Samy Vellu anti-national, disloyal and traitor in his current trip to India?

MIC President and Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu is in India to attend the three-day conference for People of Indian Origin (PIO) and he is taking the opportunity to meet the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to explain to them the position of the Indian Malaysians in the country.

When Hindraf leaders sought to explain to Indian political leaders the plight of the Indian Malaysians as a new underclass after long-standing political, economic, educational, social, cultural and religious marginalization, they were accused of being anti-national, disloyal and traitors of the country.

Can Samy Vellu be equally denounced now as anti-national, disloyal and traitor for involving Indian leaders in the Malaysian domestic affairs with regard to the plight of the Indian Malaysians?

Samy Vellu is organizing a mammoth 15,000-people rally at the Cheras Badminton Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on January 20 to pledge support for Barisan Nasional and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

This is to be the first in a series of rallies being organised by MIC throughout the country.

Nobody would object to Samy Vellu organizing rallies throughout the country to pledge support to the Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional, but he should not go against the interests of the Malaysian Indian community and in particular their belated political awakening in demanding for an end to their long-standing marginalization from being given proper recognition as equal and rightful citizens of Malaysia.

For this reason, apart from declaring support and loyalty to Abdullah and Barisan Nasional, the series of forthcoming MIC rallies should have another common theme – to openly acknowledge the problem of the long-standing marginalization of the Indians in Malaysia and to urge the Prime Minister to formulate and implement a New Deal for the Indians so that they could enjoy an equal place under the Malaysian sun.

Otherwise, the series of MIC rallies must be regarded as detrimental to the rights and interests of Indian Malaysians if their whole purpose is to destroy the momentum of political awakening in the Indian Malaysian community demanding government action to end their marginalization.

  1. Samy is working extra hard to prove himself to ABB. However the acid test is; will he dare to face the 2 million Hindus expected at Batu Caves, the very place Hindus were physically abused and arrested for standing up for their rights.

To make matters worst, these Hindus were abused on the so-called instructions of MIC leaders who were seen at the site, working with the police and FRU.

How do you calm the 2 million Hindus come Thaipusam? Organize more ABB-pledging-rally-at-badminton-halls? Give us all a break. It is sheer stupidity, what this over-the-hill leader is attempting to do.

Samy, you have overstayed your welcome.
    Leave!
    Go!
    Repent!
You have no dignity left in you!

  2. Samy Velloo,
Why imitate the HIDERAF? Real copy cat!
HINDERAF has mo one to turn to for help. And you Samy, who have been neglecting Indians’ interest all these years, would not listen to their grouses.
It is only logical they make their cases known to others. Samy has his God-father, Badawi to turn to. Hey, Samy, you are cry baby!!! Malu la!!!

  3. All hindus should not go to batucaves temple for thaipusam day, instead go to other temples because Nadaraja(dancing king) who dance to semi values tune and the cause of the dispute between the police and the Hindraf.

uncle Kit, this election have more DAP cadidates in the opposition team. sure DAP will win.

Now you know why the name semi value is given. as a Malaysian minister he goes to india to explain. what value has he got?

this is want they say “carry balls” for BN to stay in position.

  4. Lets summarize a fair assesment of Samy Vellu.

The Indians are revolting against Samy Vellu not because he did nothing. lets face it, he stayed in power because he did do somethings. Their grief is that he did not do enough for them and did TOO much for himself. Its that big difference between the two point that is in disagreement.

So here is what boggles my mind:

What service does it do the Indian community by organising a pledge FOR the PM AND how does this NOT serve his own purpose more?

The answer really is Samy Vellu is set in his ways and really don’t think he has done anything wrong. Even the PM has admitted he is willing to listen and do more for the Indian community. But as the main Indian representative, he is sending out a signal NO?????These rallies proves nothing and really only adds to the legitimacy that he should go. The fact he came up with this idea at this juncture is enough reason for him to go.

As for going to Tamilnadu visit, to me, it also gives the signal that either the situation is more serious than Samy Vellu is willing to admit or the man is on an agenda for himself that he does not give a damn what happens here. The seriousness of what happens here and he goes there to try and fix the problem when he expressly said either the support is not there or that they don’t really object. Frankly, this trip is too confusing in objective to smell nothing else than a self-interest trip on something he wants personally.

Samy Vellu just don’t get it and more importantly his action just say he does not have an answer. He is a dinasour roaming the halls of Indian Malaysian politics.

  5. Let him get those 15,000 to turn up for Badawi. The Indians are already laughing at the news. On their own they were able to turn out at least 10 times that for the Hindraf protest. It`s the fascist BN cops who prevented a larger turnout.
Now semi goes to India to campaign for BN. Already there have been protests outside the M`sia High Commission in India and the BJP is giving the Congress a tough time on this.
    Semi`s MICe ` utter nonsense`.

  6. First we had the “Father Crab” (Najib of “Father Crab teaching baby crabs how to walk” fame).

Now we have Samy Vellu, the “King Crap” (a recently bestowed honour by the Indian community who sees him as such a load of crap!)

But the “Crab of all Crabs” must be reserved for the head crab who burrows his head in the sands all the time – the all-wise and no-vice PM.

Vote for PKR, DAP, yes, even PAS in the next GE.

  7. A lesson to be learnt here:

After decisively winning last night’s Iowa caucuses, Obama has taken on an aura of inevitability. An aura is not the thing itself, as New York’s junior senator, who finished a humiliating third, can attest. But unlike Hillary Clinton during her inevitable phase, Obama has won actual votes, even making good on his seemingly implausible promise of bringing younger Americans to the polls. It’s easy to chart out his path to the White House–easier, at least at this moment, than it is for any other candidate.

  8. 1st of all, does Samy get his demo rally permit approved?
    if so, who approved it?

    why no roadblock…?
why Musa never says a single bustart word…?

is MIC has a link with Tamil Tiger?
if not, why Samy go Tamil Nadu to explain?
is he report to Tamil Nadu CM?
if not, why he go there?
    to clock mileage ah?

  9. This is the letter I isent to senior retired public servant in India:

I think you have met my mother during your Australian postings . Prior to her demise, she related to me how my grandparents were brought to Malaya from Tamil Nadu as indentured labourers in a rickety ship and for distributed to a rubber estate in one of the northern states of Malaysia to work as coolies. Of course the British Colonial Government quarantined and “cleansed” the shipment of labourers in the Andaman Island, like what they do to shipment of animals.. They were employed as regimented indentured workers, like the South Indian workers sent to sugar cane plantations in South Africa. My mother described these scenes to me, as it was told to her by her parents who were the real indentured workers from Gingee, Tamil Nadu. These poor Indians sent back periodically part of their meagre salary and created the wealth for Malaysia. The British expunged our birth rights born in Malaya for their expediency and enshrined the Indians in law to be discriminated and treated as second class citizens without equality in perpetuity. We are fighting for our human dignity and not to be treated as interlopers.

The real beneficiaries of the semi slave trade were, India (through foreign Exchange) The British Colonial Government, and of course Malaya, as Malaysia was known than. Now for the Indian politicians to label the HINDRAF representatives, if that is true, as “traitors” etc is treacherous and betrayal of my ancestors. It shows their garbage mentality. I dare say that I suspect money and bribery politics here for which some of these Indian politicians are well known for. The current Indian Minister for Railways is well known for his thugariness .You remember how this thug, as the Chief Minister of Bihar than, directed his senior police officers and goons to commandeer private properties for his daughters grand wedding. The politicians of the Central Government, probably the very ones who have rebuffed the HINDRAF representatives now , and the media just laughed off his antics, whereas in other countries he would been incarcerated for his criminality. I suppose one could not expect sympathy from politicians of such repulsive behaviour and mindset.

Perhaps the HINDRAF messengers should not have gone to this conference in India with expectations to receive a sympathetic hearing. Instead, as reported, they got a uncalled for scathing response. Perhaps they should have remained in the more enlightened Western Nations, where the values for human rights, anti-discrimination laws and compassion for the minorities are more reflective of a civilised nation, in spite of their historical past . I dare say, these Western Nations are more compassionate toward the woes of minorities.

I hope I have not burdened you with these messages Karthi, but for your understanding of Human rights and values of your past position as the Director General of Human Rights Commission in India.

As close friend of Sonia Ghandi of the Congress Party, I hope you would be in a position to convey these sentiments to her.

    Best wishes

    XXXXXXX

  10. Reeks of double standards. In HINDRAF rally..people are dispersed forcefully using tear gas and water cannon. In MIC so called BN a*** licking gathering,.full media coverage.
    Samy Velu- what a loser..BOOOOOOOooooo

  11. Let’s see 15,000 Indians – would equate to many grassroots MIC members being forced by their branch and division leaders to attend the rally on the said day.

Of course transport (chartered busses) as well as food and a small cash token will be provided for the participants.

Having the rally is Uncle Samy’s way of telling the PM that he is still able to pull the dummy strings to make the Indians jump to his command.

  12. “Nobody would object to Samy Vellu organizing rallies throughout the country to pledge support to the Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional,” -Kit

Ok Samy, now you want to organise rallies, But please make sure you apply for a police permit ok? remember bodowi says? “No one is above the law” if you can get the permit I just don’t get it why Hindraf were denied one and sent to ISA. Fairness? stop fooling the people, you’re time is up!

    50 years is enough!
    Time for a change!
    Vote for any opposition!

  13. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanithi refused to see Samy Velu. It was in the Malaysian Nanban daily on its front page.

Samy Velu wants to meet Indian PM in Delhi. Its going to be another blow for him. If the chief minister refused to see him then the Indian PM also must refuse him. This is because the Tamil Nadu government is part of the coalition members in the Parliament in Delhi.

Who is Samy Velu to go and talk about our country in India. How can he say the entire indian community in Malaysia are happy. From which statistic he got this to say like that. If it was true why HINDRAF had their peaceful assembly hitting the KL streets with more than 30,000 indians comparising majority of them as indian youth.

Regarding the gathering of 15,000 MIC members on 20th Jan is this the total membership of MIC in Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan. If at all they are to come these members must be given transport bseides that must be served free foods.

This shows that MIC does not have Indian supports. This 15,000 crowd is going to backfire the indian community. Non-MIC members will be there also to see what Samy Velu is going to lie.

Whatever Samy Velu is going to show up its all to please AAB that the indians are behind BN government. He is not going to help the Indians out. He is going full swing just to campaign for him to retain his power and at last the promises he made to the indian community is not going to come true.

Once in 5 years all this BN leaders come to visit the malaysian community. And they dont come door to door to campaign. They select where and who they should visit. Infact we as malaysian voters elected them to come to power but once elected they start to SELECT who should they visit.

    All Indians and felow Malaysians
    50 YEARS IN BN RULING
    NEXT 50 YEARS BA RULING
VOTE THE OPPOSITION FOR A CHANGE

  14. I do hope the police realize that what with Samy beeing booed on stage etc there is possibility of violence at this BN sponsored rally. We hope that the police will provide enough security to the PM.

  15. Yes. His loyalty should be questioned. Is he more loyal to another country than his own? Why does he go to these sort of meetings annually? Is the government paying for his trips?

Didn’t the Indians snub him a few years ago?

  16. Samy said Malaysian Government offered 62 MBBS seats in public universities and 52 overseas MBBS scholarship seats for Indian students – can Saudara Lim please clarify. (Tamil Nanban, January 5, 2008 – last page)

  17. ///Samy Vellu is organizing a mammoth 15,000-people rally at the Cheras Badminton Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on January 20 to pledge support for Barisan Nasional and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.///

Has Samy Vellu applied for police permit? Would the permit be given in the interest of the security of the Feferation? Has the security situation in the country undergone significant changes since the day Hindraf applied for police permit? If so, how so? If not then MIC should not be given the permit.

Would the permit be given because the persons who are to attend the rally on 20th January are different from those who joined the Hindraf assembly rather than depending on the security sitution of the Federation? How come it is now the Malaysian culture to have rally?

  18. My Crystal Ball tell me this is what will happen:

    1. Samy informs everyone about 15k Indians coming to show support to ABB.

    2. MIC apply for police permit.

    3. Police deny permit citing that Hindraf bad-hats are planning to sabotage the rally and create chaos.

    4. Samy informs Malaysians; for security reasons, the planned rally has been called off.

    5. Few dim-wits come on tv and pledge loyalty claiming to represent 9,345 Indian NGOs in Malaysia!

And the Indians lived happily ever after.

  19. “MIC to set up council for temples”

What is this Semi Velu up to. Soon he will set up a council to control the Indian minds.
Religion is the private domain of the Individual and the family, and politics has no palce in the private dimain . Sami Velu hands off and I hope this council being a non-statutory body should be boycotted. It has no legality for its existence.

  20. “MIC to set up council for temples” ???

Is semi value trying to infiltrate temples like masjids and indoctrinate people via religion?

    Gosh …

Why need go India? This is an act of treason. An act of disloyalty.

What has India got to do? None of their nationals are involved.

    All are Malaysians.

Which puts to question why Hindraf needs go all that way? Perhaps PR ploy?

We should all come united as Malaysians

Oppose all these blood-suckers who have been sucking our economy dry, indeed, they are very CLEAN.

Having the title to it. CLEANING, VACUUMING CLEAN everything to Australia, UK, London, US, Canada, India.

We all know who they are …

  21. Samy Vellu is like god to the local Tamils. He is a minister and is well known even amongst the Tamils in India. I think they will continue to treat him well and vote him into office again and again until the sun rises from the west. This is the sad truth. All this demo by Hindraf is useless if the common Tamils on the street can’t use their voting power rationally to oust Aiyoyo Samy from office.

  22. //Samy Vellu is organizing a mammoth 15,000-people rally at the Cheras Badminton Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on January 20 to pledge support for Barisan Nasional and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.//

Oh I see, Samy, you are very loyal to BN and AAB because you still want to hold on to your ministerial position for another term. Right? [deleted] Looks like you are prepared to work till you drop motionless on your seat? Give chance to others to occupy your lucrative seat. Don’t be selfish and be more considerate.

This is the right time for you to think of retirement. Don’t wait till the next GE. Be brave enough to face the under-privilaged Indian community at large. The Indians need you to act tough when it is time to be tough, especially their rights and welfare. [deleted]

Reminder — Not many Indians are MIC members. Also, not many Indians are BN supporters either. You seemed to be visitng India more frequent than you have visited the poor Indian communities in the villages and estates. Is your heart with your motherland or is it with India? Don’t have to look far for any solution. Just look around within the country and you may be surprised to notice that there are still some homeless or jobless Indians sleeping on walkways of shops. Do something for these poor fellows. They need your care. At least setup a CARE Home to house them. I always wonder why the MIC or the BN government is not caring for these people who are treated worse than the allien workers?

Instead of organising a rally to show support for BN and your bosses, why not do the same to show support for some of the demands made by the various sectors of the Indian community?

  23. Bloggers too have joined along in asking the people to boycott Batu Caves this year.

“Perhaps we should teach them (the Batu Caves committee) by going to Penang and Malacca for Thaipusam. Let them lose their revenue,” wrote a blogger.

“Public solidarity is paramount in this symbolic effort to achieve the objectives and show that it is not easily quelled. Let’s hit them where it naturally hurts most – $$$,” wrote another blogger.

  24. Representative from about 700 Hindu temples in Selangor met in a close-door dialogue with Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo yesterday to discuss problems faced by the temples.

The meeting was facilitated by the Malaysian Hindu Council (MHC), a newly-formed umbrella body that claims to represent Hindu temples and Hindu-based organisations in Malaysia.
    http://www.hindraf.org/content/temple-reps-meeting-political-ploy-0

This very good news and the death knell of the M`sian Hindu Sangam which all the while has been an MIC hybrid.

  25. Linking Semi Value with the current Dr Chua’s sex scandal, didn’t Semi Value come out in full support of Vijandran when his sex videos were first exposed? Malaysians seem to have forgotten that shameful episode. At least Dr Chua had the balls to admit and resign from all posts. Vijandran went to court and was raving and ranting in denial how the video was fabricated, sliced and spliced and put together; the AG and the Police helping him by destroying all the evidence in their hands and when Karpal brought another in Parliament, they did not bother to reopen the investigation as promised and instead the Speaker commented that Karpal ‘makan diri’ by exposing that he had in his possession the video as if the possesser of the video has commited a greater crime than the maker of the video and the actor in the sex romp. We have all forgotten how Semi Value was protecting and supporting his blue eye Vijandran. Semi Value, if only you had the guts of Dr Chua. Step down now! You have been sitting there for too long now – thick faced – and we are sick of the artificiality of your whole self, not just your hair. Step down when the going is good – learn from Dr Ling – before a scandal comes in to shamefully pull you down. I am sure there are a lot of skeletons in your cupboard and all you need is for one to fall out “accidentally”. If Dr Ling is still there, I wonder what he would do to protect his blue eye boy. He must be smiling away and thanking his lucky star that he has resigned earlier before this shit was exposed. Or something pleasing to God like listening to Hindraf rather than colluding to snub their leaders out in such a cowardly way. By doing something pleasing to God, you just may be spared of future repercussions. The law of nature of cause and effect, of actions and consequences, is too real and powerful for you Semi Value to defy. Think. Believe Nature. and Quit. By the way, how much are you paying per person to attend the mammoth rally planned to be held at the badminton court? If you are paying a fair price, that is at least one good thing you can do for the Indians. A fair price means the proportionality of that to your wealth.

  26. Never mind whether MIC got any permit or not. BN organised gathering doesn’t need one.

HINDRAF, BERSIH, ETC SHOULD TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND. Take out the protest posters when Samy & AAB arrive. BOO them. Samy wants 15K turnout. Give him 150K. Their men will only represent 10% then.

  27. I’m shocked to read news of Indian Malaysian politicians attending conferences such as Peoples of Indian Origin Conference held in India, and seeking audiences with Indian politicians there to solicit their assistance to what is an internal problem of another sovereign state! I find this shocking – to say the least.

This would only encourage claims that Indians in Malaysia though citizens and nationals of that country owe their allegiance to a foreign country!

I cannot imagine naturalized Korean Americans or Indian Americans or Chinese Americans attending similar conferences held in Korea, India and China, seeking assistance from governments of these countries to help solve racial discrimination in their adopted countries.

  28. Hi

Dato Samy spoiled his name in Malaysia only bunch of Indians behind him. And now he is India trip to spoil his name, he thought India and Tamil Nadu is stupid.

During HINDRAF peaceful gathering His gangster and Malaysia Police brutal attack against Indian,s the video and photo will explain the world and they knows What happen.

Singapore powerful EX PM and Mentor went to India and told how Indians been neglected and everyday HINDRAF Story being published in Singapore News paper and followed by Singaporeans 5 days fasting will proof

Well educated and civilized people of Malaysia regardless Indian, Chinese and Malays condemn PM Badawi and support by Samy vllu the Arrest of HINDRAF LEADERS. The bloody idiots do not have any ground to file case againest them.
I pray that all Indians who is supporting to pray and pray and God will answer soon. All the corruption leaders to brought to justice soon.

  29. Samy Vellu just got what is akin to a slap in the face from Dr Karunanidhi, the CM of Tamil Nadu. The CM rebuffed SV’s, not one but three attempts to meet him. Anyone else in SV’s shoes would have hung himself from a taugeh tree, but, SV is a muka tembok jamban… what to do…..

  30. On Mr. Chua Soi Lek`s personal lifestyle (which too does not interest me), we might want to consider that at a press conference he mentioned that he, as a politician, has never booked a hotel room!
So he may be misusing tax payers money for his sexual escapades.
Or would there be other elements of corruption operating here.
Also who`s paying for Semi`s escapades in India? If it`s the taxpayer that too is corruption.

  31. Malaysian Minister admits Govt. has no concrete evidence against Hindraf — only suspicion:

NDTV: Do you have any evidence to back your government’s charge that the Hindraf has links with terrorists?

D S Vellu: Hindraf said they would fight like the Tigers, the way the Tigers are fighting in Sri Lanka. It was by Vedamurthy. After he talked like that, we did an investigation and it was felt that he may have gone there for training.

    http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080037517&ch=1/2/2008%206:04:00%20PM

So now looks like the PM needs to be sued further.

  32. All these developments such as meeting with the PM by Indian interest groups, meeting with Khir Toyo, hotlines etc .etc. owe thier suces to Hindraf. If Hindraf had not taken the action they did, all these would not have happened.

Samy should not try to steal the credit from Hindraf. His UMNO masters had shunted him to the sidelines to the extent, Little Napoleaons at the Shah Alam city council level had given him the middle finger when he tried to stop the temple in Shah Alam from being demolished. Now twith all these attentions given to the Indians, Samy is not only trying to claim credit, he is again exploiting the Indians to curry favour with his UMNO masters by organising the “Indian support BN rally”. The Indians should attend the rally but use it to highlight even more the plight of the Indians. But watch out for Samy’s goons though. Make sure the alternative medias are all present so that when Samy’s goons goes into action all their criminal acts are noted and reported.

  33. I think its dangerous for the PM to be at the rally. Semi was booed, jeered at etc off the stage in Penang.
Similar episode at this rally might well erupt in violence and pM could well be caught up in it. It`s better if semi is alone there.

  34. Let Samy organize this rally. It would be good for Hindraf. When all Indians gathered together, they will turn away from Samy and demand what they really want! At least this rally is a “legal” from the point of BN government. It is the time Indian raise their voice! The opportunity is created from within!

    Am I too optimistic?

  35. It is indeed mind-blogging, spirit-squashing and very demoralising to learn that a government can take so much liberty with the life of a citizen and take his liberty and happiness away and lock him up by dishonestly tagging him as a terrorist or as associated with terrorism without a shred of evidence and for them to come around and say that the Americans too have a law similar to our ISA. Charge them in court if there is evidence, deny them bail if he is laible to create more unrest but to go and take the absolutely unacceptable reprehensible approach of lying as a government is much too much. You are the government and you are lying to arrest and detain…where and when is this going to end? I feel numb.
