(Media Statement by Lim Kit Siang in Ipoh on the eve of nomination day for 12th general election on 23rd February 2008)
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said on Thursday that he would present a progress report on the government’s performance from 2004 to 2007.
When he took over as the fifth Prime Minister more than four years ago, he took the country by storm with his pledge to be “Justice Bao” to eradicate corruption and all forms of abuses of power, culminating in a National Integrity Plan in May 2004 after Abdullah’s unprecedented 2004 general election victory, crushing the Opposition and commanding over 91 per cent of the parliamentary seats.
A few days ago, the Police and the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) announced that they have cleared all the prospective candidates for the Barisan Nasional for the forthcoming 12th general election, formally beginning on Nomination Day tomorrow, presenting a slate of BN candidates which symbolizes integrity and incorruptibility.
If the Barisan Nasional slate of candidates for the 2008 general election all stand for integrity and incorruptibility, then let Abdullah and the MCA President, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting explain what has happened to my 11-year-old ACA report in June 1997 calling for investigations as to how the announced MCA Parliamentary Candidate for Gopeng, Ling Hee Leong could at the age of 27 embark on corporate acquisitions exceeding RM1.2 billion in a matter of months and whether there had been improper use and influence of his father, Liong Sik’s political and Ministerial position.
Liong Sik was at the time the MCA President and the predecessor of Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy as Transport Minister – with Kong Choy now mysteriously announcing that he would not be seeking re-election citing health as reason, although “political and good governance” health connected with the RM4.6 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) bailout scandal appeared to be a greater “health” consideration.
The RM4.6 billion PKFZ bailout scandal, the first biggest financial scandal of the Abdullah premiership which is greater than the first financial scandal of the 22-year Mahathir era – the RM2.5 billion Bumiputra Malaysia Finance (BMF) scandal 25 years ago will be a major subject concerning corruption and integrity in the 12th general election campaign, which I will dwell another time.
In July 2003, the ACA announced a new policy of transparency to be more responsive towards public demand for information about its investigations, viz:
• The ACA will keep all complainants informed on the status of investigations into their reports if they want it.
• Heads of government departments will be informed of the decision of the Attorney-General on investigations involving their subordinates.
• The ACA will issue statements about cases that are still under investigation if it feels necessary, including those already decided by the Attorney-General.
However, after 11 years, I have still to get a proper report on the status of ACA investigations into my June 1997 report to the ACA as to how Ling Hee Leong, son of Liong Sik, could at the age of 27 embark on corporate acquisitions exceeding RM1.2 billion in a matter of months and whether there had been improper use and influence of his father’s political and Ministerial position.
This is the first double test – not only of the four-year Report Card of Prime Minister Abdullah but also the integrity and character of the Barisan Nasional slate of candidates.
Junior Ling must tell the voters how he got so much money at 27.
It’s still no too late for him to withdraw citing ” for heath reasons”.
Yeah, anymore BN a$$ want to withdraw because of health reason? [deleted]
GO GO GO DAP TO VICTORY.
GOB BLESS DAP.
strategy for the Barisan Alternative to win the 1/3 or to deny the BN 2/3 ; clarity leads to power : must identify goals and seats

It’s just horrendous to see these [deleted] cheat the Rakyat.
IF THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN CA DO IT,SO CAN WE.
Vote DAP,PKR and PAS.
We want a CHANGE!
I gives all my Blessing to the Opposition.
There won’t be any resources left for our future generation if the goons in BN keep on sucking whatever they can find here, and channel them overseas. ACA is only for show, which there is no credibility in them(based on their past records for the past 25 years).
BOOT OUT BN. KUASA RAKYAT WILL PREVAIL.
VOTE OUR OPPOSITION BROTHERS AND SISTER FOR THE STATE AND PARLIMENTARY SEATS.
If I remember correctly when Ling Liong Sik how his son could have acquired so much asset exceeding 1.2 billion ringgit in such a short period of time as well his crisp reply was that his son is a graduate of London School of Economics and I remember at that time a friend of mine says to me if one were to throw a stone and if it were to land on a head particularly that of a Chinese malaysian student at LSE it would most likely be that of first class honours student at LSE.That is to show that there are many Malaysians from LSE who has come out with first class honours but you have yet to find any with claims to wealth not even a tenth of what this
Ling Hee Leong has!
Has this gentleman anything to do with Rekapac shares. My Rekapac shares are worthless now. Can I seek compensation?
Correction:’If Remember………..When Ling Liong Sik was asked how his son …………in such a short period of time as well, his crisp………………………………………………………………..’.
“That is to show…………………………………………………..not even a hundredth of what Ling Hee leong has at age of 27.”.
CKC is going to Melbourne to visit his son and grandson after GE as reported
in Sin Chew. Many people are now looking at CKC with the PKFZ scandal in mind .They are also speculating if CKC is already a PR with tons of assets there. So LLS and CKC are of the same feather???
ACA confirm corrupted! If not corrupted then Malaysia wont have so many corrupted leaders!
Ladies and gentlemen
for 50 years we have thieves, robbers, scoundels roaming our country and do we need these thieves, robbers, scoundrels to rule again?
We need support on the ground and we are againts BN’s MONEY, MEDIA dan MACHINERY….please support us (oppositions under whatever banners) on the ground

//…99.99% BN people like opposition ppl have no chance to be corrupted. Some opposition leaders would be as corrupted as some BN leaders IF they can acess to same resources. This is a part of human nature.
————————————
Ling Hee Leong must be in the remaining 0.01% (100% minus 99.99%). This is part of human nature!
Basic AMLA (Anti-Money Laundering Act) procedures could have made this figures easily accountable.
Question: Why are they taking so long to produce a satisfactory explanation?
Answer: Still can’t figure out a good excuse that can convince the rakyat, while using TIME to erase the rakyat’s short-termed memories.
Solution: Opposition should have a task force that focuses in compiling reports and make public all unsolved corporate governance issues.
Hing Hee Leong is contesting for a the parlimentary seat of my constituent. He can very well give me all his ill gotten gains, but no way I will vote for [deleted].
Uncle Kit,
And also what happen to Altantuya’s case ?
Hello Comrades,
This guy Ling Hee Leong s/o Ling Liong Sik how did he amass RM 1.2 billion at such a tender age of 27.Is it cos of his fathers influence,WE RAKYAT THE TAX PAYERS MUST TEAR HIM TO PIECES AND MAKE HIM N DAD ACCOUNTABLE. Dont vote for him they are thieves!!!!!!
VALGA DAP/PKR/PAS VALGA MAKKAL SAKTI!!!!!!!
AhPek, you remember that case! Yes I remember that too because when YB Lim KS asked how that money came about, the answer was: “We have our savings.” YB Lim, maybe you can correct me on the actual words he used.
In the banking/capital market we LOL.
people from GOPENG must deny ling hee leong go into parliament because he never give any proper and reasonable answer to public since 1997..SO DENY LING HEE LEONG !!!!! VOTE FOR DAP
Today, I woke up and feel very sad and frustrated. In life people use to say, be positive, look on the bright side and be happy.
With this country in such a mess and the way the elected people run this country can you still be positive, look on the bright side and be happy?
Now this coming 12th GE, is there really any hope for change. My fellow Malaysians, I do not want you all to have too much hope or pour cold water over the hot fire. We must face reality as to what the extend of damages that had been done to our country by the 50 years rule of racist umno and its beyond repair. The great power they have now, can it be undone by this so call “Wind OF Change”?
Yes “The Wind OF Change” is felt very strongly in cyber space and a few isolated spot on the ground level.
I had followed the Malaysian elections since the seventies and each election is the same. There were once or twice of the same scenerio as now but what is the result, racist umno still win with great majority. I can remember the election year that YB Kit and YB Kapal lost. There were thousands of people at YB Kit ceramah on the last night of campaigning (even the bn helicopter was flying over head above us ) and I heard all over, bring down bn. Every one was so excited and each and everyone I spoke too, agreed that they will vote for the opposition. But the night of the election results tell us that just by voicing out and shout does not mean they will vote for the opposition.
The situation now for racist umno to fall is as good as zero. Yes with this “Wind OF Change”, the oppositions can squeeze in a few more MP or SA, provided the EC does not disqualified dozens of candidates on nomination day.
In order to fufill our dream of change the only solution is for each and everyone to “SACRIFICE”. The time will come, when the situation becomes so unbearable that each of you will have to decide whether you want to “SACRIFICE” or not. Thats up to you.
For now we will continue to fight this battle without having any weapons while the racist umno are using all kind of weapons at their disposal.
Go down to the ground and speak to the common people who have no internet access and you will understand what I had said.
I had spoken to many and it just make me more sadder.
50 years is ENOUGH
Vote For A Change
Vote For Any Opposition
Give Them A Chance To Change For A Better Malaysia
Remember bn Is A Useless Grouping Of Self Serving, Corrupt, Dictator, Power Crazy, Racist, Kris waving, etc, etc type of parties.
Junior Ling must tell the voters how he got so much money at 27.-Libra2
The answer is simple : Got the money from his godfather!!!
Hey, till today we still could not fathom how lucrative a business is to join the coalition parties of BN.
Practically every minister retired filthy rich! Oop sorry, even before retiring! No need to be minister la! Only ordinary ADUN or MPs, sudah kaya raya. Look at Zakaria Deroz istana.
Besides almost all ministers children, in-laws siblings are very rich too. Some are billionaires too. Ling Jr is one of them!!!
If people n GOPENG really want to get a good and sincere worker, VOTE LING OUT!!!
DO NOT VOTE SUCKERS AND PARASITES, BUT TRUE SINCERE CANDIDATE!!!
DAP CANDIDATE IS SINCERE, HONEST AND TRUTHFUL! VOTE DAP!!
Remember we have been deprived of local council elections for decades. There is rampant mismanagement, malpractices and corruption happening in MPBJ,DBKL etc as reported in The Sun.Hopefully with better performance by BA in the coming GE,the rakyat will have clean and efficient elected local councils.
Grace,
Yeah, young man rich. But behind every sucessful man is a woman, not his wife lah. Do you know who or not?
I’m glad you have taken up this issue which I wrote in your blog earlier. He is actually throwing money in Lawan Kuda, New Kopisan, Gopeng, Simpang Pulai and Gunung Rapat. He’s spending money on meals and favours which can be of good use to the Chinese schools here.
Also dispensing money to the UMNO branches. On previous elections, I used to help out in the MCA ops room. But not this time.
Even my colleaques who were traditional BN voters have commented negatively on him. A good omen to DR Lee Boon Chye. Seems there are 3k voters from the Air Force base being transferred to Ipoh Timur.
Mr.Lim needs to work harder. But I hope Ling Bas tard will lose. His family thinks that MCA belongs to them. Well, there are thousands like me, MCA members who are not voting.Try the local markets in the mornings. One can see the well-dressed gangsters having a nice time.
I should have taken up the offer to help in the MCA ops room. At least I could have known how he buys his way around. But not to worry, many have said,”Take what is given but vote opposition”. Let’s hope he lose. I have asked my friends to pray in the churches, temples and mosques for his defeat.
To, YB L K Siang,
1)…unhappy over an 11th-hour ruling stipulating that would-be candidates must pay a stamp duty for a statutory declaration for their nomination papers…”
2)…,Nominations for the March 8 polls will be accepted on Sunday. The election authorities said they were enforcing the ruling for the first time since it was introduced in 1981.
3)…’The sudden ruling could be pretext to disqualify our candidates,’
… ‘I see this as a gimmick to make things difficult for opposition candidates,’
> Stamping office closed on Saturday & Sunday .
>> ” How to comply “?
>>> “More legal tactics” be used to disqualify on ‘technicality ‘ on 24-2-2008 ?
Anyway ,please seek help of lawyers who specialised in ‘stamping’ for help.
Some lawyers appointed by Law as “nominees” for stamping works.
Many ‘Commissioner for Oaths’ were shocked …..
I did warned earlier in my posting in January 2008 comments. Forgotten ?
The difficult political process of change ?
> By the way, if EC enforced the 1981 ruling, it legally means :
>> all the General Elections held on 1984, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1999, 2004
>>> ” were null & void “.
“Illegally constituted ” Ruling BN Govt better think twice.
A confusing Legal ” Paradox ” eh ?
…
When ACA investigated the Lingam case, they found out too many VIPs were involved. So they gave RM3000 to Lingam’s ex-secretary as a mouth-covering bribe and declared that the case was closed.
When they investigated Ling Hee Leong, they found that many VIPs were involved too. So they declared that the case was closed too. Unfortunately, Kit Siang was not paid a single cent.
What is the opposite of “progress report”? Regress Report ? That’s more like it.
Report Card?I don’t know what Bodohwi fcuking report card is all about?????
Jr Ling RM1.2B
Chan KC RM4.5B
Khairy SGD45B – lower end of estimate?
To, YB L K Siang,
Please help & assist your friends in PKR, PAS, etc to rectify ..

AAB “Justice Boa”… HAHAHAHA
AAB “Badawi Pauâ€â€¦â€¦ AHHHH baru betul.
Is time to spend more times on the ground to talk to those that have no IT excess about many many wrong doings in the BN that were not published in the local media. I certainly can feel the wind for a change over here up north, people that I spoke to 99% are against BN and they are going to vote opposition irrespective of DAP, PAS, PKR.
I hope penangites, especially chinese think twice before you vote BN again. Just think about your children education, they are being discriminated and marginalised for the higher education they reserved. I hope you wake up this time, vote for opposition for the future generations.
YB Lim, please let him off as he lost almost all his wealth in the 98 financial crisis.
As for the report you made against him would have been thrown into the sea or buried in the tomb.
BN is above the law, they have been given ‘immunity’ .
Dont put a Rat in your rice pot!! By voting him in then he will not talk about 1.2b BUT 12B. when he is in power.
Take a close look at him…did he have a face of a sincere politician or a crook? Your guess as good as mine.
Change, change ,change….. just trust the opposition once after all alot of malaysian have trusted the bn for so many years and after every elections they will skin you alive and take back whatever sweetener they have given you pre election plus interest.
Vote opposition irrespective of DAP, PAS, PKR
Ling Ling Long ceramah will some what look like this.
LLL : I wish to share my wealth with all u voters. I will also teach u poor peasants how to become not just a millionaire but a billionaire at a young age. I didnt need my father to make me a billionaire. I did it all by myself. Yes, I am that smart and capable. I can even be your PM.
Vote for me, Ling Ling Long!
Vote for me, Ling Ling Long!
To all Gopeng voters make it a ‘tak toong chiang’ for Ling bastard.
Moon Rock face old Ling explained that his little Ling is a business genius at his first corporate acquisition. If old Ma believed old Ling at that time, can we question the ACA? There is IQ Genius, but Business Genius? Only politician genius without skin can coin such a term.
But even if little Ling picks up RM50 every hour since his birth, he can only collect 50 x 24 hour x 365 days x 27 years = 11,826,000 less than 12 MILLION.
Extending this to RM50 every MINUTE, total is only 709 MILLION.
Sad but true. UMNOputras will know how to vote for him in Gopeng. They know how to vote corrupted and hapless MCA and Gerakan reps to give them a multiracial image.
ACA is a joke. OK they did pass this guy, what about the guys that did not pass? They are walking free. So ACA no standard one…
Ling will loose in Gopeng.
How he got the billions? simple. by buying 1000 acres at $3/sq ft and sell to Gomen at $25/sqft. And then taught CKC to roll out the extra $3.4 B for another round of equitable share distribution! Of course , this time ALL relevant parties benefitted!!
Extract…. too late ..?
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 22 (Bernama) — Election candidates submitting nomination papers for parliamentary and state seats on Sunday can have their statutory declarations stamped by commissioners for oaths, Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor said.
The EC had announced yesterday that election candidates would be required to submit stamp duty-paid statutory declarations with their nomination papers.
The RM10 stamp and can be bought at post offices nationwide and can be stamped at any Inland Revenue Board (IRB) stamp duty branch offices or IRB service centres as well as at the 128 district offices nationwide, he said in a statement.
To accommodate this requirement, the IRB stamp duty branch offices and service centres will be open up to 6pm on Saturday.

Declaration stamp a must, says EC PUTRAJAYA: For the first time, all candidates submitting their nomination papers must have the accompanying statutory declaration stamped, or risk having the papers rejected.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor advised candidates to comply with this regulation, as statutory declarations are not exempt from stamp duty under the Stamp Act and the Election Regulations.
“The Election Commission wishes to announce that under Regulation 6(2A)(c) of the Election Regulation (Conduct of Elections) 1981, the returning officer can reject the nomination papers of a candidate if the statutory declaration (Form 5 or 5A) that is attached to it does not adhere to Regulation 4(7) Election Regulation (Conduct of Elections) 1981,†he said.
Kamaruzaman said the duty stamp can be purchased at any Pos Malaysia counter for RM10, or they could get the form franked at any Inland Revenue Board office or service centre.
He said duty stamps purchased from Pos Malaysia could be validated at any of the 128 district offices nationwide.
“The Inland Revenue Board has agreed to cooperate with the Election Commission by keeping its offices and service centres nationwide open till 6pm on Saturday to facilitate the franking of candidates’ forms before nomination day,†he said.
Kamaruzaman said this was the first time the EC was imposing this regulation even though it has been in existence since 1981.
I contacted one Commissioner for Oath & he was slightlty confused.
>He said,’ Dunno, it’s under Election Commission Act ‘.

The theme of political dynasty is alive and well. Just when the US is spelling the end of the renew dynasties of Bush and Clintons, we here are making new vigor. Even Singapore Lee family is recognizing that their reign will end not that far away.
How pathetic are we???
Rakyat,
Pls vote DAP, not LHL of MCA. He had made us look like fool in spending money like nobody business…where did he get the money? More money will be sucked if he win the election….Don’t give him the platform to gain more power to suck and suck.
He should not be accepted as a candidate for Gopeng. It si an insult to the voters and show a dearth of capable and clean leaders in MCA.
Look at Labis Johor, another case of imprudence on the party concerned, and then PJU and DU, Kelana Jaya.
It was understood that Ling Junior had lost all that billions in the process due to his ingenuity in business, and got entangled with Soo Chee Weng till today, still not un-entangled yet.
So obviously clear, SPR answer only to ruling BN masters.
Many more BN dirty tricks coming in days to come.
>> BN candidate for Titiwangsa parliamentary seat didnt have stamping on his form. PAS lodged complaint to returning officer as the ruling required such stamping. However the protest was turn down with reason given that he had just received verbal instruction that stamping requirement is no more mandotory.
>>What a dirty trick – they imposed it as eleventh hour on last thursday with hope that opposition candidates from east coast and northern states will be disqualified!
>>> But when their candidate got caught, they immediately change the ruling!
Round 2: Barisan Rakyat (BR) won again..
…
Extracy from Jed Yoong,
Food for thoughts.
>>… Husam said something about the BN calon not signing the nomination form.
>If the BN calon is disqualified, then PAS will win a seat — not sure if it’s Husam’s seat.
>> Same thing with Nik Aziz’s opponent in Pengkalan Pasir.
But his press secretary said that the SPR (Elections Commission) overruled that and Nik Aziz has to “lawan (fight)â€.
SPR double standard.
So obvious SPR dirty trick seen by all.
To help & beg & remind BN calon “to sign later†unto the earlier blank nomination forms after nominations closed at 10am ?
Pas Legal advisers should remember to file a ‘writ of motion’ in Election High court tomorrow to disqualify the 2 BN calons.
“the SPR (Elections Commission) overruled that †should be punished under the election ACt.
Everyone knows who is Tun Ling !!!!!
There’s a true story where a famous artist from china who display his work in KL and shows a portrait of Tun Ling for just one day and the artist quickly took it out from the display as the visitors spit on his portrait !!!! Thats what we chinese said ` Wei chau Mann nei’
Many thanks to the bloggers who highlighted the PKFZ scandal. CKC now in so much shit that he has to resign. I guess the resignation is to protect someone higher up.
I think Ling Hee Leong deserved the chances to be candidate of Gopeng Parliment seat because he is the Deputy Youth Chief of MCA Youth. I think u all r so extream because of the impresion of the press and other “well talking people” like Ong Tee Keat. Properly Ong Tee Keat should join YB Lim Kit Siang cause they r in the same catagory.
Oh No No No…!!! To quate him with “Justice Bao” was an insult in every way.
Everybody is covering everybody’s ass. Equate him “Justice Tau Fu Fa” or “Justice Kena Ta Pao” perhaps.
