Mahathir playing racial card

Kit Siang: Leaders shouldn’t play racial card

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian leaders including those who have retired should focus on enhancing unity among the nation’s diverse communities and not play up racial issues.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said results of the March 8 polls showed that Malaysians wanted unity instead of being divided by race, religion or political creed.

“We saw voters voting as one, regardless of race and religion. We had Malays, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan voters rising above their ethnic stereotype and voting as Malaysians,” he said.

Lim said that 50 years after the nation’s independence, Malaysians should be more “Malaysian-minded” instead of retreating into their “communal selves.”

The veteran politician was commenting on former prime minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad’s remarks in Johor on Saturday that Malays stood to lose much in the new political environment where non-Malays were unafraid to make demands.

Dr Mahathir told the crowd of some 1,000 in Johor Baru that if Malays keep quiet they will lose their rights and other races will take over.

Lim said the former prime minister who had introduced the Bangsa Malaysia concept now appeared to be backtracking on his stand.

“We should be talking more about Bangsa Malaysia rather than Malay, Chinese or Indian rights,” he said.

  1. As much as this despot needs his old-age diapers, he needs a reminder that he has ‘lost’ his memory in the recent RCI questioning. This old fart is nothing more but a true reflection of his good friend ‘The Ape from Zimbabwe’.

And by the way, where are those ‘Sedition Act’ merchants who have been recently busy lashing out at truely genuine wakil rakyats?

  2. TDM is nyanyok ka? Bangsa Msia, OR Malay right??
If others (non bumi) talk like that to a crowd, they can be offered free meals & accomodation in Kamunting,
but for this old man, he is only voicing his personal opinion. No charge against him lah !

  3. What can we expect from a Robert Mugabe of Malaysia. His tribalism, parochialism and racism is well known throughout the world. The non-Malays have never and will never fight to be more than a Malaysian. Is it so wrong for us just to be Malaysians? This is the modern world. I believe we should all strike for fairness, equality and dignity. Who is talking about Malays loosing power other than you, your children and your cronies. How can the non-Malays taking over from the Malays when Malays constitute more than 65% of the population.

Please Mahathir, you had your chance. It is over for you. If you have done your part sincerely and truthfully, the Malays would have been much better off today. Where did the bulk of the money go? How much have you squandered and pilfered? Let me ask you one more time: What is your disagreement with AAB about – over some fundamental national policies to help the ordinary Malays? Or is it just your favourite projects, your pride, your cronies, and your family that you are concerned with? Please tell us. Don’t resort to racism, Mahathir.

This nation does not owe you anything. You owe us for the gaffe you created over the last 22 years. We may just forgive and forget if you learn to shut up from now. Don’t test the patience of the rakyat.

  4. I totally have lost the little respect that I have left for Mahathir. From today, I will not call him Dr or Tun. I will just call him Mamakhathir. In fact, I have more respect for Abdullah Badawi than Mahathir. It is better to have an incompetent PM than a racist PM.

Mamakhathir is afraid that his misdeeds in the past will be exposed. That is why he is trying to divert the attention away from himself.

Why UMNO leaders are talking about “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay Supremacy when Malays are losing their identities to the Arabs and Mamaks? The Chinese and Indians did not corrupt or replace Malay customs and culture. It is the UMNO Malay themselves who are rejecting their very own custom to adopt the customs of Arabs and Mamaks.

Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with being an Arab or a Mamak. I have nothing against the Mamak community in Malaysia. A Mamak is just like other races in Malaysia. They are hardworking and good in business. Just like other races, there are also racists among the Mamaks and one of them is Mahathir Mohammad.

We should not let this racist Mamak who is pretending to be a Malay to stir racial sentiments among the real Malays. Mahathir Mohammad should be made to realize that he is actually not a Malay but a Mamak. Once he realized that he is actually not a real Malay, he will stop talking about Malay Supremacy.

What if a Kadazan or Iban in Sabah and Sarawak talk about Ketuanan Kadazan and Ketuanan Iban? The Kadazans in Sabah have more rights to talk about Ketuanan Kadazan in Sabah than a Mamak like Mahathir. Anyway, I am glad that the real Bumiputera of Sabah and Sarawak are not racists.

Abdullah Badawi, even though you are a weak leader, I support some of the policies that you are trying to implement. Mahathir hates these policies of yours and that is why he is trying so hard to get you replaced. I am glad you are not listening to this racist ex-PM.

    Long live Anwar Ibrahim!

  5. Desperate situations call for desperate action. This is exactly what is happening in this case. TDM is grasping at anything to keep himself afloat in this sinking situation. He is desperate, he is not only throwing caution to the wind. He is also throwing the safety and security of the nation just to save his own skin.

It is in desperate situations like these that a person true nature is revealed. TDM, by playing the racial card is showing us his true colors. Hope those who have been blindly supporting him will now see his true nature.

  6. This racist jerk@racist mamak who is pretending to be a Malay to stir racial sentiments among the real Malays. This mamak jerk is trying to create another May 13 to try to bring down ABB. He was the culprit that orchestrated the May 13 that brought down TAR. This mamak jerk always thought that the Malays are still as stupid and ignorance as before, can be easily be manipulated by him to achieve his agenda or benefits.
For records, this mamak jerk is the one that always criticized the Malays and disrespect the Malays. At one time he challenged the Sultans and disrespected the Sultans. That’s why his crony with two Muhammad dares to bully the daughter of a Sultan.
We should use ISA against this racist jerk@racist mamak in order to safe our country.

  7. mermali incident, this mamak jerk instructed to killed the Malays and critisized the Malays as ‘Mudah Lupa’ but now, he is saying about Ketuan Melayu. This mamak jerk is the mother of hypocrite..

  8. He and many others are very concerned of the increasing political awareness of non Malays questioning decades of bad leadership, gross mismanagement, gross excesses and abuses, racial and religious extremism, rampant corruption, crime and etc.

If the racial and religious extremists and political thugs don’t fear you, they will not respect and listen to you.

  9. It has been rumoured – don’t know if it is true – that when asked his race when he entered uni in singapore – TDM wrote ‘Indian’ in the application form.

Ironically he rose to political prominance on the race platform and maintained support by leveraging on it. The legacy he left Malaysians is a country polarised and divided.

Never mind the country is trying rise above and transcend communal voting, as evinced in the last elections, yet to him, race card was a tried fomula of success then and there is no reason why it is not now, which is why he is turning to it once again.

It is as if he has this supercilious condescension towards many of his countrymen that they could not rise above the tribal passions of race – that race appeal is primordial, revolves around fear of others, and therefore will always work to galvanise support when it is resorted to.

Of course his latest rhetoric on race contradicts the very notion of Bangsa Malaysia postulated by him but when has consistency been his strong point???

    Just a few excamples :

    · he endorsed AB as successor only to condemn his own anointed person;

    · he couldn’t remember much during the Lingam Commission Hearings but only to now say that he wants his day in court to disclose how judges who implicate him now lobbied for judicial appointments then;

    · he branded US a rogue nation supporting Israel in terrorising innocents and gleefully availed the service of a disgraced Jew lobbyist Jack Abramoff to get a photo op with President George Bush;

    · his critique of the west appeared contradictory and inconsistent with his government’s economic rapport with the west;

    · he condemned speculative activities of hedge fund traders and yet under his watch Bank Negara incurred multi-billion ringgit loss from speculative ventures of massive purchases of sterling before the sterling’s collapse in September 1992;

Indeed the only trait consistent is opportunistic inconsistency by often contradictory appeals and messages to different constituencies in different languages for different purposes.

Now in politics it may well be petty to be consistent all the time. But inconsistencies ought to serve a consistent purpose – the well being of the constituency/nation that supported the leader in whom the trust of well being is reposed, and this is where one draws the line.

The blatant disregard for the effects of playing the race card on the well being and unity of the nation and its peoples struggling to transcend racial stereotypes – just to serve a personal and narrow political agenda of ousting his anointed successor – is selfish.

Malaysia can do without selfish Leaders or Ex Leaders.

  10. Such is the circle of life, what goes around comes around and we will reap what we sow….For example he says that Ahmad Badawi destroys the BN/UMNO, what he is in fact saying is the kind of BN/UMNO as a legacy created by himself, and it was he himself that anointed the successor that was expected to preserve his legacy but who in fact dismantles it. How ironic! In the end the impressiveness of being the father of development, of fighting off the hedge fund attackers of our currency is sullied by a country and a people left polarized and divided by race and religion, by a political culture infused with corruption, an ethos of mediocrity and false hubris – and in the end in stead of engendering the gratitude of those he led, he engenders ill will and their criticisms. One has only to read the comments in this blog and others to see how this is evident.

And the architect of all these, in the twilight years, becomes something like a defeated leader in war, with his people deserting him, still combative but without soldiers, arsenal and ammunition, still scheming and plotting on how to prevail over circumstances but without success, still proud but sad and without peace….

Malaysian History, when it is capable to be objectively written, will link his leadership to the quality of excess that had the ability to accelerate the pace of history and galvanise those whom he led by sheer determination and raw will. Such an eruption of energy, to be sure, can change the nation to either historic greatness or ruins. Had the man a little less complexes and more humility and generosity towards the less endowed intellect of those over whom he ruled – had the man studied a little bit more of law and constitution and their nuances and respected the rule of law, a legacy of bringing the nation to historic greatness would not eluded his grasp in posterity.

  11. This guy had been playing with the lives and future of the people using narrow, divisive and damaging politics of fear and insecurity for decades to gain support for his party at all costs.

  12. BREAKING NEWS FROM MALAYSIAKINI

    Mahathir quits Umno

He says he will only return when his hand-picked successor Abdullah is replaced and wants others to emulate him.MORE

    No confidence in Abdullah

    Party member since 1946

Former Umno president Dr Mahathir Mohamad today announced that he was quitting the party with immediate effect and urged other members to emulate him.

    http://malaysiakini.com/news/83065

Mahathir is getting desperate. He is afraid of Lingam case. I hope UMNO members will not be fooled by him. Let him quit UMNO. Good riddance. Abdullah Badawi should tell Mamakhathir not to knock his head on the door on the way out.

Mahathir should not be allowed to return to UMNO because Mahathir is not a Malay in the first place but a Mamak.

  13. Well said BoycottLocalPapers!!!

Agreed with what you said about this Mamakhathir guy. I also DO NOT respect him. Bloody racist and very ungrateful.

One thing for sure, with BN/UMNO still around, Malaysia will always have racism in all aspects of life.

  14. Mamakhathir is speaking all sort of rubbish nowadays just to satisfy his own agenda- getting revenge on AAB . He is just bent on getting his way without any sense of loving the country. He have been a wolve in a sheep clothing for 22 years and getting away with it and is still not satisfied. We can see how selfish he is now that his true colors is slowly but surely showing these days as he is desparately wants to change the leadership to one of his own choice so that he can be protected until he goes 6 feet under the ground. It will be great to see him spending his last few years rotting in the jail.AAB should see to it before he is being toppled then at least he would have accomplish at least one noble thing during his tenure.

  15. good for UMNO, finally the mamak (malay celup) is out of UMNO.
UMNO will be better from now onward, its member will be more humble again and UMNO will be cleaner again and cronies will be lesser and everythings will be better for UMNO….

  16. Loh said…
///Dr Mahathir asked the audience whether anyone of them had read the memorandum forwarded by the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) to the government. “What does it say? Malaysia for Malaysians! This is the reality of the present situation. If we do not speak up, if we choose to keep quiet, we will lose our rights and the other races will take over. When that happens, it will be like Singapore. Do you think we will still have control?” he pondered.///

///He also offered his take on how the Malays ended up being marginalized in Singapore, noting that when the island was sold to the British it was only inhabited by a few Malay fishermen. But the British brought in foreigners and now only 15 per cent of the population is Malay.///He also offered his take on how the Malays ended up being marginalized in Singapore, noting that when the island was sold to the British it was only inhabited by a few Malay fishermen. But the British brought in foreigners and now only 15 per cent of the population is Malay.///http://www.malaysia-today.net/2008/content/view/7587/84/

TDM assumes that Malays do not want the country to be like Singapore. He should have conducted a referendum while he could to ask whether Malaysians prefer to have the income level of Singapore, the efficiency of Singaporean police in crime prevention, the perfectionism of Singaporean government services, and their other institutions. Would Malays in the country prefer to have the low standard of living, the lawlessness of government institutions and the lack of public security where private residents in houses now have to engage on their own security guards to ensure they could feel safer to get in and out of the houses? All these are to be at the expense of retaining the proportion of the difference races in the country when British allowed independence to Malaysia, and Singapore.

There is no love loss between Singapore and Malaysia because of the separation in 1965. TDM has to brainwash Malaysians into hating Singapore because without Singapore giving the stark example of how a non-corrupted government could make economic development and improve the way of lives of its people, TDM could have claimed and fooled a lot more people that his administration was exemplary. For personal reason TDM has tried his best to beggar Malaysia’s neighbor. The ban on the sale of sand to prevent Singapore to grow, the limit to non-security risk use of airspace, and the crooked bridge intended not only to spite Singapore, but to lay the foundation for confrontation between the two countries.

The purpose of TDM doing what he did has become clearer when he said that Malaysia did not want to be Singapore with Malays in the minority. It implies not only that he was not willing to accept the racial mix in the country when British granted independence to Malaya. it was his intention to influence the composition of racial mix in the country, to increase the percentage of Malays. It was this racist intention that he utilized the results of May 1969 election to discredit Tunku, just like he is doing to PM AAB after 2008 Election.

So, TDM’s hatred for other races began even before he took power in 1981. It was his long term objective which saw the perverted implementation of racist policies in the name of NEP. Under the aegis of NEP, Bolehland has become rule by law, where immoral business dealings have been made legal, government tenders usually based on competitive basis became negotiated and not subject to review, and government services became UMNO bureaucracy to serve party interest. The end results were some two million Malaysians mainly non-Malays emigrated, and they are replaced by instant new bumiputras wannables from Project M through Sabah. The increase in the percentage of Malays is confirmed by population census.

  17. His leaving UMNO will not change anything……there are plenty more with similar backgrounds who would not hesitate to play the narrow, divisive and damaging politics to destroy the country.

  18. “KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Commission of Inquiry has recommended that the Anti-Corruption Agency reopen investigations into the relationship between former chief justice Tun Mohd Eusoff Chin and lawyer Datuk V.K. Lingam.

In particular, it wants the ACA to look into the holiday that the two and their families took at the same time in New Zealand in December 1994.”

Mamak’s Government cover up, closed this case….

ABB’s Government open back the case…..

Well done ABB, lets put all those involved in jail together with mamak the devil.

  19. Mahathir is a racist. He has done great damage to the racial unity of Malaysia. It was because of his racially biased policies that Malaysia has become polarized. Racial and religious bigotry is promoted by UMNO. Now Mahathir is defending “ketuanan Melayu” and using his lame son as his proxy. Malaysia has to move away from communal based politics and policies before further irreversible damage is done! Down with UMNO and BN !!

  20. SOMEBODY MUST MAKE A POLICE REPORT AGAINST TDM FOR INCITE HATRED AMONG THE RACES….HE SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR “SEDITION” TOO!

What he had said is VERY DANGEROUS… Now, lets see what our “BLOODAWI” going to do with him!!!!

  21. YB Lim,
With due respect to Dr M, I must say that he is getting somewhat ‘senile’ since retiring as PM of Malaysia. He is more than racist, he even claimed (in S.T. today, SIN) that aflluent Singaporeans are buying the lands in the IDR, thus chasing the Malays to live near or in the forest. Once again, he is using SIN as the bashing boy to guise his many follies. I am positive in the days ahead, you will have lots to answer to Malaysians for the boo-boos you had committed during your long tenure as PM of Malaysia. Malay or Chinese, this has nothing to do with race but for the good of your nation. By the way, I am a concerned Singaporean.

  22. Amazing the man had survived 3 opened heart operations, the last 2 being done within the space of 2 weeks, only to reveals his true identity by his own mouth – RACIST.
It is quite obvious that he is trying to stir up racial unrest in the country. Man like him is a BIG national security risk & should be dealt with IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!

I just pray that our Malays friends are not deceived by him. Don’t forget, we have more Malay MPs in the Parliament house after the 12th GE!!!

  23. – Ketuanan Malayu is irrelevant.

    – It is nothing more than a fascist doctrine (think Hitler and ‘Aryanism’ i.e. German supremacy) misused and exploited by UMNO ultras. Geez.

  24. Mahathir is right when he said ..It was not him but the courts that but Anwar in jail.It was not him but the ACA who cleared Samy vellu and Rafidad on all corruption charges. As PM I don,t have to ask anyone about what they think or thier opinions. How true ..Now the AG ,The courts ,ACA and all BN leaders past and present must take the blame..For 22 years none of the BN leaders stood up and said ..That was wrong. How many many people has suffered do BN leaders really care. NO …They are more worried about their position in the party.

  25. In medical term he suffers from ” PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA”. He is definitely creating chaos among the malaysians. He should be charged under SADITION act and sent to Kamunitng as an ISA prisoner. Once I had a highest respect for this mamakhathir but now “NIL”. He has earned lots of malaysians hatred and curses. What a PITY at this age…hmmm..!!!!

  26. When all else fails & they get desperate, UMNO Politicians always bring up Racial Statements & the supposedly “Malay” issue!
TDM is desperate & so he brings this up now.
Seditious to the core but then again who’s going to bring him to “book”? Same old stuff over & over again from the BN & it’s cronies!

  27. It is best that Mahathir and all those who believe in his political style structured around hegemonistic racial platform leave UMNO so that the rest that remain can form with Pakatan Rakyat the ruling coalition.

  28. Dr M has no choice, depa takut masuk Sg. Buloh due to the result from Lingam tape inquiry. He just wanna divert attention, a smart horse !! But don’t be fooled by him.

  29. In the wake of the shocking news that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had quit Umno, Shahrir Samad said that the country could face another general elections. This is because by Tun doing this it could cause a situation where many other Umno lawmakers might resign. If this happens then the government has no choice but to form a new government or call a fresh general election,” Shahrir added.

Thanks Tun for accelerating and driving the last nail into the moribund UMNO and imploding BN structure to pave way for a reconfiguration and realignment of Malaysian politics.

PM & Pakatan Rakyat should now immediately stitch the deal. Defacto PR leader DSAI, DAP supreme LKS & PAS’s Hadi should meet PM Badawi & all his followers (including Zaid) and all disgruntled East Malaysian parties to coalesce either to form the new government or face fresh elections to win the 2/3 majority to rule.

  30. In the last 40 years, the only constant in our country is the mess that we are in most of the time. And the mess is related to power struggle within Umno.

Every time Umnoputras fight among themselves for power and greed, the nation suffers. And one man is always right in the vortex of Umno’s power struggle – Mahathir.

Mahathir is overtly ambitious, a tyrant and a racist, who interprets the law his own way, who divides and rules, who lies, who manipulates racial sentiments, who is totally ruthless and unprincipled in achieving what he wants, and who abuses the wealth of our country.

Umno has no right to rule the nation, because Umnoputras are tribal in outlook and concerned about themselves (not even the Malays as a whole, let alone non-Malays). This is the major reason why our nation is wallowing in energy-wasting negative internal events most of the time.

How can our people be united and live and work in synergy to tap the riches of Malaysia and the world for the benefits of all Malaysians?

  31. Let’s hope that at least 32 Umno MPs, led by Mathathir’s son, resign from Umno to become non-BN independent MPs. Then, BN will no longer be the federal government.

Furthermore, with some Umno state assemblymen resigning from Umno to become non-BN independent state assemblymen, some states may be ruled by PR!

  32. “Dr Mahathir told the crowd of some 1,000 in Johor Baru that if Malays keep quiet they will lose their rights and other races will take over.”
    —————————————————————-

Large amount of venom came out of this old snake’s mouth as he retreated back to his secret hideout by resigning from UMNO. This is because the old snake already knows his days are numbered and the “firefighters” are out to catch him – DEATH OR ALIVE.

However, the effect of the old snake’s venom is not that poisonous after all.

Malaysians are already “immune” to his poison.

    :)

  33. (1) “Every time Umnoputras fight among themselves for power and greed, the nation suffers. (2) “ And one man is always right in the vortex of Umno’s power struggle – Mahathir.” – boh-liao
Statement (2) is true, statement (1) , not so after Political Tsunami of 8th March 2008 with Paktan Rakyat waiting at the gates!

It would be a good thing if ½ of UMNO joins the Tun – and PR & the rest that don’t follow can stitch the deal to govern with two thirds majority but alas it is hard to see how this may be when conceivably most [but for perhaps only a handful] will not follow the Tun as he hopes would happen. After he left power he could not even get the sufficient support to be appointed delegate of his own constituency Kubang Pasu.

In the end, in this war against present incumbent, more likely the father of modern development and defender against hedge fund marauders will be deserted by those whom he count on for support and like a defeated leader in war, without arsenal and ammunition and soldiers, still scheming and plotting on how to prevail over circumstances but without success, still proud but sad and without peace, wondering whether Malaysian History, when it is capable to be objectively written, will judge him and his legacy fairly – whether he had brought the country in 22 years of authoritarian rule to historic achievement or largely ruins.

Judging from the comments in this blog and others, the situation does not look good for him.

    I guess this is Karma.

  34. “It is best that Mahathir and all those who believe in his political style structured around hegemonistic racial platform leave UMNO so that the rest that remain can form with Pakatan Rakyat the ruling coalition.” Jeffrey

If you what you mean by “the rest” is Badawi and his gang, including KJ, then PR would be better off without them. There is no need to take remnants of Mahathir’s cabinet ministers – people like Badawi, Mat Taib, Syed Hamid, Nazri, etc were part of the old corrupt system and do not know how to deal with modern realities.

  35. TDM expects UMNO to split whenever he could not get his way. When he was challenged by Ku Li in 1987, UMNO was split into two separate entities….Then the split when he threw out Anwar, and now again, just because he is not hapy with Pak Lah’s stewardship…..

And yet strangely everytime he caused UMNO to convulse, he always justifed it in the interest of the party and love for it!
Well one can fool some people some time but not all the people all the time. The pattern shows that what he inclines to and personal interest are more important than the party’s interest or unity.

Malaysiakini quoted him as saying “Our objective to quit is to force Abdullah to step down. Once he has quit his positions, then we all shall return to revitalise the party” – yeah with him as leader again or kingmaker. High hopes!

I think he misread the situation badly.

They are only supported his voice against Pak Lah for their own ambition to ascend UMNO hierarchy. It was not to bring him back after Pak Lah’s exit. He is delusional if he thinks that the majority will support him to the extent of forcing incumbent to quit.

Even if the numbers joining him were sufficient to bring down the present government, he has miscalculated what external factor (Anwar & Pakatan Rakyat) could do to change the equation.

PR could stitch a deal with the side Mahathir opposes to rule.

  36. No doubt that UMNO is the most racist party in the world that is full of hypocrite, greedy, selfish, corrupted, always-in-denail leaders.
Anyway, this racist party is currently in the process of being destroyed through internal fighting! Let them fight and let the people benifit from it. The people in this country do not need such outdated party anymore!!! Let PR rule the country as soon as possible before the country plunges any further in the hands of dogs!!!

  37. Somebody should advise ex premier that (1) it is seditious to raise discontent and excite disaffection amongst subjects (of whom UMNO members are) against a lawfully constituted and elected government just because it happens to be led by a prime minister one anointed but subsequently regrets and withdraws support. (2) It is also seditious to promote feelings of ill will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Malaysia by raising race issues recently even if the ultimate intent is related to (1), to raise discontent and excite disaffection for the purpose of undermining that successor….And yet whatever he says is not seditious but Karpals “legal opinion” on limitations of sovereign’s power within a constitutional monarch framework of parliamentary representative government – fit for an ordinary discussion in a constitutional law class – has been alleged to be seditious, with police reports lodged! What is Malaysia coming to???

  38. MM always believes that he is the law and above the law. Perhaps, he has kept thick files on every politician, judge, and top civil servant (as he always proudly declared: Charge me and I’ll spill everything out in the open) and he is used to manipulate people by using the fear factor. He truly believes that what MM wants, MM gets it!

  39. All bloggers said here are very true. Mahathiu is not a real Malay.

To make the real Malays accept him as a Malay, Mahathiu needed to do many tricks to achieve this feat.

One easiest way to gain trust and to make the real Malays to accept him of course is to play to race card, play the Malay Ketuanan, defend Malay’s right like Malays in Malaysia are being marginalized, plays the Islamic card, anti-Israel, anti-Chinese, etc.

But at the end, no matter what tricks you had played, you are still just a mamak, a fake Malay.

  40. Mahathir is fanning every possible direction to gauge his support in the party and also among the malays masses. He must have been disappointed with the feedbacks so far. There are enough seditious remarks for the police to probe on him.

  41. mahatir is desperate for support he has never once played the racial card this openly as he is desperate for some support and this only comes after the royal commission enquiry he is probably scared he may end up in jail so he is trying 2 bring in as much support as he can.. i used to respect tun despite everything said and done till today he made this very seditious statement, why rpk and karpal are charged with sedition when the ex pm himself is not only making seditious comments but fuelling racism ……. he forgot that he is a mamak and by acting malay he is basically selling his soul to save himself

  42. ///Mahathir quits Umno

breaking news updated 6.41pm He says he will only return when his hand-picked successor Abdullah is replaced and wants others to emulate him///—Malaysiakini.

It is a storm in the teacup. Wonder when the son would announce his resignation. The former MB of Kedah who is now nobody has followed and resigned. Is Daim going to resign too?

Now that the founder of New UMNO has resigned, would UMNO now be reverted to old UMNO of 1946? I suppose what is dead cannot be revived. Perhaps PM AAB should now deregister UMNO Bahru, and register UMNO3 as replacement, and ask registration of members. In that manner, he can again follow his old boss’ example to include only those who are loyal to him. PM AAB is lucky that there will be no court case to render UMNO3 illegal and he can be founder of that party, and he can retain his PM post. The party election will now follow a new schedule, three years later.

There are much opportunities following TDM’s decision made on his feet. How lucky can PM AAB be!

  43. For a long time now, Mahathir has suffered from bouts of paranoid schizophrenia which explains his narcissistic personality. Now he’s acting like he is the leader of God’s chosen people about to deliver His Ten Commandments to UMNO.

  44. Why should all the former Prime Ministers of Malaysia be unhappy? Some have unhappiness imposed by others, and the other created unhappiness himself. Is it kharma or is it greed?

  45. After reading some of the comments in

    http://www.chedet.com/2008/05/ketuanan-melayu.html?commentPage=2

I found an interesting argument made to support ‘Ketuanan Melayu’. I can’t quote exactly what that person said because as you can see, there’s just too many comments and I lost track of the comment’s whereabouts.

I bring this argument up not to suggest that I support ‘Ketuanan Melayu’, but to start discussing about certain topics we, the non-bumiputeras, have failed to brought up before.

Anyway, that person’s argument in his comment was that they (Malay) believe that they deserve better as they believe that it was their ancestors that fought for independence with their sweat and blood.

He/she give examples by referring to the history books, indicating or claiming that none of the Chinese or Indians were involve in bringing independence to the country. He/she also give examples claiming that it was the Malays who fought during wars to protect this nation therefore deserves better while no involvements from the Chinese or Indians were mentioned during wars.

Now, looking back at that argument, I realize that it seems to be a good argument as I have difficulty recalling those Chinese or Indians who fought for independence. There’s no specific Chinese or Indian heroes in Malaysia mentioned in the history books.

I bring up this issue, believing that it is possible that there could be some Chinese or Indian leaders, but were forgotten somewhere along the journey in history.

I refuse to believe that there would be none. Because of this, I suspect that it is possible that ‘someone’ is ‘moderating’ the history books such that less and less Chinese or Indian heroes will be remembered and will be lost forever for the sake of the pride of the Malay civilization.

During my time when I’m studying history in my primary school and secondary secondary school, I grow tired of learning the exact same history from primary school to the end of my secondary school.

I noticed that the history books are biased in a way that they purposely discussed the golden age in the Islamic world and the dark ages in Europe when I was in form 4. That was the only world history that I’ve learnt during my secondary school.

I believe that little attention was purposely made towards non-bumiputera heroes of this country. It is possible that the efforts done by Lim Kit Siang himself could be forgotten by Malaysia history. This is when our forgotten history haunts the present people.

This brings to the issue that the opposition party should consider moderating the history books as well. The black community in the US has their own history, it’s time to bring ours back to the history books (if it exists).

  46. This is the mamak back at the game he does best…playing the racial card to advance his self interest.Remember how he goes about projecting an image that he is more Malay than the Malays, thus escalating his climb up the political ladder that even his sacking from UMNO by Tunku did not hurt his political career path. However his resulting 22 years rule did untold damage to Malaysia…the judiciary is made compliant, the media is rendered subservient, massive corruption running rampnat and wasteful expenditure of public funds on mega projects. Now he is back again resorting to racism to go for yet another agenda of his …to deflect a possible impending investigation into his involvement in the Lingam saga.

  47. MM’s tactic to challenge AAB. To test who is more powerful. It’s also to waste taxpayers money – filing a charge & prove him guilty, later become a martyr!! What a waste of time. We already have unresolved cases for decades & not enough of PP. The gov should put him & all his cronies in ISA, say 5 years & confiscate all their assets & return the assets back to public. Fast & quick. Lets not waste time & money & valuable resources into this stupidity. The truths is so clear & crystal. The world is going forward & facing competion & achieving development, while Malaysians are going backword!!! Lets not waste time with these rots… use the sedition act, ISA, etc… taste them their own medicines!!

  48. At his age and in his prersent health condition…..he got nothing to loose and as usual, is preapred to risk and gamble the lives and future of the people and country with narrow, divisive and damaging politics.

  49. /// There is no love loss between Singapore and Malaysia because of the separation in 1965. ///

Loh – spot on. Hope that Malaysians in general and Malays in particular will shed their blinkers and see Mahathiu for what he is.
