige others say are racist now png state umno consider suing newspaper read today star look like pm is trying to hint that newspapers shouldn’t publish sensitive then ask your idiot don’t anyhow bark ridiculous to mca don’t try to say represent the chinese but some of the chinese no bldy use mca go to h…………………..sometime ppls want is action not just talk kok okc

  54. I’m a little disappointed with how DAP is handling this matter.

We all know those police reports serve no purpose other than cheap publicity for DAP and unnecessary pressure on Abdullah.

You ignore the dangerous water that Malaysia is on now as a result of this escalation.

Don’t let your political ambition cloud your judgement to do what’s right for Bangsa Malaysia.

When race riot breaks out on the street, the people will have no choice but to dump the Bangsa Malaysia ideal and draw the clear race line for safety and survival.

It’s time to get the other races in PR to stand up against Ahmad. Please stop rallying the Chinese against Ahmad before it’s too late!

  55. You of all the opposition leaders should know well how 513 has damaged Malaysia for 50 years. Are we going to let them start another?

DAP has achieved enough with all the humiliation on Najib and picture of a weak Abdullah who has no control over his own UMNO.

Please stop now before it’s too late. We need to send the right message to the Malays why they should not buy Ahmad’s BS, not working up the Chinese to go all out against the Malays!

  56. if we have indeed achieved any progress as a Bangsa Malaysia since March 8 at all, we will be seeing our Malay brothers and sisters rallying together with DAP against Ahmad.

what I am seeing is very frightening and disappointing.

DAP reverting to a Chinese party. Malays in PR keep quiet about it. Now Ahmad is claiming ALL MALAYS are behind him.

Do you see where we are going now?

  57. According to news reports, 22% of the Chinese in Permatang pauh voted for BN despite the fact Ahmad ismail publicly labeled them as “squatters” during ceramahs. These 22% are obviously from the mca and gerakan. They are either mental retards or are happy to be 2nd class citizens. Their identities should be disclosed so that we can know what type of idiots we have in this country.

  58. Where is Malaysia heading to after 51 years of independence ? Instead of talking about commonalities among races, we see politicians highlighting differences.

BN had ruled for 51 years and even till this day, we hear seditious words being uttered and yet these person(s) are not charged ! UMNO’s Youth previous leaders racial utterings and widely used of keris symbol and Ahmad Ismail touching on the ” penumpang ” issue did not help in nation building.

Added to this was Tun M’s defence of Ahmad. What is he trying to do ? An ex-PM fanning wild racial sentiments ! Sad to hear this from an elder statesman. What a shame !

By the way, I understand that Tun M’s father was from Kerala,
AAB’s father came from Sanya , Hainan Island whilst Ahmad’s father came from Indonesia. Do they share the same background as the Indonesians , Filipinos , Chinese and Indians ? These are also facts which we cannot deny.

We are living in the 21st century and yet we hear politicians keep on reminding our citizens our our background. What do they want to achieve ? Perhaps to divide the people and rule. Dont they realise that we are all Malaysians with common objectives.

Unless there is a sincere and genuine effort by all Malaysians to forge a united Malaysia, all the visual effort in promoting unity and harmony will come to nought and wasted.

  60. Umno is a racist party for years and decades.Surprisingly parties like MCA,Gerakan,MIC can remain subservient for so long. Many people tend to believe that their presence in BN had enabled their respective leaders to make it their gravy train. But then after 308.the ‘gravy train’ may soon reach its final destination and the whole group is at the verge of breaking up.The Penang balless party head and his 13 division supporters are skunks.Their words and behaviour really stinks.Imagine they have no guts to admit their wrongdoing but conveniently making the reporter as their scapegoat. No sensible people can tolerate their remarks towards the poor reporter.I quote what these idiots said,”Gantung pemberita itu, tembak dia ,suruh dia balik China.”Don’t you agree the devilish racist party can only produce these stupid, selfish, corrupted, cowardly and lazy and good for nothing bums?”

  61. It doesn’t matter if one is called ‘orang tumpang’ or ‘pendatang’, the truth is that we are Malaysians as our Mycard clearly states that the holder is a Warganegara Malaysia. Don’t waste our time arguing over this as it only ‘rugi’ all of us. In a multi-racial country like ours, friction of this nature bound to happen from time to time since there are always some politicians try to seek support through the easy way by resorting to sensitive racist outbursts.

  62. I agree with azk. DAP must not get to that low a level as that scum bag. UMNO is going for broke and will drag as many as possible along with the sinking UMNOship.
DAP must not bankrupt your ideals of Ketuanan Rakyat Malaysia by harping on this issue. There are enough right minded people fighting the cause. So lay off the issue.
For once let Gerakan, MCA & SAPP win some mileage in their political journey of winning back their grassroots support. After all, one only shine in the presence of credible opponents.

  63. Everyone of us including the Malays are pendatang.Time makes the difference. Some came here earlier than others.Even the ex MB of Selangor is the son of a recent pendatang from Indonesia and despite the fact that we have been living here for generations and even longer than Toyol. So to Ahmad and his gang from Penang,’What is there to shout about the pendatang issue?Hang semua ni bodoh ke?”

  64. It does not matter the journalists claimed that “We did not hear it wrongly” and we heard Ahmad said ‘Chinese were only immigrants (Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini) and it was impossible for them to achieve equal rights among races.’

Ahmad Ismail and Penang Umnoputras claimed otherwise and demanded that Malaysians must accept their black-is-white and white-is-black explanation. They even declared openly FO to AAB for asking Ahmad Ismail to apologise and that the Sin Chew reporter be shot. (OK for this kind of talk?)

Not surprisingly, AAB (tak suka dicabar but pengecut bila dicabar) declared that Ahmad Ismail is a good guy and not a racist. Ahmad Ismail was misinterpreted.

Ahmad Shabery also supported Ahmad Ismail claim that the media had misquoted his speech, turning it into a racial issue.

Umnoputras claimed that they say no wrong and they are not arrogant!

  65. I feel we all have to be very very careful here…..don’t play into their dirty hands! It’s quite obvious that there is a personal political agenda there. This Penang fellow hadn’t got what he wanted during the Gerakan years and now with PR as the state government, he has a lost more to lose. So it’s all a matter of money…money…money…as Lim Keng Yaik so aptly puts it. He is also playing this up to create more political chaos in the run up to Sept 16. Quite rightly, all Malaysians regardless of race and beliefs, should stand together, unite and ensure that PR gets in as the federal government…soon!

  66. Ever thought how and where did your forefathers disembark when their boats landed on the shores of British Malaya.
How are they transported to the mines, do they walk, by bullock cart, where are these roads.

What was the boat names, who were these merchants who brought your forefather to this forsaken troubled land.
The british has learnt that your forefathers are dirt hardworking and so damn self motivated in the Pearl river estuary.
You are hungry to the bones, your kinsmen are hungry to the bones, your child dont live up to 20 years old if you can get a wife. Those days When you are in your teens you are at your prime it is do or die.
This is in your blood, your forefathers begets the harsh treatment of the CHINGS and their corrupt feudal ways.
They is no other choice you sell yourself for a bowl of rice and leave for the british malaya. Each of us has our story, the bottom line is no food, no future, no opportunity, no hope.
Where are the tears of your forefathers when they board the forsaken boat, mind you some never arrived at all.
Over the years, nobody cares for you, the kapitan china did his small part, the tongs did their part, the kongsi did their part too.
But what sucks is when a baba says he and his friends did their part, if we look closely he really did his part in saving his own arse.

You see in the 1900 to 1945 there is a missing part of our history which is either deliberately left out or conveniently disappeared. Maybe i could be wrong , perhaps those who professed can show where are these sources , but they dont have to intepret them,

Overseas Chinese is such a phenomena, it does not end in british malaya, it is global and there is no other.

As for our bolihland politicks , it is only at infancy stage of a nation, every body is trying to eatablish a precedent so that their future generations are not deprived. I say my foot what is there to be deprived when there is nothing left.

  67. Well, though Ahmad Ismail is racist but the chinese as a whole is to be blamed for this. The chinese as a whole ask for it generally.

One hand don’t clap. If the chinese is vocal enough and unselfish all these while, then this kind of thing won’t happen. In general, when come to issue and problem, chinese will choose to stay away and hide in their own house. When there is benefit, the chinese will be the first one to share the distribution of benefit. That’s chinese.

Chinese always like to protest in silent. If so, then better suffer in silent and accept everything in silent. The chinese ask for everything.

  68. This an utter outrage!

What Ismail had said can not only spark a possible racial riot in a
multi-ethnic society like Malaysia but also shows he has a backward
mentality. Do we want to see the May 13 riot repeat itself in this day and age? The answer is “No”, no more and never again.

How dare he called the Chinese Malaysians “squatters” and “pendatang”! To be frank, men like Ismail is a social threat and do not belong in a country which its society is ethnically diverse. If he has the guts to call the Chinese Malaysians “squatters” or “pendatang” why can’t he be man enough to say his apologies for his misdemeanour?

An apology is not enough and perhaps he should be stood down, be
barred from any political party, be stripped of his Datukship and
serve his punishment to teach him a lesson. This will be a lesson for
those who dare to consider of incurring racial sentiments among
    Malaysian brothers.

Datuk Ahmad Ismail should have learnt his history properly that
Malaysia was not built by the Malays alone but by many hands of
different creed, ethnicity and religion. Without the different races,
would it be possible to see Malaysia standing tall alongside with other first-class nations today in 2008? He should have thought of the consequences of his words for words can not only cut like a knife but they are also not easy to be taken back when they hurt others.

  69. Ahmad Ismail and 13 Penang Umno divisions that backed Ahmad’s stance of no apology for his offensive, insensitive and racist reference to the Chinese as “orang tumpang” declared openly: Ahmad Ismail will not say sorry.

Why, why, why? We may ask. Why Ahmad Ismail will not say sorry?

Answer: Because Ahmad Ismail loves all Malaysians deeply.

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry!” (Love Story)

  70. l realise one thing, this Ahmad Ismail is quite stupid to saying that “Chinese are immigrants and squatting in Malaysia”.
1st, because according to the history, Malaysia is own by orang asli. So if let say, we are being racist to Malaysia, what about with your guys? And who are the person who came to Malaysia from Indonesia because of runaway from the enermy? Do he still remember that? Or else, he was sleeping when having Sejarah classes?
2nd, let say he know nothing, what about with government? Government was always saying that, Malaysia is a “berbilang bangsa” country. When they facing problem, will push this topic to aborigines. For example, for Osama cases, they was scare and can’t do anything and just keep saying that, “Malaysia is a “berbilang bangsa” country”. So since he (Ahmad Ismail) was saying that, did he realise that he feel shame on himself.
3rd, we (chinese) are just waiting for your apologise, is that really hard to say the word “l’m sorry” ?
And please ask himself, what did he sacrifice to country? Did he done well on his job?

  71. well played DAP leaders..when several chinese reporter wrote this thing.all chinese people are angry! im also angry! buy hey, cant u see YB Lim is good enough making all chinese in Malaysia angry?? He keeps on playing this racial issue, but still dont want to admit he is racist.DAP is again a Chinese chauvinistic party.i do agree with azk.Stop this thing laa..we all immigrants! all of us are equal then.but please, learn history.do not refer to 1900 only, refer to 1800 and older.have u ever heard kesultanan cina pulau pinang? or any state? no right?? even this land was called tanah melayu (malay land).this land has its owner, long before we were born..i respect that malays came before us.so why we want to argue history.i dont want to become like ungrateful Singaporean who doesnt want to respect Malaysia.

i also mix.my grandmother, greatgrandmother were chinese.but now im Malaysian.im more grateful to be awarded as a Malaysian even i cant speak Malaysia language fluently like native Malays.but hey…do you love to see 13th may riot again???

read this;if DAP is not racist, why only 1 Malay exco (PKR) in Penang?? plus Deputy CM,made 2 malays only?? malays are 30-45% of Penang’s population but given only 1 exco??? before this,Gerakan gave 4 Exco.see.if u say DAP is multiracial,or Malaysian Malaysia party then it should be based on population.not chinese dominant!!! DAP for bangsa Malaysia,or for Chinese??

  72. The past experience has shown that if racist leaders/politicians are allowed to say what they want unchallenged, in particular from their own leaders, their followers will think it is their right to say the same thing to incite racial hatred and division damaging to a multi racial country.
