Issues on Sarawak for the next election

by Sara Wak

1. Land Issues.

– Why are state lands given to companies related to the CM and his other families members, instead of being tendered for sale like in other countries such as Singapore?

– What are the reasons for the Government’s policy in imposing premiums on land leases expiring ? The Government was supposed to explain to the people, but so far, failed to do so. And the CM keeps saying that the people have to understand the Government’s policy ! If the Government does not make its intention known, how are the people to understand what and why the Government is doing ?

– Why are land leases restricted to 60 or 99 years and not perpetuity like in other parts of Malaysia ?

– Why can’t the Government be transparent and let the people trust the leaders ? The leaders appear to play “Hide and Seek” with the people !

2. Get details of the First Silicon Project and make it known to the people, from head to tail, including start and financial performance so far. The money belong to the people and Sarawakians have a right to know.

3. Borneo paper & pulp project. Similar to the First Silicon project. We want to know where our money has gone. They are not Taib’s money, and not his ministers’ money. The money belong to us just like shareholders in a company. If they have mismanaged the projects, they should be made accountable.

4. Why are Contracts awarded to certain companies like CMS, PPES, etc without any tender ?

Why was the tenders not open to the public and single-handedly awarded to companies like CMS and PPES, etc?

Why was the road maintenance contract awarded for 15 years rather than 5 years ? Was any evaluation done before the plan for the award?

5. How did the CM’s wife, Laila Taib and his family members afford to buy millions of shares in companies like CMS, etc?

Where did they get their money from?

How much does the CM and his family members earn a year to enable them to acquire such vast accumulation of assets and to spend on so many things like travelling, buying houses, entertainment, education for their children?

Perhaps a report for evasion of income tax can be lodged by DAP to Inland Revenue against the CM and his family members to find out whether their assets and spending exceed their income. This can be made anonymously by anyone from the public.

  1. The real issues, like this one, destroying the country and her ordinary people our leaders/politicians do not care or pretend not to know as they could also exploit the situation to their advantage at the great expense of the country.

No wonder the country is in deep shit!!!

  2. I’m one of many who will be inheriting their lands from their fathers. Lots of money will then be used to rebuild the old houses on these lands, and what do you know? As soon as we have saved up enough money to complete these houses for our families, the lease would have ended.

Then guess what our caring government is going to do about it? Instead of knowing that we had already spent all our hard-earned savings on rebuilding the house, they slap us with a heavy premium to renew the lease for another 60 or 99 years! Then, come our children or grandchildren, the process will repeat itself as if this is the cycle of life.

A caring government wouldn’t do such a thing. They should realise that not everybody can afford to pay those heavy premiums. Isn’t it enough that we pay Assessment Fees and Annual Rent?

It’s time to teach this lecherous government of us a lesson and deny them a 2/3 majority!!

  3. Everybody in Sarawak knows that pek mo controls everything, from garbage to gold. And yet, every time come election, he’s returned to power with a landslide victory. Who’s to blame? We ourselves of course. Wake up Sarawakians if you truly love Sarawak… Make a wise decision this coming GE!!

  4. Yes, First Silicon is a laughing stock for the world.

All these airheads thought that if they invest, they must invest in real high tech and must be big but not knowing they themselves knew nothing about such industries. Taib the same, Mahatier the same too.

Of course, another main reasons such investments failed were due to corruptions and totally lack of accountability!

  5. The problems with our politicians in BN govt is that they think they have done a great job! I must say they are wrong, you are just blessed with the gifts of mother nature! But soon it will be all gone, but for now you are pludering it to live like a king. Sarawakians! Come election, make sure Taib fall from grace, take back every cents from Taib, Taib’s family and cronies, this is for your future!

  6. dawsheng, you’re right. The BN is really doing a great… plundering all the riches that Sarawak has to offer. When all is gone, they too will be gone, enjoying their riches in a foreign country. And where does that leave all of us? Crying over split milk? Come on now… don’t wait for that to happen… take action by not crossing the Blue dacing when the time comes.

  7. Not many Sarawakians are fortunate to read or accessable to IT.
They been taught from their leaders whom have received benefits from those in power.
Too many happenings that were wrongly practices and yet can get away because they are comfortablely feed by the current system.
Real sad case here and severe damages been done too.
It a case of backward policies that kept those in favor in power for this long period.
Ain’t nothing can be done until the sytem self destruct by itself in the awakening of time.
Take care Sarawakians and somehow, do find blessing in another term under the present system.

  8. Japan PM is coming soon.

Just wonder how much compensation we rakyat need to pay for the scrapping of the Broga incinerator plan?

I suspect it would cost us rakyat a big fortune!

Whose heads need to be chopped?

  9. What the hack our IRB or ACA is doing with all these corrupted and greedy politicians. How can these politicians live in the luxorious whereas the people have to pay the price and being squeeze by these irresponsible Ministers. How long our IRB and ACA want to close their eyes…or they are blind???

  10. CM related company took away my in-law land with mere take-it-or-leave-it 30k compensation whereas market valuation for the piece of land was 120k. Believe many people in Sarawak suffer the same under the present CM.

This is the type of government we have today in Sarawak, in fact the whole Malaysia. Equivalent to day light robbery.

  11. bystander Said:

“All sarawakians must vote for change by voting opposition. period. The power and choice is in the hands of sarawakians, unlike west malaysia.”

Did you forget about the thousands illegal immigrants who are granted citizenship? The power and choice is in THEIR hands.

  12. Not just the land issue..

The petroleum royalty issue too… Sarawak only given ‘a sorry’ 5% of royalty from petroleum production from the federal government.

Sarawak deserve higher royalty than that… at least 15%,

If compare to Peninsular Malaysia, the roads in Sarawak is in very sorry state….it should have a better roads if the state given a higher petroleum Royalty…. With 5%, seems like the 95% taken by ‘penjajah’.

We also have to pay high price for petrol,,,, a saloon car need RM80 to fill to full tank compared to RM48( B$22) in neighbouring Brunei.

  14. Aduh!! Pak Chek Uban lagi. He seems indispensables. Some leaders called him “god’s gift to Sarawak”. The culture among these cronies is such that any body placed up there can commit no error. A crime is seen as a blessing. Why? It is because they all one a share of the cake. Even the crumbs will do.

  15. Is time for All sarawakians vote for change by voting opposition. The power and choice is in the hands of sarawakians, is time people of sarawak step up to change our freedom. We have right to choose the leaders can lead us for a freedom.

  16. This should maybe explain why Pehin Grey stay in power for a long period of time. And why DAP or other opposition hard to win in sarawak.

Its not that we dont want to change. Change is only a new political scenario and started to accepted by the people.

Before, sarawakian refuse to change. They are comfortable with their government administration despite they indeed realise of the slow development progress when it comes to comparation with Semenanjung Malaysia.

They are all control by the idea that opposition is bad people. Opposition fight the government. Only Government BN can do development in Sarawak. Only BN can secure the life of sarawak people. Unfortunately, Sarawak opposition really sucks at the moment before the march election, perhaps before PKR.

Sarawakian are convince by PBB government that their rights are not abuse by the federal. Local native will not enter UMNO and together shouting “HIDUP MELAYU” as what we saw in sabah UMNO recently. Hence, sarawak feel that their rights as at the constitutions are still strongly taking care of.

PBB of taibs really make a good control over all sarawak natives leader such as tan Sri JABU ‘TUH’ as representative of the Dayak Community. West may hard to understand sarawak politics as it involve majorly on urban area. Sarawakian who live far from the city have a tradition mindset of voting only ‘lambang daching’ the BN’s logo. Longhouse folks only follows. Jabu tuh, only works through this way.

DAP as an opposition in sarawak only focus on sarawak chinese. It is hardly to understand why on earth they must be only for chinese fight for democracy in sarawak. I did wish to understand their fights in politics, but when i come to their speech, i only hear “cing cong cing cong” “bla bla CMS, bla bla Taib”.. and when people laugh, im laughing as well. Local Native are not so stupid to vote for single race base party.

Sarawak has the most race in malaysia, they hate it when government of malaysia only adress Melayu, Cina dan India.

whatever, sarawakian is still a sarawakian no matter what race they are. only Sarawak do so!

Now sarawakian are ready for change, march 8 and PKR opens a lot of sarawakian eyes to the politics scenario. DAP will never win sarawak local natives heart.

You are same with other DAP, do blaming more than corective action.

i believe there are bright future for sarawak. Sarawak only need “CHECK AND BALANCE” for now. Soon, Government will belong to the sarawak!

    sincerely,
    Amai Munyi Ticak
