I received SMS from Malaysian Indians expressing alarm at the statement by Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu yesterday (reported in the Sun) that he wanted to be MIC President for another ten years.
I do not know whether Samy Vellu was serious about wanting to be MIC President for another ten years but the alarm he created among Malaysian Indians to have him around for another ten years as the MIC President and sole Indian Cabinet Minister is very real and serious indeed!
This is because the Malaysian Indians have never felt more deprived, alienated and marginalized from the mainstream of national development after Samy Vellu’s more than 28 years as the MIC President and sole Indian Cabinet Minister – a fact which Samy Vellu had stubbornly refused to concede.
The investigations into the gangland-style murder of Johore MIC Deputy chief and Tenggaroh State Assemblyman, Datuk S. Krishnasamy last Friday seems to have taken a totally strange and surprising twist.
When news first broke of Krishnasamy’s gangland-style killing last Friday, there was legitimate widespread concern whether Malaysian politics have degenerated into a new phase with violence and even terrorism rearing their ugly head.
There were audible sighs of relief all-round when it became evident that Krishnasamy’s killing had nothing to do with politics or the Hindraf phenomenon with police investigations focused on his personal business dealings.
Things took a completely different turn however when the aide of the Johore MIC Chief, Datuk K. S. Balakrishnan and a former employee of Krishnasamy were arrested by the police for investigations in connection with the murder.
Samy Vellu himself was questioned by the police about Krishnasamy’s murder which, cumulatively, presented a picture that the killing of the Johore MIC leader was related to politics after all – but it was all about MIC politics!
Malaysians are asking whether MIC politics are the most violent in the country, especially as the two elected representatives killed in the past decade were both from the MIC (Krishnasamy and Lunas State Assemblyman in Kedah, Dr. Joe Fernandez who was openly shot to death in Bukit Mertajam in November 2000) to the extent that Samy Vellu could say death threats were commonplace for politicians.
Death threats were definitely not commonplace occurrences for DAP politicians. I believe this applies to other political parties, whether in the Opposition or in the Barisan Nasional –except for MIC.
Samy Vellu seemed to suggest that he could write a book just on death threats based on his 40 plus years in politics.
I have been in politics for more than 40 years but I will not be able to write a chapter, let alone a book, on death threats.
Why is this so?
Bcos Indian shows are an epic
shoot him down… :-)
even give him another 100 years he cannot contribute a single cent worth of rights to Malaysia Indian…
he more interested to dig more $$$ from “STUPID MALAYSIAN”…
only gangsters will be handled by gang-style way…
well i’m very sad for my indian friends who will have to suffer for another 10 years…
on the other hand we will have another 10 years of petrol increase…
10 years of toll increase…
and another decade of unsolved portholes on our roads!!!
I can still remember when Samy Vellu `pretended` to take his shirt off in the Parliament lobby to fight. But he had no guts, getting some of his machais to restrain him.
And there`s another story when he was trying to get into the MIC CWC in a lawyer`s office and made threats.
messy Says:”…another decade of unsolved portholes on our roads!!!”
Samy need another decade of “minyak rambut” to keep his shining… while fellow Indian will be left out another decade behind… lol… :-)
MIC politics is the most violent. Sami as the head, he himself is arrogant and acts like gangster. Sami has created gangsterism in MAIKA Holdings AGM not now since the shareholders started to ask questions about thier investment when Sami couldnt come out with an answer until today. He planted many of his people to man-handle any one questioning the board or the management of MAIKA.
Every MIC politician practices this violent act in order to stay in power. So what is said above is true.
Petaling Jaya, Wednesday): DAP unreservedly condemns the irresponsible, illegal and violently unacceptable behaviour of Johor State Assemblyman for Tenggarah Datuk S. Krishnasamy in attacking DAP National Vice-Chair and MP for Ipoh Barat M. Kulasegaran yesterday during the Maika Holdings Bhd(Maika) Annual General Meeting(AGM). In his police report yesterday, Kula asked police to act against the Johor ADUN for elbowing Kula and pushing Kula away from the mike when Kula was speaking to the Maika AGM at Legend Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

YB Lim,
A very good reason for Malaysian Indians to vote for the opposition !!!! Inform all our Indian friends….spread it out loud & clear about “Samy’s intention for another 10 year” and I bet we will have all the Indians votes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How come he`s not talking anymore of this 15,000 MICe `Support For UMNO` rally anymore? Badawi must have got frightened and told the `fake hair` he can`t attend.
Samy seemed to suggest that he could write a book just on death threats based on his 40 plus years in politics. Why is this so?
He’s the one making all those death threats during his 40 plus years in politics!
Ai-yo-yooooooo, vhy complain so much about Abang SV wanting to be MIC President for another ten years?
SV, who looks younger as years went by, is healthy and full of hair. He could easily be selfish and retire to enjoy his hard-earned wealth, leaving Indian Malaysians to fend for themselves.
However, unlike MCA’s LLS and Gerakan’s LKY, SV is not selfish and willing to sacrifice his personal comforts to continue to lead Indian Malaysians and to suffer for them.
Ai-say, where to find such a dedicated and self-sacrificial jewel?
laugh out loud…i express my deepest condolence to the Indian community in Malaysia due to the reason statement that Semi value wanted to be the MIC president for 10 more years…whether he can hold to his status in Sungai Siput is in the hand of you all…make a wise choice..good luck..
We should not be talking bad about a dead person, but sometimes the truth need to come out.
What is so great about Johor MIC? It is the most screwed up in the country.
This is the real example. When low cost houses are given, somehow Johor MIC has a say which Indian gets it. And the fee is between RM2000 to RM5000..under table. The money will be taken by MIC. So do you think the really poor Indian got the low cost houses in Johor.
Maika Holding mismanaged the Indian money, and during AGM this dead ADUN elbowed the people asking question. The money belong to the people. [deleted]
Violence is part of Samy Vellu’s culture.
Recently MIC Youth Leader YB Vigneswaran came to Kulim. 2000 people waited for him, not to welcome him. But they booed and jeered at him. They even pelted eggs at his car. He was told to leave the place immediately. The YB was insulted to the max and he left. The incident happened 2 weeks ago.
Guess what YB Vigneswaran did. The next day he called up one of the activist and warned that [deleted] That’s the mindset of MIC leadership.
So nothing is a surprise in MIC.
both killings Sv was not in the country…….HMMMM
Another ten years? The statement only proof why Hindraf is so right that they had no choice.
Forget the audacity, the arrogance or the ruthlessness. What should concern Indian Malaysian is the idiocy of it. Saying he can hold on to power like this is just disrespecting the intelligence and self-respect of Indian Malaysians. Frankly, if I were an MIC member, I would not know how to take this statement and still go home to make love to my wife.
YB Lim, no more jinx with his name, eh?
On serious note, another 10 years for Sam meant either:
(1) He is trying to undo all the negative things he has done in MIC for the past 28 years (like bringing Subra back) or
(2) he is putting the finishing touches to his to his grand vision on MIC, further dividing the community.
That is the logical thing I can think of. Another 10 years means two more elections. It’s for the voters to cut short his already lengthy tenure in MIC. By then then threats won’t but just a book, but several masters thesis in social criminology.
“Frankly, if I were an MIC member, I would not know how to take this statement and still go home to make love to my wife.” Bigjoe
Isn’t that a serious situation? But are you an MIC member?
Saudara Lim, This is a very simple matter. MIC has been always a “closed private limited company” with members admitted only of their choice and usually their own clan members. This is the same for temple commeties and most other Indian organizations indirectly controlled by the MIC. Thus the outsider is unable to go in to make any changes. If communal matters like MAIKA meetings take place, thugs are brought in to “control” the outside crowd. Even last month, one of the MIC “top man” came to our town and he came with thugs. Now if people among MIC have problems, who then can go to settle them – thugs of course. A very simple matter.
Samy can be the MIC president until he dies if he wants to, as there are no outsiders to challenge him.
There are many options for Indians now that many of the former MIC members had to leave the estates to make way for development. Indians surely are not bound as much to the MIC. In fact, in view of hindraf the Indians would have broken from the mental block to support MIC.
The fact that MIC can no longer even get 15,000 to turn up to support Badawi is concrete evidence.
It is eveident Samy Velu is fighting for his credibility with BN, especialy UMNO heavy weights. It is clear Samy Velu would become irrelevant and discarded by the BN. He will even become a liabilty as an electoral asset for the BN to survive with its 2/3rd majority.
The mood of the Malaysian Indians, is to boo him out
Uncle Lim,
Although I’d agree that MIC is violent in nature ( thanks to the party’s president). On the other hand, I feel that UMNO is the most violent party in Malaysia. The violence that UMNO had done is actually deep and ideological. MIC is being violent by stabbing in the front. But UMNO have been violently stabbing the other races from behind for more that 50 years.
1. The quota system imposed on the non-Malay students to enter universities carrries a certain amount of violence in the heart of the qualified students who could not enter the local universities. This violence is kept inside oneself as anger towards UMNO.
2. The rules imposed on passing the Bahasa Malaysia paper, or otherwise a student fails the whole examination carries certain violence in the heart of the students who have to repeat the whole exam for failing just one paper. Isn’t this an ideological discrimination thats almost hidden or not realized by other races? When you leave Malaysia, perhaps you can see the deeply ideological plans devised by the education ministry.
3. When more non-Malay students drop out from school due to this ideologically planned strategy, there are great chances for these students to resort to violent activities. If you track back the root of their violent activies, it will stem from the discrimination and ideologically planned strategy by the education ministry and also UMNO.
As such, can we call MIC to be the most violent party in Malaysia, when all the causes for the violence traces back the discrimination planned by UMNO?
May God bless Malaysia.
You are insulting all the white collar criminals who have escaped with millions without having to rob a bank or pushing drugs.
To me, the Indian race worldwide (inclusive of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, etc) seems to have higher tendency of resorting to violence especially on political leaders. You just look at Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Benazir Butto, who were murdered while in office.
Can anybody explain why? I hope this will not be taken as prejudiced viewpoint against Indians
NAR2645..what about the likes of Abe Lincoln and JFK and the attempt on Ronald Reagan?? Are the americans inclined to political violence as well??
I think your comments are rather presumptuous and lack substance..you are stereotyping…
Violence has been an age old bane of the human race..Caesar, Jesus, Phillip II, Alexander the Great…the list goes on and on and it ignores ethnicity/race..
Are you suggesting that Samy Vellu be assassinated? He is likely to be assassinated by a Indian who believes he should not make peace with hindraf.
“Samy Vellu seemed to suggest that he could write a book just on death threats based on his 40 plus years in politics.”
I will be the very first few to buy if he dare publish it. Unless….he “kunci” elek. Empty dumpty…porrah!
Hey anybody here notice some similiarity, whenever some indian MP is killed Samy is always overseas, When the much respected Dr Joe Fenandez was murdered, Samy was in Rome somewhere., when lately the indian MP was killed , Samy was in India., Is this just coincidence., OR there is more to it??? How come only Samy knew of the death threats to Krisnnasamy , ,I think Samy is greatest Indian hoodlum that’s ever lived in Malaysia, maybe he’s a Vampire from hell
