The week-long silence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Gender Equality, Dr. Rozaidah Talib (Ampang) in the escalating national furore over the crude, vulgar, sexist and male-chauvinist remarks of the two sexist Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs, Datuk Mohd Said Yusof (Jasin) and Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (Kinabatangan) bringing shame and dishonour to DAP MP for Batu Gajah Fong Po Kuan, women MPs, Parliament and the nation and the open support of two caucus members to sexism in Parliament is another shameful episode for the Malaysian Parliament.
Dr. Rozaidah was informed by SMS on Thursday morning of Po Kuan’s attempt refer the two sexist BN MPs to the Privileges Committee and the decision by the Speaker, Tan Sri Ramli Ngah to make a ruling when the House resumed after lunch-break at 2.30 p.m, but she chose to absent herself when it would be her duty and responsibility as Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Gender Equality to round up all Caucus committee members to stand up and speak loud and clear against sexism by male chauvinists in Parliament.
Even worse, two caucus members, Fadilan Yusuf (BN- Petrajaya) and Idris Haron (BN-Tangga Batu) spoke up in support and defence of the two sexist BN MPs, showing no sympathy, support or solidarity whatsoever to Po Kuan and Malaysian women who were being shamed and dishonoured by the derogatory, crude, sexist and gender-offensive attacks of the MPs from Jasin and Kinabatangan.
Fadilan said “the statement was never intended to humiliate women” and that it was provoked – although he did not explain how two MPs could be provoked and together, when the whole issue was about Parliament leaking despite a RM100 million renovation!
Idris went even further, accusing Po Kuan of “using the issue as a means of getting publicity for her own political agenda”, claiming that it was “a joke, not a personal attack”.
Both Fadilan and Idris must apologise for their gender-insensitive and offensive comments. They are also totally unqualified to be on the Parliamentary Caucus on Gender Equality.
I am surprised that Mohd Said has now denied that he had uttered sexist remarks, when the video footage of his disgraceful parliamentary conduct is up on YouTube, Google and many blogs. On YouTube alone, which received a four-and-a-half star rating, it was viewed more than 21,000 times.
The Jasin MP of “one-eyed” notoriety is proving himself to be a liar apart from being a MCP in Parliament.
I have received a report by the DAP MP for Bukit Mertajam, Chong Eng, that the GlobalPOWER 2007, which is a worldwide coalition of Members of Parliament, state legislators and members of the judiciary, has issued a statement denouncing “the sexist and demeaning statements that male Members of Parliament in Malaysia made to their women colleagues”.
Mohd Said and Bung Mokhtar as the main culprits and the two MCPs in Parliament should apologise to Parliament and the nation for this international shame they have brought to the country. Others who had rallied to their defence and support like Fadilan and Idris or condoned their misconduct like Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, should also tender their public apologies to Po Kuan, Parliament, Malaysian women and the nation.
Perhaps the Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Gender Equality, Dr. Rozaidah Talib no longer can bocor? That’s why the above furor does not in the least bother her
Yeah. This issues do not concern those who have reached menopause. Little wonder they chose to keep quiet.
The statement to degrade and humiliate women is totally inappropriate in any circumtances.
It’s a national disgrace that BN MPs, including DPM and Ministers, do not see this as totally and grossly inappropriate……it would be a different situation if the same statement was made of their mothers, wives, sisters and daughters.
They are setting a bad example for the people.
Shame on all BN female MPs. Once again they demonstrate their inabilities to speak up and be counted. Shame on Shahrizat.
All those who supported the two MCPs from the jungles of Borneo and from Malacca should be made to repent, Najib and Nazri included. BN is a sexist party.
VICTORY!!!!!!
The two MPs have apologised. They have been humbled.
But have they learnt their lesson? Time will tell.
This Gender issue has been going on for about a week and it is still red hot. Surprisingly there is nothing from the PM yet. As usual he is waiting to see which side the wind is blowing heavier and his slow response time is nothing unusual, basically he is unable to make a stand alone decision, typical symptom of a weak leader. His response time is poor, typical symptom of people with poor intellect.
Fortunately for him but unfortunately for most of the rakyat, by a stroke of luck such characteristics had been a plus point for him to be chosen as a PM. Well that is what TDM is looking for, reasons best known to TDM. Frankly under normal circumstances Malays of this caliber will only be fit to be a government officer or an Ustaz. If he is not a Malay, probably he will be an office boy or at the most a clerk as he will not be able to take Islamic Studies as he would have been kicked out from Uni after failing his Statistics.
The pertinent question is, are we going to vote for such leader again, now that we had known his true color. We all had been deceived once and we are not naive to be deceived again. DAP or PKR, can you tell us positively that you are a better choice. Can you promise us Good Governance by having clear cut transparency, credibility, caring and most important not corrupt like UMNO and some of its bedfellows and also have credible MPs who are constructive and not like the two UMNO morons who has nothing to contribute but destroying the dignity of women and Parliament itself.
They only worried they would not stand in the next upcoming election. Or worst, face the brunt of the women voters.
Their Dato’ ship and political position more important in the long run. Look at it this way, millions of timber business and some other commission money is at stake if they no longer at the helm.
Yup… Said is one hella stupid MF. caught on tape and available online and yet still try to lie his way out.
He is DAMN STUPID!!!! and those who voted for him is EVEN MORE STUPID!!!!!
BN 4th floor boys will have a tougher time running around for fresher responses for their MPs to read now… Speaker scripts also need to be reasign for better screenplay effects.
The sexist MPs have apologised!! Well done Poh Kuan, YB Lim and DAP!!
Now, lets turn all our focus and pressure onto jamaludin jarjis. Let him feel the heat!!
It’s only shows that BN coalition teamwork are well bonded even when the truth are revailed. All of them are great carpet merchants that will cover each others through thick and thin. There are so much personal gains at stakes than to serve the people who voted for them.
It took them more than a week to apologise.
Now send them to the women jail for a week as punishment and you can be assured they will never humiliate women anymore.

Dr Kua’s “May 13” book banned
It is quite amusing to see these two articles in the same newspaper…
1) Said denies saying any “bocor” insult
2) Said apologizes for “bocor” insult
hahahaha…. our beloved intellectually superior MPs….
the people of Jasin must be so proud of themselves for voting him in.
Did all the Jasin folks voted for him or BN make sure that he wins ??
MP of Jasin majority are won by voting or ploting ????
this two fellows are no better than some brainless show-off gangsters who would unashamedly bully the old and young, weak and defenceless.
they are brought into the august house by a political party who is now infested with incestuous worms and slimmy snakes to intimidate and to disrupt, in order to satisfy its selfish egoistic orgasm.
allah wakbar!
Sheriff Singh:
You think they have really apologised ? Would you believe in their apology if it is made ?
These two idiotic and uncouth MPs better not stand for the next election. The chauvinistic and vulgar insults in Parliament should be the final straw in the string of “crimes” of these two brainless women haters. If they stand and actually win then we’re all doomed.
Apologised only after kena pressured by the public. This is not apology, this is just getting away from the hook. Well, can I slap the two fellows and few days later apologise to them? I would probably end up in the court. Giving gender remarks equivalent to sexual abuse and in accordance to law should be punished!
These two MPs should be sacked or suspended base on their past dirty track records. What have they contributed so far to the society besides verbal abuse in the parliment and practise close one eye policy.
If BN preach gender equality, strict action should be taken against its members who broke the rules. If not, this is just to show to us fellow Malaysians another case similar to Datuk Z crying on TV calling mama asking for forgiveness later laughing all the way to the bank with millions of taxpayers money. Well, even kids can do that. We Malaysians have been treated like FOOLS!
Rise up fellow Malaysians, how can you bear with these kind of nonsense in the ruling party? If Najib cannot act, what should we do?!
Apart being partisan, this bunch of racist idiots are also hypocritical, brainless and good for nothing. The country will be devoid of its future if helmed by these half-baked leaders.
If they make a public apology in front of everyone (especially in Parliament) and they show some remorse on their faces and in the tone of their voices and taking into consideration the words that they use, that I think is a punishment. Whether it is sufficient or not, well it will be a moot point.
What is in their hearts only the Almighty above knows.
But it would appear they are still recalcitrant and unrepentant as latest news shows. How Shahrizat will “scold” them this Friday and what will be the outcome, we shall wait and see.
Hey Singh!
Get real.
An apology is an apology is an apology. Time to move on!
bodohland, you are in a world of hurt if these “people” represent the best you have to offer. watch out, you may still make it as a 4th world country by 2050.
Hey move on!
The best thing anyone of you can do is to dump the BN in the next GE.
