Any Najib apology for the rank racism of BTN indoctrination courses?

It is not just Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail who is guilty of rank racism with his derogatory, offensive, insensitive and chauvinistic reference to Malaysian Chinese as “pendatang”, “penumpang” and untrustworthy Malaysians, the Biro Tata Negara (BTN) also purveys such extremism and un-Malaysian prejudices and communal poison.

Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Razak has apologised on behalf of Ahmad Ismail to non-Malays “if it caused unhappiness”.

Is Najib next to apologise for the rank racism of BTN in purveying similar communal poison in its indoctrination courses?

I have received the following letter from an outraged parent at the trauma his daughter underwent in one such BTN indoctrination course for JPA scholars.

The BTN’s racist indoctrination course is a great disservice to both Malay and non-Malay JPA scholars as well as to Malaysian nation-building, the Merdeka social contract, the Malaysia Agreement, Rukunegara, Vision 2020 and Bangsa Malaysia.

It is time that the BTN’s racist indoctrination courses be exposed and all true Malaysians, both Malay and non-Malay, are invited to expose such extremist excesses and communal poison in BTN indoctrination courses as a prelude for its total revamp if not abolition!

BTN’s racist and divisive indoctrination courses

Now that Najib has apologised to non-Malays for Ahmad’s statement, I would like to bring to the attention of Najib the pain endured by the young non-Malay JPA scholars who are required to go through a five-day Biro Tatanegara programme at certain camps in the country. To be fair, many moderate Malay students too cried and were hurt by some racist comments made by the instructors.

As part of the course, which is mandatory before they are sent overseas, all non-Malays are segrgated and given lectures on the history of the country and how the immigration of the Chinese and Indians had taken place. And finally how the Chinese and Indians were given citizenship. The Malays too had their own similar sessions.

The instructors blatantly told them that they should not question the rights and privileges of the Malays as the non-Malays should be thankful that they were given citizenship status and a place to stay on their soil. My daughter together with the other non-Malay students was shocked and went back to their dormitories depressed. And to the Malay students, the instructors told them to be aware of this fact and not to mix too freely with the non-Malays.

A Malay friend of my daughter came back crying to the dormitory saying that she could not take the racist position taken by the government authority. My daughter then began questioning the bumiputra policy and was disgusted with such blatant indoctrination. This incident has also made the students harbour anger and resentment. Their fear for the authorities and losing their scholarships made them keep their cool. I am not exaggerating here – ask all the JPA students to write in anonymously and you will know the truth.

These are young minds being polluted with racism. Tens of thousands of students have gone through this programme and more will be attending it in the future. So can you blame them when they exhibit their racist tendencies when in authority? How could the JPA allow such a syllabus for the cream of the nation, who will one day be entrusted to implement government policies fairly?

So, will Najib take responsibility for the racist syllabus and subsequently the racist remarks and apologise to the tens of thousands of students and parents who were hurt by such hurtful remarks? Of course knowing the BN government, it will deny this. Believe me, this is the ABSOLUTE truth.

My call to Najib is to immediately probe into this claim with the help of a multi-racial team of officers from Suhakam BUT please maintain the anonymity of the young children who have everything to lose. This blatant racism practised and preached by the Barisan Nasional government must stop immediately.

From an outraged Malaysian parent

  1. BTN is propagating racism . It’s BeEnd arm of Malay supremacy. We are born into this world with equal rights to live.
We are not son , grandson, great grandson …of Immigrants. We are just Citizens of Malaysia.
Right enough many Malays feels the same. We are brothers and sisters.
If the world is color and language and religion blind, aren’t we the same ?

  2. This is exactly why the Barang Naik coalition should be stripped of power and exposed for all to see. This is exactly why we have to expose that the Emperor has no clothes, and why the Emperor’s son-in-law has to open a shop called The Emperor’s New Clothes.

  3. As the theme of this Merdeka is “Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan” BTN should be disbanded.
All these racist arms had created 2 types of extremes, one blindly agree to it and the other strongly in the opposing side.
BeEnd had lost ground by paying the race card for 50 years as Malaysian had been truly assimilated through their daily live.
This post colonial “divide and rule” by religion and race had truly backfired.
    Long live Malaysia !!!

  4. This indoctrination had been going on since the program was initiated. It’s nothing a Umno indoctrination machine similar to Hitler’s youth program. I hope that this will be the first thing to be dismantled when Anwar comes to power. No “if” or “but” but a “must”. It’s too dangerous. Those who drew up the program should be locked up permanently.

  5. Kit,
You know and I know and everyone knows the role of BTN and what it has been doing. It is nothing but a bigoted UMNO outfit.
The first thing Anwar should do on taking over the government is to disband BTN. It shouldn’t exist in whatever form.

  6. BTN programme flies in the face and makes mockery of the Prime Minister’s 51st National Day Message calling on every Malaysian to give importance to solidarity, as “it is the cornerstone of the country’s political stability, social harmony and economic competitiveness”.The PM further added, “no one citizen is recognised as being of a higher position than another in this nation. This nation belongs to all of us. Whether we rise or fall as a nation, depends on all of us”.

So is BTN’s racist indoctrination courses helping? BTN should be disbanded for doing the nation a disservice.

  7. Thanks for exposing one of the many ‘brainwash’ programs that has been introduce to many of our young childrens. I will tell you
this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The entire Education System should be disbanded!!
Its dividing the country at the cost of humans lives.

Its always the same old saying:
The cancerous system begins with the
    people who implement it.

Im not blaming the person now holding this post,
its the FOUNDATION and PLATFORM, that whoever step in will inevitably maintain or make it worst for the rakyat.

My friends daugther who’s in Primary were given assignment
to researched – What are the benefits of Islam?
What ‘insensitive’ morons this particular teacher is.
Such question should be ask in Mosque or Suraus within
their own kind and young minds, Isn’t it?

‘Every religious question must be based on General terms
and inclusive of all religion.’ You don’t need rocket scientist
to figure this out. But surely it takes a political morons or
ill educated katak to implement this sort of subjects.

Shouldn’t it be: Whats the benefit of believing in God?

No wonder some of our friends here are against involving
religion stuff in school. Its dangerous!! Thats how jihad and
hatred school are also being train.

I feel angry and cheated as a Malaysian, how our young children
are being taught as ‘Slaves” 2nd citizens, and we serve a mightier Race called Malays or Islam. Bloody h#$@#!!,
This is unacceptable at any degree.

If left uncheck, we are aiming for more disastrous outcome,
and all these, is the doing of the Goment who pretends to
humble, talk about Unity, talk about tolerence, talk about
good mix of races,.. Its the exact Opposite when it comes to Implementation.

Pls God, We thank you for bringing in this New Government without anymore delays, you loved the people of Malaysia too and we trust You will bring justice, in this country today!
    Thank you God.

  8. National unity is dead and gone if we leave it to these umno-backed goons to continue to poison our children’s mind.

Every second of delay in sending them for re-education is every second lost for our country.

    Say NO! to racial politics!

  9. 1. UMNO/najis should apologise to all rakyat and correct what BTN has done.
    2. BTN should be disbanded
    3. Noordin should be reprimanded as supreme racist by sacking him
We, nonmalays, demand no less or no more. Or wait till 916 for PK to reverse course

  10. 5 days of indoctrination. What is it that they hope to see or achieve at the end of the 5 days? What can they achieve?

    Nothing. Absolutely nothing!

The 5-day programme however did expose the true size of umno’s pea-brain and the enormity of their political insecurity.

The 5-day programme would certainly drive the divide between races wider.

  11. Already there had been a few reports in the National Service Training Program about groups of Malay trainees taken to bullying non Malay trainees in their training camps. This is to be expected coming out from the current rotten education system. And now we have this BTN thing staffed by fanatical racists emphasising their Malay supremacy over the rest of the other ethnic citizens.
YB KIT if you ask that great pretender Najis he will not even say that even if there is such a thing it is only done by a small percentage of staff spoiling the name of the group. He will tell you straight that the government does no such thing, not like the usual kind of answer the mamak used to tell people …”Yeah, it is only a small number spoiling the name of the police force.” is standard answer given by mamak if asked about corruption or abuse of power in the force.
YB KIT, I think it is probably better if you can find other means to get more information and the kind of staff and indoctrination they disseminate to students and run them to the ground.

  12. For MCA and Gerakan, all they want is apology from UMNO for making racist statement, then they felt like they have achieved something big deal like protecting the minority races. MCA, Gerakan and MIC are always pretending to be blind, mute and deaf when it comes to issues like BTN, for years, can’t they do the right thing for once?

  13. This is the reason why now non-malays in Malaysia have to fight for equal rights this time around with the new Pakatan Rakyat formation. Should we again allow us to be placed as second is a crime against our ancestors born and bred in Malaysia as well as condemning our generations to come. Just check the amount of contributions of EPF from the non-malays and also how much of the billions from the new budget comes from the sweat and blood of millions of non-malays. We have no problem sharing wealth with all Malaysians but to share them and still be oppressed, this can’t be right! If US can accept a black to be their president, Malaysians have no problem having non-malays rotating the rooster as the PRIME MINISTER of Malaysia.

  14. More than tens of thousands have gone through this whether by BTN or not. UiTM and its predecessor iTM has done hundreds of thousands.

I managed to catch a discussion on TV with among others the vice chanceller of UiTM. After a whole bunch of discussion the VC blames the disunity with on vernancular primary schools. The man confuses education with indoctrination.

Yes you can indoctrinate the weak minded through the educational system, but its a perpetuation of weak minds and hence ultimately contradicts education itself. If education succeed then indoctrination itself will fail, if indoctrination succeed then education fails.

Such simply logic seems to be beyond these folks including our top leaders.

  15. Now one can understand why the brain drain is destined to continue. And continue till such blatant discrimination and utter stupidity is abolished totally and universal meritocracy takes its place. Only the weak, insecure and incompetent will subject young minds to such indoctrination. As a taxpayer, I am totally outraged with the misuse of my hard earned money. As a voter, I vote for reform and change. As a human being, I feel sorry for the young people who have to put up with such garbage. They should not have to in a better civil society.

  16. And all these “silence” on the part of the government and BN gives these idiots the right to violate citizen rights of other races! It is also an admission by the government that the drawing up of the RUKUNEGARA and setting up of the Kementerian Perpaduan Negara is nothing but a “SMOKE SCREEN” to blind the people of Malaysia!

  17. Dear All,

The remark by Dato Ahmad Ismail was extremely hurtful to the Chinese and Indians, many of whom are fourth or fifth generations living in Malaysia after their forefathers before them. I have a friend whose great grandfather was born in Malacca in 1824 and going by any standard the man should had been accorded as Malaysian long before the many Indonesians who are now in possession of MY Card and behaving as if the country owes them a living. Well, this type of comment doesn’t bode well with the spirit of Merdeka and togetherness as Malaysians. Come Sept, 16, we will be celebrating another round of Merdeka as many would expect public holiday be declared in Pakatan Rakyat held states. The reality is that we haven’t mature above racial politics. The feeling of playing racial politics in order to gain political mileage is so deeply rooted to the extent that politicians outright refuse to say sorry. Sorry is just a simple word but uttering it in public would bring about shame and possibly political disaster as well.

Many would concur that UMNO felt betrayed by the Chinese and Indians in the last general election. All component parties from BN returned with dismal performance and they were quick to respond that the arrogance of UMNO was mainly to be blamed. Certain UMNO leaders may have reconciled with the fact that their arrogance could have severely hit the non-Malays and since Pakatan Rakyat came along promoting equality, the non-Malays deserted BN. But then again, you have hard core UMNO warlords who think the non-Malays owe them a living and by not voting BN is a treacherous act and should be disciplined by any account. They could also feel that if the non-Malays are left off the hook they will continue to question and be bolder the next time around.

It is sad that we have yet to mature above this. The truth hurts but it has to be said out loud and clear. It was very nice of Dato Seri Najib to apologise on behalf of Dato Ahmad but the remark by Pak Lah that the Dato Ahmad was merely jesting around was rather uncouth. Presumably, Pak Lah knows that the warlords in UMNO is vital for his survival.

  18. Immediately after March 8, when bro Kit Siang suggested to DAP to boycott the swearing-in ceremony, big hoo-ha came, he was called ‘derhaka’ and he apologized.

Then the Karpal Singh issue came and he was challenged by UMNO, DPM, PM, Home Ministry, A-G, the Police, and even the Royals.

But when the time came for UMNO to cause derhaka and chant racial slur,
    a. it was in the heat of the moment thing and so it was alright.
    b. they didn’t meant what they said, so it was alright.
    c. they spoke as an individual and does not represent the party, so it was ok.
    d. try not to think too much about it
    e. I’ll make sure that he won’t say it again.

Remember Mansion-king ZAKARIA, Penang-demo-king AZHAR, Terengganu UMNO, Perlis UMNO vs Sultan issue, the Racist teacher, Bar Council forum demo-racist UMNO gang (incl. PKR’s Zulkifli), etc.

PM came to support them and absorb whatever criticism there was out there. Then DPM, Home Minister, and other UMNO leaders came out to do the same. THEY ALL GOT AWAY SCOTT-FREE AND IT HAS DIED DOWN SINCE.

So how are the police going to book them when the Leaders are all supporting them? So they’ll just lie low for a while and wait for the tide to go away.

Remember, the seditious act only works for the opposition, not UMNO.

  19. I believe Najis, during his school / college days, was already deeply indoctrinated with concepts such as racial supremacy, racial pride and racial gratification. Otherwise, he would not have been able to come up with the BTN course – he must have got the influence and “aspiration” from somewhere. To catch the culprit, DAP may have to trace back to the period when Najis was still a student.

  20. I cant resist this little diversion.

Star Online today, 4 Sept 2008, reported on the decision to pick USM as apex university.

The report quoted the garment’s view on “why University of Malaya was not chosen despite being the best university in Malaysia”.

“Khaled said the method used by the Times Higher Education Supplement does not necessarily mean the higher ranked universities are better.”

In other words, our universities are actually as good if not better than Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Princeton, MIT, NUS, HKU etc etc.

UiTM grads direct your job application letters to NASA now.

  21. I would like to mention that this sad division actually starts from primary school. Parents, if you notice the information requested from Ministry of Education(MOE) for “Sistem Maklumat Murid” to be input/update into a computerised database system, under the category of religion, there is only two choices available, namely, 1.Islam or 2.Non-Islam. For the non-Islam, they are require just to write their religion in the given underlined empty space, which I doubt will be inputed into the computer system. This is because most of the inputs are number coded to facilitate faster updating, as all computer input are column based.

Is it MOE is subscribing to the current government agenda of segregation? You have “akal”, decide for yourself.

Parents, please ask to see the form for yourself when the next update comes around from your children.

  22. According to its website, this racist organization is under the Prime Minister’s Dept. In other words, the buck stops at the PM’s desk.

This is not the first time the racist indoctrination activities of this organization has been highlighted. Eminent personalities has repeatedly criticize its activities and the danger it pose to nation building. Since the buck stops at the PM’s desk, he should personally look at this problem immediately. If he can find time to take the trains to find out the transportation problems, he should also be able to find time to investigate this even more important problem because it has a serious impact on nation building and the nation’s future. These are the cream of the nation’s future and to destroy their young minds with hate and racial poison is the worst form of national treachery. And if the PM does nothing about it despite BTN being directly under his watch, history will judge him as having set in motion the destruction of this nation.

In the first place, I wonder why and what we need the BTN for. The children already have 11 years of normal schooling and an additional two years of pre university. Besides their Moral Studies done at secondary school level, the students are further required to do Moral Studies while in pre U. Some of them have also gone to NS training. after all these would the 5 days of BTN indoctrination make any difference? If it did, we would not have the problem of non returning JPA scholars. So is BTN then just a “shiok sendiri” program to satisfy the racist tendencies of those who walk in the Corridors of Power? Are they so insecure that they need to run programs like these to reassure themselves repeatedly that they are leaving no stones unturned to poison the young minds?

Anyway, those JPA scholars are clever kids and would know what is right and wrong. By trying to force disgusting untruths down their throats would only further alienate them.

  23. Good morning YB,

I believe Najib’s apology should be accepted in good faith and we should stop harping on it.

Also, I am hardly offended by the “pendatang” label.

In a democracy, everyone is free to express their opinions. If comments are stupid, I just ignore them and move on.

Perhaps the Chinese or the DAP is being too touchy on this issue just like how some non-Muslims complain on Muslims’ touchiness when Islam are attacked or Malays’ when their race is perceived to be attacked or belittled.

Also, has Zulkifli Noordin been chastised? Party disciplinary action for the Bar Council forum debacle? Why point fingers at UMNO when PAkatan can’t even keep the UMNO clone — PKR — in check.

Lastly, I hope to hear your views on the ethics of party-hopping among elected representatives. If 30 over UMNO MPs hop over to PKR/Pakatan, won’t Pakatan effectively be UMNO? How is Pakatan/DAP now an alternative to the anti-UMNO votes?

    Thanks.

    Warmest regards,
    Jed Yoong

  24. All right thinking Malaysians please stand up and fight official sanctioned racism. We are already seen as one of the most racist (if not the most ) country in the world. The only people gaining from this insidious indoctrination programmes are the Umnoputras and their lapdogs. Take alook at Zambawie, used to be one of the richest country in Africa. Racism has now reduced its people to abject poverty and only their political elites prosper.

We have to rely on a new govt to dismantle all forms of racism in our country. Fighting racism is part and parcel of the agenda of PR. This country of ours is build upon the sweat and blood of all the races and not just one race. You can distort history but facts and truth will prevail one day.

  25. The letter from the parents of this child, exposed the rot of racialism going to its core…only an amputation, can remove this ‘dangerous disease’. Tainting young minds with hate, only UMNO is capable of doing. This proves, racialism is the corner stone of BN’s policies. What happened to the component parties, MCA, MIC and GERAKAN, this indoctrination course by JBA has gone on for awhile, why the silence?
PM’s Merdeka message of solidarity was purely to cater for foreign audience and laughable, by all Malaysians.

  26. i dont know what to say………..why must be so racist? they even forget the basic foundation of religion which is love……..love everyone and everything equally………….then i agree you are religion…………..if u are frequent to temple, church or even mosque btu still hate another human being as they are different race then i think no point of calling urself as hindus, buddhist, christians and muslims.

    http://www.chrislovepeace.blogspot.com

  27. If BTN is so good, why not the govt also get all the institutes (private & govt) of higher learning to teach this to foreign students, and let these foreigners share our unique BTN indoctrination course !.

  28. YB Kit Siang,

    YB Kit Siang,

Terima Kasih

  29. it is truly sad that racism is institutionalised in this country. long before these JPA scholars are being indoctrinated with racism, the chinese were indoctrinated the same too to just keep their heads bowed before the tuan. i was a victim of such too when i was young. being indoctrinated that we are living in someone else land and must therefore submit. guess who did that to me? MCA!!!

i recounted a certain part of my life in my blog regards racism institutionalised.

    http://terangbulannegaraku.blogspot.com/2008/09/racism-institutionalised.html

  30. YB Kit, not revamp but BTN should be totally abolish.Using taxpayers money to satisfy their selfish interest. Majority of Government servants have attended such courses but mostly are Malays and not that I know of any non Malays, so You know la… why our government organizations are weak and to a certain extent deplorable and they are being use to be tools of a political party. It is just people do not want to talk about it and it is about time we have to banish this BTN and their proponents from the surface of this nation.

  31. A big thank you to YB LKS for exposing another example of BN hypocrisy.Don’t ever believe their lies about racial harmony, unity and all such craps.Their agenda is always to divide and rule. They are the real crooks and devils of this once beautiful land. The faster they disappear from the political landscape of this country, the better.

  32. Come on, we’ve been living here for 51 years. In the narrow streams of grey matter in the Malay brain, there IS no room for other races. It we were to compete on a level playing field, they would cry in shame at their ineptness.

This indoctrination happens EVERYWHERE. In my daughter’s first year in school, the HM announced that they would introduce Arabic classes which were not compulsory for non-Malays. However, NO permission form would be issued and if non-Malay parents objected to their children participating, then they were to write in officially to request exception.

The following year, NO mention was made that parents could write in to request exception. Although the non-Malay children were segregated during the Arabic lesson (they would normally be taken to the library) for the first year, in the second year, they were not. They sat on one side of the class while the Malay children were seated on the other side. On many occasions, the non-Malay children were instructed NOT to read any book or chat. They were to sit quietly or lay their heads on the table. Now, any fool will tell you what is happening. Our non-Malay children are quietly absorbing NOT only the Arabic language lessons, but ALSO the elements of Islam that goes hand-in-hand with the Arabic syllabus. Frequent reminders to segregate the children meet with the same response. They do it for 2 weeks, then the children just sit in class again.

So you see, non-Malay parents shudder in fear to hear this sort of thing and so they send their children to vernacular schools, which only serve to widen the racial gap.

The Malays in general are sooooo insecure and backward that the ONLY way they can compete with other races is to manipulate situations to suit them.

  33. Unless Malaysia change to being a better place for all citizen, then what we can expect from our next generation is brain drain. Yes that is true as a father, I encourage and prepare my child to leave and seek better opportunities elsewhere.

  34. Why such a rasist statement ?
Because he think only certain people can become rich.

Why only certain people to be rich ?
Bacause they see others became rich.

Why only rasist statement cause them to be rich ?
    So NEP can be maintained.

Why NEP is important to him ?
So he can support corruption and bought land without paying.

MCA and Gerakan is a damn traitor for failing to promote the advantage of a modified merit system without sacrifice the poor but continue choose to barking like a dog on NEP and selfishly be the culprit to the corruption as reported in the public audit report .

  35. I saw on TV3 that the police will be investigating the case but perhaps they should have acted sooner.
    Waiting for political clearance?

Meanwhile we should not lose track of the latest draconian law – the DNA Act.
This will be the Mother of ALL Draconian Laws.
Even if the IPCMC is fully implemented it is still going to be the APEX Law that can “fix” anyone.

Anyone created a anti-DNA Law Petition? We must sign it and also tell our MP he/she will never get elected if he/she votes for this law.
    http://malaysiawatch3.blogspot.com/2008/09/we-must-heed-malaysiakinis-dire-warning.html

  36. Just cannot tahan, but to reiterate many more times.
The result of today’s racial issues is a DIRECT results
of MCA, Gerakan, MIC who cheated the Rakyat that
they stand for the ppl they represent.
The only time they ever stand up is when they have
haemorrhoid or piles in their as#.
    Reasons: Overfed and Inactive.

  37. The great Abraham Lincoln did away with slavery and racialism a long time ago. This great man could only emerge from a great education background whether it was religious teaching, family values or his wisdom.

The Malays in Malaysia in general know that they have no match against the Chinese civilisation and mental development. That is why they want to uphold the only valuable psychological power they possess. With this flawed mentality their outlook towards other races in Malaysia is biased.

So whatever things they do they will try to hide these weaknesses and project their psychological power. They will try to indoctrinate the Malays and separate them from other races. In this way they will always feel supreme. Unfortunatley this denial state will not bring them out of the doldrums and face global competition. They are heroes within their confines.

  38. can you pls mail this letter to me so that I can forward it to all my friends.
hell, they spent rm600 million a year (and rising) for the national service program under the pre-text of national integration. and there you are, an insidious program on racism which runs contrary to national integration.
this govt deserves to be kicked out and come next election, please vote with even your feet against this government.

  39. Thanks a lot Freddy Says:

Read your write up and Im touch because my brother and I too was subjected to this oppression treatment many years ago.
I felt a sense of ‘vindication’ now and also sadness because there are many more of these cases not documented.

Highly recommended folks to go read this too from freddy
    http://terangbulannegaraku.blogspot.com/2008/09/racism-institutionalised.html

One day, someone will document these dark ages of Malaysia with many more stories added including the Indians and then the country shall walk proud that Non-Malays once stood against Mighty evils and continue to be as patrotic, no less than the ‘Pretenders’ and to help develope and progress in this land called Malaysia, – Our Home.

  40. Pakatan Rakyat must put this concern as a top priority in its list of essential reforms. We all know that such racist discrimination by BN does not begin and end with the ‘education’ system alone but has been institutionalised into every form of Malaysian way of life. How unfortunate, shortsighted, and damning to all present and future generations!
Will the day come when a person filling out a gomen form in Malaysia cannot find the box with RACE on it? That will be the day when Malaysia can claim to have truly come of age!

  41. Dear Uncle Kit,

A similiar course was conducted recently for all government servants supposedly in the name of “perpaduan”. The said seminar happened in Selangor of which my wife’s colleague (a school teacher) was a participant. What you described is exactly what they went through as as well. Maybe what we know so far is just the tip of a even bigger “racist” iceberg.

  42. This is real shocking revelation and believe this could happen for sometime. for those people who wish to have their chance of studies overseas will sure keep it to themselves.

We have to look at Malaysia history in the right perspective. Without all the Malaysian we will not come to this stage. It is also because of the corrupt practices of certain politician that Malaysian will not come to this poor stage.

I try to avoid to discuss and argue issue along the racial line but yet we can’t denial the fact that the Chinese community in Malaysia has contribute to the big chunk of the nation revenue through the payments of taxes and economic success. This was a true fact whether you like it or not, yet the Chinese have been always mistaken to be the one who has rob the other race out of their living or thing like that. It is the corrupt and the wastage that have been the main culprit in robbing the nation wealth and not the Chinese.

All this kind of discrimination should stop immediate should we want to progress and move forward.

One should not close their eye and say we do not know. This incident should be investigated and those who responsible should be deal with properly.

  43. This BTN “thing” has been on going for decades. May be we find more opportune to talk about it now. Why didn’t we expose BNT’s antics earlier? May be we have no ball then, may be nobody listen then, or may be most accepted it then. So, if we want to do it, do it relentlessly; without fear or favour and irrespective of whether they are friends or foes. So my question to DAP and other PR component partiesis this: what actions are being taken against Zul Nordin? If you have no answer, please stop opening up more cans of worms. It sound so phoney.

  44. Jed Yoong,
We can accept Najib’s apology and move on. Guess what happens next? The same thing will happen again and again. This has happened in the past and it will happen again.
It’s time we put our foot down and tell them enough is enough we cannot accept anymore of this racist rhetorics branding us as pendatangs and traitors. What did we do to deserve such labels? We have to insist Ahmad Ismail apologise and be charged under the sedition act. This is to send a strong message across to all UMNOputras there’s a limit to whatever they can do or say.

  45. In the words on my young cousin, who just qualified to be a medical doctor and before being posted, was required to attend one such camp organized by BTN.

In relating his experience too, he mentioned the use of the words – Pendatang, Menumpang, be thankful of being given an opportunity to live here. Don’t question the Malay rights etc., similar to what has been highlighted here.

It was truly a disturbing experience for him and it had sown the seeds of HATRED towards the Malays – believe it or not. In such a short time at the camp, these idiots had managed to make other races hate the Malays.

Sadly, these are young people with friends of different races and religions who did not discriminate – at least until they tried to brainwash them at the camp.

    Well done, idiots!

  46. //MCA, Gerakan and MIC are always pretending to be blind, mute and deaf when it comes to issues like BTN, for years, can’t they do the right thing for once?// dawsheng
    _____________________________________
They can’t do the right thing because they just do not know what is the right thing. All the BN’s representatives from MCA, Gerakan and MIC have successfully undergone UMNO indoctrination course similar to the BTN course.

  47. I was listed for BTN course right after my SPM but i skipped it since i’ve heard a lot about BTN since my school days and i dont like it one bit. Well because i skipped it, i was not even offered a place to any university eventhough my SPM result was better than some of my friends who went overseas.

You guys can browse this blog owned by one Timbalan Pengarah BTN but he write as so called Presiden Gabungan Pemimpin Mahasiswa Malaysia. I doubt this GPMM really exist since i cant find any info about it. http://anginperubahan.blogspot.com/

  48. “In a democracy, everyone is free to express their opinions. If comments are stupid, I just ignore them and move on” – Jed says.

Sad to hear such words! While we are fighting so hard for fairness and somehow someone just gave such st*p*d comment! It is this kind of attitude that promote racism.

One of the Sarawakian so called “Penchaman” says st*p*d thing too! (Refer to Sin Chiew News, sarawak local news, 4 Sep 2008)
DONT say anything if you DONT know anything! Tolerance is not the word that should be used NOW to show Chinese’s culture.

“All right thinking Malaysians please stand up and fight official sanctioned racism…” – swipenter says. Yeah man! You are absolutely right! ALL Malaysians with the right minds should agree!

  49. Seems like the bubble of treachery, bigotry, racism, prejudice, discrimination, culture of greed, culture of supremacy, culture of holier-than-thou, religious exploitation, etc., etc. in Malaysia has burst.

Just like everything undesirable, when the limits are reached, the seams would give way, and the worms would be exposed.

Perhaps this is the dawn and tide of good things to come for all Malaysians of every colour and creed? Prayerfully and hopefully.

We Malaysians have been led by the nose for far too long. For any honourable and self-righteous person, half-truths and blatant lies must be very offensive and ought to be rejected and objected to.

Our religious and moral teachings and learning tell us that a wrong is a wrong. Even in the homes we as parents always tell our kids to be honest, honourable, industrious, respectful, and adopt certain codes of behaviour which are socially acceptable. Anything offensive are to be distanced and avoided. In short to practise integrity and accountability. One would rarely go wrong if such guidelines are adopted. In fact, such qualities and virtues are much sought after and accorded respect of the highest order anywhere, any time.

The time has come for some deep soul searching and house cleaning to be done. If the house is not in order and the personal character is not up to par, one can expect problems and troubles to occur. The intensity and severity of the consequences depend on the the size and nature of the disorders. The games and days of “hide and seek” and “hit and run” are over.

Malaysia, just like any other nations, is now at a cross road, facing the realities and consequences of the policies and practices which had been allowed to be adopted and played out in the past 50 years. Judgement days are here.

Shall we allow those policies and practices to proceed unchecked? What are the results, achievements and failures? What should be discarded? What should be refined and kept? What should be changed totally and given an overhaul? What are the new realities? What do the masses want and wish for? What were the drawbacks and shortcomings, pitfalls and blunders?

What can we do to improve the lot our children in terms of education and vocation? What are the demands and challenges that they have to face in their adulthood? What are the best options and choices? Are we doing it right and enough for them? They have to be prepared and be ready to move forward, bettering our own achievements and position.

The government of the day cannot be biased and discriminate against anyone. All must be given equal opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions. Malaysia is blessed with riches, resources and wealth enough for all. If “prosper thy neighbour” policy is to be pursued, what about our own citizenry?

Politics must not be allowed to get into the path of progress and advancement. Politicians must not be allowed to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses. Race-based policies cannot and must not be allowed to take root, let alone adopted and practised by any government agencies.

Leaders at all levels must be free from racial, communal, discriminatory, prejudicial and unacceptable conduct. Instead, a sense of equality and fairness should and must prevail.

Current events in Malaysia show that there is a drastic need to change and to take position, if necessary. The dynamics have changed. The landscape has changed. The people have changed.

The nation can ill afford to be manipulated, plundered, ill-advised, taken advantage of, misguided, divided-and-ruled by unscrupulous and unprincipled parties. It would be disastrous and calamitous to give in to political parties which are lead by opportunistic and greedy members. Parochial views must not be allowed any more. And there is no room for individual interest and avarice.

Collective and equitable policies and practices must be condoned and upheld. That is the only choice and option. And that is the hallmark justice and jurisprudence. The way towards a progressive and competitive community.

  50. correction:

Collective and equitable policies and practices must be condoned and upheld. That is the only choice and option. And that is the hallmark of justice and jurisprudence. The way towards a progressive and competitive community.

  51. As the BTN is part of the official induction for scholars, it is more serious than the racist remarks of UMNO leaders during electioneering.

UMNO’s apology can be taken as a sign that the leaders have seen the writing on the wall and changing, but too slowly and too late.

9 months ago hell could freeze over before such an apology was offered!
Meanwhile to cool tempers a little….

  52. Loliloo..

Apabila orang buka Islam nak bincang tentang Islam yang dia sendiri tak faham ( refer : Bar council forum ) kita kata BOLEH tetapi bila orang nak mempertahankan Islam kita kata Racist/Extremist. Apa hak bar council nak bincang mengenai Islam ? Sebab itulah Yb Zul marah. ITUPUN SUSAH SANGAT NAK FAHAM KA ? BILA KATA DAP CHAVINIST MARAH …TAPI KATA KAT ORANG LAIN TAK PA ? Bila YB Chone Eng cakap di parlimen dan YB Zul cuba memahamkan YB Chong Eng dia kata YB Zul Extremist. Apa ni? Double standard ka ? Bila DAP cakap, yang kita tahu / dengar hanya mempertahankan Hak Cina. Bagaimana dengan slogan Bangsa Malaysia ? Hak bangsa lain bagaimana ?

  53. Najib apologised on behalf of Ahmad Ismail. Why? Ahmad Ismail was only trying to emulate NR in front of NR during the recent by-election campaign.

Ahmad Ismail remembered that NR raised a keris way back in the 1980s and yelled some blood-thirsty words, words more chilling than what Ahmad Ismail said on that day. NR was not hauled up by MM or the polis. Inilah kepimpinan melalui tauladan!

  54. ‘As the BTN is part of the official induction for scholars, it is more serious than the racist remarks of UMNO leaders during electioneering.’. HJ Angus.

Certainly it is and if the racist remarks warrant a charge under the sedition act,the BTN indoctrination carried out on young impressionable minds should warrant the total dismantling of the programme. This is an institutionalised attempt at establishing and assuring the standing of Ketuanan Melayu, a truly disgraceful act of racism making Malaysia as perhaps the most racist state on earth today!!

  55. Salam Sejahtera, antiracist…

    Selamat hari.

  56. I suggst DAP make police report against the director of Biro Tata Negara (BTN) for sedition. There should be sufficient evidence from the teaching material of the Biro to prove that their contents are seditious.

  57. dont tell me mr c4 doesnt know abt btn’s brainwashing technics?

and this was the same story told to me by a fren’s girlfren who attended some course and was gvn the same lecture.

    these ppl shld be flogged!

  58. As promised by PR, Zul Nordin MP for Kulim to face disciplinary committee this saturday for his role in Bar Council fracas. PR walks the talk and now dont sound too phony as some detractors alleged.

  59. Why should they waste time in raising issues that will end up in antagonizing the feelings of the whole chinese community? They should instead teach their people to refrain from committing shameless perverse sexual behaviour as illustrated in the press today.Firstly a Segamat school counselling teacher was charged in court for licking the private part of his student and secondly in Kuantan a man was accused of inserting cucumber and police baton into his wife’s vagina while having sexual intercourse with her.Just imagine that……

  60. i have just came back from BTN camp.

i reassure that the content of the letter is TRUE.

however, as a non-malay, i wasnt segregated into different groups based on ethnicity but into groups with malays and non-malays.

all in all, in that BTN camp, they are promoting racial differences and indirectly asking malays to unite under UMNO.

its definitely their agenda to pollute young minds.

    from outraged BTN-ed student.

  61. This brain washing started 25 years ago and you know who started it. Next he started the Malaysia Boleh, the tallest building in the world etc, etc. Why, Malay supremacy. Any difference with Nazi Germany?

  62. Dear Uncle Lim,

Please investigate the claims made at this website regarding Biro Tatanegara (BTN) indoctrination: http://www.malaysiawaves.com/2008/07/umnos-latest-psy-war-materials-exposed.html
    Article reprinted below:

    ***********************************************

(NOTE: This is an email i received from a reader exposing the latest brain washing tricks deployed by UMNO’s apparatus called Biro Tatanegara(BTN). Mind you BTN is 100% funded by tax payer’s money)

Biro Tatanegara. Does it ring a bell? Government propaganda or honest student development programme? For those who aren’t aware of it, Biro Tatanegara or BTN for short is under the Jabatan Perdana Menteri and it has several modules which all public university students have to attend in the name of “Student Development”. On the 6th of July 2008 in UiTM Shah Alam, there were three separate talks being held under BTN with the first one being titled “Pendidikan”, second one titled “Ancaman Keselamatan Negara” and the third one titled, “Patriotisma”. Smell anything funny yet? No? Read on. You won’t even have to smell it after you are done reading this. It’ll be stuffed down your throat.

I would like to only focus on the first speaker, Dr. Idris bin Md. Noor. He was supposed to talk about education as that was the title of his speech, but the content was far different. He first went on with the usual introductions but in less than a few minutes, he suddenly touched on the forum on the discussion of social contract in Malaysia that the BAR council organized. He criticized it with all his heart, saying no one should discuss about it as it is unquestionable. Fair enough, I thought at first. Freedom of speech right? But what if he suddenly accuses the “Malay” speaker in the forum, which I’m guessing is Farish A. Noor, as a traitor to the Malay race as a whole? And while he was browsing through his files on the laptop which was projected on the big screen, it was no surprise for me that I saw files entitled “Ketuanan Melayu”. He also then went on about the Malay’s obsession with magic and ghosts, he said that it is all wrong beliefs through the perspective of Islam because if they really could use magic and other dark arts for fighting, then they should kill Karpal Singh with it.

There are so many quotable sentences, if only I could remember it all. He even said, “Kalau ular dengan India depan mata, ketuk India dulu.” He then started to become more impassioned in his speech towards the end, like someone campaigning for a political seat yet failed, and resorted to a multi-purpose hall with bumiputra students. He said so many atrocious things that I will list them down in point form.

-Explained how the Malays aren’t racist but others are racist towards us.
-Bangsa Malaysia does not exist, neither does Malaysian Chinese and Indians, only in the strict Malay, Chinese and Indians. (Interestingly, behind a booklet provided to us, one of the objectives of the programme is to produce a -“Bangsa Malaysia”. Obviously, he was ignorant).
-Bahasa Malaysia does not exist, it is Bahasa Melayu.
-Nothing wrong with waving the Keris.
-Bumiputra hanya 55% di Malaysia, give birth more people!
-The University and Colleges Act was partly made to ensure a Malay Vice-Chancellor in Universities which should be the way.
    -Blogs are “berdosa” or sinful.
    -Christians will not like Muslims.

But that isn’t even the best part. The best part is, he showed a short film on the
dangers of Zionism and the illegal occupation of Palestine which was probably the only part of the speech I agreed with and I thought to myself this could be the only fact of the speech but surprise, surprise, at the end of the film, there was a montage of so-called Zionist supporters with the pictures of Anwar Ibrahim, Tian Chua, Teresa Kok, Hishamuddin Rais and Ezam Md. Nor. Then a question popped up in my head. Is Ezam still a Zionist supporter since he is in UMNO now? Does that mean the government has a Zionist supporter as well as the opposition? And expectedly, the speaker was being more anti-semitic than anti-zionist. He even explained how the Pakatan Rakyat ruled states are all going down the drain and he says, “this is what you get if you vote for the opposition!” He criticized Anwar Ibrahim and his colleagues so much along with Pakatan Rakyat while being completely oblivious towards Barisan Nasional’s mistakes. As if they have perfect policies.

This was supposed to be a speech touching on education and look how it ended up. It did not even smell anything of education. It was a speech that was not meant for national unity at all. How could it be when you spread hate? I could only sit and ponder quietly while all this was happening. But the speech was not the saddest part. The saddest part was that the majority of students in the hall were cheering him on. I will type out part of the lyrics that were supplied to us, entitled, “Warisan”.

    Anak Kecil main api
    Terbakar hatinya yang sepi
    Air mata darah bercampur keringat
    Bumi dipijak milik orang

    Nenek moyang kaya raya
    Tergadai seluruh harta benda
    Akibat engketa sesamalah kita
Cinta lenyap di arus zaman ini

    Indahnya bumi kita ini
    Warisan berkurun lamanya
Hasil mengalir ke tangan yang lain
    Pribumi merintih sendiri

    Melayukan gagah di nusantara.

Who were those words referring to? Foreign powers or non-malays?

Perfect welcome to the new intake of University Students. Please spread this to others. People need to know.

    I know you should.

  63. and about reporting this to the police as sedition is impossible.

its true that we have given teaching materials. but in the end, those materials were collected and we were ask to merahsiakan everything have been taught in BTN.

  64. Comments from the blog posting above:

    Anonymous said…
A friend of mine was of those who was there that day. He’s a native from Sabah, a Christian and the first sentence he said when he met me (after the BTN) was “Saya sedih” (I’m sad).

He went on saying that he never heard of anything like this his whole life in Sabah.

Besides all that was mentioned in the post, he said that the saddest part for him was when the speaker starts lowering his voice and said “Orang Kristian tak pernah suka orang Islam” (The christians never like the muslims). He explained to me that in church people would pray for the well-being of the muslims especially those who in trouble and for unity and peace.

He addded that the Pendidikan Moral should as well be abolished from schools if this continues. “What happened to Atan, Ali and Muthu?, because that is what kept us (in Sabah) together despite having different races in the same class or anywhere. No wonder people from the semenanjung like Sabah, Sarawak”.

He went on, “Hatred should never be planted into the hearts of the people in order to have progress and to be competetive. I never hated the jews but i’m against the zionist. But he speaks as if we should kill all jews. I’ve never even felt the urge to hate another race. Maybe pendidikan moral should be compulsory to all including muslims because majority present that day were agreeing to what the speaker said.”

Being a person aware of the issues in this country, I listen to him attentively and said that this is all the government’s propaganda of which he should not in any way get influenced. I know him, and he is also aware of all of this government stuff, but he still felt shocked and sad and ashamed (on behalf of the malays) to have and educated speaker to talk like that.

I’m a malay and i’m used to hearing my fellow malay friends saying these speeches are fiery and good although i know that these speeches are one of the many obstacles from unity and it’s just another lame way for the gov to spread its propaganda. But it striked me when another person who is not of the Chinese, Indian and Malay came to comment about it.

This should not continue because i haven’t attended BTN yet. I don’t want to waste my time listenng to all this. I prefer Ali, Muthu and Atan. Just like one of the best pendidikan Islam class i had… the one i didn’t attend because i sneaked into the pendidikan moral class.

  65. Obviuosly, the rot is more than skin deep! This racist BN indoctrination has been going on for decades. It needs more than a sea change and years to cleanse the nation of this illness just like it will take years to eradicate the education rot, the judicial malaise etc. etc.

  66. another thing to add on,

i think why speeches in BTN were agreed by most participants is because of fear of revoking their scholarship.

do you know that BTN is a pre-requirement for students to study overseas? you cant fly if you do not pass BTN camp.

BTN camp have assessments. objective and subjective. objective part is 60 questions. as for subjective marks, it is given by the faciliatators and is on their will.

i HAD to agree to everything they say even you are not. not worth it to fight them with their fingers on my neck.

  67. This bunch of hypocrites shouldn’t be loose.
That was i suspect from previous post, they might start plotting choas if they loose their power and comes state of emergency for take over!.

I really hope some student would have recored a vids as evidence,
This is serious matters, YB Kit should look into.

Must not let this culprits ruin the young minds for the sake of their own gain.

  68. BTN is actually umno’s unique way of showing us how silly, no STUPID, they are.
The way it was done is stupid.
The content of the whole thing is stupid.
    The speakers are stupid.
I mean how else can they do it except in the stupidest way conceivable.
    “Stupid” is their middle name.
I am glad to know that at least a sizeable number of malays in the country decided to distance themselves from umno.
Its a good thing for them to have done.
Dont associate yourself or get yourself associated with umno.
I mean would a certain Ahmad be proud to introduce himself as “I am an umno member and so my name is Mr Ahmad Stupid Abdullah”.
No way. No sensible malay would want that.
Ask around among our malay friends.
They are not stupid and the last thing they would wish for is to be seen as stupid or described as one.
After all these, I realise that if one were to look hard enough (I did) one may see a strange connection of sorts between these two words:
    “UMNO” and “STUPID”.
    Need I say more.
Oh yes I need to add one final point. Malays not stupid. Its stupid umno.

  69. Im studying in one of the IPTA.Our Uni made it compulsory for us to attend the BTN camp by telling us that if we dont attend,we will not graduate from the Uni.On the other hand,My friend in UMS doesnt even know what the heck is BTN camp. It’s not like what my Uni told us, Compulsory.so it’s like we are being drag into a BN’s political plot.

The camp is a pro- BN campaign (everyone in the camp Malay,Chinese and Indian knows it )and also a racism camp . The speaker talk about the social contract, about the hak keistimewaan melayu, how May 13 happen,NEP,The 12th General election and so on.And also, quite a few times, mention ‘Cina boleh balik China tapi Negara China pun tidak mahu terima.Sama juga dengan orang India’ sort of statement.

One of the speaker even mention your name Mr Lim,saying you are Bodoh, and also mention about Anwar-Saiful case, how Anwar will do to the country if he gains power, and ofcourse the still undergoing by election.Unfortunately all of our handphone were taken away by the facilitator, so no voice or video are recorded.

Ofcourse among the participant, some of the Malay agree with the speaker but quite a number of the Malay doesnt and definitely no Chinese and Indian are please with the speaker.

This BTN camp which i went to, has more to do with politic rather than about the races.I din gain anything from the camp except more dissapointment with the current government. IT’s a waste of time and money of the people to organise this kind of camp.and again What the heck does Biro Tata Negara do?

  70. Ahmad Ismail has said tht he would not apologize. The Cabinet decided that he should. One wonders whether the Cabinet could do anything to Ahmad for not apologizing.

As a UMNO Division Chief, he might have something to lose if he is a member of the state government. But Penang is under Pakatan governemnt, so he has lost all, and nothing left to lose. On the contrary, he does control some votes which somebody fighthing for UMNO party position is dying to get. It appears that UMNO local leaders are getting more powerful when they are not in state government, and the UMNO higherups are more dependent on them than the other way around. So President AAB will have to start apologizing on behalf of local UMNO leaders.

Well we know AAB never meant what he said, and we believe that he will not mean what he is about to say now. That may be the reason why Najib takes over the role to apologize. Has Najib taken over the power, like his father during the last days of Tunku’s Administration?

  71. It’s already hard for a non-malay to be accepted into BTN. Even so, they had to endure disgusting speeches.

Don’t they even feel shame by uttering such shameful words from their mouth? I bet not as they thought they are superior, so superior that nothing that they do or say is wrong.

People should really come to Sabah or Sarawak to see how different races live peacefully together. The difference is huge.

  72. just now TV news, Ahmad Ismail said he wont apology and said jika dia berbuat demikian, it only “jaga hati org cina, tapi melukai hati melayu”, what kind of such statement? then he said Gerakan and MCA all lose in Penang seats, but 11 UMNO seats won and he will stand by his statement

any stren action can be taken? Pak Lah and Cabinet urged him to apology, is he the king of this country?

  73. If the Bukit Bendera UMNO branch chief is the role model for his party members, then Malaysia may descend into political disaster.

There is simply no room for an egoistic and self-important politician in multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia. All right thinking Malaysians of all colour and creed cannot accept such a parochial and confrontational approach towards society at large. A leader is a leader to all, and not to just a specific segment of society. This is expected of all leaders and aspiring leaders, no matter their political affiliations, with no exceptions.

A man who finds it so difficult to extend a humble apology even if warranted, is no man for a leader.

There seems to be no integrity, humility, dignity, accountability in words and action emanating from the man himself.

Arrogance and self-importance are offered instead.

Not that the people cannot accommodate reason and chose to be unreasonable, but if explanations are not forthcoming, one cannot be blamed for making a judgement.

  74. I am glad you have brought up this issue which I have commented on with regard to the UMNO racists. MCA knows about it but nothing was done. I have complained to party leaders many years back.

I am still hoping to hear some good news come tomorrow morning. MCA, MIC and Gerakan walk out on UMNO. But maybe I can only dream about it tonight. Liow has just clenched his fist and said he would lick UMNO’s balls. Crazy doctor also said he would lick UMNO’s ass.

The leaders of these parties have so much at stake that they are not willing to give up this ATM machine. Luckily, I threw away my MCA membership card last year.

  75. MCA+Gerakan+MIC are dead. They claim to be defenders of chinese/Indian rights but in truth they where just colluding with UMNO for scraps of rewards.

The only reason why non-malays supported them was because they did not want to be branded as anti-development and traitors and wanted their communities to remain within the good graces of the ruling government. For their communities would suffer from UMNO if UMNO felt that they had been ‘betrayed’ by the pendatang non Malays.

If PR is able to form the government what would the likes of MCA be able to offer? MCA has offered nothing substantial to the chinese community except claiming to fight for more ‘representation’ (whatever that means).

  76. The Earth Charter
In order to build a sustainable Bangsa Malaysia community, the nation must renew their commitment to the Constitution of Malaysia, fulfill their obligations under existing agreements, and support the implementation of the Bangsa Malaysia Charter principals with a legally binding instrument of development. We must all affirm faith in the inherent dignity of all human beings and the intellectual, artistic, ethical, and spiritual potential of humanity. In other words, faith in man rather than religious faith.

  77. There is only 1 race in this planet & that is the HUMAN RACE. If Datuk AI feels that he is more superior than the HUMAN RACE, then he is a threat to the HUMAN RACE. He certainly does not belong to Earth. He has not only offended Chinese community, what about those who are of mix parentage ie Chinese & Malay. There are also many Chinese by blood but brought up by Malay family.

I have to say that the “pendatang” is proud to be “pendatang”. The “pendatang” is welcomed in any parts of the world. The “pendatang” always contribute to the economy of any host country in the world. The “pendatang” is the world’s largest population. The “pendatang” has contributed many technologies the world is using today. The “pendatang” created goodwill all over the world since the first dynasty, more so with the famous Chinese Muslim Cheng Ho.

Ever wondered why there was HANG Lipo & then HANG Tuah, HANG Jebat, HANG Kasturi, HANG Lekir? Ever wondered why the Malacca Sultanate thrived during the 14th & 15th century? Malacca was under the protection of the Chinese Emperor. HANG Lipo & her 4 body guards were sent to Malacca as a goodwill to the then Sultan Mahmud Shah (…hope someone can correct me if wrong…).

Where was Parameswara when Cheng Ho was sailing around the world in the 14th & 15th century? Historical evidence already appear that the “pendatang” circumnavigated the world. Read the book 1421 by Kevin Menzies. This “pendatang” is a MUSLIM, of Persian origin born in China, trusted by the Emperor. The Emperor was not a racist. Neither was he a world conqueror.

I think Datuk AI should go back to pre-school all over again & get his history right about the “pendatang”.

I don’t care if I am Chinese, Malay or Indian. I am proud to be a “pendatang” of Malaysia. The only people that are not “pendatang” are the ORANG ASLI. I don’t see any of those features on Datuk AI. DNA test anyone?

  78. MCA, MIC and Gerakan have swindled the peoples money in the name of the race and groups they represented. They do not deserve a second chance at anything. The people have voted them out and they should stay out or dissolve to oblivion. Sometimes one can compare inhumane characteristics to the late dictatorial leaders to that of these parties. They were all interested in personal wealth…people like samy vellu still does not get it, how dumb could you become or perhaps to word it right how ignorant can one get it disregarding the peoples voice of voting him and his party out. Why has a human such as him have absolutely no shame, one arguement would be he has been in power too long and desensitized in feeling shame nor guilt.
Enough said about these useless leaders, all they deserve is public humiliation and rebuke!!!!

  79. We have 3rd world mentality ministers. With millions if not billions in the bank account & political power, guilt & shame is like toilet paper to these people. Poor people are treated like dirt while they sing to be their protectors. How many of our previous & current ministers are having world class education background? Our PM don’t even have a clue about DNA.

  80. Malaysiakini has reported YB Lim’s expose on BTN and published the anguished parent’s letter in its entirety. Let’s see what the response from PM and DPM are. Or will there no response hoping the issue will blow away?

Malaysiakini is a mainstream media in its own right. BTN has been exposed along with the complicity of MCA, MIC & Gerakan.

    Another nail in BN’s coffin.

“I believe Najib’s apology should be accepted in good faith and we should stop harping on it.

Also, I am hardly offended by the “pendatang” label.

    _____________

    Jed,

As Ahmad Ismail is a community leader for UMNO Bukit Bendera, don’t you think he ought to be more responsible with his public statements?

He didn’t just say that all Chinese are immigrants. If that’s all he said, then, I would agree it’s obviously nonsensical, and not worthy of response.

However, he also said all Chinese are squatters. He further added, all Chinese do not deserve equal rights and treatment.

Do you find this acceptable and the rights of other minority groups not worthy of defending? Personally, I condemn Ahmad Ismail’s behaviour, and I don’t want to see this repeated.

As for Najib’s apology, it is obviously not genuine. “I am sorry IF it causes unhappiness …”? IF? How about admitting that it has caused unhappiness for a start, rather than IF. And how about taking remedial action to show the apology is genuine? Is it too much to ask that Ahmad Ismail apologizes in person, than this third party apology? And is it too much to ask that UMNO gives an assurance that such racist remarks to that extent will no longer be made?

How would the other races feel if the races were “reversed”? If instead of saying that Chinese are undeserving of equal rights, what if the statement applies to other races such as the Malays for an equally silly “reason” such as “The Malays are unworthy of equal rights because they are the majority”? If someone like YB LKS were to utter this publicly in a similar setting, do you think the response would have been so generous like yours?

Or imagine if we are in another country such as the US, and a senior US politician were to publicly say “Blacks are immigrants; Blacks are squatters; Therefore, Blacks are undeserving of equal rights”. What do you think will be the effects of making such a statement? I am sure you will agree that in the US, such public statements are simply unacceptable 100%. And the US politician will be publicly condemned in no uncertain terms.

It is simply wrong for Ahmad Ismail to say what he said.

The public has the right to demand for a genuine apology, from him in person.

It appears uncomfortable, but this is necessary. Otherwise, don’t be surprised if it happens again – this is what happens when the public stays silent when a wrong is committed. The crime is simply repeated when it is condoned.

  82. It goes to show that there are still many Malays who really think that Chinese do not deserve a place in Malaysia, that we are pariahs and leeches here to steal their wealth. Well, the best thing we can do, as always, is to educate and show them that we are no the enemy, we are in fact friends and allies, that working together in a mutually beneficial environment on equal ground will bring nothing but prosperity to the entire nation. There’s alot of work ahead of us, and after PR takes over the government, we should all lend them our support towards achieving this goal.

PR, 27 million Malaysians are counting on you to bring us out of the dark. Do not let us down.

  83. YB LKS and DAP must lodge a police report against BTN.Obviously the apology made by c4 is hypocritical. The whole UMNO has practised racism and discrimination against other races for decades.Ahmad Ismail is just the tip of the iceberg. There are thousands of Ahmad Ismail in the party. The form four history textbook used in schools now even contains paragraghs belittling other races as immigrants sucking on the national wealth.I hope YB can take note of this and expose another example of Bn hypocrisy.

  84. So we Malaysians are finally aware of BN’s secret for staying in power for over 51 years. This is their survival strategy and to continue perpetuating they would do more such things as the case of Ahmad Ismail.

It’s unfortunate the BN component parties still choose to stick with UMNO.

  85. That AI is just another fat ‘lintah’ and has no shame but got skin as thick as elephant’s.He really makes a lot of people puke when they learn that he was a senator and a political leader.Orang yang ada ciri-ciri macam ini pun boleh jadi pemimpin.Malaysia mana ada harapan?

  86. This is something new to me. I know that there is full of racism when my son wanted to apply for a JPA loan for his overseas studies. You will be real sick of the whole episode because when racism is seen clearly flying over your face and yet they play a game of denial. However I must admit that I did not know that they had gone to this extent and people who does this normally has a sick mind.

Our PM is just trying to deceive the non- Bumis by his words but had never match his deeds. He is in a class of Bumis who is consistently in the denial mode. If you have such leaders what can you expect the country will turn out to be, but the funny thing is that they talk like, act like and seems to be doing everything for national unity, to the extent of spending billions in the national service but of course we know why they still continue the NS in spite of many deaths and gross failure.

  87. My daughter went through this so called iduction course,as it was called, recently. She was so traumatised by the blatant racism spewed by the trainers that the first thing she wants to do is find some way to migrate! She is a professional and could not digest that such a thing was carried out as official government programme. I wish there is some way to expose this disgusting practice so that the general public can see it for what it is-perhaps a video recording a la Lingamgate.

  88. Ahmad’s ego and ignorance and senseless brain talk has already deeply hurt us no matter he is going to apologise or not. His apology is not going to make any significant difference already.
Only the lousiest leader will speak publicly like him. BIG shame on him and he should be severly punished.
He doesn’t even realized that he is wrong!
Can you imagine what kinda leader we are having in M’sia?!

  89. Hey, hello….where the hell have all of you been. UNMO has always been racist for the last 40 years. This should not be new. Just look at them, they could have called the UTK to hunt racist and dangerous people that threaten national security. Just look at UTK being called to arrest some with an allegation of rape, therefore, if they are serious, UTK these people. UNMO DOES NOT CARE ABOUT NON-BUMIS EXCEPT THAT IT IS A CASH COW.

  90. This country is doomed. It is an open secret that the UMNO government has institutionalszed racism and discrimination in every facet of life. The non-Keturunan malay is bound to be slave and oppressed. This is a sin and UMNO treated it as a glory endevour.

The only way out is a revolution (remember the book Malaysia Ticking Time Bomb?). To begin a revolution is to let the citizen know what is happenings and has a place to vent their thoughts. This stupid government is not stupid enough to one day control all internet access. Watch out.

  91. Here is a magnificent display of distortions – a serious mismatch between position and ability. Circumstances have badly blighted this person.

All too often in life, it is difficult for anyone to accept and overcome the frightening spectre of being outshone by a younger sibling.

    What a sad sight.

The older sibling, either unaware of his own deficiency or aware of it but in a state of denial, is attempting to surpass the solid achievements of the brighter but younger sibling.

In so doing, he falters … and falters badly.

He needs help. Very urgent help.

All these guys are virtually psychopaths let loose to cripple the minds of the young and impressionable. What a bad thing to do.

If it is something worth doing, they need never hide what they are doing. What they are doing goes against the collective interest of the nation. Of course, by the time they are finished, we wonder whether the nation they are serving still exists!

Shame on these so-called Malaysians engaged in unMalaysian activities. Hum kah charn.

  94. So, I gather, these activities began in 1983? This is 2008 and twenty-five years ago is 1983.

We know who the Prime Minister was at that time.

Tell me, someone, what did the Tunku say of him?

  95. YB Lim,

Can you raise the BTN indoctrination course in Parliament? Even if the speaker refuse to debate the issue, it will at least give more publicity to this matter. By the way, can anybody tell me what function do MCA, MIC and Gerakan MPs serve in Parliament other than being the rubber stamp for Umno?

  96. Tulip Crescent, Tunku said that he was going to ruin the country. How prophetic of Tunku. Underneath all the modernity we see once the veneer comes off then we realise how feudal is this country of ours. The mindset is still mired in that era.

  97. KennyGan, just like Umno enslaving the minds of the malays, MCA, MIC and Gerakan are doing likewise to enslave the minds of the Chinese and Indians; to give Chinese and Indians a false sense of legitimacy. At the same time line their pockets from the crumbs falling between the grubby fingers of Umno

  98. Due to the fact that mca does not in the least represent the country’s Chinese community, its name must be changed to make it more meaningful, for instance Malaysian Crooks Association, Malaysian Crocodiles Association, Malaysian Conmen (& Conwomen) Association, and so forth. The same goes for the MIC(Malaysian Imbeciles Congress)

  99. I was a student in the U.S. without scholarship in the 80’s. My parents worked like crazy to support me and I worked part-time (20 hrs/wk) while taking a study load of 21 credit hours (minimum is 12, normal is 15, maximum is 18) that required special approval.

On some days when I walked home with my tired body, I saw Malay students who had scholarship enjoying their lives and playing the guitar. I feel unjust considering my parents now suffer with illness due to their hardship when supporting my education.

I am now a permanent resident in the U.S., becoming one of the brains drained from Malaysia. When a Malaysian asked me about my PR status in the U.S., I told her I am a “By-Product of the N.E.P.”

Wake up UMNO…discrimination is suicidal for a country.

  100. 1. The recalcitrant behavior of Ahmad Ismail will fuel further debate on the relevance of MCA, Gerakan and MIC and for the matter BN.

    2. BN through Najib, On Ka Ting and Ong Tee Keat were working on settling the issue by Najib making an apology and MCA go on a campaign to accept the apology and put the matter to rest.

    3. Now, the fire has come back to life with his I Refuse To Apologise infamous statement. This is essential a slap on the face of MCA and Gerakan. I wonder what will these BN parties do?

    4. Depending on the bahavior of MCA and Gerakan leaders, which will be carefully monitored by the non-malay communities, these parties will loose whatever support they have.

    5. Gerakan is now talking about leaving BN. I believe this latest response from Ahmad Ismail will push itsa majority of its members to the leaving camp.

    6. MCA is talking of re-invention. There is no detail of what it means. As of now, After this outburst by Ahmad Ismail, Ong Ka Ting has place to hid his face. It strongly show his impotence.
The other leaders are too busy campaigning for the coming party election. There is no shared common vision amongst it leadership.

    7. Finally, External forces such as change in sentiments of the various communities, suppressed anger of several decades against UMNO, new political forces as well as their self serving and insular attitudes caused the diversion of earlier support to others.

All these factors now make MCA, Gerakan, MIC etc irrelavant. They can only watch events passing by. They can only react and not
    able to influence events.

  101. the remark by Ismail is indeed uncalled for. What is disappointing was the PM’s response and it took a few days later for DPM to formally apologize. Damage has been done.

On the orientation of JPA students, i am surprised with what happened. I was a JPA scholar and i did attend such orientation. But there was no such classes and discussions. Maybe they have changed the syllabus since then. If this is true, then it is deplorable that such things are allowed.

I remembered clearly that we were segregated into groups and my group comprise of Malays, chinese and indian. The crux of the team activities were to foster close working r’ship, understand each other better and self discipline and control. Of course, we did have history lessons but it was not presented so blatantly to hilite the history of immigrants but more focused on how Malaysia came about with sacrifices from our forefathers. No hilite about Malay rights etc. There was also religious talks.

So i am surprised and sad that the aim of the orientation has gone into a different perspective since then. I hope this is not true.

  102. Since most Ministers are from UMNO, they need Malay support to survive. The only way to do this is to keep playing the racial card be it indoctrination, education, chanting racial slurs etc. These are the tactics of bankrupt and desperate people who are willing to sell the country to maintain their grip on power.

They will not stop. The race card will be played by BN/UMNO time and again. Its up to the Malays if they want this to continue or say no. Obviously the former means that M’sia is doomed but the later will need more forward thinking Malays to make a change. Malaysia’s future is actually in the hands of the Malays.

  103. Relax folks, the BTN programs have being going on for many years and this has not been reflected in the last General Election and in the Permatang Pauh byelection. No matter how much the cronies want to indoctrinate the Malays it will still not work out as they wanted.

The Malays in the course of their study would have matured and interacted well and would know how wrong the BTN program was.

It is only those idiots or Donkeys that cannot move forward make use of ketuanan melayu and religious issues to score points. No matter how much they want to indoctrinate the Malays, comes the next GE, umno would be reduced to just like Gerakan and MCA.

Belajar Bahasa Malaysia baru bercakap mengenai Bangsa Malaysia.

TETAPI APA YANG PENTING ADALAH, ADAKAH DAP YANG MENGANJURKAN BANGSA MALAYSIA MEMAHI KONSEP BANGSA MALAYSIA YANG BETUL UNTUK KEADILAN SEMUA. aPAKAH CONTOH TERBAIK NEGARA BANGSA ? SINGAPURA ? ORANG MELAYU RASA TERTINDAS JUGA KAN ? CUBA TERANGKAN DENGAN LEBIH BAIK AGAR ORANG MELAYU FAHAM DAN AKAN MENYOKONG PKR DAN DAP. APA YANG TERJADI SEKARANG ORANG MELAYU RASA TERGUGAT JIKA TANAHAIR MEREKA DIPERINTAH OLEH ORANG BUKAN MELAYU.

  106. TDM has written in his blog that Ahmad Ismail needs not apologize. So TDM thinks exactly like Ahmad Ismail, and it was the misfortune of Malaysia that he had been the PM for 22 years. He used racist strategy to gain power in UMNO, and he hijacked it for his own power and enjoyment 1972 when he was rehabitated by Razak in 1972. Now, after having polarized the country and having brought it to the brink of destruction, he is using the race card once again to support his son who is running for the position UMNO youth.

TDM said that he would migrate if Anwar becomes the PM of Malaysia. We have witnessed how TDM had singlehandedly destroyed Malaysia. For the good of the country, TDM should not be in this country. Anwar would be serving the country by making TDM leave. Whatever other benefits Anwar brings as PM are bonus.

  107. BUKANKAH SEMUA INI PEMBUATAN DIBAWAH PIMPINAN BN SEHINGGA KINI, ITU ADALAH BUKTI PENAFIAN BANGSA NEGARA DEMI KEUNTUNGAN DIRI DAN BUKANNYA MEMIHAK RAKYAT!

PKR HANYA MEMPERTAHAN DIRI DAN DEMOKRASI DEMI KEBENARAN.
NEGARA INI TELAH DIJUAL LAMA OLEH AHLI POLITIK DIBAWAH PIMPINAN BN, LIHATLAH SENDIRI APAKAH BUKTI NEGARA KITA YANG KIAN MENGUNDUR BERTANDING DI TARAF DUNIA, BUKANKAH ITU BENAR?

MENGAPA PEDULI SESIAPA YG MEMIMPIN, YG PENTING ITU KEBAIKAN RAKYAT BUKAN AHLI POLITIK SENDIRI YANG MEMPERMAINKAN USUL BANGSA DAN KUASA.

  113. 318 and AsalusulMalaysiaHacked,

Jika kita bercakap 50 tahun akan datang mungkin Orang Melayu boleh terima Bangsa lain jadi pemimpin. Tetapi kita bercakap soal 16 September. Orang melayu selama 50 tahun diindoktrin supaya mempercayai UMNO satu-satunya yang terbaik. Bukan senang hendak mengubah pemikiran.

  115. Kit Siang, when malays talk about malays race is racist but when chinese and indian talk about their race its not racist.Go anywhere in the world except china and india, ask yourself did you get the same treatment as malays give to your race.In Malaysia you are given everything you want, you have your own schools, universities, temples and just name it you will get it.Please remember this is Tanah Melayu and this country belong to the MALAYS,you should be thankful for getting the citizenship however if you are not happy you can leave Malaysia.

  116. OMG! This is the stuff of movies! No wonder we have a Najis exhorting the goons to wash the keris in Chinese blood in 1987. No bloody wonder we have Kerishamuddin waving the keris in threat and then waving it yet again in defiance. And no frigging wonder we have Ahmad ‘Immigrant’ who refuses to apologise. Of course it goes without saying that if this BTN indoctrination has been institutionalised for the longest time, the police investigation into ‘seditious statements’ will be an open and shut case! For sure!

OMG! WE have a FACIST government bent on creating a superior race, a ‘ketuanan Melayu’ race!

But the real question is, if this has been going on for the longest time, why did MCA and GERAKAN DO NOTHING about it? These are the supposedly ‘Chinese protectors’ of us 3rd and 4th generation born-in-Malaysia Chinese immigrant squatters! So, I must conclude MCA and GERAKAN were WILLING ACCOMPLICES to this indoctrination and division of the rakyat based on racist policies, strategies and tactics.

To MCA and GERAKAN – we the 3rd and 4th generation BORN-IN-MALAYSIA CHINESE IMMIGRANT SQUATTERS SPIT ON YOU! You are people who SOLD YOUR RIGHTS OUT for a few ringgit! You sold our rights as well as that of our children out as well when you condoned and were willing and silent partners to such facist policies!

PLEASE DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND DISSOLVE YOUR PARTIES! NOW!PLEASE JOIN AND BECOME MEMBERS OF PKR AND DAP INSTEAD! You no longer have the CREDIBILITY to speak on anybody’s behalf:

    – you have been TOTALLY rejected by the CHINESE community
    – you are irrelevant to UMNO as you are now totally castrated & impotent
    – you never had credibility or acceptance with the Malays and Indians, so all you have left are just the few tired, old and uninformed Chinese who know no better. The rest REJECT you!

You do not even understand that the Chinese voted PKR, PAS and DAP in GE12 because we NO LONGER buy your racist crap! And impotent as you are, NOTHING will come of your protest against Ahmad ‘Immigrant.’

    YOU ARE NOTHING!

Jangan menunggu lagi.

    Sekian.

  118. Sir, I urge you to raise this very serious matter in Parliament without delay. It is gratifying to know that there are Malays who cannot stomach such racist tones and who believe that all those born in Malaysia, regardless of race, have an equal place in the sun and in the running of our beloved country.

What this parent has told us is akin to the evil groups that we read of in Hitler’s regime, in Saddam’s regime, etc. Such people must be stopped! They are the ones who are preventing unity in our country. They should be charged with sedition and ISA!!

  119. Dear Senior LIM
Please do you best to get rid of BTN if it is true it is the pit of racism and a tool of the government particularly UMNOputra to preserve their status quo not that of their race or the country.
I had my own share of racist remarks from lecturers as a student in a local university and even from university lecturers who f the government for asking them to repay their study loans blah2 and said that what they have is their ‘hak’ and should be given to them. The chinese should not be given becoz they are all rich!!!!
My son applied for a JPA scholarship and got rejected. He was encouraged by his lecturer to apply for a prestigious university so that he will get a better chance. So he did on his own and got an offer in Oxford. Guess what after 2 interviews with JPA and even a recommendation from a former PM (courtesy of frens to help as I am a single widowed parent struggling with two kids for the past 12 years) Though I was a victim of the NEP I bear no grudges even if I disagree with Tun but he thought my son deserved the government support after speaking with kid. If I could afford I will definitely send him.
JPA felt it was not good enough! Didn’t give him a hearing chance too. I encouraged my two sons that their brains and curricula activities will give them better chance. But I didn’t know that now KULIT-FICATION or is it ETHNIC-FICATION is still the deciding factor in being recognised for your worth.
Thank God he got a scholarship to do his Biotech in U of Melbourne. His interest is in Biotech in stem cell technology… but I guess those JPA people feel if not your own kind you would not be able to contribute to the country… After all with now the ‘pendatang’ remark we know that this has always been their stand against us who sweated and paid taxes for this country we love.
So foreigners are more confident of our own people than our own Malaysians or should I say those racists at JPA.
So Senior LIM, do your best to get rid of this BTN and other racist institutions too, including DAP if it seems to only be interested in championing chinese rights. I feel slighted because I am English speaking like I don’t love my own kind. Don’t judge us on our language competency please.
Incidentially my son is one of the top 2 in U of Melbourne… and he will gladly return to serve his bond with the organisation that believed in him.
To all those racist idiots out there SHAME on you and trying to provoke us. We don’t have such mentality and are much stronger and proud of ourselves having survived without the need for ‘crutches’.
I bear not grudge against any race just BIGOTS, anyone OF ANY RACE WHO THINKS THEY ARE BEHOLDEN TO THE ‘KETUANAN’ OF THEIR RACE or religious zealots!!!! I will be a racist if you insult other people’s race!
