Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad should appear before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity to throw light on the grave and protracted problem of the extraordinary increase of foreigners resulting in their numbers exceeding Sabahans in the state population.
This is particularly pertinent in view of persistent allegations that Mahathir had masterminded when he was Prime Minister what had been described as “Project Mahathir False ICs” in Sabah based on the deliberate issuance of Malaysian I/Cs to foreigners based on false statutory declarations under “Project IC” or “Project Mahathir”.
One estimate has put the foreigners in Sabah as around 1.75 million, including those in possession of the Project Mahathir ICs, as compared to 1.5 million genuine locals in Sabah.
Hundreds of thousands of false ICs are in the hands of foreigners who are proclaiming themselves not only Malaysians but also as Bumiputras with all the privileges and rights of Customary Native Rights in Sabah.
It is now public information that in the 1999 certified electoral rolls, through the new IC numbers, there were 150,000 Sabah-born registered voters who were born in 1952 through 1960 although according to the Sabah Statistics Department, the State’s population in 1951 was 334,141 and in 1960, 454,421, an increase of 120,000.
With an estimated 80 per cent in this group registered as voters, there would only be about 100,000 Sabah-born voters for this period — which would mean that about one-third of voters allegedly born in Sabah between 1952-1960 were foreigners with ICs issued fraudulently with the use of falsified Sijil Akuan under the Project False I/Cs.
These are very serious allegations which Mahathir cannot allow to stand in the public domain uncontradicted or unclarified.
Mahathir spoke for the first time on the “Project Mahathir” or “Project False ICs” in the third part of his exclusive interview with Malaysiakini on Friday, where he made an outright denial of any knowledge about “Project Mahathir.”
This is what Mahathir said in the Malaysiakini interview:
Q. You have created a situation in Sabah where there are more foreigners than locals.
A. Sabah is a border area like Kelantan. Traditionally, the Bajaus for example, used to come and go as they like because they never recognised the boundary between the Philippines and Malaysia or between British North Borneo and Indonesia. These people come and go, and some of them have been staying there for 30 years. The children cannot go to school because we do not recognise them as citizens. This is very unfortunate.
We have been having this kind of problems all the time, and it’s going to get worse – in every country – because borders today are very porous. No way you can stop a few million Indians migrating to Europe, a few million Arabs migrating into France. You cannot stop it today.
Q. But they accused Umno of giving all these ICs to foreigners in order to…
A. Not Umno as such. There may have been a few fellows who did it, but it was not Umno.
Q. The government?
A. The government, no. Certainly not. Some people with an interest in doing so may have, maybe for money.
Q. There were claims that there was a special meeting involving former deputy home minister Megat Junid Megat Ayob, involving the police, and where these things were discussed. There were very specific allegations where things were orchestrated for political ends. Do you have any knowledge of this so-called Project M?
A. No. Not me.
Q. So Project M is not Project Mahathir?
A. It’s nice to have ‘M’. At one time, there was even an MM government.
I will propose at tomorrow’s meeting of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity that Mahathir be invited to give testimony to give first-hand evidence on the serious allegation of a Project False I/Cs which had also been termed as Project Mahathir which was responsible for the fraudulent legalization of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants by the issue of false documentation, conferring on them voting and citizenship rights.
As Mahathir has said that the problem of corruption has worsened under the present administration as compared to his 22-year premiership, this would also be a very pertinent subject for Mahathir to appear and testify before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity.
“You have created a situation in Sabah where there are more foreigners than locals…” Now we know who to lynch should the Indonesians govt decide to launch a 2nd konfrontasi and grab east malaysia
Every action there will be a reaction. Everything that done then, will have its consequences returning.
Someone represented Sabah ( Malaysian Government ) to act upon these form of ‘short-cuts’. Then, it’s the best idea to control or gain control of certain results or personal gains. We all forgotten that we have to respect time and its causes. We are reaping what was sowed back then now.
Let us learn from the mistake and put on a special education program for all “SABAHAN” to adapt to our culture. It’s a much better option than to ‘clean’ them up.
This is one issue which Mahathir will emulate his successor in terms of memory loss: “Saya tak tahu.”
Apa nama …. perkara ni saya tidak dimaklumkan oleh pihak pihak yang tertentu …..
Now, that ‘s why he so sad lately … Lucky for him that the sons are still in businesses and given fair shares of publicities by BN. I believe that soon TDM will be reminded to refrain himself to continue certain ‘outspoken’ remarks that tarnishing BN and government. Recalling AI masterpiece.
Of course Mahathir denies. Where’s the evidence linking him?
We shall look again at allegations of former senator Dr Chong Eng Leong [who is a supreme council member of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)] made to the parliamentary select committee on integrity at Sabah State Assembly.
Chong alleged that the extraordinary population increase in Sabah was caused by the deliberate issuance of Malaysian identity cards (ICs) to foreigners, who are mostly from the southern Philippines, through falsified Sijil Akuan (statutory declaration) under under the secret ‘Project Mahathir’ or ‘Project IC’.
Chong said that a secret meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the project, which was attended by, among others, then deputy home minister Megat Junid Megat Ayub and chief secretary to the government, Ahmad Sarji. Ahmad was said to oppose the plan, however he was told that Mahathir had already given his approval.
You should summon Megat Junid Megat Ayub and Ahmad Sarji to appear before Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity first, get the evidence before confronting Mahathir.
A weak and ineffective leadership and administration had allowed some people within/outside the goverrnment, with hidden agenda, to abuse their position of trust, power and influence at the great expense of the country.
I dunno la Uncle Kit, our country has gone to the dogs now! how can this be allowed to happen, its TREASON! lets hang the perpetrators! [note the usage of Plural].
Selling sands to S’pore is like selling our country. Issueing IC to foreigners for his own political gains ?????? no problems ! TDM a tongue twister!
Is the old man OK? Heard he is ICU again…
if i were to interview him, i will juz ask him two questions:
1) does he acknowledge that “Project M” does exist with fake IC’s and bumiputra status given to Indos.
2) How does he account for this mess up till no one knows who is really a citizen n who is holding on to fake IC’s as this happened during his tenure as PM.
As e PM at tt time, he should b held accountable for such a mess in Sabah. Sorry to say, if u actually consider urself a leader, u would hav to take responsibility for ur subordinate’s screw-up… especially one as big as this.
But then of course, this is bodoh-land where no one fr e ruling party can b held responsible. or maybe they juz look for some scapegoat n dump all crap at tt poor fellow.
Actually, project M provide the answer to the 30% equity which cannot be achieve by the bumiputras in this country. How can they achieve when more and more peoples who are poor and also not the citizens of this country are now new bumiputras. Simple mathematics tells us that the new bumiputras will pull down the percentage of the equity.
The rot begins with him.
The Tun is now in the Intensive Care Unit in Langkawi. He must have heard about the suggestion.
Has J Pairin any evidence? His party licked the dust after Project M?
What powers do the Select Committee on Integrity have?
If they cannot get people to testify on pain of some punishment, all the ex-PM has to do is to stone-wall the members with “I don’t know.”
Unless there is some strong evidence or a mole in the Min of Internal Affairs.
“You should summon Megat Junid Megat Ayub and Ahmad Sarji to appear before Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity first, get the evidence before confronting Mahathir.”
Both are exercises in futility.
My landscaper was an Indonesian who studied landscaping in Indonesia, who came to this country, worked for a few years brushing shoulders with Datuks and Datins, married to another Indonesian and were issued with ICs and had children who grew up, went to school and landed themselves with government scholarships – all that within a matter of some 15 years!
He became a staunch supporter of BN ever since.
There are thousands like him in Kuala Lumpur – and one can safely say over hundreds of thousands in Sabah alone!
BN supporters are manufactured by the hundreds of thousands in this way it would seem as many among the millions of illegals were issued with red ICs and then blue ICs. The rest are just work-in-progress.
When true become false and false can become true, that is Malaysia politic for you, and that’s the govt, mysterious as always. The rakyat deserves to know the truth. Mahathir should not just talk, if he is serious about cleaning up UMNO, walk the talk and appear before Integrity Select Committee.
TDM is history now. He is lucky to conferred as TUN where he enjoy “immunity” from all his past doings. Another thing he must remember that all his sons are also lucky to ‘make it big’ in the business world and enjoy enough priviledges from split over projects.
Take a rest, TDM. Spend your precious time closer to GOD and seek HIS blessing and forgiveness. You have done your part, be it good or bad. Like any CEO, you have enchanged our time for your personal gains. Please don’t cry over spilled milk.
Malaysian like us will continue to live out with truth and share our opinions to keep each other warmly believe that this country deserve a better government.
TDM likes to shame people who he deemed to have done the world wrong but not being able to be brought to justice, like his recent farcical War Crimes Commission. Likewise, as he himself have been conferred a sort of untouchable status, he also should be shamed by the people who had deemed that he had done the country wrong but yet being untouchable. Shaming people works both ways.
Now, we all know why SV are getting more frustrated lately. He supposed to be the next to be confer TUN and some of the title holders are living beyond his timing. Everyone knew that SV can only be safe when there is an opening of TUN.
Now, he must be very pissed off with those TUNs in town….
TUN Dr.Mahathir has vision that brought our country into a developed nation many years ago. His vision starts of “look east” to bring the Japanese working culture into Malaysia to enhance and learn about productivity and working hard. This culture is still being practised in many firms today and also in the maintenance sector of any industries.
He has made Malaysia rich for the whole nation, a wealth building for many races and culture. Though, will all this developement , corruption is also the vehicle in the progress of the country. Vested interest in making money would starts a project and everyone has a cut from this project. THE PIE is HUGE! It may be the price paid for turning the country into a developed nation.
The differences is TDM creates wealth for everyone to share being in terms of profit, projects or sadly corruption too.. BUT now current situation..The wealth is being stolen.
There isnt project for the nations, profits are eroding BUT the same corrupted people are still greedy and hungry for more, and now they are stealing the wealth of the country..
We should be enjoying the country’s wealth by having lower cost of living and higher standard of living for everyone! BUT LOOK at what we could BUY now?? low quality manufactured monopolized products! It is just so sad!
Increasing TOLL rates that punish normal citizen for using the roads. The new toll rate has cause businesses to increase their price because they must add in this cost and pass the cost to consumer…
How long can we all take this?
I could never prosecute TDM, for he has done more good than any other PM ever did for the country. Of course, there are bad hats in the government during his tenure, but he knows that there are more pressing issues to resolve than to waste time to check upon that someone.
TDM do makes mistake, we are all human…but looking back, we have something to be proud of and the world now knows where is Malaysia..Not just ” somewhere north of SINGAPORE”
THank you TDM, your vision built the country…now is being destroyed and erode slowly..by those raiders..
You do not deserve such treatment from UMNO…or the GOVERNMENT as a whole.
When the fellow was reigning in Malaysia
He did what he wanted to us, and
We were cowering in fear.
Now when he has one foot in his grave
And filled with remorse,
When he does not know
His Right hand from his Left,
Now, we want to “berlagak” against him!
Spare that old man, guys.
Maybe we also do what evil he has done,
Albeit on a far smaller scale!
FuturePolitician,
I hope you don’t harbor hopes of becoming a politician yourself.
Dhorse, hopes is what keeps us alive…If your hope comes true, you have something to celebrate and be joyful about..when we have no hope…aka HOPELESS…just give up and die.
I just want changes for our children’s future..for the better, maybe not me or maybe me, who knows.
IF you dont see the big picture and have an open mind.. you will not make wise decision. Many has the believe that corruption is evil, we all know it BUT it is still a needed evil to achieve something good.
You know of Ying-Yang? Good and Evil,..etc you need a balance of both to achieve harmony..and stability
Thanks for your concern..
TDM took the risk when he is in power. No one happens to explained the consequences to him or he have calculated the entire risk worth his time and effort. His next of kins benefitted from all these (directly or in-directly).
He knew it all along. His aids have been updating him until this very moments. So, let him alone together with his next of kins and aids to manage their ‘crisis’ and interest.
TDM has stayed with us rakyat until today, If he were interested in $$ he would not have continue to monitor the government. Dont you guys see it, He is alone, all his friends/crony( which we all have been screaming about during his tenure) now is not with him.
He is a Doctor in Marketing, he sells idea to the world and brought in Investors to Malaysia. He creates jobs for the nation, he brought progress to Malaysia and made Malaysia known to the world. He tried helping the Malays by having the NEP and now it went out of control. NEP should not be part of a developed nation. We must work together as a Nation, and look beyond the boundry of Malaysia. You would notice there are bigger entities bigger market to compete and also to profit from.
If you keep sending all these messages to do away
He is a great person with superb brain and vision. He is working hard and this has a toll on his health.
As today, manufacturers are leaving or have left Malaysia, bring them the new advance technology to other country whom they are welcomed.
Anyway, I am tired now, balancing my work, my family , my personal time, and working towards a better nation..now I am very tired.
FuturePolitician,
How do you think Mahathir’s sons have amassed so much wealth in so short a time? They have their finger in every pie.
And Mahathir is looked upon as international pariah on the world stage. Explain that.
Most of the early leaders had been ‘legitimate foreigners’ who had plundered Sabah and blame the devastation on the locals…
now the State SEcretary is also a ‘legitimate foreigner’ Sukarti Wake I Man when the Man -Yi storm comes calling in Sabah.
RA Lind holds a code 71 – legitimate foreigner.
Syed Kechik is code 03,
Dr Patawari is code 71,
Osman Jamal – IC at age 20???? check that out …
